00:00Remember to kick off your mornings with News 5's Good Morning Cleveland.
00:03Tiffany Tarpley, Mike Brookbank, meteorologist Trent McGill have more of everything you need.
00:08More local news, consumer news, traffic, and Power of 5 weather, so you are all set for the day ahead.
00:15Joshua Cardi, 45-yard field goal, has gotten the Rams.
00:20Back within six as Shador Sanders about to take the field yet again.
00:25Heard some interesting stuff from Andrew Barry.
00:28He's going to be busy for the next week trying to put the finishing touches on the 20-25 version of the Browns,
00:35who will start this next drive at the 35.
00:39So we haven't seen much from the offense under the leadership this time of Shador Sanders.
00:46That's going to happen.
00:48What do you want to see now?
00:50I'd like to see a long drive with some opportunity for him to show off his stuff, right?
00:54He's done a great job being poised back there, making great decisions on when to stay in the pocket, when to leave in his last start,
01:01but just not a lot of opportunities.
01:03Not great blocking, and then just drives that are stalling because they're not successful in the run game,
01:09so keeping them in long situations, receivers not giving them windows to throw to.
01:13Marshall in the backfield behind Sanders.
01:21He'll get the rock and go nowhere, courtesy of that Rams defense.
01:26By the way, under the tutelage of Chris Shula, grandson of the legendary coach Don Shula,
01:33and a former collegiate teammate is Sean McVay at Miami University.
01:38Cradle of coaches, my man.
01:41Ohio is just unbelievably loaded with great coaches that have littered the college football landscape,
01:47the NFL landscape.
01:49I mean, there's really good football here all the way to high school.
01:52Friday night lights is something I'm very jealous of as a guy who's living in Wisconsin now.
01:58Sanders dumps it down to Marshall for a short game.
02:03We saw Shador a couple of weeks ago in his NFL opener at Carolina.
02:09Actually went against the first-string defense his first couple of drives.
02:13Really lit it up after that.
02:15Poised.
02:16Ball placement was really, for the most part, outstanding.
02:19And let's remember, he is an uber-accurate passer.
02:22Yeah, and we've seen that accuracy today.
02:24Not a lot of places to go with the football.
02:26That last throw probably could have thrown the intermediate route,
02:28would have gained a couple more yards.
02:30But everything has been quick with his decision-making and accurate with the throw.
02:36Rams blitzing.
02:37Sanders has the ball stripped.
02:40Bouncing around.
02:42And the Browns, it appears they fall on it.
02:46It was Muhammad that came in off the edge to jar the ball loose from Sanders.
02:52And it'll be another three and out.
02:56Ivy, the Browns' left tackle there, does not do a great job around the edge.
03:01Shador Sanders, one thing he needs to learn is in those situations, you've got those third and longs.
03:06You're taking a deep drop because you've got routes that are going deep down the field.
03:09You want to be able to step up because those tackles got problems with those speed rushers coming around the edge.
03:14So he hung a little bit deep in the pocket there.
03:17Not saying it still wouldn't have been a sack, but that's something that he's got to learn on those third and long plays
03:22to be able to step up and climb in the pocket.
03:26Helping tackles out.
03:27Dukes loses the ball inside the five-yard line and gets stopped in his tracks.
03:31Another booming punt by Corey Bohorquez, who has averaged more than 50 yards per punt.
03:37We will pause now for a word from Huntington Bank.
03:43You ever feel like your money is just lying around?
03:46Welcome to Huntington, a bank that believes we should all get more from money.
03:50Like a path to turn all those late nights into beach days.
03:54Sunscreen, Noel.
03:56And a nudge when you've got enough for the goat without wiping out the groceries.
04:01And anything to make life easier for all you small business owners.
04:05We see you, Dad.
04:07Banking isn't just checking and saving.
04:10It's about getting more for money.
04:12Huntington Bank.
04:14Browns offense stalled here in the second half.
