Hello everyone and welcome to my little corner of Dailymotion. Today's feature is called Track of the Moon Beast from 1976. Boy if ever there was a time to do like Bugs Bunny and take a wrong turn at Albuquerque, this movie was it. For our film takes place in none other than the said mention Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this film we have a lot going on, a mineralogist called Paul who gets hit in the head with a meteorite, full moon madness, Native American folklore, a walking Lizard, an exploding Lizard, NASA brain surgeons (I didn't there were any) and some killings. I guess the Moon beast couldn't find any crickets or lettuce around. Staring in this scaly tale we have...Chase Cordell as Paul, Leigh Drake (aka Donna Leigh Drake) as Kathy, Gregorio Sala as Prof. Johnny Longbow, Patrick Wright as Captain McCabe, Francine Kessler as Janet, Timothy Wayne Brown as Dr. Sutton, Crawford MacCallum as Dr. Lawrence, Jeanne Swain as Caroline, Alan Swain as Sid, Frank Larrabee as the lead singer, Joe Blasco as the Moon Beast and a few more. So if the moon isn't full, let's make some Harvest Moon cocktails and try to enjoy (we're gonna need a lot of cocktails). Also thanks so much for watching.

00:00:00Hello everyone!
00:00:30The National Anthem
00:01:00Stand by, camera one.
00:01:06And this special report from KLB Television.
00:01:10The National Aeronautics and Space Agency quotes officials as saying
00:01:14that the asteroid now entering our portion of the solar system poses no threat to Earth.
00:01:20Meanwhile, NASA's viewpoint is substantiated by observatories as far away as Siberia and Peking.
00:01:27However, as might be expected, official sources in Moscow and Peking
00:01:32do have a difference of opinion as to the size and mass of the space intruder.
00:01:38Nevertheless, the world's scientific community is generally agreed on one thing.
00:01:43The asteroid is on a collision course with the moon.
00:01:48After the impact, astronomers will no doubt have to add a new crater to their maps of our already pockmarked moon.
00:01:55In any event, we will interrupt our regular programs to keep you informed of the now certain collation in outer space
00:02:02and to bring you any further bulletins from leading observatories or from NASA.

00:05:49Anthropology to Mineralogy
00:05:51at the graduate level.
00:05:53Until that point, I thought you had a fair degree of sense.
00:05:56Was it you that made that god-awful sound?
00:05:58That was me, I'm afraid.
00:06:00He also does bird calls,
00:06:02but don't get him started.
00:06:03Janet, like I keep telling you,
00:06:05an anthropology major these days should have more than one talent.
00:06:07That's a talent, bird calls?
00:06:10I'm Kathy Nolan.
00:06:22Paul, Paul Carlson.
00:06:24Don't tell me you're a student.
00:06:27Miss Nolan's doing a picture story on the religious customs of the tribes around here.
00:06:31Especially my own people.
00:06:33That's why Bud happened to have a ceremonial mask.
00:06:35Really my idea.
00:06:37I borrowed the mask from the collection at the reservation
00:06:39to do some mood shots on location out here.
00:06:42But when we were heading back and I saw you and Professor Salinas explained you were a friend,
00:06:49well, I'm afraid the bright idea of using it for a practical joke
00:06:54and getting some shots of your reaction was my idea.
00:06:57Thanks, I'm glad to know.
00:07:01I'm afraid we got more reaction than I bargained for.
00:07:04I won't use the shot.
00:07:06That's a promise.
00:07:08Am I forgiven?
00:07:11Of course, Miss Nolan.
00:07:12Kathy to my friends.
00:07:14We are friends.
00:07:17We are, Kathy.
00:07:21We were just on our way to Professor Salinas' place at the reservation.
00:07:25He's promised us an authentic Indian supper.
00:07:29Won't you join us?
00:07:31I'd like to, if it's all right with Johnny Longbow.
00:07:34It's all right with me.
00:07:35No problem at all.
00:07:36Just follow my car.
00:07:39Why do you call him Johnny Longbow?
00:07:42Well, it's his Indian name.
00:07:44His tribal one.
00:07:46It translates, warrior's bow that reaches long to its mark.
00:07:51Actually, he handles the bow like one of his ancestors.
00:07:56There's additional word from NASA this evening
00:08:00concerning the asteroid that collided with the moon two days ago.
00:08:04Radio telemetry from the seismometers planted on the moon's surface
00:08:08in previous Apollo missions have recorded the shock of the impact
00:08:11as beyond the end of the Richter scale.
00:08:14On Earth, this would be a disturbance that would rival the explosion
00:08:18in the 19th century of the volcanic island of Krakatoa.
00:08:22The impact on the moon is sent off a shower of fragments
00:08:26mixed with pieces of the asteroid.
00:08:30Some of these small fragments will enter Earth's atmosphere tonight,
00:08:33but they will undoubtedly explode into nothing more
00:08:37than a harmless shower of tiny meteorites, according to NASA officials.
00:08:42The greatest concentration of this meteor shower
00:08:44will be over the southwest region of the United States.
