00:49Welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Rezoz Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:56Over the last 24 hours, almost 70 Palestinians were killed in Israeli bombardments on the Gaza Strip.
01:03The authorities say Israeli forces killed 68 civilians and wounded 362 others, bringing the death toll to 64,368.
01:10Authorities added that at least six civilians died of hunger and malnutrition due to the start of the war.
01:16The authorities say Israeli forces killed 68 civilians and wounded 362 others, bringing the death toll to 64,368.
01:22Authorities added that at least six civilians died of hunger and malnutrition due to the starvation campaign promoted by Zionism in the Palestinian territories.
01:35The Israeli genocide has left over 9,000 people missing, so authorities say the number of deaths could be higher than the current estimate.
01:43And in Palestine, thousands of Gaza residents have been forcibly displaced to the center and south of the territory by the Israeli occupation army.
01:57The displacement was a result of the military escalation and intense attacks on the Palestinian enclave in recent days.
02:03Israel justified the siege with an alleged operation to defeat the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas.
02:09Fear is growing among the residents of the Gaza Strip, who are forced to relocate to other territories with no guarantees of security and food.
02:21In this context, over 19,000 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank since the start of the Israeli aggression.
02:27Palestinian authorities said the number of women among those detained totals 585, along with more than 555 minors.
02:35They also affirmed that the Israeli prisons have held 18,800 Palestinians since the Israeli aggression began.
02:43The Palestinian Prisoners Club denounced the torture to which Palestinians are subjected in prisons
02:49and urged an investigation into the high death rate in Israeli detention facilities.
02:54The Palestinian Journalist Union reported the killing of at least 15 journalists in August 2025 during Israeli bombings of the Palestinian territories.
03:07The union also documented 86 violations and attacks against media professionals in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
03:13Since the ongoing genocide began in 2023, Israeli forces have killed 250 media professionals in total.
03:20The United Nations Human Rights Office emphasized the murder of communication workers in Gaza should prompt the world to act and demand that Israel be brought to justice.
03:30The government of Egypt condemned recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about his desire to displace the Palestinians from their land through the Rafa crossing.
03:47Through its foreign ministry, Egypt emphasized that Israel's claims represent a flagrant violation of international law that amounts to the crime of ethnic cleansing,
03:55and calling the international community to activate the mechanisms of accountability for these publicly declared crimes.
04:01It also emphasized that the country would not be complicit in the liquidation of the Palestinian cause or become a gateway for displacement and called for a ceasefire in Gaza,
04:10a full Israeli withdrawal and international support for the return of Palestinian authority to the territory, including control of the border crossings.
04:17After the Egyptian condemnation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Egypt has preferences in what he called an imprisonment of the enclave residents,
04:31assuring that the Palestinian population wishes to leave their territories.
04:35It is important to mention that the Zionist regime, since 1948, maintains positions to legally control the Palestinian population and territories.
04:43Let's remember that Netanyahu is accused of war crimes by the International Criminal Court after multiple lawsuits filed,
04:49among them the one of South Africa against him for the crime of genocide.
04:58And on Saturday, thousands of people protested in London, United Kingdom, against the government's decision to ban demonstrations by the Palestinian Action Group.
05:07Participants carried Palestinian flags, signs of support, and rejected the escalation of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
05:14The British police arrested protesters under strict security measures, considering the demonstration and violation of the country's anti-terrorism law.
05:22Saturday's demonstrations are part of a series of actions taking place in several cities worldwide against the advance of the Zionist genocide in Gaza.
05:31In other news, the United Nations confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces committed a number of crimes against humanity during the siege of the Sudanese city of El Fasher.
05:46According to a UN report, the armed group committed killing, sexual violence, looting, persecution and extermination.
05:53In addition, the UN report revealed that the Rapid Support Forces and their allies used hunger as a weapon of war by depriving civilians of essential supplies.
06:01The investigations were based on more than 200 interviews, statements from survivors of violence, and reports from social organizations.

12:23Studies by the World Customs Organization show that egg water and ports have become key points for exporting cocaine to Europe and the United States.
12:31The report detailed that the ports of Guayaquil, Machala and Pozorja are among the 39 areas with the highest drug seizures.
12:38In 2023, Guayaquil ranked third in the world for seizure of illicit drugs. Figures reflect how the port supports the financing of organized crime in the country.