04:17But another great punt by Corey Bohorquez.
04:21As the Rams starting this next drive inside their own five at about the three-yard line.
04:29Second time for Bohorquez.
04:31Pinning him back with a booming punt inside the five-yard line.
04:35What a weapon this guy is for the Browns.
04:38Yeah, he has been fantastic now in his fourth season here in Cleveland.
04:42He has five punts over 70 yards in the last three seasons.
04:45Nobody else in the league has more than two.
04:47As a former punter myself, I feel like a kindred spirit to my punters, roomed with them in college.
04:56Underappreciated.
04:57You roomed with a punter?
04:58Oh, yeah.
04:59Kenny DeBush.
04:59The great Kenny DeBush the leg, we call him.
05:02Of course, like any good kicker or punter.
05:03This is called Kenny the leg?
05:05Kenny the leg.
05:06Who else was your third roommate?
05:07Jimmy the nose?
05:08Actually, the backup punter, Paul Standry.
05:10So, I really got along very well with the special teams guys.
05:14This is breaking news with Joe Thomas that he roomed with two.
05:18I'm not laughing at the back.
05:19And a snapper.
05:20So, a snapper and two punters?
05:21Yes, that's right.
05:22The good news is we have an entire fourth quarter to break down who else was on your dormitory hallway in Madison.
05:29Bounds up 16-10.
05:33Today's end of the third quarter stats brought to you by Bridgestone.
05:36Bridgestone, the official tire of the Cleveland Browns.
05:39Not much to write home about for the Browns in the third quarter.
05:43Two total yards.
05:45Not running the ball.
05:46Not protecting your quarterback.
05:47And for Shadur Sanders, the guy that a lot of people, most people, are out here to watch here today.
05:53Not really getting an opportunity to show his stuff like he did when he was playing against Carolina a couple weeks ago.
05:59I think the best thing about the third quarter outside of the interview with Andrew Barry was the fact we found out that he roomed with long snappers.
06:08Punters.
06:08Punters.
06:10Yeah, they were the most fun.
06:11There you go.
06:14That's a little false startage.
06:17False start.
06:18Offense.
06:19Number 57.
06:20Half the distance to the goal.
06:23You know, overall, I think it's been an outstanding camp.
06:26You mentioned the physicality.
06:27And that has been an emotional mindset change for this organization.
06:31There was hitting.
06:31There was tackling in camp.
06:34And people said, well, of course there is.
06:35It's football.
06:35But that has not been the Stefanski camp wave for much of the first five years of his tenure.
06:41And you can see the physicality has shown up on game day, I think.
06:44I think so, too.
06:45I think you saw it in those joint practices where the Browns were just out physically.
06:49And the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles, they were imposing their will on them.
06:54And, I mean, it started on both sides of the offensive and the defensive line there in the trenches.
07:00And really just continued all the way through the linebacker core and the safeties.
07:04You've seen some big hits today.
07:05So, what I really like about a training camp or a preseason is those opportunities to get your mind into football speed, right?
07:12Which, not just talking about how fast you need to react and play, but how you need to run through tackles and run through blocks to make that physical portion of the game second nature.
07:22Which, that's something I think you almost have to relearn every time you put the pads back on and start a new season.
07:27Browns force a three and out.
07:30As Wins pass sailed high over the head of Britton Covey.
07:36So, the Browns should get the ball back in decent field position.
07:39And Shador Sanders, I'm sure, chomping at the bit.
07:44As are we to see them get a few opportunities here.
07:47Come on, let's go.
07:48So, it's going to be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out.
07:51I mean, Andrew Barry was as honest as he can be when you're trying to construct a roster in time for Tuesday's cutdown day.
08:00You know, we'll see if there's quarterback movement around the league.
08:04Injuries play a role, and guys get moved as well.
08:08Gage Larvedan from his 35 gets it close to midfield before he gets dropped by the Rams.
08:18So, here comes Shador Sanders.
