00:00.
00:30And a warm welcome again to the big match.
00:49Today, three First Division games coming your way,
00:52and our main match is the London Derby game between West Ham and Arsenal.
00:55And what a backup we have for you today.
00:5711 goals from the other two games.
01:00And one of them is Leeds against Everton.
01:02And this is what Peter Lorimer had to say about the Leeds performance yesterday.
01:05Without any doubt, the lads were superb today.
01:08In fact, in the second half, we were as good as we've been at any time over the last ten years, I would say.
01:13Well, some credentials there.
01:14One of the best Leeds performances in ten years, according to Peter Lorimer.
01:18And more goals as we bring you the excitement of Wolves against Manchester City.
01:22But first we go across to Upton Park, where the team's already on the field
01:25for the First Division game between West Ham and Arsenal.
01:27West Ham wanted to recover from that league-cut defeat at home against Spurs in midweek.
01:31Arsenal wanted to build on that victory against Manchester United.
01:34Let's check on the two teams.
01:36West Ham without Billy Bonds and Trevor Brookings.
01:38Now with Keith Coleman filling the number four spot.
01:40Billy Jennings getting the number ten shirt.
01:42Coleman will be playing at the back.
01:44McDowell will be playing in midfield.
01:46As for Arsenal, they're unchanged.
01:48And the man looking for celebration here is the West Ham number seven, Alan Taylor.
01:51It's a year to the week since he came from Rochdale, and what a year.
01:54For Arsenal, there's young Irish striker Frank Stapleton, who looked so good last week.
01:58The referee is Gordon Kew of Amersham, and now the crowd is waiting for the start.
02:04So Arsenal kick off, attacking the goal to our right.
02:07As indeed they did last week when they scored inside 13 seconds against Manchester United.
02:12Something that they're going to find very difficult to beat this afternoon.
02:15They're in the yellow strip with the blue shorts.
02:17West Ham in their customary claret and blue with white shorts.
02:20Irving Day for West Ham.
02:29Rice.
02:32Leary winning that above Jennings and sending Alan Ball on his way.
02:37A flick through there towards Stapleton.
02:39And some very good covering indeed by Keith Coleman.
02:43Good play by Coleman.
02:46No bonds or brooking in the side, but the strength of the club
02:48was very much in its reserves and Coleman did a really excellent job there.
03:23Tommy Taylor, Keith Robson, a delicate header there for Padden.
03:35Robson.
03:46Eleven minutes gone.
03:48Must be the fourth corner at least for West Ham.
03:50Padden with it. Another outswing with that left foot.
03:53Curling out towards the penalty spot.
03:55Tommy Taylor couldn't get ahead of it.
03:56Jennings couldn't get his foot to it.
03:57Now McDowell, left foot.
03:59Oh, and what a save there by Jimmy River.
04:05Well, a couple of them tried to get their heads together and couldn't.
04:07And it fell then quite invitingly to the feet of John McDowell.
04:10Hit it well and River was able to parry it.
04:13And finally it was clear.
04:20Storrey.
04:27Waiting patiently for the ball.
04:29Bryce behind him.
04:35Brian Kidd's backward header.
04:37Holland.
04:38It's not standing there between Robson and Taylor.
04:43Nelson.
04:44In the courtyard.
04:45Nath Peter did well, and and falls the respect to Graham for in the Adrian's conseguem.
04:47Game in front of Stav cohorts.
04:48Darn.
04:57Number one.
04:58I'm sure you won't miss a ticket.
04:59Mark gj record Presley- Medicine.
05:01That's four
05:06Certainly.
05:08Nice.
