00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:30Good evening, three games to show you on tonight's Match of the Day with goals, grudges and the odd bit of controversy thrown in.
00:57Troy Deeney and Rob Green with us for all the talking points and there are plenty of those.
01:02For the very first time on Match of the Day, we head to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton's brand new home at Bramley Moor Dock on Liverpool's waterfront.
01:10Brighton were the first visitors. Guy Mowbray is your commentator.
01:15It might take a while for some Evertonians to get used to their new home by the water.
01:21Change can be difficult. It will be after 133 years at Goodison Park.
01:26But first impressions often linger. And this place is mightily impressive from every angle.
01:35You couldn't say that about Everton's first performance of the season at Leeds on Monday, with David Moyes reacting by making two changes to his team today.
01:43Charlie Alcaraz and Beto make way for Jack Grealish and Cherno Berry, both starting for the Toffees for the first time.
01:51Just one change, Brighton, who threw away two points late on in Game 1 against Fulham.
01:57Jorginho Rutte has been ruled out, so it's over to the experience of Danny Welbeck, a scorer in his final two starts at Goodison.
02:05It's an I was there day, but will the match itself be one to remember?
02:15Jai skips through, keeps going despite being impeded.
02:20The shot easily saved by Verbruggen, but Ilymenen Jai sparkling from the start.
02:28This was beautiful.
02:30Could have been a free kick, but well played Ilymenen Jai, keeping his feet and going for goal.
02:37And the boys focused on the job in hand.
02:40I was saying this week, he was looking forward to coming to the new stadium as a supporter, and then got off at the Everton job again.
02:47Win-win.
02:49Tarkovsky only watched that all the way, and he's missed it.
02:51And it's allowed Mitoma in.
02:53Mitoma has a go, and hits the top of the bar.
03:00Magnificent attempt.
03:01And James Tarkovsky is mightily relieved that that was just a fraction too high, and only just.
03:08That's technique.
03:10Kind of deserved a goal.
03:17Fabian Herzler looks in animated mood.
03:20I think he's trying to counter the atmosphere that his team are up against here.
03:24Making his own voice heard.
03:26Making it clear to his players that they're here as well.
03:31Tony Bloom, the Brighton owner, is here as well.
03:36Van Hecker.
03:38Brighton starting to look good.
03:40Viva.
03:42Minta has been overtaken by Idrissa KarnakΓ©, who's gone too far.
03:45Minta across.
03:46Oh, that had to be in.
03:49Danny Welbeck has somehow popped it over.
03:54Mitoma hit the bar when he had no right to do.
03:57Welbeck missed the target when he had no right to do.
03:59Barry left on the floor.
04:06N'Jai then skipped past a couple once more.
04:09Dewsbury Hall's taken it down and finds Grealish, and this is really good for Everton.
04:14Brighton back in numbers.
04:15Grealish, and it's in from N'Jai.
04:18Grealish, and it's in from N'Jai.
04:25There it is.
04:26The historic first Premier League goal at Everton's new home.
04:37Exactly what Jack Grealish has been brought to this football club for.
04:41Put in a lovely delivery, and invited anybody, anyone would do in blue to attack it.
04:48Ilyam and N'Jai did that.
04:51And if you thought this place was loud before the start.
04:55Fantastic noise.
04:58And in the midst of the celebrations, a moment of lovely symmetry as well.
05:03Scorer of the last goal at Goodison Park.
05:07Scorer of the first goal, down by the river.
05:1326 minutes played, and applause rings around the ground in memory of Michael Jones,
05:19the Everton fan from Kirby, who tragically died two years ago this month.
05:24He was working on construction of this great site.
05:28And it's a nice touch for Everton Football Club.
05:33Here's Mithoma.
05:41Beliba.
05:44The Hecker.
05:45Has a goal, and hits the post with Pigford struggling.
05:48De Kuyper seen off it by Tarkovsky, who's stayed down after the challenge.
05:56And the free kick goes to Everton.
05:59A why not moment from the centre-back.
06:02Struck Grealish.
06:03That's why it's spun away from the palm of Jordan Pigford.
06:09You can see here, Tarkovsky's there first, then takes a whack from Maxim de Kuyper.
06:16And Hecker looking to find Minta in the first few seconds of the time added on.
06:21Welbeck has it now.
06:22A very stretch, but can't keep the ball as a result.
06:26Tarkovsky was hesitant, and has given the ball to O'Reilly, and Pigford has saved him.
06:33Tarkovsky bites his shirt, hangs his head, and thanks Jordan Pigford profusely.
06:39Dug out of a huge hole that was all of his own digging.
06:45Huge let off Everton.
06:49Huge.
06:55Giant.
06:56Barry.
06:57Nobody in the middle for him yet.
07:00He's going to have to think about this a little differently.
07:02Good spot to see Idrissa Garner-Gay, and he's picked out Grealish.
07:08Back to Garner.
07:10Garner's left fly!
07:11Oh, wow!
07:15That's ripped home!
07:17What a stunner from James Garner.
07:31And it's another assist for Jack Grealish, one of his easier ones.
07:36A rocket from Garner.
07:38Everton 2, Brighton 0.
07:44The housewarming is going as they planned it.
07:47Garner's up.
07:56A hair cut.
08:01Jai, just lost out, Mitoma has it, he's found Ayari.
08:05Ayari trying to shoot, straight against the gloves of Pigford.
08:12De Kuyper, puts the brakes on, Mitoma will help him out now.
08:17Didn't help himself.
08:25Another shot that ideally for Brighton could have done with a deflection
08:29just to take it away from Jordan Pickford.
08:35A little glum, Fabian Herzler.
08:41Looks like being just one point from Brighton's opening two games.
08:46Mitoma.
08:49Really good ball outside of the boot, here's Minter.
08:53Charged down.
08:55And the referee says penalty, charged down with the hands of Dewsbury Hall in the view of Stuart Atwell.
09:05Hand in front of his chest, it's kind of clamped in, it does hit his hand,
09:09but what are you supposed to do, just get out of the way?
09:12So Brighton might have a way back.
09:16Matt O'Reilly scored from the spot against Fulham last week.
09:20Scored from the spot on the final day of last season at Spurs,
09:22but he's given this one away to Danny Welbeck.
09:26Is he good enough to beat Pickford from the spot?
09:28And get Brighton back into this game.
09:31Contest back on if this one goes in.
09:38Well, they're taking plenty of time.
09:40And saved by Pickford!
09:42Anticipated it, read it, saved it.
09:51There aren't any better.
09:52Saved two out of two in the Premier League last season.
09:56From Anthony Gordon and from Erling Haaland.
09:59Well, now it's Danny Welbeck denied.
10:01Everton two, Brighton nil it remains.
10:04There's Jordan Pickford's homework.
10:08All taped up around the water bottle.
10:11No choppy waters on day one at the new home for Everton.
10:17All is happy and calm.
10:19All is happy and calm.
10:22In amongst many good performances, I've got to mention Jack Grealish,
10:25because there he is on his home debut and two assists.
