01:08winnipeg for the game for the
01:11hockey game the olympic hockey game and um i gotta tell you man i was rooting for canada because i

01:18like they've really been through the ringer i mean imagine if your neighbor to the south was like yeah we
01:23should take you over and make you the 51st state it's just horrible and they're up there
01:29i didn't realize this but they're having a bit of an existential crisis in the sense that
01:33after venezuela they're like i mean is this insane person just gonna like break into our country and
01:39take it over so i was sort of you know i don't know i was rooting for them to win
01:45it's all they have
01:46man i mean hockey is their whole thing yeah it's their identity for sure and then and then and in
01:52winnipeg this is just insult to injury okay in winnipeg the goalie yeah for america's team which
02:00by the way he's the reason that uh america won for sure there was absolutely no defense was almost
02:07the only thing we watched the entire time it was and the canadian goalie excellent excellent but
02:13winnipeg is watching their goalie beat the living daylights out of their country national country
02:20the country's team and they're just like oh my god so i went there and i mean overtime and all

02:28stuff i had a pretty good joke remember i'm in canada but i had a pretty good joke and i

02:52and i think we would we would have one player but a short one you know not a dwarf but

03:23screen and so all the comics were invited to go there and you know i could it was awkward for

03:29a couple minutes before i said hey i'm i'm cheering for canada i'm not you know
03:35i'm not here to cheer against the united states that's your home country regardless of anything
03:40i mean that's your team buddy you gotta understand when the president of the united states says maybe
03:47we'll just take over canada and make it the equivalent equivalent the equivalent of idaho was
03:54what he was talking about doing okay i know it was the 50th state i mean you gotta kind of
03:59be
03:59open to cheering for canada i mean i'm american all the way but i felt like that's all they have
04:06give them that i know yeah well you know what they did they'd have two more gold medals if they
04:10would
04:10have you know just become our 51st yeah they would that's right yeah they'd have gold medals in women's
04:17that's right see there you go and that was really bad too we are lost everything
04:22our women beat the living daylights out of their women in their sport it's a lot it's a lot so

04:30i'm excited you know it's funny to to perform in winnipeg last weekend and then uh you know detroit
04:37royal oak this weekend i think it's just it's really funny because somebody i was texting with this uh
04:42comic kelly colette she's hilarious and uh she was like oh have fun you know have fun in detroit if
04:50you just drive a couple hours or you get free health care i was like i was just in winnipeg
04:54but
04:54it is funny how michigan is kind of just kissing the border of canada you can get right over there
05:01to toronto um but royal like mark ridley's comedy castle to me is one of those killer always fun big
05:10shows sold out like i love going back there and i think a big part of it is you know
05:16if you marry a
05:17michigander if you're if you're yeah if if what you are ultimately attracted to to the point of
05:23life commitment is a michigan chick it's like yeah you i vibe with the audience i just do and a
05:30michigan
05:31chick will hit you in the face but only after she's warned you a couple of times
05:37that i feel like they're courteous but dangerous how about that there you go write that down
05:43so uh uh the uh the latest uh special which i just watched philosophy circus is out right
05:49thank you yeah i watched yeah what's up on youtube and uh i mean you know it's really cool you

05:59the way it's carrot tops birthday today so we gotta give props to carrot top is it i love that

06:28non-stop i loved him when i was a kid let me just go see what it's about so i
06:33go in there not expecting
06:34it to be bad or good nothing right just no expectations really and then i go ahead and
06:41sit down settle in and i was cracking up the entire time he did this one bit where he steps
06:47and there's
06:49different sound effects there's a
06:57you know and it was it was just like it was so funny i just couldn't even believe it so

