05:51It felt good, you know signing here, you know, because you know cincinnati's home now
05:54And you know, it's very important for us to keep going as a trio, you know
05:58Just keep building and getting better and better each and every day
06:01Now there's been so much talk about this team having one of the strongest and most explosive offenses in the league
06:06Just how do you and your teammates embrace those expectations?
06:10Oh, we just go out there and just beat us at the end of the day, you know, I mean, um, you know
06:14Coach pitch and zach they put us in great position to make plays and you know joe does what he do and me and uno just do what we do
06:20Now you and joe just have such an undeniable chemistry. What's the secret to your connection?

11:34It's like it doesn't affect them and that's what you love about a leader to have someone that you know

11:52And indianapolis stretches the lead back out with less than two minutes to play in the first half

12:07Pushing the defender inside give him bentley that left side of the offensive line and touchdown

12:50I think the vibes around this team are pretty good
12:52I think one thing that stood out to me from
12:55I read is about 50 plays that the offensive defense went at it this week
12:59Only one offensive touchdown I was at training camp at the end of july and the defense looked excellent
13:08Al golden said i'll take the slings and arrows of playing a vanilla defense in preseason if it's going to help us in the long run
13:16And ultimately you can be assured that the bengals feel they're in good shape to go to cleveland here in a couple weeks and
13:22Put on a good performance and start off on the right foot this year
13:25And that's one of the things i've been saying because people ask me right away
13:28What do you think of the bengals? What about their defense?
13:30I said you know what it's preseason we got no defensive coordinator some young guys
13:35But i think we'll be fine i think with al golden scheme and what he's doing
13:39i mean you heard duke talk about you know the fundamentals and the teaching that that goes a long way
13:45Playing football so uh i'm looking forward to that first game and see how they do and i believe they'll do well
13:51williams on a short kickoff will take this out to about the 36 yard line
13:56and desmond ritter and the offense get a chance at a two-minute drill to try and cut into the deficit before the break
14:05That's always good for you know either side to get situational football especially for the offense
14:12You got like you mentioned a minute 46. They got a two-minute
14:16Opportunity here starting at their own 36 yard line. So uh, let's see how he handles the offense

14:22You got to kind of speed it up a little bit maybe time management. Let's see how ridder does here

14:39Ritter did try out for the colts in june in their minicamp ultimately signed in cincinnati july 20th
14:46Yeah, that's one of the awareness that a lot of most linemen know now if they can't get penetration
14:51And they can see the quarterback they're long enough. They got those big paws
14:56They just get it up there and hopefully knock it down which they did right then

16:05What 15 seconds and turn it right back over and give the opponents a
16:08opportunity with the two-minute drill so uh
16:11Which because uh, you know would have loved to seen some completed passes there a little pressure
16:15I really had to kind of run around uh, but uh, all right

16:22William wagner was the long snapper there he and cal adam itis still going
16:26toe-to-toe in that position battle and wouldn't you know it he's there to help make the tackle
16:34Made a tackle earlier on special teams pj jewels got their first 52-yard punt for rico
16:40And the colts offense now with the full complement of timeouts

16:49It was a bit up and down for a couple years after the steadiest of punting positions in all of the nfl for so long

17:20And and look you mentioned come back from an injury. That's why you're always looking. It's such a difficult
17:27Position to fill there's always kickers that can do a job, but can they do the job?

18:27And the two rookie linebackers taken early in the draft

21:31so that's a good chunky yard to keep the timeout you've got 19 seconds remaining
21:36and after a gain of 16 you're about 10 yards away from lund mcpherson have a go at it
21:41ritter throws on the middle that is tight tight tight coverage

21:53who is able to make contact with the ball

22:03which is uh colt brennan's alma mater before he went to hawaii

23:34half i do i think he's done a great job fighting for extra yardage getting the explosives the line
23:38have done a good job with him so uh happy about that with two quarters left in the preseason what's
23:43going to be your message to the team at half it'll just be great with the fundamentals you know there's
23:46a couple things that got away from us on both sides of the ball lately here in the second quarter
23:50be better with our fundamentals and finish this game strong thanks a lot zach all right bangles colts