10:28I mean, that's just a glimpse, I guess, of what he is going to bring you.
10:31Well, that's what we've been hoping for and waiting for.
10:33We want to add that extra quality and that's what we're trying to do.
10:36We're still improving.
10:38Don't think we're there.
10:40We've got a completely makeshift back four at the moment.
10:42So I think they deserve a lot of credit for getting a result against Brighton today.
10:46It's not only about creating a chance and scoring the goal,
10:49it's also about having a defensive mindset and trying to defend together.
10:53And in some moments we didn't do it when we concede the goals,
10:57and there we have to improve.
11:00I didn't want to look on my bottle because I know people are out there
11:03gunning for it to be banned, but it's my trick, so I'll keep doing it.
11:07Well, I think we saw a glimpse of your bottle in close-up,
11:10and I think you said Welbeck 50% right and 50% left.
11:12So is there still an element of just anticipation?
11:16Yeah, but you haven't seen the little bit above, have you?
11:18The little detail above yet?
11:20Yeah, I had keepers left, so I've always never changed my mind.
11:23You said this week that had you not been offered the job,
11:26you would have been back here at some point as a supporter watching games.
11:29How was it as a manager and supporter all in one on day one?
11:32It was brilliant, because there is history today that it's the first game
11:36and somebody will be standing interviewing a manager here in a hundred years' time.
11:39You know, we'll all be well gone, but the point is we started it off today,
11:44and I hope that the history of the future is going to be a lot to be talked about.
11:49Well, they started it off well, and it looks absolutely stunning, doesn't it?
11:53Lucky Stadium, what a difference six days makes.
11:55Well, it was a really good day for Everton, and a really good day for Jack Grealish.
12:00He brought balance, and he brought width to the side,
12:02and it's something that they were really short of last week against Leeds.
12:07And you're looking at Jack Grealish, and his experience that he can use out on the pitch,
12:11out on the left-hand side is where he played today.
12:14Going back six days, two against Leeds, and those are the two wingers in there.
12:19Very narrow, and you're left with six players in such a condensed area there.
12:24Against Leeds, it's really easy to defend, and when they do go wide,
12:28David Moyes touched on it.
12:30They've got a centre-back on the right-hand side here,
12:33and O'Brien on the left, who's a centre midfielder,
12:35right-footed centre midfielder at left-back.
12:38And the running lines get cut off, the passing lanes get cut off,
12:41and the options just aren't there.
12:42We cut through to this week, Ndai and Grealish.
12:45Gives them so much space, gives them so much width.
12:48You look at Dewsbury Hall, who's one of those six in that tight area.
12:52Now he's got a real abundance of space to switch the ball, to get out to.
12:57And it's just about maintaining that balance, maintaining that width that Jack Grealish,
13:01he knows what to do when he's out here.
13:03He wants to be in this position, and he can drive at a defender,
13:06and guess who's there on the far post?
13:08It's Ndai, scoring what was Everton's first goal in the stadium.
13:11A really well-worked goal, and something that Everton fans will be hoping for more and more of.
13:17And they got it in the second half.
13:19And again, Ndai and Grealish, you can see how much width that gives them,
13:23how much space it gives Dewsbury Hall out there.
13:26Barry with some really good centre-forward play that we'll touch on with later.
13:30But the combination there, we've highlighted Grealish at the top of the screen,
13:34just to hold his nerve, hold his width, hold the space to allow the other players to come in.
13:39And this is where Garner wants to be.
13:42A centre midfielder, in a centre midfielder's position, on his right foot.
13:46A wonder strike, a brilliant performance from Jack Grealish.
13:49And we go to show where he affected the game.
13:52Where does Jack Grealish want to be on the pitch?
13:54Where does he want to play? It's out on that left-hand side.
13:56He's tormenting the defences, but he's really held his shape, and he's held that shape for Everton.
14:01It was a really good day for them.
14:03And as many assists as he's had in the last two seasons, so it might be a bit futile this question.
14:08Is that his best position? Or do you want to see him a little bit more central at times?
14:12Well, to me, it doesn't matter where he's playing. It's about how he feels.
14:16Does he feel loved? When he was at Aston Villa, he was on the left-hand side.
14:19But they gave him the ball, gave him that freedom.
14:21At Man City, he was one of many great players.
14:24And I think it kind of stifled him a little bit that every time he had to be very deliberate in his movement,
14:29deliberate with his play.
14:30I think you saw today a Jack Greenish. The first goal is Aston Villa, Jack Greenish.
14:35The second goal is Man City, Jack Greenish.
14:38But he has the freedom to do what he wants.
14:40So as long as he's happy, there was a lovely picture at the start with his daughter.
14:43I thought that was a real encapsulation of where he's at this moment in time.
14:47Looking around at his new home, you get to bring your family there.
14:50Just watch the smiles on his face.
14:52This is a young man that's happy and enjoying himself again.
14:56And that only bodes well for England.
14:57Just as much as that, didn't he?
14:59I could drift, I could be more or less where I wanted today.
15:02And all those kind of emotions make it feel like he's in a place that he feels loved and wanted.
15:08And also, you noticed that his teammates are looking for him the whole time.
15:12And does that help somebody like Barry, do you think, who's new to this?
15:15Yeah, and I think as well for Barry, I was at the game against Leeds on Monday, six days ago.
15:20And it was criminal.
15:23That's the only word I could use, that Beto stayed on the pitch.
15:25He was awful.
15:26But this young man, he had 37 games last year, 11 goals.
15:30Played all summer for France.
15:32Has to get up to tempo and speed with what David Moyes wants.
15:36But his touch, his link, he held up the ball so much better.
15:39And obviously, he's going to take a while to get accustomed to it.
15:42But he just added a different focus, was running in behind.
15:45And that then allows for Jack Greenish and then, as Rob alluded to, to have so much space.
15:49And it gives a back four somewhat to worry about.
15:52Have either of you ever had to be the first in a team to play at a new stadium and had that emotion kind of going in?
15:58Because it must be such a kind of relief to get that result in your first game.
16:01I think you look at the history of teams and a lot of teams have won their first game and then struggled immediately after that.
16:08I think Southampton is the only side not to win their first game in a stadium.
16:11But you lose your identity, you lose the pockets of fans that sing, you lose the feeling.
16:19And generally, they're really, really nice to go and play in.
16:22And that counts for the away team as well.
16:24And you lose that intensity.
16:26And you know, my old club, West Ham, how they're suffering in their new stadium.
16:30And you're thinking, wow, what to be back at the bowling?
16:33And it's that sort of intensity that you lose to create your new history.
16:36David Moy touched on it. New history again and again and again.
16:40They've got to go do it the next game and the game after that.
16:43We've got to talk to you about keepers and information.
16:46Because Pickford, we saw him checking his bottle on Monday against Leeds.
16:49He went the right way, didn't save that penalty.
16:51It worked for him today, though.
16:53All this intel, all this information that is at their disposal on their water bottles.