05:10Stapleton trying to play the short ball again to Kidd
05:14I know they're not really hitting it off so far this afternoon
05:18but here's Alan Ball
05:19now it's a hit again short
05:22and short again
05:23this time it might come off
05:24as Kidd gets it onto the left foot
05:25and causes Mervyn Day to make a very good save indeed
05:28but the real quality there was the interpassing
05:33between Frank Stapleton and Brian Kidd
05:35that eventually left the ball on the left foot of Brian Kidd
05:37a powerful shot
05:38and day in the way to save the goal
05:42so a corner for Arsenal
05:46got a good record here
05:49in fact they've lost only one of their last nine appearances here in the league
05:53and that was last season when they lost 1-0 to the Graham Padden goal
05:56here comes the corner
05:58Dow's header
06:01Story trying to turn it back again
06:04and Kidd might get in there with a header
06:05no disallowed
06:08disallowed
06:09and offside
06:11and no goal
06:13but up well
06:17put it past day
06:19but it doesn't count
06:20Robson's header back for that
06:27now can Taylor get there first
06:34but first of all it was meant for Billy Jennings
06:37I think Arsenal did as well until Taylor sprang onto the scene
06:40he'll be alright
06:42he'll be alright
06:42Padden's throw to Keith Robson
06:49back but over
06:52not a bad season for Keith Robson
07:00five goals so far
07:01a little bit of injury trouble as well
07:03back West Ham manager John Lyre was telling me he's not since the start of the season
07:09been able to field a fully representative side without injury niggling somewhere along the line
07:13there's the skipper doing a skipper's job again Alan Ball
07:25another free kick
07:30to West Ham
07:31not taken from exactly the right spot but near enough
07:35and obviously the spirit of the game so Gordon Q saw was that West Ham should reap some advantage from it
07:41so he allowed it to be taken, good to see
07:46Robson
07:51West Ham's throw
07:53Kevin Locke to Keith Robson
07:55Locke again
07:57hit in first time and hit in well
07:59Billy Jennings right in there
08:00Taylor there
08:01Goal given
08:02No offside
08:04Is it offside?
08:06No, it's a goal
08:09Well
08:11Pat Rice having a word with the linesman
08:13and the referee ordering him away
08:15Adam Taylor the scorer
08:16the goal given
08:17I'm bound to say to me
08:19he looks suspiciously offside
08:21and it's something you'll have to look at much more closely
08:24as the ball came in
08:25knotted down by Billy Jennings
08:27and he'd already made his move then
08:29for Taylor
08:30and whacked it past River
08:32West Ham 1
08:33Arsenal 0
08:34Arsenal 0
08:42Well that's the lead West Ham wanted
08:44there was a controversy over it
08:48certainly
08:49Taylor did look that little bit offside
08:51but here he goes now
08:52showing all that pace
08:53and causing O'Leary to give away the corner
08:55so Padden will take it
09:08Tommy Taylor is up
09:13and Rimmers catch
09:17Ball
09:18getting a little bit involved there
09:20he's obviously upset by that decision that allowed that goal
09:23he's got that tight-lipped look that he has so often when things are going badly
09:28and here he is again Alan Ball
09:32he'll fight his way out of that situation I'm sure
09:35offside this time
09:44Keith Robson
09:45Alan Taylor
09:46good ball again
09:47what a word he's playing some balls this Alan Taylor
09:50oh and that was clearly a superb goal by Robson
09:54lovely ball played by Alan Taylor
09:56hand-pouncing and hitting the early ball in low
09:59and Robson made enormous ground
10:01to get there with a diving header that went wide
10:04well
10:05not sure where that was supposed to be
10:09but the referee I think conscrued that it was
10:14six and one half dozen the other
10:18but Dowell obviously felt a little more aggrieved than that
10:21the fact the referee is going to have a word with Sammy Nilsson
10:24the referee is going to have a word with Sammy Nilsson

10:49and
10:52hear
10:53Whit
10:55Dow, good throw
11:09Robson, good backward header
11:10Jennings trying to climb for it
11:12Oh and a good save there
11:15And a very good one indeed
11:17By Rimmer from Billy Jennings
11:19Jennings hit that one well
11:23Rimmer couldn't have seen it to the very last
11:25But still managed to get in the way again
11:27Padden
11:31Doing a tremendous amount of work
11:33Graham Padden in the middle of the field
11:35For West Ham this afternoon
11:36Finding Taylor
11:38Good cross again by him
11:41Towards Jennings and it'll come for Robson
11:43It's still my come for Robson
11:45Oh
11:45And in the end Nelson can tend to put it behind
11:49Another of the qualities
11:53Of Alan Taylor
11:54He does seem to become
11:55Now such a good crosser of the ball
11:57Several times this afternoon
11:59And that was another case in point
12:00It fell to Robson
12:02And in the end Robson could make nothing of it
12:04So Padden now trying his luck on that side of the field
12:13With a corner
12:13Played short to Alan Taylor
12:16All right
12:17Let's go
12:21Also
12:21Kid
12:40Powling, Storey, come to Stapleton, cut out by Lok, Stapleton again, now Armstrong, Nelson
12:59coming in hard, oh some trouble going on there off the ball between Kidd and Coleman and the
13:11linesman being called in I think by referee Q to have a word as to what was going on there,
13:16I confess I didn't see all of that, it was off the ball.
