00:01On Tuesday, the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court delivered a historic ruling against former Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro,
00:07son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, for calling on the United States government to impose sanctions on the South American
00:13nation.
00:14The ruling is categorical and finds him guilty of coercion and of illegally attempting to get the United States government
00:21to interfere in the legal proceedings facing his father.
00:24The decision reached unanimously in the absence of the defendant represents a resounding blow to foreign interference
00:31and the coup of plots that threaten democracy in Latin America.
00:35The Supreme Court found it proven that Eduardo Bolsonaro traveled to the United States in early 2025
00:40with the aim of pressuring the Trump administration to impose strafe tariffs on Brazil
00:45and even more seriously to personally sanction the judges investigating his father,
00:51who is accused of being a coup of plotter.
00:59He acted against the Brazilian people, against Brazilian institutions, and against the Brazilian judiciary
01:08by providing confidential information to U.S. authorities and persisting in doing so,
01:16even when this could cause significant economic and social damage to Brazil,
01:21whilst continuing to use coercion to benefit his own father.