00:08:47This meteor shower will be, however, quite harmless,
00:08:51according to the statement from NASA,
00:08:53and likely to provide nothing more than a spectacular sight in the skies.
00:08:59And that's the story of the awesome collision on the moon today.
00:09:03This is Gary Kanin from our news center in Albuquerque.
00:09:07I didn't schedule a meteor shower as part of the evening entertainment
00:09:15at the reservation, but it should be quite a sight.
00:09:18And this is a great meal, Professor.
00:09:20That's a great stew.
00:09:22What's in it?
00:09:23Oh, a lot of things.
00:09:25Chicken, corn, green peppers, chili, onions.
00:09:31Uh, well, it's an old recipe around here.
00:09:37Well, if nobody minds, I think I'll have some more.
00:09:40Uh, all for the cause of research, naturally.
00:09:43I'm glad that's what you call it.
00:09:47You know, I'd like to get some night shots of this area.
00:09:50Well, if you don't mind me tagging along,
00:09:53I know a few great spots.
00:09:55But they're pretty far away.
00:09:56Hmm.
00:10:01What's that?
00:10:19That is a lizard.
00:10:21Oh, sorry.
00:10:23Things like that scare me.
00:10:25You get used to lizards here.
00:10:27They're quite common.
00:10:29That's why tribes in this area have so many legends about lizards.
00:10:34Like, uh, what, for instance?
00:10:36Oh.
00:10:38Such as the story of a lizard and coyote, for instance.
00:10:41In the days before there were men on Earth.
00:10:44Sounds like it's going to be the, uh, Navajo version of Genesis.
00:10:49Ignore him, Professor.
00:10:51I'd like to hear the story.
00:10:54It'll have no effect on your grades.
00:10:56I don't expect it to.
00:10:58I'd just like to hear it.
00:11:00Well, one day, before man walked on Earth,
00:11:06lizard and coyote were having an argument about what shape man would take.
00:11:12Lizard won the argument.
00:11:15They finally agreed that man's hands would be shaped like lizards.
00:11:20Four fingers and a thumb.
00:11:23Hey, that's right.
00:11:26Was that the end of the story?
00:11:28Not quite.
00:11:30Coyote drove a hard bargain.
00:11:32He agreed that man's hands would be shaped like lizards,
00:11:35rather than his paws.
00:11:37But only, only,
00:11:39if man would be mortal
00:11:43and never again try to be like lizards.
00:11:48You see, quite a distance up here.
00:12:00Although we've got a lot more air pollution than we used to.
00:12:05That's Albuquerque over there.
00:12:06And that road leads to Santa Fe, northeast.
00:12:13And the river's over there.
00:12:16Paul, where are we exactly?
00:12:20I'm sorry.
00:12:21We're on the top of Sandia Crest.
00:12:24It's 10,678 feet up or down.
00:12:28Depending on where you are
00:12:31and your point of view.
00:12:36Yeah, I'd like to come up here at night.
00:12:40It's one of my favorite places on earth.
00:12:44It's always so peaceful.
00:12:48So quiet.
00:12:52Somehow above the rest of my life.
00:12:54Right on schedule.
00:13:17Paul, what's wrong?
00:13:18What is it?
00:13:24Paul, are you all right?
00:13:39What happened?
00:13:43A meteorite.
00:13:45A lunar meteorite.
00:13:47A meteorite?
00:13:49We heard about it earlier on TV.
00:13:51Yes, but here?
00:13:56Well, we're right in the area
00:13:57where they're due to fall.
00:14:00I guess we can consider ourselves lucky.
00:14:08What's the matter?
00:14:09You've got a scratch or something
00:14:11on your forehead.
00:14:14I don't feel anything.
00:14:16Oh, no, don't touch it.
00:14:17Let me do that.
00:14:19I must have bumped it
00:14:20when we hit the dirt.
00:14:21Let me clean it up anyway.
00:14:26See, you were bleeding.
00:14:29That's nothing.
00:14:34Hey, Kathy.
00:14:37Look at that.
00:14:38That'll make a great souvenir.
00:14:52My own personal moon rock.
00:14:54Moon rock?
00:14:55Oh, wow.
00:14:57Did I say something wrong?
00:14:58No, but you just reminded me.
00:15:00I'm supposed to go into town tomorrow.
00:15:02There's a NASA exhibit at the university
00:15:04and I'm supposed to cover it.
00:15:06That's a great idea.
00:15:08We'll go to the exhibit.
00:15:10Then we'll have some supper.
00:15:12Then we'll go out afterwards.
00:15:16Just in case the moon rock
00:15:17hasn't cooled off.
00:15:18It's cool enough to travel now.
00:15:32Have you got a first aid kit in that bag?
00:15:39A few things.
00:15:41Why?
00:15:42I'm still worried about that cut on your head.
00:15:45It could get infected.
00:15:47Look, I don't live far from here.
00:15:50And I've got all kinds of antiseptic
00:15:52in my medicine cabinet
00:15:53at my place.
00:15:57Your place?
00:15:57My place.
00:16:03Fine.
00:16:04Your place, then.
00:16:27I've got a couple of activities.
