Rain moves across western areas this Thursday, with showers in Shetland and clearer skies in eastern regions. Northern Ireland sees the heaviest rain early on, easing later as brighter spells follow. Showers persist along southern and western coasts, while temperatures remain similar to yesterday. Tonight, rain clears northeast, leaving colder conditions with frost and fog by Friday morning. Friday starts bright but turns wet again as persistent rain spreads from the west, affecting Northern Ireland, Wales, and southwest England. Saturday brings further rain northwards, followed by showers and slightly milder temperatures. Stay prepared for unsettled, wet, and breezy conditions.

00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Rain is arriving across the west, further east a dry start to the day, although we are
00:09seeing some showers across Shetland.
00:11The air is relatively cold.
00:13This is a weakening band of rain, sporadic birds pushing over north eastwards, pivoting
00:17across Northern Ireland.
00:18You'll see probably the most wet weather and then it turns drier into Friday morning with
00:23a frost and fog before yet again more wet weather comes in.
00:27And this band of rain will be more persistent, slow moving, a broader area of wet weather
00:32and also the winds will be stronger as well into Saturday morning.
00:36For the time being there are the showers of the Northern Isles, clearer skies across mainland
00:40Scotland, the rain clipping Western Isles, South West Scotland, Northern England and Northern
00:44Ireland seeing some heavier pulses through the morning.
00:48That rain extends down towards East Wales in Midland, Central Southern England but notice
00:51showers already moving in, that rain has cleared the West Country as well as Wales and those
00:55showers will continue through the day.
00:57But notice the cloud is breaking behind this band of rain so you should see some brighter
01:02weather.
01:03Certainly some brighter weather coming through across the far north of Scotland.
01:07Eastern counties through the morning seeing some clearer skies but this band of rain just
01:12pushing towards these parts as we head into late morning through the afternoon.
01:18That rain already across central and southern parts of Scotland will push into more northern
01:23areas as it continues to rain across Western Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:29Brighter skies in its wake with those showers across southern and western facing coasts and
01:33that brisk breeze continues across eastern Scotland clipping the far east of England.
01:38Temperatures will be similar to yesterday.
01:41Now let's head into this evening and see what's happening.
01:44Well two things are happening.
01:46First of all the rain is slowly clearing towards the north east.
01:50Clearer skies inland, still those showers just peppering coastlines but it is going to turn
01:56a lot colder.
01:58Expect a frost into the early hours of Friday morning and with lighter breezes also some fog is
02:03likely.
02:04It's going to be a cold start to the day then but bright with some sunshine.
02:08But that's not the end of the story as you see that cloud and rain roll in from the west.
02:13So by around mid morning, Northern Ireland, Wales, the west country, some heavier pulses
02:17are likely yet again and we could see that rain being quite persistent through the afternoon.
02:22So some good few hours of rain likely as it slowly pushes towards southwest Scotland,
02:28eastern counties of England.
02:29And your outlook through Saturday, it reaches the north there with showers to follow and temperatures
02:33recovering just a little bit wherever you are.
02:36Take care, have a good day and I'll see you again soon.
02:38Thank you
