00:00Brazil's Supreme Court has reached a majority decision in its trial against former President Jair Bolsonaro.

00:10With the ruling from Supreme Court Minister Carmen Lucia complete,
00:16the first working group of the Brazilian Supreme Court has just reached a majority opinion
00:21in the guilty verdict against Jair Bolsonaro and seven of his cronies
00:26who have been accused of attempting to implement a military coup,
00:30a rupture with the democratic rule of law,
00:33forming an armed criminal organization, damage to public property,
00:37and damage to historic landmarks.
00:40Now, this is the first time in the history of Brazil
00:43that military leaders such as General Walter Braganeto and General Augusto Elena,
00:49both also receiving the guilty verdicts today,
00:52have been convicted of attempting to plot a coup.
00:56Now, this has been going on for 130 years.
00:59There's a long history of military officers being involved
01:02in attempted and successful coup attempts over the years.
01:06This is the first time anyone has ever been given a guilty verdict.
01:10In addition, this is the first time a former president has been convicted
01:15of attempting to implement a coup.
01:17So now all eyes turn to Brasilia as the public awaits for the sentencing.
01:22If they decide, former President Bolsonaro and his cronies could get up to 44 years behind bars.