24:22orange polos here uh what do you make of that first half there's certainly a couple moments to
24:26clean up the pick six the long touchdown at the end of the half but cincinnati certainly did run the
24:31football well and that's good to see with the reserve offensive line i think early on the glaring thing
24:35were the penalties uh we eliminated those the running game i love the way those uh running backs right
24:40well in uh hilton uh were running and but other than that i mean you know there's some things to clear up
24:46uh i thought at times uh the coverage was pretty good they're making but then a couple breakdowns but uh
24:52you know young guys out there playing trying to earn a spot and uh hopefully once you get going to
24:56regular season you don't see those big glaring mistakes how about we show you this assortment of
25:00first half highlights and it's the scoring plays in this one it's ultimately ridder throwing the pick six
25:07late in the first quarter picked off by scott cool moment for him so many injuries last couple years
25:14that ball was tipped in root and then ridder ultimately atones at the goal line sneaking in
25:19for bengals touchdown early in the second quarter the response from bentley and then the big play
25:26riley leonard 59 yards to laquan treadwell to put indianapolis at 24 to 7 at the end of the half the
25:36first half stats are brought to you by paramount plus what do they tell you anthony well we talked about
25:41the running game the bengals close to 100 yards but the the big one is the total yards the 183
25:46passing yards and you had the one big one we saw in the highlight the touchdown pass by leonard so uh
25:52you know bengals only have 65 passing yards a little better protection give the quarterback
25:57ridder whoever's in there the second half uh some protection hit you know hits and passes downfield
26:02one turnover but for the most part the glaring thing passing yards total yardage
26:06so we'll see more of desmond ridder here in the second half and it's a picturesque day you hope
26:13we get a lot of days like this in the fall kendall milton is back to return here for cincinnati along
26:18with isaiah williams who handled most of the duties after jermaine burton seemed to pick up a little knock
26:25to his ankle in the first half also saw dejan anthony in the blue tent first in and if we get an update
26:36there we'll let you know not a lot you can do with that if you're williams nope that was deep
26:43the colts just have it's there you went from mcafee and
26:48whether it's vanderjack or vinatary i mean special teams have always been good from the colts but
26:55they've got some serious leg this year they do i mean you know the crazy thing though you mentioned
27:00that look around the league though the way these young guys kick the ball now i mean if you're the
27:04punter kickers the strength and the uh you know jim breach who i played with the entire time all-time
27:10leading scorer we talk about that and just how how they thump the ball now and the sound in the
27:15distance it is amazing it's a handoff to start the half trying to find the edge
27:21and crawling forward kendall milton isaiah land making the tackle marissa caught up with
27:26defensive coordinator al golden at the half what do you have to say well guys he said outside of
27:30giving up that explosive play there before the half he was overall pleased with the way the defensive
27:35operated and played there in the first two quarters he said look you have to remember these guys are not
27:40only fighting for jobs but they're playing a lot the majority of the guys are also playing on special
27:44teams here today he said he told us guys just remain positive keep it simple and play fast here in

36:09i love i mean i know you get rewarded by playing monday night but i love getting up eating at nine
36:14getting to the stadium and kicking off at one just get it going so yeah even though they didn't play
36:18they're on a that regular schedule the schedule they'll be on if the cleveland brown game stays at
36:23one o'clock so you get used to that you get your body waking up earlier you get your body getting to
36:28the stadium at a different time well the bengals are going to play at all times on pretty much all days

