00:00The Meaning of Pentecost
00:07Pentecost was formerly the given name to the Feast of Weeks, or Harvest Festival,
00:17celebrated seven weeks after the beginning of the wheat harvest.
00:22Seven weeks correspond to almost 50 days, hence the name Pentecost.
00:30From the Greek Pentecoste, 50th.
00:34The festivities of Passover, Hebrew Pessach, Pass, and the Unleavened Bread
00:43were merged and fixed on the 14th day of Nisan.
00:48Since there, the Feast of Weeks received a regular date in the Jewish calendar,
00:54seven weeks after Easter, which today celebrates the departure of the Hebrews from Egypt.
01:03In Judaism, Pentecost began to remind the giving of the law to Moses.
01:09In Christianity, Pentecost, Whitsuntide, celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
01:19upon the Apostles gathered in the Cynical,
01:23which also would have occurred 50 days after Christian Easter.
01:28The Evangelist Luke describes with great clarity the experience of Pentecost
01:37upon the disciples gathered in devotion,
01:40but not the process itself, about which he and the others were unaware.
01:47That day, the disciples were thinking of their Master.
01:54Jesus had risen, promising to send the power of the Holy Spirit,
02:01as recorded by Luke in Acts of the Apostles.
02:05Now when he had spoken these things, while they watched,
02:29he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
02:35The narrative of Luke tells the disciples gathered on the very day of Pentecost.
03:01The happening of the outpouring of the power of the Holy Spirit
03:07on that Pentecost day calculated on earth
03:11indicates that the meeting of the disciples at that year
03:16coincided precisely with the actual happening
03:20that takes place in unimaginable heights of creation.
03:25Following is the account of the Evangelist.
03:31When the day of Pentecost had fully come,
03:36they were all with one accord in one place.
03:39And suddenly there came a sound from heaven,
03:43as of a rushing mighty wind,
03:46and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
03:50Then there appeared to them divided tongues,
03:54as of fire, and one set upon each of them.
03:59And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

04:10Several old paintings tried to portray this special event.
04:16The disciples were able to consciously experience the Pentecost
04:22because they gathered in worship at the exact moment
04:26that occurred the outpouring of the power of the Holy Spirit upon earth.
04:33The Apostle Peter even gives details about the hour when it happened,
04:39saying they gathered in the, quote,
04:42Third hour of the day, end quote,
04:45Acts 2.15, corresponding to approximately 9 a.m.
04:54The outpouring of power through the Holy Spirit, Pentecost,
05:00is a phenomenon that recurs regularly in all creation since the beginning of time
05:07and was not carried out exclusively to the disciples.
05:12It is the moment when a new supply of vital energy flows through the entire creation,
05:21the time of renewal,
05:23without which everything created would eventually wither and fade,
05:29as described in the Legends of the Grail.
05:33The famous King David knew the phenomenon and sang it in this psalm.
05:41Quote,
05:42O Lord, how many fold are your works!
05:48In wisdom you have made them all!
05:51The earth is full of your possessions.
05:55You take away their breath,
05:57they die and return to their dust.
06:00You send forth your spirit,
06:04they are created,
06:05and you renew the face of the earth.
06:09End quote.
06:10Psalm 104, 24, 29, and 30.
06:18That Pentecost occurred not only once,
06:22exclusively for the disciples,
06:24is clear in some passages of the Acts of the Apostles.

06:30While Peter was still speaking these words,
06:35the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
06:40And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished,
06:44as many as came with Peter,
06:47because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

07:01Can anyone forbid water,
07:04that these should not be baptized,
07:08who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
07:12And as I began to speak,
07:15the Holy Spirit fell upon them,
07:17as upon us at the beginning.

07:21Acts 10, 47, and 11, 15.
07:28The Jews of that time were amazed
07:32at the outpouring of power by the Holy Spirit over the pagans,
07:37because they did not know about the regularity
07:40of the renewal of God's power to the entire creation.
07:45Likewise, faithful Christians of today would also be amazed
07:51if they knew that this renewal continues to occur year after year.
07:59However, Peter had already told his listeners
08:02that the gift of the Holy Spirit was to them and their children,
08:08as well as, quote,
08:09to all who are afar off.
08:13End quote.
08:15Acts 2, 39.
08:18In the Old Testament,
08:20we see an allusion to this process,
08:23totally unknown to the Israelites,
08:26with the statement that,
08:28quote,
08:28The glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.
08:34End quote.
08:351 Kings 8, 11.
08:38Pentecost occurs in all creation
08:42and, therefore, also on earth and to all humanity.
08:48It still recurs regularly, indeed,
08:51year after year in a particular time.
08:55The human being only needs to have an open soul,
09:00full of humility,
09:01to receive it and enjoy the blessings of the Creator's power,
09:07bestowed by the Holy Spirit.
09:11This state of purified,
09:14humble and receptive soul
09:16is a precondition to receiving such power.
