Dave & Chuck the Freak talk about a California woman who has been receiving tickets from all over the country because her vanity plate, 'LUVSICK', was being used by a clothing company.

00:00all right this southern california woman uh has realized that her vanity license plate

00:13is causing her nothing but trouble but she's held on to it for a while for some reason

00:20what's going on here's the story from kcal tv he has a custom paint job to say that suzy

00:27keifer loves her car is an understatement i pinned a picture of it on my bulletin board

00:32for probably two years before it was coming out i'm from detroit it's a muscle car i was lovesick

00:42for it and so what better to put on her vanity plate than the phrase lovesick how connected

00:48are you to this license plate first of all i'm in love with love it's part of me it just it's my life

00:56and it goes with my car for 20 years suzy says that plate has brought her nothing but joy

01:02until last may when she suddenly started getting tickets in the mail illinois san francisco new jersey

01:10fort worth texas tickets from agencies across the country for offenses like running a red light

01:17going through a toll road and speeding when you get a ticket you can go online to whoever's sending it

01:24to you and see the photos bigger of the car they're taking a photo of and i could see that it's not my

01:30plate it looks just like my plate turns out clothing retailer zoomies was selling a novelty plate with the

01:37words lovesick it looks almost identical to a real california plate and so what did you do i started

01:45calling every single ticket and discussing with whoever would answer the phone and listen to me

01:53and explain this is not my car clearly it's not my dodge oh my god oh my god oh my god listen that

02:01car's on my bulletin board too listen manifesting it that is not the only magnum that she's written

02:08oh no you're right oh no that's amazing that's amazing she loves love yeah yeah she loves love she

02:17loves magnum yeah yeah yeah she's a wild one uh she also signed her law on telling them not to let

02:25people pee on it yeah sure why not don't let your dog pee like she won't even let pink oh your dog

02:31oh my god some of them are mercedes some of them are old chevys keefer's lawyer sent a cease and

02:42assist letter to zoomies asking them to stop selling the plate which other drivers appear to be using on

02:48their cars but the company didn't respond so we reached out to zoomies not once not twice but three

02:54times with no response but within days we noticed that the lovesick license plate had been pulled off

03:01its website we contacted the department of motor vehicles and a spokesperson told us that california

03:07law prohibits the sale of any product that could be used to defraud misrepresent or impersonate a

03:14vehicle's identity such as a license plate but admitted to us that the dmv does not have direct

03:20enforcement authority to stop retailers from selling novelty fake license plates but the chp does it is

03:28not a correctable citation some people believe it is but it is not it's a minimum of a 500 fine

03:33i've seen it go upwards towards a thousand dollars is it legal for these retailers to sell these vanity

03:40plates but just illegal to use them on a car i think there you go that is correct they are basically sold

03:46for decoration or for novelty like you say but to display them on the vehicle that's that's up to the

03:51person driving that car and that is very illegal that is basically falsifying information and falsifying

03:56dmv document and while chp officers would know right away that this isn't a real california vanity

04:03plate cameras can't always spot the difference a lot of these red light cameras and things are

04:08are set up on automated systems so far suzy has been able to get her tickets wiped but she says she

04:13won't be satisfied until all these novelty plates are taken off the web she's a wild detroit lady she sure

04:22is wouldn't it be easier just to get her license plate changed of course yeah but she's not she's

04:27not changing that change that s to something else loves dick lisa way lisa way damn girl i mean

04:44but you could change it it's much easier it's only magnums enough for me oh you drive one too i see

06:10license plate i'd be like damn the stupid license plate i'm getting a new one oh my god yeah it's so

06:13much easier than going to the news making the take it stop selling it right i'm going to buy one

06:20of these right now license lovesick i'm putting it on the front of my jeep my other one started to

06:27fall apart so chuck is lovesick yeah we always knew it