00:16:31I had to reflect on my mind.
00:16:31That's bad.
00:16:32I'm not going to work.
00:16:33I don't have to wear.
00:16:34I don't have to wear.
00:16:35I don't have to wear.
00:16:36I don't have to wear.
00:16:38I don't wear a mask.
00:16:39I don't wear an mask.
00:16:40I don't wear it.
00:16:41I don't wear it.
00:16:42It's what I wear.
00:16:44I wear it.
00:16:51I hate my mask.
00:16:53I don't wear it.
00:16:54I don't wear it.
00:16:55You're not场.
00:16:56I'm not.
00:16:57I don't wear it.
00:16:57I gather nobody's home.
00:16:59My mother's in Europe. She travels a lot.
00:17:27Now that the real Paul Carlson has stood up, what do you think?
00:17:45I think you've spent a lot of your life being lonely.
00:17:51When your parents are divorced, you get used to it.
00:17:55I'd like you to meet a friend of mine.
00:18:06Hey, his name is Ty.
00:18:09Ty?
00:18:10Short for Tyrannosaurus.
00:18:12Sounds like something in a museum.
00:18:15It is, usually.
00:18:17Ty looks a lot like a dinosaur.
00:18:20Or like the dragon the Indians call Avenue.
00:18:23Thank you for introducing me to your friend.
00:18:26Well, I hope he didn't frighten you.
00:18:30Paul.
00:18:34It's us I'm really frightened about.
00:18:39Kathy.
00:18:40There's nothing.
00:18:54Excuse me, I want to get a closer look at this moon rock.
00:19:10Paul! Paul, what happened?
00:19:22I guess I've knocked out.
00:19:26I'm okay.
00:19:28Are you sure?
00:19:30Yeah, I'm fine. I just need some fresh air.
00:19:40My voice been getting froggy, I've been smoking too damn much.
00:20:01Singing songs to the sun that's rising, rhyming words I cannot touch.
00:20:09Oh, I've been wandering in circles with just a guitar in my hand.
00:20:17Playing one too many barrooms and drinking more than I can stand.
00:20:25California lady, won't you bring your love to me?
00:20:33California lady, she's the one I wanna see.
00:20:40I'm gonna seem a California lady.
00:20:48Doin' I better off if we take you home.
00:20:51Right now.
00:20:53Johnny's right, Paul. You're going home.
00:20:55You're going home.
00:20:56I'm hung out in Chicago with a California mind.
00:21:03Oh, lady love and lord above these city mountains aren't my kind.
00:21:11Oh, I've been wandering in circles with just a guitar in my hand.
00:21:18And playing all them funky barrooms and drinking more than I can stand.
00:21:27California lady, won't you bring your love to me?
00:21:34California lady, she's the one I wanna see.
00:21:41California lady, California lady, California lady.
00:21:51I'm just not sure. Leaving him alone.
00:22:03It's the best way.
00:22:05Paul's still learning a lot of things.
00:22:08Such as?
00:22:10Such as how to accept help from other people.
00:22:13He's used to doing things for himself.
00:22:20He's been a loner a long time.
00:22:23It's not easy to change.
00:22:25Even so.
00:22:26Tell you what.
00:22:28If Paul calls me during the night,
00:22:31I'll call you and come pick you up.
00:22:35How's that?
00:22:37I'll buy that.
00:22:43I'll buy that.
00:22:44I'll buy that.
00:22:46I'll buy that.
00:22:47I'll buy that.
00:22:49I'll buy that.
00:22:51I'll buy that.
00:22:53I'll buy that.
00:22:55And if Paul calls me first?
00:22:56Yes.
00:23:13Oh, my God.
00:23:43Oh, my God.
00:24:13Oh, my God.
00:24:43Oh, my God.
00:25:13Oh, my God.
00:25:43That concludes the national news.
00:25:48Now turning to the news of the local Albuquerque area.
00:25:52Twenty-five people were stranded this afternoon for over four hours on the Sandia cable lift.
00:25:58The lift was halted due to a severe thunder and lightning storm, which swept through the Sandia range at approximately two o'clock this afternoon.
00:26:06No major injuries were reported, although seven people did request hospitalization.
00:26:13Also stranded atop the crest, of course, three hundred people for a vacation.
00:26:17Oh, go to hell, Sid.
00:26:20Oh, go to hell, Sid.
00:26:21I told you what was going to happen when you came home again from that bowling alley drunk.
00:26:27I'm going to bed.
00:26:29And you can just sleep it off out there.
00:26:34Go to hell.
00:26:42Who was there?
00:26:44Go to hell.
00:26:47I told you.
00:26:52Oh, my God.
00:26:53Oh, my God.
00:26:54Oh, my God.
00:26:56Oh, my God.
00:26:57Oh, my God.
00:26:57No!
00:27:27No!
00:27:29No!
00:27:31No!
00:27:33No!
00:27:35No!
00:27:37No!
00:27:39No!
00:27:41No!
00:27:43No!
00:27:45No!
00:27:47No!
00:27:49No!
00:27:51No!
00:27:53Thanks, Kramer, for bringing the plester.
