A band of rain moving eastwards, heavy at times with the odd rumble of thunder and gusty winds. Brightening up across Wales and southwest England, with the odd coastal shower, with a mix of sunny spells and showers for Northern Ireland. Temperatures around the seasonal average, but still feeling warm in the far east - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the afternoon of 27/08/2025. Bringing you today’s forecast is Honor Criswick.
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. It's certainly going to feel more autumnal this week and it's definitely worth keeping your rain jacket close by this afternoon.
00:08A band of showery rain will slowly skirt its way eastwards, this turning heavy at times and we may even hear the odd rumble of thunder and some quite gusty winds.
00:16So you're certainly going to catch a heavy downpour this afternoon if you find yourself underneath this band.
00:21But it will eventually brighten up across Wales, parts of the south-west later on this afternoon.
00:26So sunny spells here but it's likely to still remain rather breezy and it's still worth keeping a coat close by.
00:32We can't rule out the odd shower just skirting into coastal areas.
00:35Now temperatures are starting to return to around average for the time of year.
00:38Still warm in the far east and north-east of Scotland. Highs reaching around 23 degrees Celsius.
00:45Through into the afternoon we'll still continue to see these showers push their way north-eastward.
00:49Still heavy at times but eventually clearing their way to the north-east, perhaps lingering for the longest across parts of East Anglia and south-east England.
00:57But across central parts of England, the east and south-east, it will turn clearer, drier and turning a little cooler under clear skies.
01:04But in the west a slightly milder, more cloud and showers set to continue here.
01:09Lowes reaching around 11 to 12 degrees Celsius.
01:13So a bright start where we'll see the cool skies overnight around central and eastern parts of England.
01:18But eventually we'll see more clouds spill in from the west, more showers moving their way eastwards.
01:24Once again heavy and thundery at times before merging into longer spells of rain across Northern Ireland later on into the afternoon.
01:31And once again quite blustery if you do catch any of those heavier downpours.
01:36Fairly similar temperatures as well.
01:38Highs reaching around 22 to 23 degrees Celsius but a lot fresher across the far north, particularly in the north-west of Scotland.
01:44Temperatures in the mid to high teens here.
01:46Into the evening, a continuation of those showers.
01:50Still drifting their way eastwards, most persistent across western areas.
01:54And for the rest of the week, low pressure is still going to be mostly dominating.
01:59Particularly across the south and south-west on Thursday and Friday.
02:02Might catch some longer spells of rain here.
02:04Perhaps some quite blustery weather too.
02:06And do keep an eye out on our website and across our social media channels.