13:18Oh, linesman's given his version and now Kidd and Coleman get the referee's verdict, which
13:33is a sharp talking to and no more, the crowd don't feel happy about that, they felt that
13:40action should have been taken of some sort, and there goes the whistle for half time,
13:48a gutsy first half, good local derby stuff, and a lot of skilful stuff as well, West Hamming
13:54having the better of the game and getting the one goal that mattered, controversial though
13:59it was, Arsenal claiming that it was offside, scored by Alan Taylor, the number seven, Arsenal
14:04having had a goal disallowed for offside by Brian Kidd, a lot more to come in the big match
14:08this afternoon, a half-time score here at Upton Park, West Ham 1, Arsenal 0, we'll be right
14:14back with you with the second half.
14:18Welcome back to Upton Park, West Ham now, attacking the goal to our right, that one goal up, scored
14:31by Alan Taylor.
14:34Arsenal with a not very impressive away record, they've only won once away in the league since
14:42last December, that's 11 months, and that was at Sheffield United earlier this season.
14:48Well there, this goal down, and here's Kidd.
14:52Story, well it might come for Story again, now Tommy Taylor, and it might come for Story again, but here's Holland.
15:07Jennings, tried a little touch there for Holland again, but it fell for Sammy Nelson, and now for Alan Ball.
15:19Staple on after this, but Locke, a little bit of luck there, but I think Locke has played well and consistently enough to deserve it.
15:30Well that time, by O'Leary, on Jennings, and Alan Taylor quickly taking the free kick for West Ham, and it's with Pat Holland.
15:43McDowell chipping it on, look at this running by Holland as well.
15:46Oh, and a nice little pass turned inside there, and it very nearly fell for Billy Jennings, and the first genuine move in the second half there, very nearly bringing West Ham a second goal.
15:58Beautiful play, right the way through, and in the end Jennings couldn't quite get there to finish it.
16:06For the corner for West Ham, Graham Paddle's going to take it.
16:09Deep run this time towards Tommy Taylor, but he nudged there.
16:19The Arsenal defender as he made his run for that course.
16:36Played for Brady.
16:39And now for Nelson.
16:46Howling.
16:48Oh, a nice little chip there.
16:50By Kidd.
16:58Howling.
17:02McDowell.
17:04Played on for Robson.
17:06Chipped in again towards McDowell.
17:08Well, our story did remarkably well there for Arsenal.
17:14O'Leary.
17:17Again picking up a little bit now in this second half.
17:21As it goes back again to Jimmy River.
17:23Travelled by Stapleton.
17:37Another free kick to West Ham.
17:39Tommy Taylor to Keith Robson.
17:48Ball getting in there.
17:51Hasn't had quite the influence on this game, Alan Ball, that he had on last week's.
17:54There's Armstrong with the ball played through nicely weighted there for Frank Stapleton.
17:59And now for Brian Kidd.
18:00This looks better for Arsenal.
18:01Getting a good cross in as well.
18:06And Brady.
18:07Oh, and a great save.
18:13Lovely move there by Arsenal.
18:16Kidd swinging that ball in from the right.
18:18And West Ham's defence was always under pressure.
18:20As it finally came out from Brady.
18:22Guided it.
18:23And a brilliant save by Dane.
18:26There's the cross coming in again.
18:28Oh.
18:30In fact, there was a foul.
18:31Well, that's woken up the crowd a little bit.