00:27:55Hello, Mac.
00:27:59What happened here?
00:28:01Killing the messy one.
00:28:03The medical examiner's report being phoned in?
00:28:05I'll make sure I'll have a copy of your desk when you get back at me.
00:28:07Good.
00:28:09Let me have copies of the other reports, too.
00:28:11All of them.
00:28:12Yes, sir.
00:28:13Fine.
00:28:14Check in the house and see if you can lend a hand.
00:28:20Now I'll tell you why.
00:28:22Exactly why I asked you here.
00:28:24I was wondering.
00:28:25It sounded urgent.
00:28:26It's because I need an opinion from you.
00:28:28I feel this in medicine.
00:28:30You know that, Mac.
00:28:31I know.
00:28:32Well, what then?
00:28:33One problem with being a cop is that eventually you think you've seen everything.
00:28:37Well, this morning I found out I was wrong.
00:28:40This is different.
00:28:42Uh, which one is him?
00:28:45Him.
00:28:50The woman had a weak heart.
00:28:52And what she saw when she opened the door apparently finished her.
00:28:55There's no report of any violence on her.
00:28:58But take a look at the man.
00:29:04What kind of thing would cut up someone like that?
00:29:07Could have been a mountain lion, Mac.
00:29:10No, Jenny.
00:29:11Not that easy.
00:29:16I want to show you something one of my men found at the back of the house.
00:29:24Whatever.
00:29:25Killed Harris, must have tripped over the garden hose and grabbed at the side of the house for support.
00:29:32Uh, take a break.
00:29:34I'll, uh, check this, yes.
00:29:36You're right.
00:29:39That wasn't made by a mountain lion.
00:29:42That mark was made by a human hand.
00:29:45Well, I would agree with you except for one thing.
00:29:48You tell me what kind of human makes a footprint like that.
00:29:53Now you get the picture, Jenny?
00:29:58When I got that radio call, I thought someone had made a real goof.
00:30:03But when I saw Harris, I had to believe it.
00:30:09Harris was killed by some kind of thing that was nearly seven feet tall.
00:30:16Had hands with claws on the fingers.
00:30:21And walked on feet like I've never seen before.
00:30:27Well, that's why I had to bring you here, Jenny.
00:30:31Now, you're right. This is not some kind of medical problem.
00:30:34I don't know what kind of problem it is.
00:30:38You're an anthropologist, Johnny.
00:30:41I thought, well, just maybe, you might be able to help us with this.
00:30:47Well, I can't tell you.
00:30:50I've seen a track like that before.
00:30:53Where?
00:30:55In a museum.
00:30:57A fossil track.
00:30:59Several million years old.
00:31:00Have you men met a plastic after the track?
00:31:05Hmm.
00:31:07We might get a better answer from the paleontology department at the university.
00:31:11The department head, Dietz, he's a friend of mine.
00:31:14Let's go now.
00:31:16The casting should be ready.
00:31:17You ready?
00:31:18Wake up.
00:31:28Wake up!
00:31:30Wake up!
00:31:32Wake up!
00:31:33Wake up!
00:31:34Wake up!
00:31:35I decided to make breakfast for us while you hit the shower.
00:31:47Paul!
00:31:48I decided to make breakfast for us while you hit the shower.
00:32:01Paul!
00:32:06I agree with Professor Salinas.
00:32:08Your casting here is that of the left hind foot of some form of reptile,
00:32:14some very, very large lizard.
00:32:17I still can't believe that there are lizards that big in New Mexico
00:32:20or anywhere else for that matter.
00:32:22Sorry, Captain McCabe, you're wrong about that.
00:32:25There is a lizard we call Varnus comodensis.
00:32:28There's some photos of him over in the paleontology lab
00:32:31who grows to be all of ten feet long.
00:32:34He's quite a fellow.
00:32:36The Indonesians call him the Komodo dragon.
00:32:39Gee, is it possible that one of these lizards is here?
00:32:42Somehow...
00:32:43I don't think so.
00:32:45And if there were one somehow on the loose, it wouldn't be what you're looking for.
00:32:50The Komodo dragon walks on four feet.
00:32:53This indicates a lizard that can walk upright.
00:32:57Some form of reptile closely related to the Tyrannosaurus rets.
00:33:12Thanks, Johnny.
00:33:13How in the hell am I going to tell the commissioner or anyone down at City Hall?
00:33:18A man was killed on the doorstep of his own home last night by some kind of dinosaur.
00:33:25How do you feel today, Paul?
00:33:54Oh, a lot better than yesterday.
00:33:57Hi.
00:33:58Hi.
00:33:59Hey, they're pretty good.
00:34:01But you should see Johnny work with the boat.
00:34:03Our scholarly anthropologist here was the conference archery champ in college.
00:34:08I've seen his trophies.
00:34:10How about a little demonstration for our camp?
00:34:13All right.
00:34:16Come on, Johnny Longbow.
00:34:19I'd like to see you live up to your name.
00:34:35Johnny made everything himself.
00:34:37Even the arrowheads.
00:34:39Everything is authentic Indian.