08:19So, how do you think this whole thing is going to play out in terms of the quarterback situation?
08:27The Browns franchise?
08:28I don't know.
08:29They'll win one before I die.
08:30I know that.
08:32I'm talking about once Joe Flacco starts.
08:34I mean, Jimmy Haslam came out at his preseason press conference and said we have to look at the young guys at some point.
08:42And it's obvious.
08:44So, you know, as players, you really just focus on the here and now.
08:47You know, I have no idea.
08:48There's no guarantees as a player or even a coach about being around next season.
08:52So, you can't worry about that.
08:53But the people upstairs, those are the guys that need to be aware and alert as Shador Sanders does a great job moving in the pocket.
09:01That was something we saw Russell Wilson do a lot when he's getting blindside pressure.
09:05He had that great awareness of where that was to make just a little bit of a jab step, make the first blitzer miss,
09:11and then roll out and give his receivers an opportunity to work on their scramble drill.
09:16Well, you know, Sanders and Gabriel picked a couple of rounds apart,
09:19and it's the first time in the NFL since 2012 where multiple quarterbacks were drafted by the same team in the first five rounds.
09:28Hasn't happened a lot in the common draft era since the late 60s.
09:31RG3 and Kirk Cousins.
09:33And, of course, Kirk Cousins still cashing some checks down there in Atlanta with the Falcons.
09:39This is the backup to Michael Penix.
09:43Sanders being pressured, spins away again, keeping the play alive.
09:48The fans love it, but that's one of those plays where maybe he's got to roll out and throw it away, huh?
09:54Yeah, I think he's getting a little bit too eager there to have an opportunity to throw the ball down the field.
09:59You saw him earlier just hanging a little bit too deep in the pocket, not stepping up.
10:03Here, the same thing, right?
10:04He's got a nice pocket if he just steps up into that,
10:06but trying to escape through the back of the pocket again,
10:09and it only takes a couple times when you do that before the defense realizes,
10:13okay, we can rush the edge of the tackle,
10:16and Shadur is not going to step up because he's not feeling comfortable there,
10:19and then you can actually change how you're rushing
10:22and the X that you're rushing to behind where the quarterback is.
10:25So I'd like to see some improvement in game,
10:27which is something that you have to do as an NFL starter.
10:29You've got to be able to make those corrections quickly on the sideline.
10:32A loss of 24 on the sack, and then Treveon Williams gets a couple of yards back,
10:37and they'll have to punt.
10:40And Sanders, just like himself, playing with a lot of young guys.
10:45A lot of young guys out there, a lot of young offensive linemen in front of them.
10:50Blocking has not been exceptional, but blocking and the drop of the quarterback,
10:55they have to go hand-in-hand.
10:57Like Andrew Berry said, hey, we play with our backs to the ball,
11:01so we're blocking for a spot.
11:02You know, obviously we're not always doing a great job,
11:05and sometimes we get beat just like anybody,
11:07but for the most part, I don't know what he's going to do.
11:10I can do my best based on the reaction of the defender that I'm trying to block,
11:14but having that trust between the offensive line and the quarterback
11:18about where he's going to be and when the ball is going to come out is so crucial.
11:21How about Aiden Huntington, 280-pound defensive lineman,
11:24running down the field to make the tackle on the punt.
11:27Shador, hopefully we'll see you soon.
11:31Browns preseason football on News 5 is presented by the University of Akron,
11:36official university of the Cleveland Browns.
11:40Well, time for you to go to school on the Browns' 20-25 regular season schedule,
11:45which opens up in this very building two weeks from tomorrow
11:49against the Cincinnati Bengals.
11:51Not easy out of the gate because in the first six games,
11:53the Bengals are the only team that did not make the postseason a year ago.
12:00Murderer's row there to start the season.
12:02Includes a game on NFL Network.
12:04Yeah, you notice 9.30 Cleveland time in the morning.
12:07That is over in London.
12:08That's the Minnesota Vikings.
