00:00But now let me bring it down and talk about the Dolphins here.
00:02For a team that doesn't need more embarrassment,
00:10they need to look like, hey, it's Wednesday.
00:14We've got it together.
00:16And I was just, I was, I was shocked.
00:21I saw a tweet from Marcel Louis Jacques,
00:25Mike McDaniel on Darren Waller's availability for week two.
00:30I expect to not know what to expect until later on this week.
00:38We may get to a point where we realize the risk is too great for the rest of the season
00:44and we'll have to do what's best for the team.
00:51I mean, I could do four hours on just that quote.
00:55What is he talking about?
00:57So he expects to not expect to find out until the end of the week.
01:03But I think what he's doing is he's setting the table for no Darren Waller this season.
01:06Yeah.
01:07And that, again, I know we made this delineation.
01:13They got rid of John O. Smith and then they signed Darren Waller.
01:16And we made the assumption that Darren Waller was there to replace John O. Smith.
01:21You made a very good point of saying, hey, that may just have been bad timing on their part.
01:25They never, they probably never meant to say Darren Waller is the replacement for John O. Smith.
01:31Although I would say, wasn't Darren Waller the expected TE1 though?
01:38Like, wasn't he going to be, or was he one on the depth chart or never actually?
01:42Yes.
01:42Yes.
01:42I mean, those were unofficial depth charts technically.
01:45But on every depth chart that the Miami Dolphins released, Darren Waller was listed as tight end numero uno.
01:53I mean, we can do all the covering that we want and say that's never what they intended, that they were happy with Julian Hill and Tanner Conner.
02:04Plus, he's the highest paid tight end.
02:06He's, let's, let's not forget.
02:07But isn't it all incentive based or, or is that base salary?
02:11I think it's 2 million is the base and then it could go up.
02:14So, I mean, he's, even if it's not Julian Hill, average annual value, I think was under a million.
02:20And I can't imagine Tanner Conner is making more than that either.
02:24So like, he's literally the highest paid tight end on the roster.
02:30Bonus.
02:31We did.
02:31Hawk, you said it right.
02:33We all did.
02:34And Solana, I'll throw you in the bucket.
02:35Jimmy too.
02:36We all said, oh man, Darren Waller hadn't played football in a year, but he's coming back, mental health stuff and going, bro, he's, he wasn't ready to play ball.
02:46We whistled through the graveyard through the preseason.
02:49Oh, he's not playing again.
02:51He's not playing again.
02:52Oh, he doesn't want to start him in joint practices because he doesn't want to throw him in the fire.
02:58Throw him in the fire, throw him into football.
03:01That's the fire is the game of football.
03:03But it does seem, it does seem like this has to be more than physical.
03:07We understand, we all understand his history.
03:10So I would imagine, you know, you'd know if there was just a hip injury a month ago and what the prognosis would be for return.
03:20You get to the start of week two and you're saying, we might have to make a decision for the better of the team.
03:27That leads me to believe that there's more at play here.
03:30Either he's not engaged enough to make them feel like, although I'll tell you, I couldn't be much less engaged than the rest of the team based on week one in Indianapolis.
03:41So I don't know, but I just think for a team that needs no more embarrassment needs to look like, Hey, we're getting it.
03:49Now, there is another quote from Barry Jackson, Miami Herald.
03:52He tweeted out McDaniel feels your pain.
03:55Here's the quote.
03:56I don't envy anybody that's covering the team or any fan or anyone that's interested in the Miami Dolphins because that was embarrassing.
04:08Players have been very focused on how they've conducted themselves.
04:12You either learn from it or you fall victim to it for a second game in a row.
04:16That's more of what I want to hear.
04:18It's shocking that you would even have to say that week two that, Hey, you know, the, the team needs to learn that they weren't engaged enough.
04:30Like, holy mackerel, you went through the entire preseason and they're, they need to learn that this week.
04:38Like what's going on.
04:39But regardless, I'd rather hear more of that than what I heard him stumble on about, about Darren Waller.
04:46But man, I, I just, I think certain teams, they get their ass kicked and then you feel like, okay, that ain't going to happen again.
04:57They've got it together.
04:57And man, I feel like he has stumbled out of the gate for the second week in a row here.
05:03And, and that, that report, especially how he says it, I'm expecting not to expect to expect, not to expect to do like those, those words, salads that he throws out.
05:13It's a lot of favorite thing in the world.
05:14Oh, he loves a salad.
05:15He loves it.
05:16It's salad, but it, it, it doesn't make the team look good in the leadership role.
05:20But I, when y'all said that about Darren Waller, I thought about it.