00:34:44Okay, Johnny.
00:34:49Now let's really impress the lady from New York.
00:34:54Hold this.
00:35:22Hold this.
00:35:50Paul!
00:35:51I think he opened it by coming out here today.
00:35:55Better get him home, Kathy.
00:35:57Oh, no.
00:36:10You're not talking me out of it this time.
00:36:14I'm staying.
00:36:17You need looking after.
00:36:22Did you take the aspirin?
00:36:24Yes, Master.
00:36:29There.
00:36:30That's better.
00:36:32Dark and restful.
00:36:33You should be able to sleep now.
00:36:35If you should need anything, I'll be right in the den, okay?
00:36:40Okay.
00:36:53All right, you're gonna do it.
00:36:56You should be on the date.
00:36:57If you have one, I'm not going to sleep.
00:36:58I think I just had to sleep.
00:37:00Well, that's all the other.
00:37:01You're gonna have a good time.
00:37:02I thought you could sleep.
00:37:03I had to sleep.
00:37:04I thought this had to sleep.
00:37:05But it's all the other, I should have to sleep.
00:37:06I had to sleep.

00:46:39I'VE LOOKED AT YOUR X-RAYS
00:46:41AND?
00:46:42WE DON'T USUALLY DISCUSS THEM WITH PATIENTS
00:46:44BUT THIS ISN'T A USUAL CASE, MR. CARLSON
00:46:47THIS IS THE NORMAL SITUATION
00:46:52JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA
00:46:55AND THIS IS THE ONE WE TOOK OF YOU
00:46:59WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
00:47:01WHAT'S HAPPENED TO ME?
00:47:03YOU'VE BEEN HIT BY A SMALL PARTICLE OF MATTER OF SOME KIND
00:47:07NOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE ANY PAIN BECAUSE OF THE HIGH SPEED
00:47:11BUT IT IS THERE
00:47:13THEN
00:47:16SOMETHING'S INSIDE MY HEAD?
00:47:19YES
00:47:20IT'S NOT UNCOMMON
00:47:21THERE HAVE BEEN CASES WHERE SERVICEMEN HAVE SURVIVED
00:47:25WITH SMALL PARTICLES OF SHRAPNEL IMBEDDED IN THEIR BRAIN
00:47:28THIS WASN'T SHRAPNEL, DOCTOR
00:47:31SO I UNDERSTOOD
00:47:33A METEORITE, YOU SAID?
00:47:40WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
00:47:41NOW?
00:47:42NOW WE'RE GOING TO KEEP YOU HERE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS FOR OBSERVATION
00:47:46WE'RE GOING TO TAKE MORE X-RAYS
00:47:49IF THAT AREA DOESN'T CLEAR UP
00:47:52WE'RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, SURGICALLY
00:47:58I MADE THESE PHOTOS SEVERAL YEARS AGO
00:48:00WHEN I WAS DOING RESEARCH FOR MY DOCTORATE
00:48:03THEY JUST MIGHT HAVE A CONNECTION TO YOUR KILLER LIZARD
00:48:08AT THIS POINT I'LL SETTLE FOR ANYTHING IN THE WAY I BELIEVE
00:48:12WELL, LET'S SEE IT
00:48:15THIS IS THE FIRST SCENE IN A DEARHEYE PAINTING I WAS SHOWN
00:48:20NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE SEEN IT
00:48:22IT'S SOMETHING LIKE 400 YEARS OLD
00:48:26WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THE INDIAN IN THE PAINTING?
00:48:28IT'S THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY
00:48:32HE'S BEING STRUCK BY A LIGHT THAT COMES DOWN FROM THE SKY
00:48:37WELL, WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?
00:48:41SEE FOR YOURSELF
00:48:43WHATEVER STRUCK HIM FROM THE SKY
00:48:45CHANGE HIM COMPLETELY FROM HUMAN FORM
00:48:47HE BECAME A DEMON LIZARD MONSTER
00:48:59ARROWS HAD NO EFFECT ON HIM
00:49:01WELL, HOW'D THEY GET RID OF THIS DEMON LIZARD?
00:49:06THEY DIDN'T, BUT HE DIED ANYWAY
00:49:09IT WAS CONSUMED BY FIRE
00:49:12BUT WHERE THE FLAMES CAME FROM NOBODY KNOWS
00:49:14THAT'S A MYSTERY
00:49:27AND IT'S STILL A MYSTERY
00:49:28AFTER 400 YEARS
00:49:34I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING
00:49:38IT'S ONLY AN INDIAN LEGEND
00:49:40PART OF OUR TRIBAL CULTURE
00:49:43I KNOW, IT'S FANTASTIC
00:49:45BUT IT'S THE ONE THING THAT TIES IN
00:49:46WITH WHAT THE FISHERMAN SAID
00:49:51HE SAID THE CAMP WAS ATTACKED
00:49:53BY A LIZARD THAT WALKED LIKE A MAN
00:50:01NOW, I WANT YOUR HELP, MAC
00:50:10WELL, WE'VE GOT THE PLACE TO OURSELVES
00:50:15I HAD TO CLOSE UP EARLY ON MY AUTHORITY
00:50:20AND I HOPE THIS PROVES SOMETHING
00:50:23I THINK THEY'LL KNOW IN A MINUTE
00:50:26I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE TODAY
00:50:29WHEN I TRY TO SOLVE A CASE OF INDIAN SUPERSTITION
00:50:31HE NEED SUPERSTITION
00:50:35WE'RE JUST ABOUT TO FIND OUT
00:50:46IT SHOULD BE...
