Hibs transfer deadline day latest
Transcript
00:00I'm Martin Simpson, sports editor at the Evening News, joined by our Hibs correspondent John
00:03Beekin, still making his way back from Poland. John, we're expecting now that the dust has
00:11settled on Hibs European Adventure for it to be a reasonably busy couple of days leading up to
00:17deadline day on Monday. Tell us a bit about the sort of business we can expect Hibs to do firstly
00:22on incomings. Well, let's get the first things first. I'm at Frankfurt Airport in my favourite
00:30Falcone's restaurant, where I think I've eaten here five times during this European campaign.
00:35So, I haven't slept, so apologies if I miss anyone out. I think they will be going for
00:41an other striker. I think the invites might be closer than is being suggested. They're still
00:48in the market for a midfielder. Maybe I like that. I don't know. It's one of these where
00:53they'll be plan A, plan B, based on what happened last night, but not entirely down to last night.
01:02There's full investment and support there from the Gordon family and opportunities to do more
01:08business.
01:10Yeah, the Gordon family certainly put in their hands in their pocket. This transfer window
01:15so far in Lyndon Dykes, you believe would be a real statement signing for Hibs. There was
01:22reported interest from elsewhere in the SPFL. Obviously, we don't know who that is, but assuming
01:29it's not Celtic or Rangers, only realistically you think leaves Hearts Aberdeen and Hibs. We
01:36don't think Hearts need a new striker. So, assuming it's Aberdeen, for example, you've got the sway
01:41of European football, which Hibs, alas, do not have to offer. But I was reading that maybe
01:47we've got big David Marshall kind of making a few phone calls, bigging Hibs up here to
01:53his old Scotland teammates. Maybe that helped bring Grant Hanley in and it could do the same
01:58for Dykes.
