00:27and activated emergency measures in the wake of Typhoon Wifa.
00:36And in Palestine, Israeli settlers shut off the water supply and occupied West Bank
00:40while Zionist forces promote hunger in Gaza.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:54We begin with the news.
01:07On Monday, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Venezuela unveiled evidence of the mistreatment of the 252 kidnapped migrants
01:14at the high-security second prison in El Salvador.
01:17During a press conference, Attorney General Tarek William Saab accused Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele of violating human rights,
01:26as several former detainees accounted for tortures that included various forms of physical and psychological abuse.
01:32Saab stressed on the severity of the aggressions, which constitute a crime against humanity,
01:38and announced the opening of a formal investigation of those responsible.
01:43Furthermore, the Attorney General called for the International Court of Justice and the United Nations
01:48to address the violations and take action against them.
01:52A large part of them, and this is very painful, thought about committing suicide.
02:05They had suicidal ideas during the whole period of detention as a result of the criminal actions carried out by Bukel and his corrupt guards.
02:18I would like to emphasize that everything I am saying here represents, without a doubt, due to the nature of these actions, crimes against humanity.
02:31In Venezuela, the unified command of the Bolivarian Revolution, Ben 25 Plus, also denounced the aggressions against the kidnapped migrants at the hands of the Salvadoran government.
02:42During a press conference, Ben 25 Plus head Jorge Rodriguez affirmed the nationals were held at a concentration camp just for being Venezuelans with no proven criminal record.
02:54This way, he added that they had been deceived by the manipulating campaigns of the Venezuelan opposition, who lobbied for them to be detained.
03:03In contrast, he prized the achievements of President Nicolás Maduro in the rescue, together with that of seven migrant children also held illegally by the U.S. government.
03:15In addition, Rodriguez also touched on the upcoming election of July 27th,
03:20assuring it will be a new historic victory for the Bolivarian Revolution.
03:29President Maduro promised it on that fateful day in March, when, in a way, only comparable to what Nazi Germany did against millions of Jews,
03:41against communists, against the LGBTQ community, only comparable to that, just because they were Venezuelans,
03:50252 compatriots were taken to a concentration camp.
03:56In other information, U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated his sixth month in office on his social media,
04:05yet his disapproval ratings for the first semester of his term reached 54%.
04:11Trump spent this Sunday publishing a barrage of conspiratorial ideas while claiming that he had made the United States the most respected country in the world.
04:21In reality, the burden of his image, according to opinion polls, has struck down the country's image worldwide.
04:28For example, in Mexico and Canada, they now see their neighbor as a national security and economic risk.
04:34In addition to tariffs, tax and federal cuts, and the savage hunt for migrants,
04:40the impact on individual citizens due to the cuts in key programs is reflected in the overwhelming drop in the President's popularity.
04:54Argentine President Javier Millet also faces negative ratings of 53% disapproval.
05:00Argentine experts say politics in the South American nation is defined by the negative,
05:06and that the anti-Millet tendency has surpassed anti-Kishnerism, which registers a little over 45%.
05:14Precisely, when comparing both trends, rejection for the current President grows while rejection for Kishnerism decreases.
05:22A Subban Cordoba firm study highlights that libertarian supporters decreased by 4.3%,
05:29and opposition to liberty advances increased by 7.1%.
05:34As for the electoral data, 38.3% of those polled say they would vote again for President Millet,
05:41but 52.8% said they would use their vote against him.
05:46TELASUR celebrates 20 years of being the voice of the people.
06:14In Honduras, its coverage of the 2009 coup d'edat marked the collective memory,
06:20showing the truth when censorship tried to silence it.
06:25TELASUR celebrates 20 years of its foundation by recalling historic moments that marked its journalistic work in the region.
06:35In Honduras, its coverage of the 2009 coup was key to making the democratic rupture visible to the eyes of the world.
06:42TELASUR played an important role in the coverage of the coup, because it helped dismantle the narrative of the international right-wing media,
06:55that wanted to make it known that what happened in Honduras was a constitutional succession, as the Honduran coup perpetrators made it look.
07:04The coverage of TELASUR and the denunciation of TELASUR when the Honduran media of the coup were transmitting comic strips,
07:10while the people were in the streets massacred, persecuted, tortured, repressed,
07:15TELASUR was sending those messages to the world and that coverage by TELASUR was what made it possible to dismantle the media narrative
07:22of the big international corporate media that had to accept that what happened in Honduras was a coup.
07:33On June 28, 2009, TELASUR broadcast lived the expulsion of President Manuel Zelia
07:42and the militarization of Tegu Zagalpa when many national media were silent out of fear or pressure.
07:48Its cameras showed the first protests in the streets and the repression by the armed forces.
07:53TELASUR, at that time, was the one who accompanied the people, was the one who went on the marches,
08:03was the one who also endured the tear gas bombs, just as many of us endured them at the time.
08:09Then the role that TELASUR took, the belligerents, was key. It was very important.
08:15The country's hegemonic media were paid to misinform the people.
08:20But TELASUR always kept up, was the one that was at the side, not only of a government that was given a coup,
08:27not only at the side of a person that was taken out of his country in pajamas,
08:32but at the side of the people that had taken to the streets asking for justice.
08:36Despite the blocking of its signal in Honduran territory, its journalists continued to report from the streets and airports,
08:50accompanying the people in their struggle for the return of constitutional order.
08:54TELASUR was one of the few international media that remained in the country during the most critical days.
09:00Very difficult. Very difficult because they were persecuted in the country.
09:08I mean, I don't remember her name, this comrade, a girl with light eyes. I don't remember her name.
09:17That comrade went out. She gave us the information and ran. She ran because she was persecuted.
09:24Because they didn't allow access to TELASUR. They didn't allow to report.
09:30And the work done by the journalists of this media in the country was difficult.
09:36They exposed their lives. They exposed their lives, and I think that the world recognized that.
09:51Repression. The repression of the government of Micheletti, and after the repression of the period of the narco-dictatorship
09:57of Juan Orlando Pepelo, right? Of course. It has been courageous the activity of the journalists
10:03who are making an effort to give, I insist to the world, a real vision from the Honduran people so that, well,
10:10so that the people of the world can have a real vision of the situation.
10:18Hoy, TELASUR conmemora dos décadas de existencia.
10:21Today, TELASUR commemorates two decades of existence reaffirming its commitment to the truth and to the people of Latin America.
10:28In Honduras, its coverage continues to be remembered as a symbol of news resistance in the face of censorship and silence imposed after the coup.
10:36For TELASUR, from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Karim Duarte.
10:43And now we have a short break coming up.

