00:00Another thing that I found kind of funny about today on Twitter is that after Kyle Shanahan was like,
00:09yeah, we're not doing anything with the kickers.
00:12Like, we like Jake Moody.
00:13And then all the Niner reporters go on all the shows, and they're like, yeah, no, they're keeping Jake Moody.
00:20And then cut down day comes, and every Niner reporter's like, oh, that kicker just got released.
00:26That kicker just got released.
00:28It's almost like we're being teased.
00:30They're like, you want that kicker?
00:31Do you want that kicker?
00:32I'm like, yes, I want all the kickers.
00:34But they're not going to make a move on it yet, even though there were some interesting names that were put out on the street.
00:42And I'm looking over your shoulder right now, and I see a piece of paper that's got a bunch of red chicken scratches on it.
00:48That's actually good penmanship.
00:50I've come a long way.
00:51Again, I'm looking at it from far.
00:52And so, to me, it looks like chicken scratches, but it appears to be some sort of a kicking compilation sensation.
01:00Yeah, it's all the kickers that got cut today.
01:04And there's a total of seven kickers who did not survive cut down day.
01:10And so, you know, I was thinking, would you rather have Jake Moody or the kickers on this list?
01:16And so, when you start to run down, there's a guy named Lucas, sorry, Lucas, Lucas Havrasek.
01:22He was cut today.
01:24Brayden Narvison, he was actually kicked in the league.
01:28Jude, sorry, Jude, Jude McAdamney.
01:32Why are you going to be doing that to my guy?
01:33Jude McAdamney attempted one field goal and one extra point for the New York Giants.
01:38He was a Gaelic football player from across the pond.
01:42Charlie Smith, or Smythe, was cut.
01:44Now, here's some names you've actually heard of.
01:47Chad Ryland.
01:48Okay, yep.
01:49He's a guy who's kicked.
01:50Anders Carlson, cut by Green Bay.
01:53Right, well.
01:54A little bit of an off year last year.
01:55And the year before that.
01:56Don't forget his miscues in the divisional round at Levi's Stadium that left the door open for the 49ers rally in that game.
02:03And the one name that is the sexiest of all is Dustin Hopkins, who.
02:08Cleveland.
02:08Yes, he's made 84% for his career, 10-year career.
02:12P.A.T.'s, he's at 93.6.
02:15Really solid.
02:15But last year he was 18 for 27.
02:18So, do you want to go from a struggling Jake Moody to a 34-year-old guy on the struggle bus?
02:25Not really.
02:26Because Cleveland is going with a guy who's made as many field goals in his career as he has vowels in his name.
02:32Okay.
02:33Who's that?
02:34Zero is the answer.
02:35Andre Sussmit.
02:36Andre Sussmit.
02:37He has no vowels.
02:39Sussmit.
02:39Well, but why?
02:40The Y is technically a Y.
02:41A Y.
02:41Sometimes Y.
02:42A-E-I-O-U.
02:44And sometimes Y.
02:46And the Y only is a vowel if it follows an S-Z-M.
02:51Sussmit.
02:51Yeah, Sussmit.
02:52So, the Browns have chosen Sussmit.
02:53Sussmit.
02:54Sussmit.
02:54Sussmit over Dustin Hopkins.
02:56Dude, you just made a noise.
02:57That wasn't a name.
02:59Now kicking Andre Sussmit.
03:01So, of all these guys who are free, and I know that Greg Joseph is still out there.
03:06Ooh, the white whale.
03:07You'd rather have Moody at this point than any of these no-names.
03:10Well, I actually agree with you except for the one no-name that you left out.
03:14I got my eyes on somebody, Dibs.
03:15You left him completely off of your list.
03:17Uh, not Sussmit?
03:19Not Sussmit.
03:19No, this guy has actually multiple vowels in his last name.
03:23Oh.
03:23He has a young man named Lenny Krieg.
03:26Lenny Krieg.
03:28Um, and the Falcons just waived.
03:31No, I'll tell you.
03:32The Falcons just waived him today because they've got Young Way Koo.
03:36But this is somebody that they are interested in keeping on the practice squad.
03:41They're hoping he makes his way through waivers.
03:44Apparently, there is something called the International Player Pathway.
03:47Have you heard of this before?
03:48No, but I do know that he's German.
03:50Okay, yeah, he's German.
03:51Exactly.
03:52And the International Player Pathway brought him to the Falcons.
03:56They loved what he did in camp.
03:58They put him out there in a preseason game.
04:00And Dibs, he hit one from 57.
04:02Wow.
04:02He nailed one from...
04:03Sounds like Jake Moody.
04:04So he hit one from 57.
04:07They like him.
04:08He had a great camp.
04:09I'd almost rather that.
04:12Like, I know you're not going to do that now.
04:15Especially with someone that you haven't had eyes on in this specific camp.
04:20Especially when he's really struggled with accuracy with the Stuttgart surge.
04:24He did?
04:25Yeah.
04:25He struggled in Stuttgart.
04:26He did?
04:2819 of 26 on field goal attempts in Stuttgart.
04:31Well...
04:31And that's a kicker-friendly league.
04:33No, the weather's crazy over there.
04:34I don't even know.
04:35Like, you're reading AI right now.
04:3711 of 16.
04:38AI is never wrong when it comes to German kickers.
04:40I mean, anyway, point B, I'm not talking specifically about this guy.
04:45I'm talking more about someone like him.
04:47Like, to me, if there is an exciting young leg somewhere, kind of unproven, that's what
04:55I'd be looking for if I'm the 49ers to probably practice squad somebody.
04:59So that somebody's right there in the building if this thing goes awry.
05:04Because we've seen it before.
05:05And that's why I think so many people have an issue with the whole third-round draft pick
05:09thing.
05:09There are really good kickers in this league who've come from nothing.
05:14They came out of nowhere.
05:16And they can kick 55-yarders with regularity, and people just found them as undrafted and
05:22on the street.
05:23That's Brandon Aubrey.
05:24Aubrey in Dallas, the latest example.
05:26So, I don't know.
05:27I guess my issue with the kicker thing is not even so much where Jake Moody's at right
05:32now, as much as the 49ers do not appear to have an open mind.
05:37I think their mind is very open.
05:40Maybe it is.
05:41And I get it.
05:42They don't want to say publicly, yeah, dude is on his last leg.
05:46Pun intended.
05:46But when you come out of that last preseason game and immediately start talking about,
05:52well, we're going to see what Jake does into the season.
05:54Not like week one into the season.
05:57It makes people uncomfortable.
05:59And it makes people think that you're trying to legitimize your pick from a couple of years
06:04ago.
06:04There is that.
06:05And I do think that that is the case with a lot of different positions.
06:09It's not only that way with the kicker.
06:12And you can look at other guys who they held on to and they tried to make it work.
06:16And eventually, you've got to cut ties with them.
06:18And the kicker is an interesting one because it's a necessary evil.
06:22And Jake Moody has a big leg.
06:25He's a guy who has hit from beyond 50.
06:27What, he hit 250 plus in the Super Bowl just a couple of years ago.
06:31So, he hasn't been patently all bad.
06:34So, I think he's earned the right to go out there and regain the job and maintain the job.
06:40And if not, it's not a who's who out there.
06:43Chad Ryland actually has had decent numbers through a couple of years.
06:46So, there are other options, sort of.
06:49But you're going to give Jake Moody the first right of refusal to make mistakes.