38:50fans are so excited to see you take the field week one in cleveland when you signed with cincinnati in
38:55the offseason what ultimately led you into wanting to be a bengal well it was a lot to do you know the
39:02culture they have here and then my i had an old coach that i used to play with previously that was
39:07coming here so that made the decision easier to you know to be able to come here and help the team
39:12you mentioned that old coach jerry montgomery bengals d-line coach at halftime we ran a feature
39:17about the two of you and your relationship just what can bengal's fans expect to see with the
39:21style of play that will be brought to the d-line this year uh very physical front uh very smart
39:28we're going to run to the ball you know we're going to play aggressive now you've known jerry a
39:33long time can you tell us something that fans might not know about jerry that they should know
39:40he's smarter than he looks now like he's smart uh you know he's a real detailed guy uh he's really big
39:46on the game and uh details so he really pushes us hard to really learn that the extra parts of the
39:53game it really puts time into studying and seeing things that we can get so we can play faster now you
39:58mentioned the word physical before can you expand on just kind of what identity you want the bengal's
40:03defensive line and the defense as a whole to play with this season yeah i mean you want joe you want
40:08your defense to be you know physical we want to play fast we want to be nasty you feel me and then we
40:13just you know we want to stop the ball we want to get to the uh you know we want to stop rushing the
40:18pastor you know we just want to go out there and play hard man at the end of the day have fun
40:24and tj when you look at this group that we have here on the d-line there's a lot of experience but
40:28there's also a lot of young talent just how has the chemistry been coming along with the group and
40:33how have you helped mentor some of these guys oh you know they just you know they have their
40:38questions you know you just you gotta answer them you know and then you know we just have fun with
40:43each other man they good and we just like we communicate well with each other so you know we're
40:48just trying to play hard you know just get everything as one tj can't wait to see you on there thanks for the

41:02when you look at where the defense is at right now we didn't see bj hill at all in preseason we
41:06we didn't see much of tj slayton slayton signing a two-year deal didn't miss a single game in four
41:12years in green bay three of those his position coaches mentioned jerry montgomery espn had him the
41:18number one run stop win rate in the nfl last year that gives you an idea of what he's about to do
41:26i like the two things you mentioned first of all i like didn't miss a game and then his ranking
41:30against the run so we filled a spot that we needed so uh kudos to you know duke and the staff for
41:38bringing him in but uh you know when you think about playing in this league and you think about not
41:42missing it's a lineman not missing a game in four years that's pretty impressive
41:48because usually you play that long and you end up with a pinky finger like anthony's yeah you know
41:52you tape it up and it's just kind of you just don't give directions because you misdirect people
41:57you know they i said go right but your pinky said go left so i followed the pink i said i'm sorry
42:01i forgot to tell you and they get lost well every time you drink a drink you look very classy doing it
42:07i was at the live auction once and our bid was 300 so i put the three fingers up and the guy said 300
42:14not 250. wow what a grab that is bean taking a heck of a hit and coleman owen atones for fielding
42:22a punt at his own two yard line by stacking that for 25. makes up for that one i was surprised he got
42:29the net punt was like crazy high and long and he still brought it out i think it was a 68 yard punt
42:36like a five yard return that works that works for the old average
42:45that's the midway point here in the third quarter indianapolis leading cincinnati 31 to 7.

43:54outside cross out of notre dame played for al golden there you mentioned the family lineage in the nfl he's
44:00undersized but he gets every ounce of what he can out of what is an undersized interior defensive line
44:08body and that's one of the things they told us week one in preseason they said when you see howard cross
44:13don't look at his physical makeup look at how he plays with heart and hard and physical
44:19and that he does that exactly thing bean slings over the middle and it's complete to coleman owen
44:25and it's craig young who cleans him up isaiah thomas the football playing isaiah thomas makes the hit
44:37i knew what you were throwing down i just you know
44:43bean is six for seven for 76 yards through the air
44:48good start for him he's listed as a quarterback wide receiver on the roster when he initially arrived
44:53he like michael jordan would say took that personally this is a good run and a heck of a
44:58finish by naquan wright wow signed as a free agent just a couple of weeks ago
45:03he's actually with anthony richardson at florida for three years a 15-yard game
45:09wow you see cross almost making the tackle but uh right was not going to let an arm tackle bring him
45:15down and boy he hit that physical hard both sides of the football we're seeing some