18:39They've gone to sleep just a fraction with West Ham on this 1-0 lead.
18:43And that shows you how vulnerable a 1-0 lead can be.
18:47And of course, West Ham, if they want to keep up their challenge towards the top of the first division,
18:51taking two points from every home game is absolutely imperative.
18:55Arsenal's still very much in it.
19:10Bimey all over him.
19:11It must be a free kick, yes.
19:16Just for a spell in the first half, it looked as though the game might not necessarily get out of hand,
19:22but become just a little too tough.
19:25In fact, for the Derby game, it's been played in a very good humour indeed.
19:31Lobson now trying to get Padden away.
19:34Padden really has covered just about every blade on this ground.
19:42He hasn't got quite the legs for it, but he had enough to hustle Arsenal into an error and give away this corner.
19:55Oh, what a good guy!
19:57Ronald Taylor right in there.
19:59Donald right in there.
20:01Rimmer will gather.
20:05He hasn't got a kick with his left foot.
20:09At least hopefully so.
20:11He'll throw it.
20:11could have been in trouble there
20:16Kidd
20:17Nelson
20:20O'Leary
20:23about six minutes to go
20:25really the sort of time when Arsenal
20:28have got to risk everything and push men forward
20:30all the more
20:31Howling
20:33West Ham will want to
20:36preserve this one goal lead but now they're right
20:38in there now Stableton with a chance
20:39and he's just wide
20:42that really was a good chance
20:46there for Stableton, the ball fell
20:48nicely to him on his left foot
20:50and he was about
20:52a foot wide
20:53and there can't be
20:57very much of it
20:57it looks as though the one
21:00controversial goal
21:01is going to be the one that decides it
21:04Irving Day
21:06with what could be the last goal kick
21:08Indeed it is
21:13as the whistle goes
21:14and West Ham have picked up two more
21:16precious points
21:17as they bid for that
21:19Football League Championship
21:20having beaten Arsenal by a goal to nil
21:22the goal scored by Alan Taylor
21:24A disappointing second half particularly
21:28after a rousing first half
21:30and a full-time scoreline then
21:32at Upton Park
21:33West Ham won
21:34Arsenal nil
21:35And of course a lot more to come on the big match
21:38let me remind you
21:39goals galore
21:40as Leeds face Everton
21:41and Wolves meet Manchester City
21:42but first of all of course
21:43we've got to clear up the controversial points
21:45from West Ham yesterday
21:46why was an Arsenal goal disallowed
21:48and in spite of all those Arsenal protests
21:50why was the West Ham goal given
21:52first of all the disallowed goal for Arsenal
21:54which I thought first of all
21:55was for offside
21:56but we can see here now
21:57as Peter Storey crosses this ball in here
22:00at the moment of impact
22:01Brian Kidd on the far side
22:02in the light shirt
22:03is in an onside position
22:04so why was it disallowed
22:06this perhaps is the answer
22:08as Brian Kidd climbs
22:09he clambers all over Frank Lampard
22:11and although he heads it past Mervyn Day
22:14Gordon Kew absolutely right
22:16to disallow it
22:17so disappointment there for Arsenal
22:19and their fans
22:20but of course the major controversial point
22:22of the whole game
22:23was that West Ham winning goal
22:25scored by Alan Taylor
22:26why was that one allowed
22:27well as Kevin Locke crosses it
22:29and Billy Jennings rises so superbly
22:32in that Arsenal penalty area
22:33watch Alan Taylor
22:34clearly there
22:35it seems in an offside position
22:38and it would seem that
22:39Arsenal's protests were justified
22:40Taylor is becoming so familiar now
22:43for West Ham fans
22:44cracking that past
22:46Jimmy Rimmer
22:47for a goal that proved to be the winner
22:49but as we look at it again
22:50from another angle
22:51let's look at something else now
22:53as Keith Robson plays that ball
22:54for Kevin Locke
22:55I want you to watch this time
22:56the referee
