00:00Search is on for four masked offenders. Two NSW police believe were armed with
00:08kitchen knives following last night's fatal stabbing here in Mount Druitt that
00:12left one 19 year old dead and another 19 year old fighting for his life in
00:17hospital. Police say at around 10 p.m. last night four offenders dressed in
00:21black with their faces covered by balaclavas approached three men at the
00:25bus interchange at Mount Druitt train station in Sydney's west. Police say
00:30after the four offenders approached those three men one 19 year old was left
00:36with stab wounds to his chest. He was treated by NSW paramedics but died at
00:42the scene. That second 19 year old who is currently in a serious but stable
00:46condition in Westmead Hospital is believed to have been stabbed through the arm
00:51with police going far as saying that that stab wound penetrated his arm and was
00:55able to reach his chest. That third man who is yet to be formally identified is
01:01believed by NSW police to have effectively been an innocent bystander and
01:06is not believed to have been in any way connected. Police have stopped short of
01:11settling on a potential motive but say early investigations lead them to
01:15believe the surviving 19 year old was asked are you six seven by the four masked
01:21offenders before the alleged stabbing. He's currently under sedation at Westmead
01:26Hospital in a serious but stable condition. Two seven six seven is the
01:32postcode of an adjoining area here in Sydney's west that takes in the
01:36neighbourhood of Dooneside. Now Mount Druitt's postcode is two seven seven zero.
01:41Police have stopped short of saying whether or not this could be an escalation of
01:45what police have previously described as Sydney's postcode wars. The male that's in
01:52hospital at the moment has been sedated so we haven't had a chance to speak to
01:56him yet just to confirm those details but our initial reports on the scene was
02:00there was some conversation about are you six seven obviously one of the street
02:04gangs that are out here in Western Sydney and again that's something we'll be
02:07following on. Police say they believe those four masked offenders fled in a
02:12southerly direction across the train tracks here at Mount Druitt train station.
02:17They've been combing the area throughout the morning and have also shut the rail
02:21line as these investigations continue. Police have also discovered a knife
02:26earlier today although it is unconfirmed as to whether that item is in any way
02:31related. Now the two victims are known to police homicide detectives are currently on
02:36scene here joined by local police and New South Wales police have established
02:41strike force coberta as these investigations continue.