16:58Yes. Just a reminder. It's only a reminder.
17:01He will have watched so many penalties before the game.
17:03And there is the key bit of information.
17:05Go left.
17:07And I think it's abundantly clear to Jordan Pickford when we see it in a second.
17:11But you're looking for various different tells.
17:14And it's easier with a shorter run-up.
17:16Down to the step, down to the type of movement he makes from a shorter run.
17:20Even down to what foot he starts his run-up off.
17:23And you look at Jordan Pickford now, you can see he's actually further over to the left-hand side.
17:27So there's so many giveaways within this.
17:29The final giveaway, the angle of Danny Welbeck's foot.
17:33If you're good enough to wait that long, he can't put it in any other direction but that side.
17:38Because he's cut off three-quarters of the goal.
17:39So you would notice things that the player was doing and positioning their body before you made your decision?
17:45Yeah, the more information I got, the better I got at saving penalties.
17:50And one that I really enjoyed was against Steven Gerrard.
17:53And he used to set off in a different direction with his right foot as opposed to his left foot in a different direction at the start of his run-up.
17:59And you could tell just by that first step which way he'd go off a shorter run-up.
18:03And had a really good record against him.
18:06So whenever Liverpool got a penalty, you were like, right, just give me that first step.
18:10And you find those little triggers.
18:12And Jordan Pickford today nailed it.
18:14And the other side, Welbeck didn't look too confident, did he?
18:18No. Look, I like Welbeck. He's a friend of mine as well.
18:21So I've got to be careful.
18:23But as a striker in this situation, as a former penalty taker, I'm thinking about the moment.
18:28It's the 77th minute.
18:29You've got this feeling now.
18:31If you score all the momentums of you, that short run-up doesn't feel like it's a natural run-up.
18:37But this is the biggest tell for me.
18:38Just watch when he hits this now of his right foot.
18:40It comes off his heel.
18:41It's not a clean hit.
18:43So to me, it was just about, I would go down the middle in that situation
18:47because it would take a lot for Jordan Pickford to stand in that environment
18:51with a new stadium, with all the fans behind him, to stand there and do it.
18:55I just think, go down the middle in that situation.
18:57Get it to 2-1.
18:58Now all the pressures are.
18:59Now all the anxiety builds.
19:01And you can keep going.
19:02But for me, Brighton were poor going forward in their clinical edge.
19:06Their XG was excellent.
19:07It was a case of like 2.46.
19:10So they should score.
19:11But it's just back-to-back games now.
19:13With that killer instinct.
19:14They've lost Jair Pedro and unfortunately haven't got that killer instinct now.
19:17And we wondered, didn't we Troy, where does Rob Green sit in that pantheon of British, English, Premier League goalkeepers?
19:26And in terms of percentage, well he's the top, 26% of those penalties face that he's saved.
19:33However, he's just one now behind Jordan Pickford.
19:35But he's taken much, many, many fewer than you.
19:39So what's more?
19:40Sorry, he's taken more than you.
19:42So what's the secret?
19:43Information for me.
19:44It was all about the information.
19:45I couldn't save it.
19:46I never saved one for Norwich in 250 games.
19:49And then I got to West Ham.
19:50A greater number of information.
19:52A greater budget that allowed us to get that information.
19:55And from there, stroke of fortune sometimes.
19:58But it was the information that I could take on board.
20:01And there must have been worse penalty takers in our day.
20:05You got in there before he did.
20:08Okay.
20:09Next up to Craven Cottage, where Manchester United have won on each of their last eight visits.
20:13They've never won nine in a row away from home against any opponent in their league history.
20:17Commentary comes from Steve Wilson.
20:21Our own Danny Murphy was on the score sheet the last time Fulham beat Manchester United here 16 years ago.
20:27That, the season that Fulham reached the Europa League final.
20:31Today, they're looking for a first home win since early April, having lost their last three here last season.
20:37And Marco Silva makes three changes to the side, which earned a late point at Brighton.
20:42Goalscorer then, Rodrigo Muniz, is in for Jimenez.
20:45Sessegnor and CastaΓ±a replace Cuenca and Wilson, who dropped to the bench.
20:50United, Altai, keeps his place in goal, even though Andrea Nana has travelled and is on the bench.
20:56Antwerp goalkeeper Senna Lamans is expected to sign at Old Trafford in the next day or two.
21:02Benjamin Shashko is still a substitute.
21:04Ahmad in for Diego Dalo, the only change to the side which lost to Arsenal.
21:09They got their best ever Premier League points tally last season.
21:15Fulham.
21:16Can they kick on from that?
21:21That's given away.
21:24Bruno Fernandes.
21:28Oh, that's not far away.
21:30Cuenca hit it really well.
21:31Hit it early as well.
21:33Well, he wasn't messing around here.
21:36Really good strike.
21:38They're not Manchester United out of the FA Cup last season.
21:43Fulham in a penalty shootout at Old Trafford.
21:45A rare success for them over the Red Devils, it has to be said.
21:51That's Dorghu.
21:52Here's an opportunity for Cuenca.
21:54And he's hit the post.
21:55And Dumo.
21:56Well, Matthias Cuenca has started in electrifying fashion in this game.
22:04Sander Berger thought.
22:11Sessiou.
22:13Nicely into King.
22:14I think he'll get there first.
22:16Good save.
22:18Off the left through the Valtai.
22:23Good reactions from the goalkeeper.
22:25Judged it right.
22:29Plumb down the middle.
22:31Asking questions of Andersen.
22:32And it's a super stop by Leno to deny Cuenca.
22:38Well, great goalkeeping of two completely different kinds here.
22:41It's a great ball down the middle from Altai.
22:44Brilliantly controlled.
22:45And then a super save from Leno.
22:47Matthias Cuenca might have had three.
22:50He hasn't played 15 minutes yet.
22:52And Sessiou has nicked it from Amartialo.
23:00Iwobi and King in the middle.
23:03Rodrigo Muniz arriving.
23:04Good recovery.
23:05Corner.
23:08Well, he made amends for the error.
23:11Sessiou was onto him very quickly.
23:13Luka tried the delivery.
23:22Matches Cuenca.
23:23Got his head on it.
23:24Well controlled by Iwobi.
23:28Goes down as another good save.
23:30Great technique here from Iwobi.
23:32This is far from easy.
23:34Coming down from a pretty great height.
23:36Altai saw it coming and got across.
23:38Nice from Mason Mount.
23:43Bruno Fernandes.
23:45Anderson is with him.
23:46And Bassi was covering.
23:48Which was just as well because Matthias Cuenca was in there.
23:55Nicely done by Mount.
23:57Well covered by Bassi.
24:03Deep from Bruno Fernandes.
24:05Cuenca and Casemiro were both there.
24:07Castagne.
24:11There's a VAR check going on at the moment.
24:13For some possible holding from that Manchester United corner kick.
24:16It was Calvin Bassi on Mason Mount.
24:22And this check has been going on for some time.
24:24And they're looking again at that.
