Hello everyone and welcome. Now we all have heard the story of Countess Elizabeth Báthory of Ecsed (Hungary) and how it was reported that she and certain servants killed hundreds of girls for their blood. Now some writing say this was a true story, while others have said it was nothing more than a witch-hunt, just to take power away from her family. Who knows, bodies were said to have been found. Now the reason I brought this up is because in today's film from 1965 called Blood Thirst is about a different Countess. This Countess is a Golden Goddess among her people of the Philippines. But who is she? When women wind up be found dead and drain of their blood, Inspector Miguel Ramos enlist his friend from NYC detective Adam Rourke to help in the investigation. Will they be able to find murder and who or what is that thing seen abducting some of the women? All this and more will be answered. Staring in this fountain of youth movie we have...Robert Winston as Adam, Vic Diaz as Inspector Miguel Ramos, Katherine Henryk as Sylvia, Yvonne Nielson as Serena, Vic Silayan as Calderone, Eddie Infante as Herrera, Bruno Punzalan as Moreno, Judy Dennis as Theresa, Max Roio as Max and few more lost to history sadly. So let's sit back, make some Gin Pomelo cocktails, take an iron pill and enjoy. Also thanks so much for watching.

00:00:00And, uh, thank you for staying late to help me with the inventory.
00:00:23Always a pleasure, Mr. Calderon.

00:00:28No, just be here at the regular time.
00:00:30And enjoy the day with your families.
00:00:33Good night.
00:00:34Good night, Mr. Calderon.

00:00:41And thanks for staying to help us.
00:00:44You're welcome, sir.
00:00:45Maria, I know it's a beautiful night, but I'm responsible for all of you girls who work here at the club.
00:00:52I feel better if you stayed a few minutes and let me drive you home.
00:00:55You're very thoughtful, but I know the section, and, uh, as you say, it's a beautiful night.
00:01:01Very well, but please, be careful.
00:01:04I will.
00:01:05Good night, Maria.
00:01:06I'll see you tomorrow.
00:01:07Good night, Mr. Calderon, and thank you.

00:05:16ten centimeters long. Not a fraction, more or less, on the inside of both forearms of
00:05:23every single victim. Very calculated and very professional. And every victim a young, attractive
00:05:29girl. No deviation? None. Are you absolutely sure each victim was completely drained of
00:05:36blood? Except for fractional amounts in the hands and head. No, Adam. It could not have
00:05:46been done with anything like that. The incisions are too thin, too neat. We have talked to
00:05:53every friend, every family. Anyone who could help us find any kind of link, any kind of
00:05:59pattern that could tie the victims together. Do you know what we found? No. There's no
00:06:04connection. And Adam, it has to be only one man. No two persons can kill so many people
00:06:14exactly the same way each time. Except for one thing. What's that? What if the killer
00:06:22were Siamese twins? Since you're supposedly here to help my brother, Mr. Rourke, it might
00:06:30be better if you remembered the pressures on him instead of making jokes. I'm glad you're
00:06:34here. Adam, I want you to meet my sister, Sylvia. How do you do, Sylvia? I'm sorry if that
00:06:41last remark created the wrong impression. No apology is necessary, Mr. Rourke. But it
00:06:46might help if you remember that you are in a country whose customs and attitudes are not
00:06:50your own. Sylvia, Adam is an experienced lieutenant of homicide himself. And he is also my friend.
00:06:58Do I make myself clear? Quite clear, Miguel. Now, what is it you wanted? To pour myself
00:07:05a drink. But if I'm disturbing... No, no, no. You know all about this. Go ahead. Is there
00:07:11anything I can get for you, Miguel? A rum and calamansi, please. And, um, for our guest? The
00:07:20same if you'd be so kind. Late yesterday, one of my men raised the fact that Maria Cortez
00:07:28was working as a hostess at the Barrio Club here in the city. Have you done a follow-up
00:07:34over there yet? No. Frankly, I wanted to talk to you first. I'm glad you did. That gives
00:07:41me an idea, Miguel. You don't have any Americans working on the force, right? Therefore, the
00:07:49possibilities of somebody spotting me for a cop are pretty thin. Secondly, I'm a stranger
00:07:55here. So there's no chance of running into any previous acquaintances. Miguel, this is
00:08:02probably the best setup you've ever had for putting in a plant. Now, let me function as
00:08:06an undercover man. I can pass for a tourist. I'll even wear colorful sports shirts and carry
00:08:10two cameras, if you like. What do you say? No, Adam. No. Thank you, Sylvia. We don't know
00:08:25why he drains the blood from his victims. We can only assume that there's some peculiar
00:08:31twist in a sick mind. Do you think there'll be other killings of the club? Not necessarily.