14:46three short of the 50 needed to maintain control of the upper chamber.

15:09The Chinese government rejected European Union sanctions against Chinese companies and financial institutions for alleged links to Russia's military operations in Ukraine.

16:46Welcome back to From the South.
16:48Israeli settlers shut off the water supply in occupied West Bank
16:52while Zionist forces promote starvation as a weapon of war in the Gaza Strip.
16:56A water company in occupied Jerusalem gobernate announced
17:00that the total suspension of water pumping in several localities in the West Bank
17:05as a result of new attacks by Israeli settlers against its infrastructures.
17:10Social movements warned that the sabotage against the water systems
17:13and the difficulties to restore them could deprive more than 70,000 Palestinians
17:19of their right to water services.

17:44in the central Gaza Strip in Palestine.
17:47According to reports, the Zionist army attacked the city of Der Albala

18:35They also warned that several victims are trapped under the rubble,
18:39so it is difficult to give an exact figure of the number of casualties.
18:43Since October 7, 2023, occupation troops have killed more than 58,890 Palestinians
18:51and wounded over 140,980, mostly women and children.
19:02Many things happened, including suffering, oppression, hunger, and death,
19:06and we expected that these massacres would stop,
19:08or that someone would stand with us and say,
19:10we are with you, or that someone would stop this Holocaust.
19:12But no action took place,
19:15and today we have reached a stage where we no longer have any expectations,
19:18and we no longer expect or wait for anything from anyone,
19:21not even from the world.
19:21This crime is a link in a chain of occupation crimes that terrorize the innocent
19:29and do not differentiate between a child, an old man, a woman, or a man.
19:38This brutal enemy does not abide by sharia laws or customs.

20:56the ship was sabotaged before sailing
20:58as a strategy to prevent humanitarian aid
21:00from arriving in the Gaza Strip.
21:03Crew members warned that Sionism
21:04might try to intercept the humanitarian ship
21:07after Israel ordered in June 2025
21:10to stop the Madeleine