24:26Bassi on Mount.
24:28Well.
24:30They have to feel that the ball might have come to Mount.
24:33Had he not been swung around.
24:36By Calvin Bassi.
24:37And Chris Kavanagh.
24:39Has had a long hard look.
24:42After review.
24:43Full at number three.
24:45Pulls a Manchester player to the ground.
24:48find a decision.
24:49Penalty to Manchester United.
24:50Penalty to Manchester United.
24:51Well believe me.
24:52That smile.
24:53From Marco Silva.
24:54Is one of sarcasm.
24:55Manchester United have a penalty.
24:57Well.
24:58Bruno Fernandes has done this.
25:00So many times.
25:01He does not miss many.
25:02Ruben Amerim.
25:03Is not watching.
25:04Here he comes.
25:05The United captain.
25:06And he's put it over the bar.
25:07Well.
25:08Just about the most untypical penalty.
25:09You'll ever see from Bruno Fernandes.
25:10Absolutely hammered it over the bar.
25:11And he's put it over the bar.
25:12Well.
25:13Just about the most untypical penalty.
25:14You'll ever see from Bruno Fernandes.
25:15Absolutely hammered it over the crossbar.
25:17I can't think I've ever seen him take a worse penalty.
25:18I wonder if that little accident happens.
25:20Is it?
25:21And you'll ever see.
25:22He has put it over the bar.
25:24Well.
25:25You'll never saw.
25:26But I've seen him take a worse penalty.
25:28You'll never see him.
25:29You'll never see him.
25:31Okay.
25:32Well.
25:33Just about the most untypical penalty.
25:35You'll ever see from Bruno Fernandes.
25:36Absolutely hammered it over the crossbar.
25:39I can't think I've ever seen him take a worse penalty.
25:42I wonder if he's got past.
25:43I just wonder if that little accidental contact
25:46got into Bruno Fernandes' mind.
25:47He's going through his routine to take the penalty.
25:50He's clearly not happy that Chris Kavanagh
25:52has accidentally impeded him.
25:55Well, very small things
25:57can have significant ripples, I guess.
26:06King.
26:08Euro chasing.
26:09And did brilliantly.
26:13That's terrific defending there.
26:15He looks second favourite there.
26:18It's a great recovery.
26:21Brilliantly done.
26:26That is Cunha.
26:30Joe Godalo here.
26:33That's the knee of Iwodi
26:34and that's a Manchester United corner.
26:35Brian and Boomer to take this
26:43right in front of the Manchester United fans.
26:49And a free header.
26:51It's in.
26:54Lenny Euro has put Manchester United in front.
26:56Well, and Boomer's getting congratulated for his delivery.
27:03Lenny Euro definitely got something on it,
27:04but Rodrigo Muniz
27:05just might be credited with an own goal here.
27:10Manchester United are in front.
27:12their first goal
27:15of the season.
27:20Well, he's saying that there might have been a foul.
27:24Obviously, it's been checked and cleared.
27:25Well, this is what Fulham are unhappy about.
27:30As the corner kick comes in,
27:32there's a push by Euro
27:33on Basi.
27:40Raul JimΓ©nez
27:40and Alex Iwobi.
27:43Sanderberga nicely done.
27:45Raul JimΓ©nez.
27:47Harry Wilson steaming into the middle.
27:49Dorgou kept pace with it.
27:50A mistake from Diogo Darlou.
27:55Robinson.
27:59Iwobi in.
28:01And Smithrow!
28:04It's 1-1.
28:11Emil Smithrow for Fulham.
28:15It's his first touch since coming on.
28:18And he's just tugged it.
28:20That's Valtai
28:21for the more Manchester United one.
28:30Inbound matches.
28:31Cunha
28:32behind
28:33by Calvin Basi.
28:38And now it's Manchester United
28:40asking the questions.
28:42Well, they scored
28:45from a Brian and Bermode corner kick
28:47from this side
28:49to take the lead.
28:51If they do it again,
28:52they'll probably win the game.
28:56In it goes.
28:57Oh, go the heads
28:58and that was not far away.
29:00Harry Maguire
29:01familiar now with his
29:03role as a late substitute
29:05to go up front
29:06and try and score a late goal
29:07and he's not far away here.
29:10A nice thing for a coach
29:12to be able to make substitutions
29:13who then have an impact
29:14on the game.
29:15It's not a coincidence for us.
29:16Last season was 17 goals
29:17from players from the bench.
29:19By far the best team
29:20in Premier League
29:21in that aspect.
29:22And this season
29:23already happened
29:23in two games twice.
29:26It's not a coincidence
29:26but it speaks more
29:27about the players
29:28that we have,
29:29the character that we have
29:29in our dressing room.
29:30I think for me
29:31it's clear and obvious.
29:33He's got two hands
29:35in my back.
29:35He's created an advantage
29:36for himself.
29:37He's clearly stopped me
29:38from getting to the ball.
29:39So, yeah, for me
29:40I think it should have been a foul.
29:42I felt that we were
29:44a good team
29:45until our goal
29:46and then we forget
29:47about our ideas
29:49and try to
29:50hold on the advantage.
29:52So we are struggling
29:53so much.
29:54We want to win
29:55so bad
29:56with football games
29:57that when we score
29:59we were just thinking
30:00about holding the advantage.
30:03I just wonder
30:04how much that little collision
30:05with the referee
30:06affected you?
30:07No, obviously
30:08as everyone
30:09you have your own routine
30:10and I was preparing myself
30:11to get the penalty.
30:12I had quite a little bit
30:13of my nerves
30:14but it's not
30:15because of that
30:17I missed the penalty.
30:17I missed the penalty
30:18because I kicked
30:19very bad the ball.
30:20I took it two under
30:21and the ball
30:21ended up going over the bar.
30:24We'll get on to the taking
30:24of the penalty in a second
30:25but there's quite a lot
30:26to unpick
30:27isn't there
30:27in the actual awarding
30:29of that penalty.
30:30Yes, a tale of a number
30:31of corners within the game
30:33and one of the main ones
30:34was the penalty
30:35that was given
30:35and VAR
30:37rearing its head again
30:39and we're looking
30:40at Casemiro
30:41and the sole purpose
30:43of Mount and Shaw
30:44is to clear the path
30:46and block the players
30:47and I'll say it
30:48hold the players
30:49of Fulham
30:50to stop them
30:51getting in challenging.
30:52Now,
30:53Kuni almost does that
30:53for them
30:54but there's no real appeal
30:56from any Manchester United
30:57players
30:58and one of the reasons
30:58as they said
30:59it was given
30:59that Bassey
31:00was the initiator
31:02the person who fouls
31:03first within there
31:04and we look
31:05Luke Shaw's already
31:06got hold of Mounia's
31:07in there
31:08and Mason Mount
31:08is going in
31:09they both instigate
31:11the move.
31:12If they didn't instigate
31:13the move
31:13those two players
31:14would be happy
31:15to go and make the
31:16header and clear the ball.