22:57and I'm wondering if
22:58there was a suspicion of doubt
22:59in his mind
23:00about Alan Taylor
23:01being in an offside position
23:02because as Billy Jennings rises here
23:04even before the ball is in the net
23:06watch the referee now
23:07it seems to me
23:09that the whistle is in his mouth
23:10as though he suspects
23:12that there is something wrong with it
23:13but the goal was given
23:14and I think it's worth looking
23:16yet again
23:17from that same angle
23:18behind the goal
23:19because I think you can find
23:20something else
23:20that might suggest
23:21that after all
23:22it could have been
23:23a valid goal
23:24and it is
23:25as Kevin Locke
23:26crosses the ball
23:26whether or not
23:28George Armstrong
23:28who is challenging him
23:29puts everybody else on side
23:31here we come now
23:32here's Kevin Locke
23:34about to cross the ball
23:35watch George Armstrong
23:36challenging him now
23:37and I'm wondering
23:37if the momentum
23:38of George Armstrong there
23:39takes him near enough
23:40to the byline
23:41to suggest that
23:42even though the ball
23:43comes into the centre here
23:44and Billy Jennings
23:44as we've seen before
23:45heads it on
23:46whether Armstrong
23:47is perhaps near enough
23:48that byline
23:49to have played
23:51Alan Taylor on side
23:52that's the only clue
23:54that I can think
23:54and I'm not at all sure
23:56that it will entirely
23:57satisfy the Arsenal fans
23:58but I think that
23:59that might suggest
24:00that the goal
24:01was a valid one
24:02I'm quite sure
24:02that Alan Ball
24:03and company
24:03would disagree with that
24:05nonetheless though
24:06I got another view
24:07on that West Ham goal
24:08and what better than
24:09to get it from the man
24:10who scored it
24:11of course
24:11Alan Taylor
24:12what was his view
24:13of the West Ham winner
24:15well when I made the run
24:16I was definitely
24:19in an onside position
24:22and then when it went
24:24in the back of the net
24:25they started to appeal
24:26did you have any doubts
24:29at all in your mind
24:30when that appeal
24:31went on
24:31I didn't myself
24:32but when Bill Jennings
24:34edited it down
24:34I just turned it
24:35so whether I was
24:37in offside position
24:37or not I couldn't say
24:38well it counted
24:39and that's really what matters
24:40the referee said
24:41it was okay
24:41it's been a remarkable year
24:43because it's a year
24:43to this weekend
24:44of course
24:44that you came down
24:45from Rochdale
24:46and not very many people
24:47knew about you
24:47did they
24:47that's right
24:48yeah
24:48a lot of people
24:49know about you now
24:50well
24:51when you look back
24:53on that year
24:53Alan
24:53what are the things
24:54that stick most
24:55in your mind
24:56I think they're running
24:58I think they're running
24:58the FA Cup
24:59mainly
25:00but I've enjoyed myself
25:03down at West Ham
25:04in what way
25:05I get on well
25:07with the lads
25:08they're always helping me
25:10because they're more
25:11experienced than what I am
25:12and I've learnt a lot
25:13in the year
25:13Alan Taylor
25:15of West Ham
25:16who had an excellent game
25:17and in spite of that
25:17controversial goal
25:18let me also add
25:19that I thought
25:19that Gordon Q
25:20the referee
25:20had a very fine game
25:21as well
25:22he always seemed
25:22to be in sympathy
25:23with it
25:23giving it every chance
25:24to flow
25:25and that of course
25:25is what we like to see
25:27let's have some more
25:37flowing action now
25:38what fine action it is
25:39as we swing over
25:40to the Midlands
25:40for the match between
25:41Wolves
25:42who are having a dreadful season
25:43and Manchester City
25:44who in the last couple
25:45of months
25:45have really begun
25:46to pick up a bit of form
25:47stand by then
25:48as the pictures come
25:49from ATV
25:50the commentators
25:51Hugh Johns
25:51Wolves are in the dark shorts
25:53Clements
25:58oh that was a bad one
26:09as far as Barnes