00:08:37Of course, you don't have enough men to warn, much less protect every attractive girl in
00:08:42town. And if our killer even suspected we were trying, he'd pick up and move to a new area,
00:08:47a new city. Then it would be harder to look for him. And in the meantime, there will be more
00:08:53killings. Right. I'll do some digging on my own about this last girl. Maybe it'll help speed
00:09:00things up for you. No heroics now. No foolish chances. Just information. All right? Then there
00:09:09should be no connection between the two of us for a few days. Anyway, I'll provide you with a contact
00:09:17man. Good. Adam, there is another possibility I would like you to know. There are many sophisticated
00:09:26people among us, but there are many more who are not. There have been some rumors in the villages
00:09:33about a strange blood cult, voodoo and the like. And since none of the victim's blood had ever been
00:09:43found on the scenes of the murders, people have begun to think and suspect that it had been
00:09:49taken for some fiendish purpose. Really? I know, I know. But anyway, I would like you to think about
00:09:58it. I'll do better than that. First thing tomorrow morning, I'll go down to the main library and I'll
00:10:03read up on Count Dracula and the medieval witches. My brother is trying to help you. And I'll remember
00:10:10what he said, Sylvia. Don't move. There, at the base of your neck, two small holes. Yes, fang marks.
00:10:18Sylvia, I think that... And I think that only a complete fool would ignore all the possibilities
00:10:24that might apply, even the occult. Regardless, I would like you to bring Adam into town. No thanks,
00:10:31Miguel. I'll call a cab. If there is to be no connection between us, there should be no connection
00:10:36at all, not even a cab driver. Miguel, I prefer if... And I would prefer that you help us in this
00:10:43matter. Since you have just returned after two years of studies in London, no one will recognize
00:10:49you at this hour. The Luzon Hotel is very clean. I'm sure you'll get a room there. My man will contact
00:11:02you tomorrow. Adam, here is additional material that I've prepared for you. Thank you for your
00:11:09hospitality and the spirited conversation. My sister Sylvia is very headstrong, but she means
00:11:15well. I hope you two get along well together. Miguel, I didn't know you had a sister. In here, yes.
00:11:22Her father was connected with an English firm here in Manila before the war. During the occupation,
00:11:28he joined as a guerrilla. He was very brave, but very unlucky. And her mother? Her mother
00:11:35dad a few years back. So your family adopted her? I just ran out of languages. Okay, Harvey boy,
00:11:49let's go. Harvey? Yes, Harvey. I always take him with me whenever I'm working. Oh, by the way, who runs
00:11:54the barrio club? His name is Calderon. Uh-huh. Thanks. The hotel is two blocks back on the other side
00:12:06of the street. I hope you'll forgive me for that little joke I made back at the house. Oh, was that
00:12:12a joke? I see. Well, I guess there isn't too much more to say except good night. Except one thing.
00:12:19Yes? Right now, my brother needs the help of people who can equal his dedication. Not that of...
00:12:25Of wisecracking skeptics who ignore the possibility of the alcohol. All right. I'm just surprised that
00:12:31you believe in such things. Do you have all the answers to life, Mr. Rourke? Not the last time I
00:12:37checked, no. Well, then it might surprise you to find out that there are still some mysteries
00:12:43that science and policemen seem unable to answer. Good night, Mr. Rourke. I came here to help Miguel,
00:12:50and I intend to do it. Because you're his sister, it would make things a lot more pleasant if I had
00:12:55your friendship, too. But I don't need it. Now, in the interest of friendship, I'll make a simple
00:13:00bargain with him. I won't form any final opinions in this case till all the facts are in, if you do the
00:13:06same with me. Okay? Right. Now, if you promise not to tell us so, I'll let you in our one conclusion
00:13:15I've made already. Really? What? Regardless of how it turns out, you must admit that someone has come up
00:13:22with a novel idea for a blood bank. Why, you crude.
00:13:52Do you have a cigarette?
00:14:22Do you have a light? Yeah.
00:14:31Oh. I was just going to ask you something very personal, but you have that business before
00:14:37pleasure look in your eyes. Not really. Yes, really. You're very perceptive. Well, I'm not very
00:14:43subtle, but be sure to ask for me when that look changes. My name's Teresa.
00:14:48Good evening, sir. What would you like? Whatever you make, Pat. Ah, very difficult.
00:15:06Best round. The best way. And no charge for a new visitor's first thing. Your eyes are
00:15:24as sharp as your drinks, huh? A part of my job. Oh, excuse me. Yes. Maybe you can help. This club
00:15:33is run by Mr. Calderon, isn't it? Yes. Where can I find him? Why? I want to talk to her.
00:15:41You're a good man. I'm a stranger. And right away you spotted the fact that I've hit a rob,
00:15:54Mr. Calderon. And maybe even kill him. Maybe you are all right, Pare. But I still won't tell you
00:16:06until you tell me. I'm a writer. Magazine articles in general and anything else I can get in particular.
00:16:14Now, I read the newspaper story about the murder of Maria Cortez. Yes.
00:16:19I would like to put my hands on the one who did that. Then you can help. And Calderon, too.
00:16:28You'll find his office at the top of the stairs, Pat. Thanks. But you must not. He's very sick about that.