31:18We can see
31:18that yes
31:19Calvin Bassey
31:20does throw him
31:21over the leg
31:22his own leg
31:23but within that
31:24you've got a number
31:25of fouls
31:26already being committed
31:27and if there's any doubt
31:28we can see the other arm there
31:29of both players
31:30holding the players
31:31now they have no intention
31:33of going playing the ball
31:34so they are
31:35their sole purpose
31:36is to hold
31:37and foul
31:38the Fulham players
31:39and that's what they've done
31:40so
31:40it's a really
31:42dubious call
31:44or unclear
31:45so
31:46in the eyes of VAR
31:47there's enough doubt
31:49in there
31:49to stay out
31:50and just leave it
31:51as a football
31:52in motion
31:53you can't do that
31:54as Calvin Bassey said
31:55he's admitted himself
31:56I shouldn't do that
31:57but Troy
31:58have you ever had
31:59a referee come along
32:00and try and put you off
32:01after giving you a penalty
32:02because it did help
32:03he says it didn't
32:04but it did
32:04yeah I think
32:05you know Bruno
32:06fair play to him
32:07he's fronted up there
32:08but it has knocked him
32:08off his stride
32:09because normally
32:10he'd be more composed
32:11now and he passes it in
32:12but he actually
32:13lashes this one
32:14and a little bit of pressure
32:15and I think for Amarin
32:16he just wants that moment
32:17they started the game
32:18off so well
32:19and they haven't got the goals
32:20and he must be thinking
32:21what have I got to do
32:22to just get the win
32:23over the line
32:24Cunha hitting the post
32:26then that miss of the penalty
32:27the game could have been
32:28out of sight
32:28and then
32:29there was more controversy
32:31in the build up
32:32to the goal itself
32:33another situation
32:34where a foul
32:35could have been given
32:36yeah absolutely
32:37and for me
32:38it's a tweak
32:39that Man United did
32:40so you can see here
32:41with Fulham
32:41they overload the front post
32:43here so they've got
32:44four in there
32:45in the areas here
32:46so Man U would target
32:46the back post
32:47as Rob
32:47has just alluded to
32:49but if we move it
32:50onto the second half
32:51again
32:51same set up
32:52but now Man United
32:53at half time
32:53have deliberately
32:54moved it to the back post
32:55they've got
32:56Yaro and Bassi here
32:57I want you to keep
32:58an eye on Bassi
32:58great ball in for
33:00Brian Umbermo here
33:00again
33:01got that quality
33:01they just push him
33:03in the back there
33:03led to Yaro
33:04gets the header
33:05Muniz turns his back
33:06which I don't think
33:07Marco Silva
33:07will be too happy about
33:08but for me
33:09that's a foul
33:10when you push
33:11the defender in the back
33:12and it's more
33:13could he be stronger
33:14yes
33:15absolutely
33:16would I want my centre
33:17back to be stronger
33:17of course I would
33:18but where the ball lands
33:20is where Bassi would have been
33:21so he's moved him
33:22out of the way
33:22and here's the perfect example
33:23look the two hands
33:24in the back
33:24pushes him
33:25just enough off balance
33:26it's a poor header
33:27but ends up going
33:29in the back of the net
33:29but for me
33:30that's a foul
33:30it has a direct impact
33:32on the goal
33:33and you're looking
33:34and for VAR
33:35when you have something
33:36clear and obvious
33:37that has a direct impact
33:39on the goal
33:39you flag it
33:40and then you ask
33:42the referee to go over
33:42and Bassi was saying
33:43afterwards wasn't he
33:44that he was told
33:44that it didn't have
33:45a direct impact
33:46which is why
33:46it wasn't given as a foul
33:47but clearly it did
33:49yeah
33:49you're looking at VAR
33:50to say
33:51you should have stayed
33:52out of the first one
33:53and actually stepped in
33:54with the second one
33:55and got it the wrong way round
33:57let's talk about
33:58some positivity
33:59and Fulham's substitutes
34:01are certainly that
34:02aren't they
34:02dynamic
34:02energetic
34:03changing the game
34:04for them
34:04yeah
34:05again we're going to get
34:06onto the benches
34:07afterwards
34:07but for me
34:08I think Fulham
34:08have been great
34:09since the back end
34:10of last year
34:11they've scored
34:1219 goals now
34:13with their subs
34:14and every sub
34:15that they made
34:16was an attacking one
34:17with more positive impact
34:19and as soon as we break
34:20through here
34:20you've got Jimenez
34:21Smith Rowe
34:22Harry Wilson
34:23on the other side
34:23all running forward
34:24again
34:25but when the changes
34:26for Man United
34:26for me goes wrong
34:27because this would have been
34:28Ahmad
34:29inside the set
34:30but even
34:31that
34:31just set it to Fernandes
34:33look it's 3v2 on the top line
34:34just manage the game
34:36he doesn't
34:37for some reason
34:37tries to turn out
34:38it won't be great
34:39on the front foot
34:40and this is another substitute
34:41here with Robinson
34:42and he makes this goal
34:43for me
34:44lovely little ball
34:45he could have stood
34:45of Amari's work
34:46but look he runs into the space
34:48in that he moves
34:49Lenny Yarrow
34:50Ugarte
34:50and even Dalek
34:51goes with him as well
34:52but he forces the lid
34:53to come across
34:54he now opens up that space
34:55and lock it all good forwards
34:57Emmanuel Smith Rowe
34:58he just looks at there
34:59runs in
34:59runs off
35:00Bruno Fernandes
35:01and scores
35:02and for me
35:03Fernandes is at fault
35:05in this
35:05and I'm going to show you
35:06why here
35:06just as that goes
35:07now look
35:08he can see
35:08Smith Rowe to his left
35:10everyone's body position
35:11is moving forward
35:12now they're all locked in
35:13man for man
35:14he can't let that player go
35:16because he has to wait
35:17for someone to take him
35:17off him
35:18unfortunately he does
35:19it's a wonderful ball
35:20from Alex Iwobi
35:21and it's a lovely
35:22death finish
35:23from Smith Rowe
35:24but Man United
35:25have themselves to blame
35:26you mentioned
35:28about how successful
35:29they've been
35:30in terms of the effect
35:31and the impact
35:32of their subs
35:3319 now
35:34they're on
35:35you said 17 over
35:36last season
35:37from their subs
35:37goals
35:38and obviously
35:39goals often mean points
35:40and for them
35:41you know
35:41crucial valuable points
35:42they've got one
35:43same thing happened
35:44to them last week
35:44as well
35:45I guess that points
35:46to Marco Silva
35:46having to then
35:47really kind of
35:48balance his squad out
35:49doesn't it
35:49because Smith Rowe
35:50will want to start
35:51but what an impact
35:52he's made for him today
35:53yeah and you look
35:53at a couple of years ago
35:54it was a Fulham side
35:55that couldn't change
35:57the course of a game
35:58they really were stuck
35:59in setting a gear
35:59and couldn't really
36:00have an impact
36:01but now
36:01you looked at how
36:03they played
36:03and it was brilliantly
36:04highlighted of
36:05the runners beyond
36:06the runners from midfield
36:07and Marco Silva
36:09highlighted that
36:09before the game
36:10and after the game
36:11saying they've got the
36:12three or the five
36:13at the back
36:13whichever way
36:14you want to put it
36:14so we need those
36:15extra runners
36:16they had them in abundance
36:17on the bench
36:18and you just had to
36:19wait for that time
36:20and it's selling it
36:21to your players