26:10that's really
26:12saw Wolves in trouble
26:13Cole finally
26:16tied it up
26:16which was just as well
26:17Mike Bailey
26:20Kindon unmarked
26:21in the middle of the park
26:22away from Watson
26:25couldn't keep it though
26:26oops got it
26:27Royal
26:28to it
26:29Munro takes it out
26:31Steve Daly
26:32this ball fairly flying
26:35from one end of the park
26:36to the other
26:37oh and the shot
26:41coming for Kendon
26:42coming for Kendon
26:42oh what a cracker
26:44what a save
26:45well that Manchester City
26:49defence was caught
26:50in all kinds of trouble
26:51when the cross came over
26:52looked as though
26:53Hibbert was going to have a bang
26:54but he couldn't
26:55Kendon did
26:56and that was a wonderful
26:57reflex action save
26:58from Corrigan
26:58Hartford
27:00Royal winning it back
27:02for Manchester City
27:03Hartford
27:05Bailey
27:08won that well
27:09Watson gets it clear
27:13again
27:13to Hartford
27:14oops
27:15long
27:16for Barnes
27:17this could be useful
27:19Royal and Tewitt
27:20tanking up
27:21to get into the box
27:22taking off
27:24Morris Bailey
27:25crikey how did he swing
27:30that one across
27:31the face of the goals
27:32for a moment
27:32it looked as though
27:32it was going behind
27:33and there it was
27:34right across the face
27:35of the goals
27:36and what a bit of luck
27:38for Wolves
27:39that the Manchester City
27:41didn't have anybody
27:41following up
27:42to knock that easy
27:43chance in
27:44to it
27:46and that's
27:47oops
27:47sorry
27:50called it wrong
27:50that was Doyle
27:51and handle off the line
27:55and the penalty is given
27:57so a chance now
28:01for Manchester City
28:02greatly in many respects
28:05against the play

28:07that corner from Tewitt
28:09smartly struck
28:11by Mike Doyle

28:30of the season
28:30it's 1-0 Manchester City
28:32well what a dramatic
28:35series of incidents
28:36the corner from Tewitt
28:38the header from Doyle
28:40the handling on the line
28:41the penalty from Tewitt
28:44hitting the crossbar

29:15save that was
29:16Joe Royal

30:12Manchester City
30:13well that was an awful lot

30:16the cross ball
30:17from Tewitt
30:18Royal knocking it back
30:19Hartford trying it
30:20Wolves thought it was

31:08Barnes to take the corner
31:18Peter Barnes
31:20Doyle coming up near post
31:24tripped by the referee
31:26Hartford to score
31:27what an incredible goal
31:33I have never seen
31:34anything like that
31:34in my life
31:35Pearce
31:37absolutely thunderstruck
31:39and the referee played
31:40a significant part in that
31:42and he understands it
31:45the corner comes swinging in
31:47referee tripped Doyle
31:49everybody thought that
31:51play would be stopped
31:52ball drops to Hartford
31:53he kicks it in the back of the net
31:54hits 3-0
31:55and power breaks out
31:58for Manchester City
31:59Tewitt tanking away
32:01to his right
32:02that ball given too much
32:06so McCall was always going to be the winner
32:08Mike Bailey
32:14Joe Royal behind him
32:15and a break on for Tewitt
32:16with the speed goal
32:17number 4
32:18yes it is
32:20well there you are
32:23Wolves absolutely punished
32:24a very stupid
32:25a very stupid bit of defensive thoughtlessness
32:28the goal in fact won by the challenge of Joe Royal
32:34Dennis Tewitt
32:37denied the penalty early on
32:40or denied scoring the penalty early on
32:42in fact gets his goal
32:43goal number 30 in this season
32:45and just two minutes left to play
32:49a tragic scoreline for Wolves to face now
32:524-0 down at home
32:53so the black clouds really settling
32:56over Molyneux and Bill McGarry
32:58now let's move on to more goals
33:08and thrilling action
33:09as we bring you Leeds United
33:11against Everton at Ellen Road
33:12Leeds moving up all the time
33:14Everton now with an 18-year-old goalkeeper
33:16Drew Brand
33:17making his first league appearance for them
33:19the pictures come from Yorkshire Television
33:20the commentator's Keith Macklin