00:16:36Now we select the wait until after Serena's dance.
00:16:46Now we select the wait until after Serena's dance.
00:16:49Now we select the wait until after Serena's dance.
00:16:50Now, we select the wait until you turn to the coronavírus.
00:16:55Now they emerge.
00:16:57Now conclusively, there is a way to insan Reyray.
00:17:00Members of Serena too, abscess.
00:17:03Now they graduate from Serena Piura.
00:17:06They graduate from Serena Piura.
00:17:08Now they've made him ask him as it is.
00:17:13They América Piura.
00:17:16Since see her sister,
00:20:17Aren't we ever going to have any time for us?
00:20:19Is there never going to be any rest for either one of us?
00:20:23If you're in a one of these days, we must find it.
00:20:25Excuse me.
00:20:30This is a private office.
00:20:32This is a private office.
00:20:33Oh, I'm awfully sorry.
00:20:35I thought that was a door to a hallway.
00:20:37Get out of here.
00:20:38I'm looking for Mr. Calderon.
00:20:39I have some very important business with him.
00:20:44I'm Calderon.
00:20:45I have nothing to discuss with you.
00:20:46Now, outside.
00:20:47No offense.
00:20:48I just made a clumsy mistake.
00:20:50Please, accept my apologies.
00:20:51Get out.
00:20:52You must be awfully tired after that dance.
00:20:53You must be awfully tired after that dance, but it was wonderful.
00:20:56Like I said before, ma'am.
00:20:58No offense.
00:20:59I'm leaving.
00:21:00Sorry.
00:21:02Well...
00:21:02When were you talking to him?
00:21:13On the stairs, a moment ago.
00:21:14What did you tell him?
00:21:16I believe I said thank you.
00:21:17For what?
00:21:19For the compliment he paid me on my dance.
00:21:23I'm sorry.
00:21:25It's just that...
00:21:26Just that everything makes me nervous ever since Maria was...
00:21:28I know.
00:21:29But don't you think you should go and talk to him?
00:21:32I'll be right back.
00:21:43Well, I think Maria had more spirit and more laughter than anyone I ever knew.
00:21:47You met her at the club, right?
00:21:48Yes.
00:21:49How long had you known her?
00:21:50About two years.
00:21:52Now that she's gone?
00:21:54I don't know, except that I miss her very much.
00:21:57And sometimes when I think of the way she was...
00:22:00Oh, good evening, Mr. Calderon.
00:22:01Good evening, Teresa.
00:22:02Oops.
00:22:02Now, don't worry.
00:22:03I was just leaving.
00:22:05Please.
00:22:06Are you all right, Teresa?
00:22:07Yes, Mr. Calderon.
00:22:08Are you sure?
00:22:10Would you like to go home early tonight?
00:22:12No, I'm fine, really.
00:22:13Good.
00:22:14Then would you excuse us, please?
00:22:15I want to have a word with this gentleman.
00:22:16May we talk?
00:22:21There are many problems to running a business like this.
00:22:26My nerves sometimes.
00:22:28Well, I'm afraid you startled me at such a moment in the office.
00:22:32It's my turn to apologize.
00:22:34My pleasure, Mr. Calderon.
00:22:36You know where I come from, folks don't consider a man a man unless he knows how to make an apology and accept one.
00:22:42That's a very good philosophy, Mr....
00:22:44Rourke.
00:22:45Adam Rourke.
00:22:46Rourke.
00:22:47Rourke.
00:22:50Yes, Mr. Calderon?
00:22:51Whatever Mr. Rourke would like.
00:22:53And have it brought down to us, please.
00:22:55Another of your specials, Rourke.
00:22:57And what would you like?
00:22:58Nothing, thank you.
00:22:59Well, since you said it was an important business, I suggest a lot more privacy.
00:23:05There's nothing secret about it.
00:23:07At least you can sit in more comfort.
00:23:09Please.
00:23:10Whatever you say.
00:23:29You know, it was pretty rude of me to just stand there blabbering away after I busted in your office
00:23:46and I saw you and that lady were having some kind of personal argument, but I...
00:23:50There I go again, sticking my clumsy nose in where it doesn't belong.
00:23:55You know, that's the trouble with all writers.
00:23:57They're just plain nosy.
00:23:59You must be a good writer because you're very perceptive.
00:24:01We were having an argument.
00:24:03I hope you got it all worked out.
00:24:05Just one of the usual conflicts between a headstrong performer and practical businessman.
00:24:09But what a woman.
00:24:11Well, those people out there were reacting to her like a bunch of slaves,
00:24:14all hopped up on buried, discovering the worship of their high priestess.
00:24:18I know I'd buy a ticket just to walk down the street with her.
00:24:21Excuse me.
00:24:22Was this for you, Mr. Calderon?
00:24:24For Mr. Rourke, Elena.
00:24:25Here you are, sir.
00:24:27How are your parents, Elena?
00:24:29Fine, thank you.
00:24:30They're visiting relatives in San Blanco right now.
00:24:33Please give them my regards when they return.