36:22to say
36:22you're on the bench
36:24but you're going to
36:24have to make this
36:25impact in the game
36:26and they're doing it
36:27time and time again
36:28and when you look
36:28at those two benches
36:29Manchester United
36:30and Fulham
36:31and you think about
36:31the fact that
36:32Fulham have spent
36:33about Β£400,000
36:34in the transfer window
36:36and Manchester United
36:37considerably more
36:39those benches
36:41for you
36:41Troy
36:42are actually
36:43unbalanced
36:44the way you
36:45wouldn't think
36:45yes I think
36:46for me
36:47when you look
36:47at it
36:48Szczesko is the
36:49only one
36:49who's a natural
36:50attacking
36:51positive option
36:52the rest of them
36:53again
36:54Zerxes had a poor
36:55season
36:55Man Utd fans
36:56are not sure
36:57Mainu
36:58and Maguire
36:59Ugarte
37:00they're all
37:01light for light
37:02subs
37:02when you look
37:02at Fulham
37:03they can make
37:03defensive changes
37:05they can make
37:05attacking changes
37:06they can change
37:07formation
37:07just seems more
37:08well rounded
37:09so for me
37:10it just looks as if
37:11that Man Utd
37:12have got so much
37:13work to do
37:14and also
37:14they've left
37:15they have to
37:16leave people out
37:17your Garnachos
37:17the Sanchos
37:19the decisions
37:19that they've made
37:20is actually
37:21hampering them
37:22so they need to
37:23get rid of these
37:23players quickly
37:24or they've got to
37:25put them in
37:25because now
37:26they're killing
37:27themselves
37:27so with that
37:29in mind
37:29and the transfer
37:31window coming
37:31to a close
37:32you know
37:32very soon
37:33what do they
37:34need to do
37:35in this next
37:35business quit
37:36they need to
37:37get out to get
37:37in because
37:38they need
37:39options on the
37:39bench
37:39and a keeper
37:41if Ananda's
37:42not your man
37:43Vindia is
37:44certainly not
37:45your man
37:45yeah
37:46nervous today
37:47on corners
37:47yes
37:49an understatement
37:49on that
37:51yeah
37:51okay
37:52next to
37:53Selhurst Park
37:54a bit of extra
37:55feeling in
37:55Crystal Palace's
37:56meeting with
37:57Nottingham Forest
37:57with the added
37:58twist of the
37:59apparent breakdown
38:00in the relationship
38:00between Forest's
38:01manager and
38:02their owner
38:02your commentator
38:03is Robin Cowan
38:04what should be a
38:07time for celebration
38:08is one more
38:09of uncertainty
38:10two trophies won
38:12in the last three
38:12months
38:13but Palace's
38:14demotion to the
38:15conference league
38:15and the departure
38:16of key players
38:17has given fans
38:18cause for concern
38:19Eberichi Eze's
38:21move to Arsenal
38:22has been confirmed
38:23captain Mark Gay
38:24is expected to be
38:25the next to leave
38:26but he starts today
38:27Justin Deveni
38:28is Eze's
38:29replacement
38:29in the only change
38:30from the draw
38:31over Chelsea
38:32Forest's
38:33supposed influence
38:34on UEFA's
38:34decision
38:35has added to
38:36Palace's sense
38:36of injustice
38:37Forest gained a
38:38Europa League
38:39place
38:39but they might yet
38:40lose the man
38:41who got them there
38:42their head coach
38:43Nuno Espirito
38:44Santos' future
38:45is in question
38:45after he admitted
38:46his relationship
38:47with owner
38:48Evangelos
38:48Maranakis
38:49has deteriorated
38:50worrying news
38:52for Chris Wood
38:52who has scored
38:5333 times
38:54in 53 appearances
38:56during Nuno's tenure
38:57Forest are unchanged
38:59from the opening day
39:00victory over Brentford
39:01the usual
39:06febrile atmosphere
39:07at Selhurst Park
39:08can be upgraded
39:09to Fervent
39:10due to Palace's
39:12failed appeal
39:13to the court of
39:14arbitration
39:14for sport
39:15this fixture
39:16has been labelled
39:17El Casico
39:18Anderson
39:20scampering away
39:22onto Gibbs White
39:24delivers Wood
39:31just wide
39:33Gibbs White
39:35the fortunate bounce
39:37of the ball
39:38but he found Wood
39:38beautifully
39:39slightly behind
39:41the striker
39:42worrying quotes
39:45from Nuno
39:45this week
39:46saying his
39:47relationship has
39:47changed
39:48with Evangelos
39:49Maranakis
39:50they're not close

40:31and Sarr
40:33well Palace
40:40just kept coming
40:41and coming
40:41a little bit
40:43lax there
40:44from Gibbs
40:44White
40:45to give it
40:45away
40:45trying something
40:46a bit fancy
40:47and Ismail

40:51untracked
40:51potent in the
40:53penalty area
40:53to give Palace
40:55the lead
40:56the mood
40:57lifted
40:58here in
41:00Selhurst Park
41:00defending
41:03through ball
41:06for Mateta
41:07didn't quite come off
41:08Rawson wins it back

41:41and it's off the post
41:42Mark Gay
41:44the width of the post
41:46away from doubling
41:47Crystal Palace's lead
41:48no train just for either side
41:52see what sort of response
41:53Horace can muster
41:56create a few opportunities
41:58in the first half
41:59didn't take any of them
42:01and Doi's ball
42:03is absolutely
42:05inch perfect
42:05it's Hudson-Odoi
42:07and we are all square
42:12a simply
42:13sensational ball
42:15from Dan-Odoi
42:17switched wings
42:18for this second half
42:20he's already
42:20looked more dangerous
42:21and Hudson-Odoi
42:24managing to find a way
42:26through Henderson
42:27and Forrest right back
42:29in this game
42:301-1
42:32Morgan Gibbs-White
42:44with the flick
42:44and Chris Wood's effort
42:45was saved by Henderson
42:49he was offside anyway
42:51very very tight
42:54either way
42:55Henderson did enough
42:56he's not going to do
42:59anything for his mood
43:00Hughes
43:03ball down the line
43:11for Jesus
43:11who's in here
43:13off the frame
43:16of the goal
43:17McAtee
43:19Hutchinson
43:20it just opened up
43:24for him here
43:24brilliant ball through
43:29very unfortunate
43:31Henderson was beaten
43:33Edouard
43:38for Saar
43:39for Saar
43:39he's tripped
43:40oh the offside flag is up
43:43this is going to be
43:45reviewed
43:46for the offside
43:48decision
43:48and a potential penalty
43:50now
43:50Saar
43:51is offside
43:52the penalty won't be checked
43:55the penalty won't be checked
43:55because the initial decision
43:56was correct of offside
43:58McAtee
44:07Alenkovich
44:09helps it off
44:10to Murillo
44:11just in the nick of time
44:12Williams
44:14sends it forward
44:15Hutchinson
44:17over the top
44:19couple of very
44:21presentable
44:22opportunities
44:23for Forrest to win this
44:24could this though
44:28be the last we see
44:29of Nuno Espirito Santo
44:31as head coach
44:34of Nottingham Forrest
44:35I think both teams
44:38deserve this point
44:38today
44:39it's a deserved draw
44:40we took the lead
44:41and in the second half
44:42our legs got a little bit
44:45fatigued
44:45we could see
44:46that we have a quite
44:47intense start
44:47into the season
44:48and then
44:49the pressure increased
44:50and so I think
44:51Nottingham deserved
44:52the equaliser
44:53and at the end
44:53the result is fair
44:55both halves
44:56I think we played good
44:57against
44:57a very tough team
44:58Palace is a very good team
44:59only
45:00has a team
45:01well drilled
45:02well organized
45:03no spaces
45:04aggressive
45:05so we expected
45:07a tough game
45:07it was
45:07but I think
45:08we show character
45:09we play good
45:10How has this week
45:11been for you
45:12being extremely honest
45:13with the press
45:13which has surprised us
45:15what are your feelings
45:15at the moment?
