00:00When we talk about country musicians and philanthropy,
00:03who's the first person that pops into your mind?
00:05Dolly Parton.
00:06Dolly Parton.
00:06Yeah, for sure.
00:08And she's doing even more amazing things.
00:11She now has a children's hospital named after her.
00:14No way.
00:14Listen to Dolly.
00:15Hey there, it's Dolly.
00:17Now, I've always believed that every child deserves a fair chance to grow up healthy,
00:22hopeful, and surrounded with love.
00:25So, Dolly's been a longtime supporter of the East Tennessee Children's Hospital,
00:30and the facility just renamed itself Dolly Parton Children's Hospital.
00:34Yeah.
00:34So, that audio that you just heard came from an Instagram video that she posted yesterday
00:39praising the staff, praising the hospital's 90-year commitment to health and welfare of children,
00:45and the CEO of the hospital, Matt Schaefer, said,
00:49with Dolly's support, we are strengthening our mission to deliver world-class pediatric care to families.
00:53So, if you want to learn more about it, you can visit dollychildrens.org.
00:58She really is more, at this point, I know this is crazy to say, an icon and philanthropist than she
01:06is a country star.
01:07She has used her platform to do so much good with her books, with kids.
01:12It's so incredible.
01:13You know what I start to think is, you know how Betty White was like everyone's grandmother?
01:17Yes.
01:18It feels like Dolly's moved into that role now, at least for me, because she has that grandma feel and
01:25voice.
01:25She's been around for so long, but I feel like you're right.
01:29I think that it's the philanthropy.
01:30It's really like going outside of what we know her as that has made her a household name.
01:38Yeah.
01:38And my guess would be, if she was asked what would she want to be remembered for one day, it
01:44would not be Dollywood, it would not be the music, it would be the books, it would be the help,
01:49the things she did for other people.
01:50That's just who Dolly is.
01:52It's who country music stars are, really, the good ones.
01:54Yeah, absolutely.
01:55Want to be remembered for the good things they did.
01:56And what's beautiful about the way that she has paved her path is that they all coincide with each other,
02:04right?
02:04Like she knows that she wouldn't have the money if it weren't for the songwriting, if it weren't for the
02:08performing, and then Dollywood.
02:10But then Dollywood also gives back, and the Imagination Library also gives back, right?
02:15And then the, like, so it all, they all coincide with each other.
02:18You can't have one without the other.
02:20And not to mention that the young artists that are coming up, or even the more established ones, are seeing
02:25what she does with her platform.
02:26Like Miranda Lambert comes to mind, right?
02:28And all of her Mutt Nation work that she's done.
02:30You can't help but believe she's leading, she's seeing the example that Dolly is setting and saying,
02:36I want to create something, too, that can outlast me and help save lives of those little doggos of Mutt
02:41Nation.
02:42Dolly for president.
02:43Boom.
02:44Don't even tempt me.
02:50Boom.
02:53So let's say, and Yunkie.
02:56Boom.
02:56Dollywood is saying, who I want to create something else?
03:00Boom.
03:00Block the lamp.