33:22Leeds in white
33:23McKenzie with three defenders
33:25free kick on the edge
33:27again a case of
33:34remember the referee has to make a split second decision
33:37and he looked right enough
33:47inches outside the box
33:53free kick to Leeds
33:55Lorimer
34:00yes the deflection
34:04Lorimer's ninth of the season
34:10watch the deflection from this shot
34:13driven hard and low
34:15off the outside of the leg
34:19Lyons
34:22Hamilton
34:23Latchford over the top of him
34:26and Everton looking pretty dangerous now
34:28good spell of football from Everton
34:31good cross just over the top of Latchford
34:37Jorath in possession for Leeds
34:49Jorath getting away from Buckley
34:57square to Cherry
34:58Frank Gray
35:04there are men in the middle
35:07Kenyon and McKenzie
35:09banged away by Lyons
35:11throw to Leeds United
35:14quickly taken by Rini to Jorath
35:16down for Clark
35:21Clark round his man
35:23two
35:24Clark's finishing when he's in this mood
35:29is as clinical as a surgeon's knife
35:32it was Lyons who fell and gave him his chance
35:38and Clark really misses them like that
35:412-0
35:41back header by Latchford
35:50found Telfer
35:50Telfer going well past Frank Gray
35:54and all
35:55is that a penalty
35:56could well be
35:57yes
35:57Madeley gave it away
35:59I don't think there's a lot of doubt about this
36:03Telfer's past Gray
36:04now watch Madeley's tackle
36:06now the men who have scored from penalties for Everton this season
36:22are not on the field
36:23Smallman has hit one
36:25and Jones has hit one
36:26and neither of them is playing
36:27so who's going to take it
36:28the ball has not been returned
36:35yes it has now
36:36with five minutes before half time
36:38a penalty to Everton
36:39and in the absence of Smallman and Jones
36:42it's David Clements to take it
36:44the crowd booing
36:46but
36:47there looked a pretty clear case for the penalty
36:502-1
37:00David Harvey saying he wasn't ready
37:02David Harvey is saying to the referee
37:04he wasn't ready for that
37:05he was picking bits and pieces
37:06now Harvey doesn't look quite ready
37:09but Clements certainly is
37:112-1
37:13now Mr Burns going across to have a word with the linesman who may well take Harvey's side
37:21yes Harvey has made his point
37:27David Harvey was picking bits out of the goal mouth when Dave Clements took that
37:36and the linesman interceded on his behalf
37:38so Dave Clements has got to keep a cool head
37:41and try to do it again
37:42and as Clements warped up them
37:53Billy Bremner had a word with him
37:55and one wonders whether a war of nerves is going on here
37:57the crowd booing
38:04a retaken penalty
38:06a lot of pressure
38:07on the Irish temperament
38:10of Dave Clements
38:11but he wins
38:13he got through it
38:14it is 2-1
38:16and there's no argument this time
38:17and that penalty took two and a half minutes to take
38:27now Rini
38:31Cherry
38:35down for McKenzie
38:38and it's Kenyon
38:40didn't have enough place to go behind
38:45Kenyon
38:48Jorath
38:49into touch
38:49one minute
38:52to half time
38:53plus of course any added time
38:57Sargent
39:01flick
39:04beautiful flick
39:05beautifully taken
39:05from Latchford
39:06by Dawson
39:07Dobson
39:08Madely
39:10Cherry
39:12dropping for Kenyon
39:14Kenyon
39:16and his
39:17shinscrake
39:19here's
39:19Lodimer
39:20Lodimer getting past
39:21Clements
39:22Lodimer goes down
39:23penalty
39:24another penalty
39:25this time to Leeds
39:27Clements
39:30Clements
39:31Russell by Lodimer
39:32watch again
39:33the tackle
39:33Mr. Bairns
39:40awards
39:41his second penalty
39:42on the stroke of half time
39:44Roger Kenyon
39:53Roger Kenyon is I think
39:56the man down
39:56Roger Kenyon is I think the man down
40:00Let's see what happens here, now Mackenzie caught Kenyon, the penalty is about to be
40:21taken, poor Andrew Brown, what an afternoon, Lorimer's the man taking it, 3-1,
40:30no-go keep again, the land could stop those.