45:17Okay
45:17look
45:18I'm a person
45:19that thinks a lot
45:20thinks a lot
45:21before
45:21say anything
45:24and
45:26I say
45:28because I believe
45:29that things
45:30can improve
45:31but now
45:33it's the moment
45:33to ignore the noise
45:34and
45:36just focus
45:37on what I have to do
45:38and my job
45:39is clear
45:40You wanted to be honest
45:41though
45:42and you're speaking
45:42like you want a resolution
45:43would you like one
45:44or do you think
45:45there can be one
45:46to this situation?
45:48Of course
45:48of course
45:49there will be a resolution
45:50everything is going
45:50to be okay
45:51for sure
45:51it's the moment
45:53now to sit down
45:54and talk
45:54but it's okay
45:55I think the more
45:56the more
45:57important is
45:58how we
45:59play football
46:00how we play football
46:01and I think
46:02we are improving
46:03trying to adjust
46:04some things
46:05and that's where
46:06my focus is
46:07Just finally
46:08they saw you
46:09with the fans
46:09they were chanting
46:10your name
46:10you could hear it
46:11loud and clear
46:12you clearly have a lot
46:12of affection for you
46:14for what you've done
46:14for this club
46:15Last season
46:16I think it's
46:17one year and a half
46:18already that
46:19we joined Forrest
46:20we are delighted
46:21and the journey
46:22that we embraced
46:23last season
46:24will stay forever
46:25with us
46:25it's memorable
46:27and it's beautiful
46:28Not perhaps
46:31all beautiful
46:31at the moment
46:32for Nuno
46:32we'll talk about
46:33that in a moment
46:34Klaxon alert
46:36if you're playing
46:37match of the day
46:37bingo
46:38it was a game
46:38of two halves
46:39Yeah it absolutely
46:41was
46:42we're just going
46:43to do it really
46:43quickly
46:43because I just think
46:45when you try
46:45and break it down
46:46there was not
46:47a great deal
46:47that we could show
46:48you as to why
46:49it changed
46:49for me how it
46:51changed was
46:51the pattern of play
46:52was very deliberate
46:54here for Forrest
46:55what we saw last year
46:56trying to force
46:57Palace to play the
46:58ball inside the
46:59picture where they
47:00got the overloading
47:00numbers and for
47:01Palace it has to be
47:02really crisp
47:03one and two
47:04touch football
47:04and as you can
47:05see here what
47:06killed Palace
47:08in my opinion
47:08was Munoz
47:09and Mitchell
47:10when they lose
47:11the ball
47:11such a big
47:12long powerful
47:13run to get back
47:14but as the game
47:14developed in the
47:15first half
47:16Ismaila started
47:17coming in
47:17the breakdown
47:18started falling
47:18the picture
47:19started to change
47:20and look as
47:21Ismaila comes
47:22onto this left
47:22hand side
47:23you've got
47:24Mitchell on the
47:24overlap
47:25good ball into
47:26the air
47:26it clears
47:27more gives
47:28what I probably
47:29want to look
47:29after a bit
47:30better
47:30Will Hughes
47:30there into
47:31water
47:31and again
47:31look where
47:32the outlet
47:33is
47:33a great ball
47:33from Munoz
47:34and it's a
47:35lovely finish
47:35from Ismaila
47:36it's like he
47:37learnt that
47:37from a striker
47:38partner at
47:39Watford I think
47:39there Rob
47:40it's a lovely
47:42finish
47:42but then for
47:43Forrest we're
47:44back to what
47:44they know
47:44look Murillo in
47:45there beating
47:46the press
47:46lovely ball in
47:47there
47:48and Doida
47:49a lovely little
47:49touch
47:50and I'm
47:50going to say
47:51he meant
47:51this pass
47:51but it
47:52looked like
47:52it went
47:52to Chris
47:53Wood
47:53and it
47:54hooks the
47:54door in
47:54this situation
47:55Mitchell's
47:56quick but
47:56he's not
47:56going to
47:56catch him
47:57and it's
47:57a lovely
47:58finish to
47:58the near
47:59post
47:59and then
48:00again
48:00look here's
48:00where they
48:01could have
48:01won it
48:01Murillo
48:01comes forward
48:02really direct
48:03puts Igor
48:04in as he's
48:05here
48:05could he
48:05pass it
48:06no good
48:06defender
48:07gets on
48:07that left
48:07foot
48:07great strike
48:08as it
48:09comes back
48:10out here
48:10Amari
48:11Hutchinson
48:11who they've
48:11just brought
48:12in
48:12if he would
48:13have scored
48:13this
48:13this would
48:14have been
48:14the same
48:14as last
48:14year
48:15and we
48:15go wow
48:16look how
48:16great they've
48:17done
48:17they've
48:17soaked up
48:18all the
48:18pressure
48:18in the
48:18first half
48:19look it's
48:19all Palace
48:20just by the
48:20numbers
48:21and then we
48:21flip it to
48:22the second
48:22one
48:22you just
48:23see second
48:24half
48:24big chances
48:25there
48:25hit the
48:26woodwork
48:26it would
48:27have been
48:27one of
48:27those games
48:28we go
48:28Forest
48:28won 2-1
48:29and Palace
48:30don't know
48:30how they
48:31did it
48:31let's deal
48:33with the
48:33tough stuff
48:33then shall
48:34we Rob
48:34because last
48:35week an
48:36emphatic
48:36victory
48:36they've
48:37taken a
48:37point away
48:38from home
48:38but Nuno's
48:40not afraid
48:40at the
48:40moment
48:41it would
48:41seem
48:41to talk
48:42about
48:42what is
48:42going on
48:43and some
48:43of his
48:43quotes
48:44today
48:44quite telling
48:45weren't
48:45they
48:46I cannot
48:46answer the
48:47question
48:47about whether
48:47I'll be
48:48here at the
48:48end of the
48:48transfer window
48:49he says
48:49what I know
48:50is I'm
48:50working on
48:51trying to
48:51do my
48:52job
48:52the best
48:52I can
48:53I wouldn't
48:54ever want
48:54to walk
48:55away
48:55I love
48:56what I
48:56do
48:56he started
48:58being spoken
48:59the week
48:59before the
49:00season
49:00started
49:00didn't he
49:01talking about
49:01not being
49:01happy
49:02with the
49:03players
49:03in terms
49:04of not
49:04being ready
49:05to go
49:05not that
49:06he wasn't
49:06happy
49:06with the
49:06players
49:07but felt
49:07they weren't
49:08ready to
49:08go
49:08he's
49:09talking a
49:10lot
49:10yes
49:11and he's
49:11trying to
49:12create a