07:04he's just a consummate performer i mean he's the real thing well in your latest special you got uh
07:08trombones you've got a cigar box juggling i even saw some things on the table that you didn't use in
07:14your special which i'm assuming were probably cut out for time or whatever the case is but i don't
07:18remember you doing oh even ventriloquism you're like touching on everything terrible ventriloquism
07:23well it wasn't great ventriloquist dummy who has a ventriloquist dummy who has a ventriloquist dummy
07:29kind of ventriloquism inception was sort of what that was all about yeah but uh but yeah i mean it
07:35was fun because it was two things that i just haven't really done uh that i'm pretty good at was
07:43just sort of you know philosophical humor and then circus art stuff because i trained as a circus
07:48artist when i was in you know college or thereabouts i went out and and did a program and so
07:54it's
07:54really really fun but i like the cigar box juggling because no one's seen that you know the trombone i
07:59make somebody in the audience play it and the ventriloquism really hasn't you know been done
08:04like that before so it was a very uh yeah it was it was great i mean people love the
08:09special they love
08:10it you know no it's fantastic that's up on youtube like i was saying uh so you're doing the touring
08:15you're
08:15playing like i said mark ridley's this coming weekend you got any uh other gigs coming up you
08:19got any acting gigs anything we'll be seeing on the small screen or the big screen well i like small
08:24screen as if now people watch it on their phone i mean that is a small screen just yeah by

08:30yeah you touched on that as well in your special yeah i mean we're sort of addicted to the screens
08:36and
08:36scrolling and all that stuff and so it's just really bad it's just and everybody knows it's bad
08:43but it my buddy i was just talking to a while ago he um he got a light phone l
08:50-i-t-e and it doesn't have
08:51any social media on it so you're just supposed to only use it for phone calls and texting and that
08:57lasted like three weeks or less and i mean he just could not get by without just instagram instagram
09:05instagram um but yeah the the main thing is i was on the phone with ryan reynolds a couple days