00:50:48SOMEWHERE...
00:50:50JUST ABOUT...
00:50:52HERE
00:50:55WHAT WAS THAT?
00:50:57I DON'T REALLY KNOW
00:51:02MY GUESS IS THAT THERE'S SOME
00:51:04UNUSUAL ELEMENT IN THIS FRAGMENT
00:51:07THAT SYNCHRONIZES WITH THAT LARGER MASS OVER THERE
00:51:12AND IT PRODUCES SOME KIND OF
00:51:14AN ENERGY REACTION
00:51:17YOU MEAN THIS ENERGY OR WHATEVER IT IS
00:51:21YOU'RE TURNING HUMAN INTO A MONSTER
00:51:23JUST LIKE IN THOSE WEREWOLF TALES
00:51:28WHEN THERE'S A FULL MOON IN TRANSYLVANIA
00:51:32I'VE KNOWN YOU FOR A LONG TIME
00:51:34AND YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING
00:51:36I WISH I WAS KIDDING BACK
00:51:38I'M NOT
00:51:40NOW THERE IS AN ANSWER
00:51:42BUT I THINK I KNOW WHAT IT IS
00:51:46AND IT MAKES ME SICK TO THINK ABOUT IT
00:51:53IF WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE
00:51:58THE X-RAYS
00:52:01THE WAY THE METEORITE REACTED
00:52:05AND YOU'RE INDIAN LEGEND
00:52:08THEN THERE'S SOMETHING I'VE GOT TO KNOW FROM MY OWN PEACE OF MIND
00:52:12AND IT MAY BE ROUGH OF COURSE
00:52:15HE'S RIGHT PAUL
00:52:17NOBODY KNOWS WHAT MAY HAPPEN
00:52:24AND LET'S FIND OUT
00:52:26HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE?
00:52:29IT'S SUNDOWN IN HALF AN HOUR
00:52:31THE MOON WILL BE UP AN HOUR OR SO AFTER THAT
00:52:34BEFORE
00:52:40BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS
00:52:42I WANT TO TALK TO CATHY
00:52:45I'M SURE THAT CAN BE ARRANGED
00:52:47SHE'S UP THERE RESERVATION
00:52:48I'LL FULL HER NOW
00:53:05YOU'D BETTER GIVE HER SOME IDEA OF WHAT HE MIGHT HAVE TO GO THROUGH
00:53:09JUST TO PREPARE
00:53:10I'LL TRY
00:53:13CATHY
00:53:15I'LL TALK TO YOU PEOPLE
00:53:17YOU HAD TO MOVE PAUL TO ANOTHER ROOM
00:53:20IS HE IN THERE?
00:53:21WHY IS HE IN THERE?
00:53:23WHY ARE THESE POLIFEMEN HERE?
00:53:24WE'RE NOT SURE WHAT MAY HAPPEN TO PAUL
00:53:26AFTER THE MOONRISE
00:53:28IN FACT MOVING HIM HERE WAS HIS IDEA
00:53:30BUT SURELY
00:53:31THIS IS A HOSPITAL
00:53:34WE CAN'T AFFORD TO TAKE ANY CHANCES
00:53:37THE MOON IS A STRONG EFFECT ON THE EARTH
00:53:40LOOK WHAT IT CAN DO TO THE TIDES
00:53:43IN PAUL'S CASE IT MAY TRIGGER A WHOLE SET OF CHANGES
00:53:46A TEMPORARY RUITATION
00:53:48I WANT TO SEE HIM
00:53:50NOW
00:53:51PLEASE
00:54:01IN A BABY
00:54:20WHAT IT IS!
00:54:22WHAT IT IS!
00:54:23It's nearly sundown now.
00:54:35She shouldn't be in there much longer.
00:54:38All right, I'll get her.
00:54:41Kathy?
00:54:45Kathy?
00:54:53Thanks, Johnny.
00:54:57Can I take you home?
00:55:00No, thank you anyway.
00:55:02No trouble, miss.
00:55:03What am I meant to take you home?
00:55:06Thank you, Captain.
00:55:07I'll be all right.
00:55:08I'd like to stay here at the hospital.
00:55:23The moon is up now.
00:55:39I hope you were right.
00:55:40I don't.
00:55:42I hope you were wrong.
00:55:45Well, we'll know in a few minutes.
00:55:48Something's happening.
00:55:49Oh, my God.
00:55:53Oh, my God.
00:56:23Oh, my God.
00:56:25Oh, my God.
00:56:26Oh, my God.
00:56:27No!
00:56:28No!
00:56:29No!
00:56:30No!
00:56:31No!
00:56:32No!