00:24:35Thank you, I will.
00:24:37Nice meeting you, Mr. Rourke.
00:24:38Boy, you sure got good taste in the women you hire.
00:24:46Mr. Rourke, it's very pleasant talking with you.
00:24:49But, well, I hope you appreciate that as owner of the club, I have many things to do.
00:24:55Just what was it you wanted to talk to me about?
00:24:57Well, like I told you, I'm a writer.
00:25:00I'm not a famous writer, but I've always been able to spot an interesting story and make a pretty good living at it.
00:25:06Do I understand that you want to do a story about the club?
00:25:09Well, what I really had in mind was the girl, Maria Cortez.
00:25:13Mr. Rourke, I don't think I'd want to exploit...
00:25:18Now, I know how you feel, and I admire you for it, but I'm not talking about a piece of cheap sensationalism.
00:25:24Human interest is what I'm after.
00:25:26Of course, I'm going to need some background details to make the story ring true, from yourself and other people who knew her.
00:25:31Mr. Calderon, this story can make the Barrier Club famous around the world.
00:25:36And you'll have full approval of everything I write before I send it in for publication.
00:25:39Now, what do you say?
00:25:44Are you from the police?
00:25:47That's very funny.
00:25:48I don't think so.
00:25:49Oh, you would if you know how I reacted to the sight of blood.
00:25:53But I'm sure they'll be around sooner or later.
00:25:55Aren't you?
00:25:57Probably.
00:25:58Yet it seems strange that a tourist should interrupt his vacation for such an unpleasant manner.
00:26:03Mr. Calderon, a writer is a writer.
00:26:05He's always looking for an interesting story.
00:26:08I see.
00:26:09Now, if you agree, I can guarantee that the results will be very profitable for both of them.
00:26:15What do you say?
00:26:16Let me think about it.
00:26:17I'll try to contact you in the morning and give you my decision.
00:26:20Fine.
00:26:21Where are you staying?
00:26:22Luzon Hotel, room 12.
00:26:24I do admit it's an interesting idea.
00:26:26It's just that I have to reconcile my previous affections for Maria with such a concept.
00:26:31Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:32Good night, sir.
00:26:39Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:40Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:41Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:42Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:42Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:43Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:43Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:44Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:44Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:45Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:45Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:46Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:47Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:47Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:48Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:48Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:49Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:50Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:50Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:26:52Good night, Mr. Rourke.
00:27:53No.
00:27:54Nope.
00:27:55There couldn't be that much of a room shortage.
00:28:08Can I assume he worked alone?
00:28:09Sorry about that.
00:28:10Sorry about that.
00:28:11Can I assume he worked alone?
00:28:24Sorry about that.
00:28:25Sorry about that.
00:28:26Sorry about that.
00:28:33Poor Harvey.
00:28:34The things you go through for me.
00:28:40Well, Harvey, old man, you've done it again.
00:28:41You don't know what this means to me.
00:28:46And one of these days, I promise you, I'm going to get you a complete paint job and an overhaul.
00:28:53Wait, Harry, wait, wait.
00:28:54Wait, please.
00:28:55I'm hungry, Harry.
00:28:56I'm hungry.
00:28:57I'm hungry.
00:28:58I'm hungry.
00:28:59Oh, you're truly a monster.
00:29:00May you be happy.
00:29:01Are you all right?
00:29:02Fine.
00:29:03I'm sorry.
00:29:04I'm sorry.
00:29:05I'm very sorry.
00:29:06I'm nothing but a close old fool.
00:29:07Don't worry about it.
00:29:08I'm fine.
00:29:09And I won't even blame you if I didn't have to right away.
00:29:10I'm in love.
00:29:11Don't worry about it.
00:29:12I'm sorry.
00:29:13I'm sorry.
00:29:14I'm sorry.
00:29:15I'm nothing but a close old fool.
00:29:17I'm fine.
00:29:18Fine.
00:29:19I'm fine.
00:29:20I'm fine.
00:29:21You're okay?
00:29:25Good job.
00:29:26Jessica?
00:29:27You're fine.
00:29:28I'm fine, you're fine.
00:29:29Okay?
00:29:30What?
00:29:31What?
00:29:32That's true.
00:29:33I'm fine.
00:29:34Forgive me. And I wouldn't even blame you if you hit me.
00:29:37Look, I said it's fine. Don't worry about it. Guy isn't safe anywhere.
00:29:40And I wouldn't take that knife to the police if I were you.
00:29:44It's a knife, isn't it? Of course, it's very wrong.
00:29:47Yes, a favorite attack weapon in this part of the world.
00:29:51Will you help me up and walk me to that bench on there?
00:29:56Why should I?
00:29:58Because Miguel said that you not only had a sense of humor,
00:30:01but you're kind and generous.
00:30:11And that bundle, if you don't mind.
00:30:17I had a feeling you wouldn't be able to last till morning
00:30:19to take this to Miguel.
00:30:21I feel quite an actor.
00:30:23So were you, while you were talking to Valderon last night.
