00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest evening forecast from the Met Office.
00:04And low pressure continues to dominate our weather as we go through the rest of today and into Sunday as well.
00:11Look at the bigger picture, it's just anchored to the northwest of the UK.
00:14Tightly packed out of bars indicating some strong winds for the time of year,
00:19particularly across western coastlines and frequent showers, longer spills of rain pushing in as well.
00:24We've seen a band of rain move its way eastwards through today.
00:28It will continue to push out into the North Sea through this evening and into the early hours,
00:32just lingering across Orkney and Shetland.
00:35Elsewhere, a mixture of clear spells and blustery showers moving in overnight.
00:39Clearer skies across central and eastern areas, showers most frequent in the west.
00:43Don't be surprised to hear the odd rumble of thunder through the night as well.
00:47Some of the showers will be on the heavy side, but they will move through quite quickly on a brisk southwesterly breeze.
00:53Still wind gusts around 30 to 40 miles an hour across western coasts.
00:57As a result, temperatures holding up generally in double figures to start Sunday morning.
01:02A bright start for many, some sunny spells.
01:05Largely dry, but showers across the west and the south first thing.
01:08And then as we go through the morning into the afternoon, the showers become more widespread.
01:13Some of the showers will be heavy at times, the risk of some hail and thunder.
01:16But if you miss the showers, you'll see plenty of sunny spells and it will feel fairly pleasant in the sunshine.
01:22But everyone will notice the wind.
01:23It will be a breezy day for everyone.
01:26The strongest winds in the west.
01:27Generally gusts of 30 miles an hour across the country, but the west seeing 40 to 50, perhaps even 60 miles an hour along the east coast of Northern Ireland.
01:34And southwestern parts of Scotland, nearest to the centre of this low pressure system.
01:39This low pressure system may also bring some longer spells of rain for parts of Northern Ireland later and western Scotland too.
01:46In terms of temperatures, generally near average, the high teens to low 20s around 22 or 23 as a maximum temperature towards southeast England.
01:55Into the evening time, we'll see further blustery showers, longer spells of rain as the low pressure continues to drive those weather systems in.
02:03Some clearer spells developing for a time across central and eastern parts of England overnight.
02:08But generally elsewhere, showers and longer spells of rain.
02:11Some heavy downpours possible as well, staying quite windy for much of us.
02:17And that will keep temperatures up once again, generally between 12 and 15 Celsius.
02:21So Monday, some dry weather to start the morning across eastern parts of England, East Anglia.
02:28But showers quickly moving in here and then a day of sunshine and blustery showers across the country.
02:34Monday is the first day of meteorological autumn and it will feel it out there.
02:39There'll be quite a brisk breeze around.
02:41In the sunshine, it's still fairly strong.
02:43So it will feel pleasant if you manage to shelter away from the showers and away from the breeze.
02:48Temperatures largely high teens to low 20s once more.
02:53And that blustery theme is set to continue for the week ahead.
02:57We'll continue to see low pressure dominating.
02:59We'll see showers, some longer spells of rain.
03:02But there'll be some sunnier breaks at times too.
03:04Perhaps Wednesday looking a slightly drier day at this stage.
03:08And temperatures around average still for the time of year.
03:11The beginning of September, the high teens to low 20s.