00:56:33No!
00:56:34No!
00:56:35No!
00:56:52Then it's true.
00:56:55It was me.
00:56:57I killed all those people.
00:56:59Now, it wasn't your fault, son.
00:57:01They won't convict you.
00:57:02They won't even blame you once the people know the facts.
00:57:05It will soon have you back to Norman, Paul.
00:57:09Do I need these now?
00:57:11Norman.
00:57:15Dr. Sutton's been in touch with NASA about your case.
00:57:18They're sending one of their top lunar scientists
00:57:20and one of the finest brain surgeons in the country.
00:57:25You see, that particle of meteor in the front part of your brain,
00:57:29it's causing the problem.
00:57:31And it's removed.
00:57:32You won't have a thing to worry about.
00:57:33You can go back to the region in your normal life.
00:57:38I'd like to see Chianti.
00:57:41Please.
00:57:55My dear, she's a guy.
00:57:56I got my fear.
00:57:57I'm sorry.
00:57:58I'm sorry.
00:57:59I'm sorry.
00:58:00I don't know.
00:58:01I got my fear.
00:58:02I was crying.
00:58:03I got my fear, I got my fear.
00:58:04I got my fear.
00:58:05And I can go?
00:58:06I got my fear.
00:58:07I'm afraid to go back up.
00:58:08I'm afraid to go back up my foot.
00:58:09Would you fasten your seatbelts, please? We'll be landing shortly.
00:58:20When are we due in Albuquerque?
00:58:22In about 20 minutes.
00:58:23The captain got a message a few minutes ago.
00:58:25You and Dr. Lawrence will be met at the airport.
00:58:30May we get off first, please? We just have some hand luggage.
00:58:33That's also been arranged.
00:58:34You and Dr. Rizzo are to be given every cooperation.
00:58:39I must admit, I was pretty startled last night when I got the call.
00:58:44So was I. I've never come up against a case anything like it.
00:58:47And I've had a few unusual ones, I must say.
00:58:50We've been worried at NASA all through the Apollo program
00:58:53about the possibility that something could cause a mutated life form.
00:58:59Nothing ever happened.
00:59:01Until now.
00:59:06It's all right. Just get me to lose, Jim.
00:59:08Oh, Paul.
00:59:09This is Dr. Rizzo.
00:59:11How are you, Paul?
00:59:12I'm going to be operating on you in just a little while.
00:59:15Glad to see you.
00:59:17What happens now?
00:59:19We're going to make another set of x-rays just to check on the particle.
00:59:23The new set will give us an exact pinpointing of the spot in the left frontal lobe where it is.
00:59:28I thought you should see these right away, Doctor.
00:59:38I think we should look at these inside.
00:59:45What's the matter?
00:59:46I don't know.
00:59:48I'll try to find out.
00:59:55If you look at the difference in the affected areas,
00:59:59you'll notice considerable change, Doctor.
01:00:03There's been a definite growth.
01:00:06From the look of it, I'd say the particle in that young man's brain has disintegrated,
01:00:13and energy factors are spreading through his entire system.
01:00:17No question about it.
01:00:19Isn't there any way of, well, neutralizing the effect, Doctor?
01:00:29That's your field, Dr. Lawrence.
01:00:32Is there something that can be done?
01:00:33We're dealing with a brand new unstable element here,
01:00:38one we've never seen before.
01:00:41We don't know its characteristics, atomic structure, how it reacts.
01:00:47There's a chance.
01:00:49There's always a chance.
01:00:51Eventually, by doing research on the meteorite fragments you showed me,
01:00:56well, we might learn how to cure your friend.
01:01:00But the time, you're saying,
01:01:02By then, it could be too late.
01:01:06I can't give you the timing exactly,
01:01:08but more or less, what's going to happen is that the
01:01:10very presence of the moon itself,
01:01:13a moon rock of gigantic size, if you will,
01:01:16will have a recurring effect on your friend's mutation every night,
01:01:20just as the energy emitted by that particle in his brain
01:01:24was triggered by the small moon rock at our exhibit here.
01:01:29Eventually, the diffusion throughout his body
01:01:32will be complete,
01:01:33and at that point,
01:01:36the situation will be atomically unstable.
01:01:41Then,
01:01:41the energy is released all at once.
01:01:47A form of explosion.
01:01:51Exactly.
01:01:51And when it happens,
01:01:54your young friend will be consumed by it.
01:01:58I've got to talk to you now.
01:02:00Let's go.
01:02:05The demon in the tribal painting.
01:02:10Self-consumed.
01:02:14One Indian mystery solved.
01:02:17Oh, Paul, why couldn't there be time for us?
01:02:25There isn't.
01:02:28And that's why I'm going away.
01:02:31Now,
01:02:33if I'm going to die,
01:02:36I want to die looking like a man,
01:02:40not like a monster.
01:02:42Paul, don't.
01:02:59I need a few minutes.
01:03:03I've got to get away from here.
01:03:06Get away where?
01:03:07I don't know.
01:03:12But I can't stand being locked up here again.
01:03:19Will I see you again?
01:03:26I don't know.