00:30:26I don't remember seeing you.
00:30:28I didn't want you to.
00:30:30My job is not only to relay information,
00:30:32but also to stay as close as possible to you without arousing suspicion.
00:30:37Oh, yes.
00:30:38I know I don't present a very capable picture at the moment.
00:30:40Well, the bundle you're carrying.
00:30:45It's modern science's contribution to my lack of parts.
00:30:51You'd be surprised how well I can move when I'm wearing it.
00:30:54Like half an hour ago when I pulled your victim across the street.
00:30:58Obviously a suicide.
00:30:59Ha! Suicide?
00:31:02The three bullet holes in him.
00:31:04Barks!
00:31:05Tell me, you carry a gun?
00:31:08Uh-huh.
00:31:09Then why didn't you use it when our friend paid me a visit?
00:31:12I regret that I didn't see him until he was on your balcony.
00:31:15Well, fortunately, you were better prepared than I.
00:31:17But I promise to be more alert next time.
00:31:21That's very consoling.
00:31:24Leave the baron with me.
00:31:26However, I doubt if we'll find more than a few smudge fingerprints on it.
00:31:31What I'm more interested in is finding out if...
00:31:33If your visitor had connection with Calderon.
00:31:35That's right.
00:31:37You'll hear from me.
00:31:38By the way, my name is Herrera.
00:31:41Now give me some more money and pat me on the shoulders and patetically.
00:31:44I still think you're an expensive proposition.
00:31:47You know that, don't you?
00:31:48How's that, hmm?
00:31:49Thank you, thank you.
00:31:50I've never seen such generosity.
00:31:52Bless you.
00:31:52Uh, aren't you forgetting something?
00:31:56Oh.
00:31:58Thanks.
00:31:58I think you'd look more peculiar with three than I do with one.
00:32:14Good evening.
00:32:34Please get in.
00:32:37Yes, you.
00:32:39Doesn't anybody sleep around here?
00:32:44No, no, no.
00:32:45No, no, no...
00:32:46No, no, no...
00:32:49Oh, no, no.
00:32:56No, no, no.
00:33:00I don't know.
00:33:02Go and find out.
00:33:03Should we go?
00:33:05Oh, my God.
00:33:05Watch out.
00:33:07What?
00:33:11I'm sorry.
00:33:11Oh, my God.
00:33:41Oh, my God.
00:34:11Oh, my God.
00:34:41Oh, my God.
00:35:11Oh, my God.
00:35:41I still don't believe it.
00:35:46But there you are.
00:35:47Oh, my God.
00:36:17Oh, my God.
00:36:47Oh, my God.
00:37:17Are you positive she used to work in the club?
00:37:19I was even talking to her the night before last.
00:37:22Was she there last night?
00:37:23I imagine so.
00:37:24Why?
00:37:25Why?
00:37:26Why?
00:37:27Why you did not see her?
00:37:28I didn't make it to the club.
00:37:30Why not?
00:37:31I, uh, I was busy.
00:37:33I was out in the country, just on the other side of the city.
00:37:37Adam, is something the matter?
00:37:40There's something you're not telling me?
00:37:41No, there's nothing.
00:37:42No, there's nothing.
00:37:42No, there's nothing the matter.
00:37:42No, there's nothing the matter.
00:37:42No, there's nothing the matter.
00:37:42It's just that I'm nervous about coming here.
00:37:44It's still too soon to start taking chances.
00:37:47It's not too soon for her.
00:37:50Yes, I'm sorry.
00:37:51I wish I had followed my instincts last night.
00:37:53What do you mean?
00:37:55I was there.
00:37:57She came home drunk.
00:37:59I thought about seeing if I could help, but I didn't.
00:38:02You were there?
00:38:04Yes.
00:38:05Then you are on to something.
00:38:07Not about last night.
00:38:08That was pure coincidence.
00:38:14Oh, I, I'm sorry, Miguel.
00:38:15I, I didn't realize you had company.
00:38:17Well, what is it you wanted?
00:38:19Oh, uh, nothing.
00:38:20I, I'll talk to you later.
00:38:23Well, I was not expecting another killing so soon.
00:38:30I know how you feel, but give me two or three more days.
00:38:33As regrettable as this is, we still don't have anything solid to go on, Miguel.
00:38:37I know.
00:38:39But I'm going back to the morgue to look for some more clues.
00:38:44Anything that we have missed, any clues.
00:38:47Adam, two or three more days.
00:38:50That's all I can afford.
00:38:53Oh, oh, I, I, um, just coming out.
00:39:11There's something I want to say to you about yesterday.
00:39:13There's something I want to say to you.
00:39:18Oh, uh, yes.
00:39:19Good evening, Mr. Calderon.
00:39:48Fascinating woman, isn't she?
00:39:54Yes, she is, Mr. Roy.
00:40:00Just thought I'd check in since I hadn't heard from you.
00:40:03Although I've got the impression you tried to get in touch with me the other night.
00:40:06No, I, I've been busy the last two days.
