00:00Let's flip it over to college football.
00:01Why?
00:02It's week number one.
00:03The big boys are coming out to play as we take a look at the odds market.
00:07Texas, the favorite to win a championship, Joe, plus 550.
00:10Right behind them, Georgia and Ohio State, plus 650s.
00:14Penn State, 7-1.
00:15Bama, 9-1.
00:16Clemson, 12-1.
00:18The usual suspects up at the top of the odds board, Joe.
00:22If it ain't broke, don't fix it, Don.
00:24We know the national champion is usually always somewhere within the, you know, the top five, top six here, somewhere in that ballpark.
00:35It's not like we're going to get a Cinderella and somebody that was all the way at the bottom, number 25, is somehow going to run the table and win a championship.
00:44So from a national championship standpoint, you got to figure, is it, does Ohio State compete to go back to back?
00:52If not, and you think Texas starts the year off by going into their building and beating them, then they are absolutely the favorite and should be considered the favorite because, let's face it, they got a ton of returning starters.
01:07They've got the quarterback of the NFL future, supposedly the number one future pick.
01:12All is well in Texas, unless they lose a couple of games early on in the season and then all hell will break loose, Donnie.
01:20Focusing on the Alabama Crimson Tide, looking to bounce back this year, and you don't get too many bounce backs at Alabama.
01:26Coming off of what Nick Saban did for so long there, you might have a down season if you will, but you better not have two down seasons.
01:32You'll be down and out for the count.
01:34You look at the Alabama Crimson, excuse me, Alabama this year to make the playoffs.
01:38Yes, it's a minus 172.
01:39It wouldn't be that high if there's only four teams or six teams to make that playoff, but we have 12.
01:43They'll probably get in, or at least the odds market says so.
01:46They do take on the Florida State Seminoles this weekend at Doe Campbell, and they're laying 13.5 points in that game, Joe, with a 50.5 total.
01:55Florida State looking to break back into college football after having that wonderful year just a few short years ago,
02:00and then throwing it all away because they didn't make the college football playoff because their quarterback, Jordan Travis, got hurt.
02:05Looking for that bounce back.
02:06Can they bounce back and beat a Bama team opening day, or is this much more of the choke and doak,
02:12and we just ain't that good this year, FSU?
02:14I mean, I think the market tells you everything.
02:18Doe Campbell used to be one of the toughest places to play in all of college football,
02:25and the fact that Florida State is getting two touchdowns at home to start the season tells you everything you need to know,
02:33and that's not because this is the greatest Alabama team we've ever seen.
02:38No, no, no, it is not, and we are still getting 14 points at Doe Campbell.
02:44That tells you everything you need to know about the future of Florida State this year.
02:48Yeah, we'll see who's that quarterback, too, because you have Ty Simpson having some props at multiple outlets here.
02:53We got no props for Florida State.
02:54We don't even know who the starting quarterback's going to be, how things are going to work out,
02:57and we'll see how it plays out, but a two-touchdown favorite opening up here for Alabama.
03:00Let's take a look at Georgia down in the SEC.
03:03They're favored by 39.5 points over Marshall with a total that's listed at 55.5.
03:08Georgia's playoff odds this year, Joe, a minus 240 to make the playoffs.
03:12So there's two SEC teams as heavy favorites to make the college football playoff.
03:17Georgia breaking in a quarterback that we saw some spots last year can improve this year.
03:22You know they got the talent, and they're favored by a 40 spot.
03:26Listen, it's amazing to me how little press Georgia has been getting and talk.
03:35And, you know, hey, listen, keep talking about Texas, keep talking about Ohio State, all good to go.
03:40Meanwhile, Georgia just re-ups.
03:43They've got a lot of pieces that they have had to replace over the last couple of seasons.
03:48But make no mistake about it, Georgia very much alive for the college football playoff and a national championship.