40:44Clark, Jorath, got that back from Hamilton, Eddie Gray,
40:49Madeleine,
40:56Rini,
40:59that was off Kenyon,
41:06Jorath,
41:11Clement's going for it, so to his Lorimer,
41:18Rini,
41:21to Jorath,
41:23cross up for Clark, and Eddie Gray, Brands dropped it, oh what a save, Eddie Gray, Eddie Gray again, this time it's in, it took a long time, but it's Eddie Gray, first goal of the season, and Leeds United's fourth of the game.
41:38The young goalkeeper here made two saves, there's the first one, what's this one, good save, and Eddie Gray had two points.
41:53Mackenzie, trying to flick it past side into the obstructed.
41:57Blot him up, past Clements, and Oxen.
42:12Free kick has been awarded.
42:18Floated across for Kenyon's header, a corner.
42:34A corner.
42:45Corner to Leeds United, keeping up the pressure.
42:48Clark!
42:49Really, this young man, Brand, may have been beaten four times.
42:56No club could wish for better service from a goalkeeper.
43:00Clark's header, pinpoint, terrific save.
43:04It'll be taken again.
43:17Well, Andrew Brand may feel that he's been thrown into the lion's den this afternoon, but he really has pulled off some terrific saves in this half, and he may be called upon to save another any second now.
43:31There!
43:32Clark!
43:33There!
43:34Clark!
43:35Five!
43:36Grant punched it out to the feet of Clark.
43:37Clark did the rest.
43:42Lorimer, mistiming that for Clements.
43:43Leeds now, having got five, no need to burst any blood vessels.
43:49Derekot!
43:50Good flick for Latchford!
43:51Two!
43:52Five-two!
43:53Bob Latchford, who sent such a big season, gets his fifth goal of the season.
43:54This down!
43:55The go-off!
43:56It's a big goal!
43:57It's the goal!
43:58You've got to go.
43:59One-two!
44:00A big goal!
44:01Wow!
44:02He's got to go!
44:03There!
44:04The go-off!
44:05The go-off!
44:06The go-off!
44:07The go-off!
44:08The go-off!
44:09The go-off!
44:10The go-off!
44:11The go-off!
44:12The go-off!
44:13The go-off!
44:14The go-off!
44:15Big season gets his fifth goal of the season in the 39th minute.
44:22D'Arricot, Hamilton letting it go through,
44:26clipped through for Latchford,
44:29and the man who was dropped by Billy Bingham
44:30because he couldn't score goals gets one.
44:33Brilliant, and that's why Peter Lorimer told us
44:35that it was one of the best Leeds performances for ten years.
44:38That's it, three games, 12 goals, a bit of controversy,
44:42some wonderful skills all packed into the last hour.
44:44Well, also in the last hour, we've seen a few penalties.
44:47Now, you'd think that there could be nothing more straightforward
44:49than firing the ball in from 12 yards, wouldn't you?
44:52But just consider what we've seen today.
44:54Of course, when Peter Lorimer takes a penalty for Leeds,
44:56it's usually straightforward enough.
44:59The penalty is about to be taken for Andrew Brown.
45:02What an afternoon. Lorimer's the man taking it.
45:063-1.
45:08But we've also seen a goalkeeper who wasn't ready for a penalty.
45:122-1.
45:15David Harvey saying he wasn't ready.
45:17David Harvey is saying to the referee he wasn't ready for that.
45:19Now, Mr Burns going across to have a word with the linesman
45:22who may well take Harvey's side.
45:28Yes.
45:28And when he was ready, it made no difference at all.
45:32A crowd booing, a retaken penalty,
45:36a lot of pressure on the Irish temperament of Dave Clements.
45:41But he wins, he got through it.
45:43And we've seen how Manchester City needed two men
45:46to score from the spot.
45:49And with the ball, and Hartford has scored it.
45:53Asa Hartford scores his third goal this season.
45:56It's won nothing, Manchester City.
45:57The fan of the Navy.
46:00A giant nice little star.
46:01Oh, Jesus Christ.
46:15The guy said he won!
46:16See you next time.
46:18Let's get started.