09:13and uh because we're buddies we are you know it's you have your ups and downs then you land right
09:18where you're supposed to you're best friends with ryan reynolds and yeah i i have this christmas
09:24film that my buddy and i wrote and we're sort of at the stage where we're going out to actors
09:33and
09:34directors and all that kind of stuff and that's exciting for me because i kind of felt like
09:39i was done being other people's projects because you just have so little control so i was starting
09:46to just be more about um you know writing the things that i'm going to be in and so you
09:53know
09:53there's that and then i have this like uh series called the loneliest megaplex which is about
09:59this guy getting a job in a movie theater during the pandemic and when all the malls are dying and
10:06he's the only one hired so it's a 30 screen megaplex and i'm kind of the only person there
10:11so you know the comedy ensues from just that weird sort of you know loneliness and isolation and
10:18so it's got thematically that stuff and then my uh uh techno thriller that i did a little while ago
10:25just got into south by southwest so we're uh i'm excited about that so i might go out there and
10:31help
10:31them promote that but it's um it's really right now it's about stand-up i just i keep telling people
10:38that i kind of lost 10 years of stand-up time to kind of go full speed full-time in
10:48um hollywood
10:50and so i'm just you know i'm really enjoying the stand-up and wanting to like get to you know
10:56a place
10:57where i'm a great stand-up i think i'm a very very very very very very good stand-up and
11:04i just i think
11:04i've got you know so i'm on the road almost every single weekend and i love it i mean the
11:10only thing
11:10is i really like my wife i'm a fan and everybody is a fan of their wife i'm a fan
11:16and so i i'm sort of uh
11:21yeah i'm i'm kind of it's frustrating that i have to be away so much um and if i was
11:28like a single dude
11:28i think i would love it like that guy i'd just be going getting laid that you know that random
11:34place
11:34in northern michigan um but i've been i'm not like that and a lot of my material is about my
11:40wife and it's you know it's not pejorative some of it's actually really embarrassing but she really
11:45wants me to but i've been tearing my pants off recently and that's she gave me a gift of
11:50tearaway pants and so i'm sort of closing by just ripping my pants off and showing people what's
11:57underneath you know well i won't be there for the end um so listen you know i i have to
12:02ask because
12:03you just brought up ryan reynolds i mean you're talking to him are are we going to see you in
12:07another deadpool or is that ship sailed uh it has not sailed and that's all i'm going to say about
12:13that because they get marvel gets so weird about this stuff they're just okay don't talk about it
12:18don't talk about it and i didn't want to be in the third one although what i will say is
12:23that
12:23he did a great job of making that not deadpool 3 he did a really good job of saying this
12:30is a
12:30marvel movie it's a different deal it's wolverine it's you know it's it's a hundred different
12:35connections all that kind of stuff and i will also say that his idea for the the next deadpool film
12:43is like really good you know it's just it is really smart he told me the idea i kind of
12:50got
12:51hair on the back of my neck standing up because i was just like i didn't think you could do
12:57something
12:57that's even more different than deadpool and wolverine and i think he has i think you know
13:04it's in the chamber and i don't know when that's necessarily gonna happen because he's got a couple
13:11other projects going but i've really come to i mean i always liked him and thought i always thought he's
13:20the funniest he really may be the funniest guy that i've worked with and i've worked some really funny
13:26people um but he is just so fast he's a good writer he's really he's as good of an improviser
13:33as
13:33anyone i've ever met and like you know i've been surprised by the improv of say uh jonah hill
13:41right you know you don't necessarily expect him to be a brilliant improviser but he was
13:47and then you know i just i've worked with a ton of people jason bateman is so funny such a
13:52good
13:52improviser but ryan is really a powerhouse in terms of the comedy and um you know and specifically
14:01deadpool so i and he's he's come to be a real friend and he's kind of had our back and
14:09i've tried
14:09to have his because it's i mean the internet is just such a evil cruel place you know it's just
14:16it
14:16doesn't make it so so despicable but i i think you know it's so i i really come to say
14:25you know
14:26he literally he and i just talked about this but i've come to say kind of um you know it
14:32would be a
14:32lot of fun to just joke around with him again just because i think he's so so funny and he
14:37made
14:37a really good point we were talking about different people we've worked with and he made a really good
14:42point he said you know he was just he was mentioning somebody that both of us have worked
14:47with and he made a really good point he said you know what that guy's really come around he just
14:51you
14:51know and i helped him get his his movie that he's working on right now and you know he just
14:56we were
14:57we were just talking about how you know everything people go through these things and everybody
15:02when they're younger has a different approach to stuff or they've got their own hang-ups and all of
15:08us tend to just come all the way around full circle to sort of you know it's i mean i
15:14know it's
15:14not stupid but like everybody grows up you know i think and the people that don't end up not really
15:20working with anybody and the people that do everyone around them tends to just say all right you know
15:26good to have you back in some ways so i thought that was interesting that he said that but it
15:30shows a
15:30lot about his character you know and plus i think he was happy that you were rooting for his hockey
15:35team
15:36ah i bet you know i i mentioned that he i don't even think he believed me to tell you
15:42the truth i
15:42think i think the people that i was watching with i'm not i don't know that they believed me i
15:47think
15:47deep down they're like you're an american we know exactly where your heart is but uh but it was fun

16:05guys uh how many shows you doing this weekend you got friday saturday and sunday i think it's friday
16:10no because i was gonna do lansing on sunday but i had a personal conflict so my wife has been
16:17through
16:17the ringer i have i have jokes about it but she has i mean our summer was like a disaster
16:25just multiple
16:26deaths um you know of human beings and horses to the horses that she grew up with
16:32and then my mother passed away but i've got some really good kind of jokes about that and that
16:39stuff is really growing and so this is a totally new uh hour it's just you won't even see anything
16:45that i did on philosophy circus or dear jonah which was the first batch i put out on my channel
16:50and i think that um i think it's a lot of fun because this stuff is kind of a little
16:56deeper a little bit
16:57darker and i'm always surprised by how many people you know i'll say hey i think i think we're ready
17:02to do some dark stuff you guys open to that i'm always surprised at how many people yeah yeah woo
17:08because people kind of want to hear you know how deep you can get in you know your own life
17:15and and
17:16and what's tough around you so it's been really fun it's a different it's really it's a different
17:21hour it's silly too a lot of finger puppetry so don't don't think that it's all kind of heavy
17:29heavy stuff but uh yeah it's been it's been really interesting it really has it's been really
17:35interesting well i'll tell you what enjoy your trip here to uh michigan this weekend we'll send
17:39everybody your way of course i'll put the uh this the uh the latest philosophy circus here in the story