49:12pressure
49:12in a
49:13direction
49:13he talks
49:14about the
49:14love
49:15that he's
49:15got
49:15internally
49:16and externally
49:17going down
49:18towards the
49:19players
49:19and outward
49:20towards the
49:21fans
49:21that's fine
49:22it's great
49:23it's working
49:23really really
49:24well for
49:24Nottingham
49:25Forest
49:25they're happy
49:25upwards
49:26there seems
49:27to be all
49:27sorts of
49:28issues
49:28there's a
49:28power dynamic
49:29going on
49:30you've got
49:30Edu and
49:31the owner
49:32so the
49:32director of
49:32football
49:33sporting
49:33director
49:35all-powerful
49:36all-changing
49:37and it's
49:38seemingly
49:38there's a
49:39power shift
49:40between him
49:41and the
49:41manager
49:42so there's
49:42something that's
49:43got to give
49:44and he's
49:44pushing for
49:45that thing
49:46to give
49:46which way
49:47it's going
49:47to go
49:48I think
49:48you can only
49:49see one
49:49answer
49:49really
49:50in it
49:51and it's
49:51going to

50:11unsettled
50:12you're certainly
50:12asking questions
50:13you're certainly
50:14phoning your
50:14agent and
50:15asking around
50:15is this
50:16normal
50:16if you've
50:17just come
50:17in
50:17is this
50:18what
50:18normally
50:18happens
50:19here
50:19we saw
50:19a few
50:20instances
50:20last year
50:21with the
50:21owner
50:21on the
50:22pitch
50:22and you
50:22think
50:22okay
50:23maybe
50:23that's

54:41City
54:420
54:42there's been a lot of talk about Spurs win against Manchester City yesterday but Thomas Frank has really impressed you you've just found something else you want to have a look at
55:01yeah I just think that the deliberate movements that they get as well and we're going to show you here now but for me it started down this right hand side they just dropped Pedro Pora down a little bit to create the space
55:12Man City go

55:25Man City go t

55:34and
55:34look at
55:35Man City
55:36huge
55:36Man City
55:38But you see this pattern of play developing all the way through.
55:40Again, down this right-hand side.
55:42Sarr now realises the space.
55:44They jump the press, go over the top.
55:46Now on that back line, it's a 1v1 with Richarlison and John Stones.
55:50For Johnson now, as a striker, you're buzzing.
55:52You're seeing the number on the back of his shirt.
55:53Now I'm going.
55:55Here now, Rico Lewis realises, oh, God, I'm in trouble.
55:58I need to get back.
55:59Tries to change, but it's too late.
56:00It's a great ball from Richarlison and a lovely finish.
56:03And this was a pattern that just kept coming time and time again.
56:06And now at this point, they've pinned the back line, 4v4.
56:10As they go now, Polina realises, because they've got the double pivot, I can run on.
56:14This is the best thing for me.
56:15Doesn't even look.
56:16Just putting it into the area.
56:17If he wanted to, he could cut it back.
56:19Again, Johnson at the back post can see Rico Lewis is back.
56:22If he was just to put that ball in a little bit better, they would be in.
56:25But for Thomas Frank, again, edge of the box, he's boxed off.
56:28They're sealed, but it's constant pressure.
56:31And I just think tactically, he's got it spot on so far.
56:33And that involves communication, doesn't it?
56:35And players knowing what they're supposed to be doing.
56:37And his communication off the pitch has also been quite impressive, hasn't it?
56:41He's made a statement there.
56:42But you think on the pitch as well, it's clear that this is one of his strengths.
56:47Yeah, absolutely.
56:48In both senses, he's been pragmatic.
56:50His tactics are pragmatic.
56:51And he makes it clear and simple for players.
56:53And from what they had last season, what was being asked of them was so hard at times.
56:59And running them into the ground under Postacoglu, you're looking at the tactics where the players
57:03were going out and going, we just can't keep doing this, what's being asked of us.
57:07And now, it's a breath of fresh air.
57:09We talked about what players thrive in.
57:11And it's believing in a system that they know they can do.
57:15They've shifted it around for every game, three different approaches for each game that
57:19they've had.
57:20And you're looking there, the practicality is there, the pragmatic nature is there.
57:26Yes, similar thing.
57:27And then, off the pitch as well, I think what's really impressed me is how you deal with the
57:32players.
57:32You're going into a big club.
57:33You've been at Brentford.
57:34Everyone's on board.
57:36Then, all of a sudden, you've got two rules.
57:38Don't be an idiot.
57:39Don't be late.
57:40Eve Bissouma.
57:41I'm glad you used that word to describe it.
57:43Yeah, there's other words.
57:44But he's, Bissouma's fallen foul of one or both of those.
57:48And he's looked around and gone, this is my opportunity to stamp my authority on the team.
57:53And all of a sudden, bang, there's the opportunity.
57:56He's taken it.
57:57Everyone understands.
57:58It's clear as day.
57:59And players appreciate that.
58:01Oh, yeah.
58:02No grey areas for players.
58:03Black or white.
58:04Just keep it very, very simple.
58:05And I think what's happened really well as well with Bissouma, he has to fall on line
58:09now because they're winning games.
58:10They're playing well.
58:11So, if they were losing, he would have just gone back to normal.
58:13Shall we have a quick look at the table?
58:14It's very early days.
58:15But Liverpool can join Arsenal and Tottenham on six points if they beat Newcastle on Monday
58:21night.
58:21Forrester fourth at the bottom.
58:23For the first time since 28th of May, 23, none of the promoted teams are in the bottom
58:27three.
58:27That's something.
58:28That's about it from us.
58:30Lots of us getting used to new surroundings this season.
58:33Everton taking to their fancy new home in style.
58:35And on today's evidence, Jack is back.
58:37We'll see you later.
58:50OK.