12:48Analysis revealed that drug production in Latin America is approximately 4,000 tons, of which Ecuador contributes with 1,200 tons and Peru with 1,000 tons.
12:59More than 55% crosses the Pacific Ocean. And meanwhile, the United States and Ecuador are allegedly working to curb violence and drug trafficking.
13:08Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro warned that the entire country would respond with armed struggle to any attempt of aggression against the national territory in full defense of its stability and sovereignty.
13:23During the activation of the communal militia units, Maduro reiterated that the plan of the Venezuelan people is to live in peace.
13:30The president affirmed that Venezuela was territory free of cocaine growing and production, rejecting what he called a false narrative imposed by U.S. imperialism in an attempt to justify its interventionist aggression against Venezuela and the rest of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
13:49And the Venezuelan government rescued three Venezuelan children held hostage by U.S. immigration authorities through the planned return to the homeland.
13:59A total of 305 Venezuelan citizens returned to the Bolivarian country on flight number 65, which arrived at the International Airport of MaiketĂa,

14:43And in Argentina, the Ministry of Human Capital acknowledged that the audit of the Middle East's government claim to have carried out to justify the cessation of food assistance to soup kitchen does not exist.
14:59It occurred after a request for access to public information filed by the National Deputy for Buenos Aires, Natalia Zarracho, on May 16, 2024.
15:08This request came one day after the head of cabinet, Nicolas Posse, announced in Congress that nearly 50 percent of the soup kitchens were non-existent, based on an alleged audit.
15:17The Ministry of Human Capital admitted that the audit turns out to be non-existent.
15:22Claims based on the alleged audit served to suspend the supply of provisions to the soup kitchens, leaving millions of kilos of food undistributed, many of the verge of expiration.
15:32And U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the 2026 G20 summit will be held in Miami, marking the first time in nearly two decades that the country will host the gathering.
15:47The head of state said the agenda will focus on unleashing economic prosperity by unlocking affordable energy and pioneering new technologies.
15:55U.S. President confirmed that the summit will take place at the hit Trump National Dental Golf Course.
16:01The announcement drew comparisons to 2019, when Trump's earlier proposal to host the G7 at the same venue threw criticisms over conflicts of interest before the idea was abandoned.
16:12The summit will coincide with the celebrations marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
16:20And social and labor movements in the United States rallied to commemorate Labor Day.
16:29Protesters demanded improved working conditions and broader employment opportunities.
16:34On Saturday, hundreds of U.S. citizens marched through Manhattan to urge the government to address the unemployment crisis that has developed in recent months.
16:42Participants warned that farmers and construction workers are among the most affected sectors due to the intense immigration rate.
16:49They also accused the Trump administration of favoring large companies and disadvantages in the working class.
16:56In the United States, at least 475 workers from the Hyundai plant were detained in a raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of the Trump administration's anti-immigration policy.
17:12Most of the detainees are citizens of South Korea, whose government requested that U.S. authorities respect their rights.
17:20In this regard, the Department of Homeland Security alleged that the operation was conducted with a search warning for alleged illegal labor practices and other serious federal crimes.
17:30The individuals were confined in an ICE immigration detention center in Foxton, Georgia, pending the agency's determination for them.
17:45In other similar events, in the United States, federal immigration authorities and ICE agents carried out another operation at a shuttle factory in northern New York.
17:54State Governor Kathy Hochschul denounced that among those detained were parents of at least a dozen children who risked returning home from school to an empty house.
18:03The action described as frightened by the owner of the company, resulting in the detention of between 50 and 60 workers, most of whom were of Latin origin.
18:18U.S. President Donald Trump's anti-immigrant policy resulted in 14 migrants dead in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in his first year in office.
18:28According to official data, since 2019, 69 migrants died in ICE detention centers.
18:33Currently, over 200 detention centers in the United States house 61,000 migrants, nearly double the 37,000 recorded at the start of Trump's second term.
18:42Seventy percent of detainees are unsentenced and many face charges for minor offenses such as traffic violations.
18:49Reports describe overcrowding, lack of access to food, water and adequate medical care in detention centers.
18:55Despite ICE statements assuring safe, secure and humane environments, the migrants' deaths reflect serious flaws in the detention system.
19:12In Argentina, the international meeting Cultural Rights to Imagine Democracies and Citizenship takes place.
19:31The event which ends on September 6th emerges as a space for resistance, democratic imagination and community building
19:37in a context of increasing inequalities, political crisis and hate speeches around the world.