00:40:10Make a decision yet?
00:40:12Decision?
00:40:12And that story I want to write.
00:40:15Oh, yes, the story.
00:40:17No, I haven't.
00:40:18But I'm sure it'll be all right after we've discussed the few details.
00:40:23Good.
00:40:23I'm glad to hear it.
00:40:25Maybe we can start tonight.
00:40:26No, not tonight.
00:40:29No, not tonight.
00:40:29Come on.
00:40:58Come on!
00:40:59Come, Mr. Locker.
00:41:00You mustn't.
00:41:01There can be lots of trouble.
00:41:02I'll take my chances, Elena.
00:41:07Get out of here.
00:41:10I told you once before, it is not permitted.
00:41:13I was only trying to help, fellas.
00:41:15You made me trouble the last time.
00:41:17Now you mind your business.
00:41:18Well, if that's the way you feel about it, okay.
00:41:24I think I don't like you as much as before.
00:41:28Oh!
00:41:50I'm glad you told me about the trick you pulled on Adam.
00:41:53It was a silly thing to do, but a very feminine one.
00:41:58However, no matter what you feel about Adam, I ask you not to do anything that can interfere.
00:42:09Sylvia?
00:42:11Yes?
00:42:13Could it be possible that you no longer feel the same way about Adam as when he first arrived?
00:42:19It's possible.
00:42:21I see.
00:42:23In a way, I'm glad.
00:42:25Adam is a fine man.
00:42:26In another way, I hope you would consider your emotions more carefully before giving them to men who are in our kind of work.
00:42:36That is one reason why I never got married.
00:42:39I wouldn't like the woman that I love to ever feel the loneliness if I were to be killed suddenly.
00:42:46That's very good advice, Miguel.
00:42:49It's a pity you didn't give it to me before I realized I was in love with him.
00:42:53That's another reason why I never got married.
00:42:58What is?
00:42:59That I still don't understand women.
00:43:01No, Miguel, no.
00:43:10It's still too soon.
00:43:12But it is my responsibility to protect your life, too.
00:43:16Miguel, you know as well as I do, they simply claim that I was trespassing.
00:43:20And legally speaking, they'd be right.
00:43:23Actually, they didn't hurt me that much.
00:43:25If the truth were known, I'm more embarrassed than anything else.
00:43:28I won't wait much longer, Adam.
00:43:30You won't have to.
00:43:31Now, I'm sure we're on the right track.
00:43:33But all we have right now is strong suspicions.
00:43:35Unless, of course, you found proof to tie Calderon in with a hotel room attack and Teresa's murder.
00:43:41Have you?
00:43:42No.
00:43:44Okay, then let's stick with the original plan.
00:43:46Now, what have you found out about Calderon and the woman Serena?
00:43:50All we know here is that they arrived about two years ago with Peruvian passports
00:43:55and have taken out citizenship papers.
00:43:59They had enough money to buy the club and made it a success.
00:44:03We have no idea where either the money or where they came from before that.
00:44:08But I have sent a wire to the police at Lima for more details.
00:44:11And I have sent a wire to the police at Lima for more details.
00:44:41And I have sent a wire to the police at Lima for more details.
00:45:11So...
00:45:12And I have sent a wire to the police at Lima for more details.
00:45:14And I came from a também on their phone.
00:45:16I have sent a wire to the police at Lima for a time.
00:45:19I was told to throw time to make it a mob later.
00:45:23Then I got seen by here.
00:45:25And multiple sides with the police at Lima,
00:45:27that was necessary to hire a word of the police at Lima and 집an.
00:45:29Oh, my God.
00:45:59That's enough, Moreno.
00:46:04Get back to the bar. Go on.
00:46:09Go on. Go on.
00:46:14I see that our easygoing writer also has a temper.
00:46:17Not really.
00:46:18What's the trouble?
00:46:19I'm afraid Moreno's getting a bit overzealous again.
00:46:22Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry for the interruption.
00:46:27The dance will resume in just a moment.
00:46:30Perhaps there's something we can do over there.
00:46:33Excuse me.
00:46:35I'm sorry about interrupting your dance, ma'am.
00:46:38Please accept our apologies.
00:46:40It's just that Moreno is loyal and Mr. Calderon was angry with him
00:46:43for letting you up to the office that first time.
00:46:46Believe me, we'll be more than happy to help you with your story.
00:46:49Oh, he told you about it.
00:46:50Yes, it sounds very interesting.
00:46:52I'm glad to hear that from you.
00:46:54Is he watching us?
00:46:56No.
00:46:58Calderon.
00:46:59No.
00:47:00He's talking to some men over there.
00:47:03Please.
00:47:15No matter what he may have told you,
00:47:16please believe nothing until I've had a chance to talk to you privately.
00:47:19I'll be here tomorrow night at nine.
00:47:22I'll find you.
00:47:24He's to be out of the club on business.
00:47:27Will you do it?
00:47:29Flatly.