01:03:28I want you to go back to Dr. Sutton's office.
01:03:40And if anybody asks
01:03:41where I am,
01:03:45I want you to tell him I'm on the roof.
01:03:48That'll keep him busy enough for a few minutes.
01:03:51Long enough for me.
01:03:52I won't do it.
01:03:54Kathy.
01:03:54Kathy.
01:03:58Please.
01:04:00Do it for my sake.
01:04:04Do it because we love each other.
01:04:11Oh, Paul.
01:04:15Why did this have to happen to you?
01:04:25It did happen.
01:04:28That's all I know.
01:04:30That's all I know.
01:04:58The stunt I've ever seen.
01:05:10Does that kid think he can get away?
01:05:13The best stunt I've ever seen.
01:05:23Does that kid think he can get away?
01:05:25He's not trying to get away.
01:05:30You don't understand.
01:05:33You just don't.
01:05:43Yes, sir. What can I do for you?
01:05:52I'd like a fog gate shotgun and some shots.
01:05:57Well, we have some very nice models that just came in.
01:06:00Very nice guns. I'll be glad to show them.
01:06:02And by Captain Stuart McCabe, authority of the city's police commissioner.
01:06:08Here's a description of a man being sought whose name is Paul G. Carlson.
01:06:12He's 24 years old, Caucasian, about 6 feet tall, weighing 160.
01:06:19Brown hair, blue eyes, regular features.
01:06:24Carlson was last seen in the vicinity of St. Joseph Hospital.
01:06:28He's believed dressed in tan slacks and a blue sweater.
01:06:34We got a report on him.
01:06:36The owner of a gun shop says he tried to buy a shotgun, but left without it.
01:06:42I don't think he wants it as a weapon.
01:06:45He wants to kill himself.
01:06:48Why, Miss Nolan?
01:06:54Because we overheard what Dr. Lawrence said in the other office.
01:07:00That's why.
01:07:01You might be wrong, Mac.
01:07:05He's on a motorcycle. If he wanted to kill himself...
01:07:07No, no, no. Crashes don't always kill people. He knows that.
01:07:11Now, he tried to find somewhere that was fast and foolproof.
01:07:14Well, if only we had some kind of lead on him. Anything.
01:07:35Yeah, I'd like to come up here at night.
01:07:37It's one of my favorite places on earth.
01:07:40It's always so peaceful.
01:07:43So quiet.
01:07:51I can't stand this waiting around.
01:07:56I think it would be better if I went back to the reservation, don't you?
01:07:59Well, how will you get back?
01:08:08I borrowed Bud's car.
01:08:12I'll phone you if we hear anything.
01:08:14I'll phone you if I can't run.
01:08:23Come here.
01:08:32Come on.
01:08:35I'll hand.

01:11:50Oh, Paul.
01:11:55I know what you intend to do.
01:11:57But you mustn't.
01:11:59Please.
01:12:00You can't.
01:12:01Kathy.
01:12:03I don't know how you thought me.
01:12:05But you've got to leave now.
01:12:08No, Paul.
01:12:09I want to be with you.
01:12:12You can't stay.
01:12:15The sun's going down.
01:12:17It'll be night soon.
01:12:20If I don't reach the crest.
01:12:23Before the moon comes up.
01:12:27Then, you can't stay.
01:12:30Then it'll be too late for the both of us.
01:12:40If anything happens, call me fast.
01:12:54Yes, sir.
01:12:54If anything happens, call me fast.
01:12:56Yes, sir.

01:16:11Captain!
01:16:22What happened? Where's Paul?
01:16:25He got away.
01:16:27Two more men dead.
01:16:29Oh, God.
01:16:32It's too late, though.
01:16:34Not now.
01:16:36He's got to be stopped before there's any more killing.
01:16:39Are you going to try and stop it with a bow and arrow?
01:16:54Not with just any arrow, Mac.
01:16:56I'm going to use this.
01:16:58That looks like a piece of meteor palmhead.
01:17:01It is.
01:17:03I've fashioned an arrowhead out of it.
01:17:06What are you going to do?
01:17:09Johnny, tell me.
01:17:12We're fighting something we barely understand, Kathy.
01:17:15The changes that are...
01:17:18A particle of matter from outer space is made in a human being.
01:17:21That's why I'm doing this.
01:17:23If a particle can generate all that energy,
01:17:26a larger piece from the same element might speed up the energy processes.
01:17:30Dr. Lawrence, Paul and I heard you in the hospital.
01:17:34You said Paul would become atomically unstable.
01:17:38That he would...
01:17:40It was always inevitable.
01:17:42This way it may happen a little sooner, that's all.
01:17:49Johnny, you can't do it.
01:17:51He's your friend, Paul.
01:17:53Paul is...
01:17:54Paul is not Paul anymore.
01:17:56You've seen that.
01:17:58Kathy...
01:17:59He's not as you and I know him.
01:18:02Paul is gone.
01:18:04What you see in this place is nothing we know.
01:18:07Nothing human.
01:18:09No!
01:18:14No!
01:18:27That poor kid.
01:18:28He's had a rough time.