05:25Remember when Randy Moss was with the Raiders and he was cooked.
05:29This is after Minnesota.
05:30Randy can't play anymore.
05:31Then he goes to new England and old Randy Moss can play more.
05:34He can still, he led the league in receiving touchdown.
05:38That was the other, the one extreme.
05:40I always bring up Emmitt Smith where I love Emmitt Smith as a kid.
05:47Then I see him in Cardinals football uniform.
05:50And I'm like, who's that little fat guy running around getting tackled easily by everybody on the field.
05:57Playing Mike Allstott early in my career.
06:00Cause I'm a Bucks fan.
06:02Mike Allstott was a dog.
06:04I ran up on him, hit him and he fell down.
06:07And I was like, Oh, are you Mack Allstott?
06:12You can't be Mike Allstott.
06:14Like I love you.
06:15I shouldn't be able to tackle you.
06:17That's what we had to figure out with Darren Waller.
06:20And I hate to say he might be closer to Mike Allstott than Randy Moss.
06:26As we're sitting here looking at it.
06:28It's just shocking that they didn't figure this out till the beginning of week two of the NFL season.
06:36Is it Frank Smith or relationships and all?
06:39Probably.
06:40Probably.
06:40And that would be my guess.
06:42And that's what a lot of guys bring in their friends or guys from the past.
06:47I say it all the time.
06:48Y'all get on me because I don't care when guys get cut or you can't play this game anymore.
06:52It's a performance based business.
06:54And I'll tell y'all, Darren Waller, I can't even say he hasn't performed because I haven't seen him perform.
07:01Like he hasn't done anything.
07:03But that's the performance then.
07:05And, you know, this has shades of Odell Beckham kind of written all over it as well.
07:10Shades.
07:11I mean, several guys through the – I sent that to my thread with the Ticket Wizard who is a diehard Dolphins fan.
07:18And he just – like he lost it talking about – I'm going to go back to who he was talking about.
07:25But there's just like this track record here.
07:27And, you know, I hate to do this again with Chris Greer because it just feels like we're beating a dead horse.
07:32But, man, I mean, the Dolphins know all offseason offensive line.
07:38Going back a couple years, offensive line, offensive line, offensive line.
07:41Like let's build up the depth of the offensive line.
07:43You lose James Daniels five snaps into the season.
07:46And, oh, break class in case of emergency.
07:49Let's go get a former first rounder.
07:51Chris Greer's favorite words week two, former first rounder that's on a practice squad somewhere.
07:56Those guys either should have been signed already because you felt strongly about them.
08:01Or you probably shouldn't wait until week three or week two when there's an injury to go find depth.
08:09You know, and this is what they do.
08:11Like they're just trying to find guys at a very low cost, low risk, high reward.
08:18And it almost never works for them.
08:21Byron Jones, by the way, is the other player ticket wizard had brought up in addition to Odell Beckham.
08:27Like it has shades of Byron Jones written all over it.
08:31All I would say to you, though, Solana, is at this point in the season, you're only finding bargain basemen.
08:35Like you're not, you can't spend big money if you wanted to.
08:40There's no one out there.
08:42I was just going to say good James don't get lucky.
08:45That's what Solana was kind of saying.
08:47He's trying to get lucky.
08:48Find an older guy and he's still got another 15 in him.
08:52It's lucky.
08:53Good.
08:54Roseman, if I go through the good teams of that build roster, they don't get lucky.
09:01They're not playing roulette at the Hard Rock.
09:03They have solid drafts and they have amazing signees in free agency.
09:09They don't try to get lucky with older guys.
09:11We got lucky with Calais Campbell.
09:14That was a luck thing.
09:17There's no Calais Campbell.
09:18Tell me the Calais Campbell this year.
09:20The old guy that can still play.
09:22And Calais had five tackles starting for Arizona.
09:25We should have kept his ass around, to be honest.
09:28We're not getting lucky with these old dudes.
09:31I mean, sometimes you can get lucky.
09:32Chris Greer has gotten lucky before, and I'm sure that's an element to it.
09:36But it shouldn't all be luck.
09:38And you should only have to try to get lucky at one position.
09:41The Dolphins are like, let's try to get lucky at cornerback.
09:45Safety.
09:45Oh, why don't we try to get lucky at safety?
09:47Offensive line.
09:48We'll try to get lucky there as well.
09:50And then the places you don't need luck aren't going your way either.
09:53Chris Greer is putting a chip on 11, pulling a slot machine, and playing blackjack at the
10:03same time, running around the casino.
10:05That is the way I gamble, man.
10:06That is the most fun way to gamble.