00:47:29And I warn you, for your sake as well as my own,
00:47:33please say nothing of this to him.
00:47:35He's charming.
00:47:37But he can also be strange and violent.
00:47:40Will you trust me?
00:47:43Yes, I'll trust you.
00:47:44I need a friend very badly now.
00:47:47And I don't think fate could have brought me a better one than you.
00:47:52I won't let you down.
00:47:55Now I'm asleep.
00:47:56Good night.
00:47:57Good night.
00:47:57Good night.
00:47:59Good night.
00:48:01Good night.
00:48:03Good night.
00:48:05Good night.
00:48:07Good night.
00:48:09Good night.
00:48:11Good night.
00:48:36Good night.
00:48:38Good night.
00:48:40Good night.
00:48:45Good night.
00:48:49Sorry, but you were very impulsive.
00:48:52Besides, it's not nice to hit a cripple.
00:48:58Herrera, would you mind telling me how you did that?
00:49:03Oh, just an old-fashioned hit throw.
00:49:05Oh.
00:49:06Well, what's up?
00:49:08Or did you just drop by to give me a judo lesson?
00:49:11I was coming to your hotel.
00:49:13This afternoon, the parents of a young woman named Elena Menuz reported her missing.
00:49:18They returned from a trip late last night and found her room had been thrown apart.
00:49:22As in a violent fight.
00:49:23But there was no blood.
00:49:25Elena Menuz.
00:49:27She works in the wire club.
00:49:30Of course.
00:49:31That was the girl who tried to keep me from going into Calderon's room.
00:49:34Was she in the club tonight?
00:49:36I didn't see her.
00:49:37Well, Miguel called me and said to tell you right away.
00:49:40He also said that if the buddy is found, he's going to move in on Calderon no matter where we stand.
00:49:45I don't blame him.
00:49:47But tell him this.
00:49:48I spoke to the dancer Serena tonight.
00:49:50She seems a little upset about something.
00:49:52She wants to talk to me tomorrow night after Calderon leaves the club.
00:49:56Now, I don't know what she's up to.
00:49:58But I think it's worthwhile looking into.
00:50:00We can't afford to jump a gun.
00:50:02We don't have enough evidence.
00:50:03But I want to give this guy enough rope to hang himself.
00:50:06When you're convinced, he's the one.
00:50:08In the meantime, have him wait for a telephone call tomorrow night.
00:50:11And when it comes to move, and move fast.
00:50:13All right.
00:50:14And remember to be careful.
00:50:16How can I ever thank you for that advice?
00:50:20Oh, uh, did you say that was a hip throw?
00:50:23Uh-huh.
00:50:23Oh, no, wife.
00:50:47Not this time.
00:50:48Are you all right?
00:51:01Uh, I think so.
00:51:05Uh, just, just a little embarrassed.
00:51:08You're embarrassed?
00:51:09Are you sure you're all right?
00:51:11I didn't hurt you.
00:51:11Now, and it's reassuring to know that you can take care of yourself.
00:51:18I'm great with women, but you should see me with one-legged men.
00:51:21What?
00:51:21Uh.
00:51:22What are you doing here, anyway?
00:51:24I thought I told you I didn't want you getting into any dangerous situations.
00:51:27And you never know what can come flying through that window.
00:51:30Well, I'm sorry.
00:51:31It's just that I was so worried about you, I had to make sure you were all right.
00:51:35Okay.
00:51:36You see I'm all right?
00:51:37Now get going.
00:51:38No, I had another reason for coming.
00:51:41Miguel just received word from his office.
00:51:44The report from the police at Lima stated that Calderon fled the country after he was implicated
00:51:49in the death of a plantation owner from whose factory some young women had disappeared
00:51:54over a period of two years.
00:51:56What about the woman?
00:51:57Her name is Serena Brioso.
00:51:58She's been known to have lived with him for two or three years.
00:52:02Anything else?
00:52:03No, that's all.
00:52:05Oh, yes.
00:52:06Miguel tried to contact Herrera right away, but he couldn't find him.
00:52:09That's probably because he was with me.
00:52:11By the way, does Miguel know you're here tonight?
00:52:15Well, uh, I didn't tell him.
00:52:17Great.
00:52:18Okay.
00:52:19Out.
00:52:19Wait.
00:52:21Uh, since you're so worried about what can come in through that door,
00:52:25well, the only thing that can come in now
00:52:28is moonlight.
00:52:30I say, old man, could I interest you in a team sweater with the number of your local mafia chapter
00:52:59embroidered on the front?
00:53:03No.
00:53:06Well, then how about a slightly used but official Sherlock Holmes decoding rail?
00:53:13No, I guess not.
00:53:15Well, happy hunting.
00:53:17Good night.
00:53:20Good night.
00:53:46i'm glad you came i'm always interested in a good story ma'am my life is in danger and so is yours
00:53:59isn't that a bit dramatic you don't know called around as a maniac and he'll kill to protect his
00:54:07secret look all i wanted was a simple story i know but you can still help me and now you must

00:58:22You see, there is nothing to fear.
00:58:52From now on, we will bury them here.
00:58:56I will take care of the American writer tonight.
00:59:00Afterward, there will be no question, no trace.
00:59:22Thank you for waiting.
00:59:38My pleasure, Serena.
00:59:40May I offer you a drink?
00:59:41Let me do that.
00:59:42What would you like?
00:59:44The same as you, my cautious detective.
00:59:47Of course I knew.
00:59:49But knowing just makes me feel more relaxed, safe in your presence, away from the city and Caldera.
00:59:55Well, here's to a very beautiful and a very perceptive lady.
00:59:59Now, perhaps if you told me what was on your mind, we could make you even more secure and relaxed and do something about it.
01:00:04Yes, but it's such a beautiful night out.
01:00:06Couldn't we enjoy some of it while we talk?
01:00:08I don't suppose you've ever lived with a maniac, have you?
01:00:24No, not lately.
01:00:26You must help me and it must be done quickly.
01:00:28That's why I'm here, Serena.
01:00:29I met Calderon in South America where he was a wealthy plantation owner.
01:00:38He courted me, bought me expensive presents.
01:00:43He took me on weekend trips to beautiful, romantic places.
01:00:47After I'd been living with him for a few months, I found he was married.
01:00:52He said he would kill me if I ever left him.
01:00:54When his wife found out about us and threatened to divorce him, he killed her.
01:01:02Oh, he did it very cleverly.
01:01:04And they never found a body, just evidence of suicide.
01:01:09After playing the role of bereaved husband for a while,
01:01:13he sold the plantation and brought me here where he forces me to dance in his club.
01:01:17And what about Maria Cortez?
01:01:20Yes, he did it.
01:01:21That wasn't very clever, was it, the way he left her body?
01:01:25He was having an affair with her, and when she told him she was going to be married,
01:01:30he became some kind of fiend.
01:01:34And I suppose you know about Teresa's murder?
01:01:38Yes, I know.
01:01:40Why couldn't you have gone to the police as easily as you came to me?
01:01:45Because they have been more stupid than you.
01:01:48And that new girl at the club?
01:01:53The one you obviously know very well.
01:01:57Wouldn't you be interested to know what could happen to her?
01:02:00In all your cleverness,
01:02:02you forgot to consider the possibility
01:02:04that I have an immunity to the drug I put in all the bottles.
01:02:08I didn't see you in common
01:02:12where she became a hunter.
01:02:14I'm not trying to get led to drool.
01:02:15Let's go.
01:02:16Whatever.
01:02:16Let's go.
01:02:19So,
01:02:23here's a story
01:02:29here's what she said.
01:02:32We wanna see her
01:04:34So that's how you did it.
01:04:55Not me, but a loyal servant.
01:04:59In the ancient culture of my people, not my ancestors, my people, a form of human sacrifice was made to appease the sun god.
01:05:08But your historians have been inaccurate in recording the reason why.
01:05:13One was for a form of criminal punishment, similar to the method used in your present society.
01:05:18But the other, that had to do with the true meaning of prolonged life.
01:05:24And what could be more simple and effective than life's blood taken from one woman to sustain the beauty of another.
01:05:32A combination of that blood, electrical energy from the sun, harnessed in a small container, and a powder ground from the roots of trees that lived to be hundreds of years old.
01:05:43That is what gives continually renewed life to those of us that were chosen as golden goddesses.
01:05:49But to ensure that we would never be subject to the damaging effects of a normal life, short-spanned blood was first drained from our bodies.
01:05:57And any person that dared interfere would seem to be a criminal would seem to be a criminal.
01:06:05And you have dared.
01:06:07I'm Antonio Munoz, Lina's father.
01:06:29I wanted to help the policeman in my own way, but I'm not very good at following people.
01:06:33You did all right.
01:06:37Let's go.
01:07:03Let's go.
01:07:07Hey in there!
01:07:09Open up!
01:07:11Anybody home?
01:07:17What?
01:07:18Can I use your phone?
01:07:21Why?
01:07:22There's a killer loose, a homicidal maniacal delusions of ancient history.
01:07:25Now, can I use your phone?
01:07:28No.
01:07:28Right in there.
01:07:29Thanks.
01:07:31Thanks, huh?
01:07:31He breaks in and ruins a man's lip.
01:07:34The better he should steal my blood.
01:07:58No, break it in.
01:08:01You, inside.
01:08:03The rest of you, around the building, quickly.
01:08:15Wait a minute.
01:08:16Why?
01:08:17This way.
01:08:18Wait.
01:08:20Wait.

01:12:24Since you took so much punishment while you were here, we thought that one of you should return in good shape.
01:12:31So that you would not think of us as being inhospitable.
01:12:34Oh, never inhospitable, but sometimes slightly arco.
01:12:38Rara, I'll buy you a pack of cigarettes.
01:12:41But I smoke cigars.
01:12:43Today you smoke cigarettes.
01:12:54Will you be back soon?