12:09Presley on the end of the round, got a good block, but a nice tackle there.
12:17Christian Holmes, and then here's the second half of the schedule.
12:21You know, the interesting thing is going to be, you know,
12:23Joe Flacco named the opening day starter.
12:25At some point, you do have to evaluate Dylan Gabriel and or Shadur Sanders moving forward.
12:32That was the conversation we were having before.
12:35If you're a player on this roster, you're not worried about next year.
12:38There's no guarantees as players, as coaches, but ownership, people in the front office,
12:42you have to have that long vision as well.
12:44And finding out about your quarterbacks that are on this roster,
12:48specifically your rookies, and deciding what you're going to do with those two first-round picks
12:51is every bit a huge part of the season as it is getting Joe Flacco ready to go and win
12:57and try to win as many games as you can.
12:58Aiden Huntington.
13:00This guy has been fantastic throughout the preseason.
13:04Started today as an extra blocker on offense, and look at the quickness.
13:10Never going to make Aaron Donald comparisons when they're not warranted,
13:14but this guy kind of gives a little whispers of Aaron Donald with his size,
13:18with his quickness, with the effort that he plays with, running down on kickoff.
13:22I think I might be buying young Jackie boy, Jack Thomas, a 66 jersey,
13:27because this guy's just fun to root for.
13:29Watch him right out there again.
13:30Oh, two with the side ball.
13:32The ball is loose, and the Rams recover.
13:34Somebody better check Dresser Wynn, who lost on that play, more than just the football.
13:40Sam Kamara in there.
13:44They're running a little bit of a game here,
13:46and then you're going to see Aiden Huntington coming up,
13:49and underneath, number 92 right there.
13:52He splits the double team and smokes Graham's quarterback there,
13:55putting the face mask right on the football, knocking it loose.
13:59What a big hit.
13:59What a great play there.
14:00Just motor, effort, speed, quickness, everything you want to see from your defensive tackle.
14:06Look at that getting love now on the sideline from his defensive line coach.
14:08He's contributed on offense, special teams, and defense.
14:12That's a coach's dream.
14:14Larvidan lost it in the sun, lets it bounce,
14:16and it takes a Rams bounce all the way inside the five.
14:22All right, Shador Sanders, let's shake it off.
14:24Let's see what you got.
14:26Time running out on the Browns preseason.
14:28They're up six.
14:29Browns preseason football on News 5, brought to you by Toyota.
14:37For all Toyota offers, go to toyota.com.
14:39Toyota, let's go places.
14:41Browns just picked up 15 yards, courtesy of a personal foul on the punt return against the Rams.
14:47In the meantime, let's check in once again with Aditi Kinkabwala.
14:50She's on the sidelines with the Browns' top two picks.
14:53Two rookie superstars, Chris.
14:55Mason, I'll start with this one.
14:57Andrew Barry just said that the two of you are always with each other in the building.
15:00Is that true?
15:03We're neighbors, so it's kind of funny.
15:05So, yeah, we're kind of always together.
15:07Is that accidental that you live by each other?
15:10I moved there first, then he moved after.
15:11Okay, well, Grant Delpit this week said if he were to use two words to describe Mason,
15:18violent and always attacking, that's an extra word, but violent and attacking, is that accurate?
15:24Oh, that's very accurate, yeah.
15:26It makes it very easy to play behind.
15:28Two California boys out in Cleveland, what's been the biggest adjustment so far?
15:34You know, I was playing in the Midwest already, so I feel it's more of an adjustment for him,
15:38but I'm kind of used to it.
15:39You know, it's similar to how Michigan was, but, yeah, just fun playing in here for the first time
15:45and looking forward to more times.
15:47Is Mason giving you any tips on the Midwest?
15:49No, he hasn't really helped me out on how to deal with some of the weather here,
15:53but, you know, it's been great being out here.
15:56Carson, I hate to break it to you.
15:57You haven't experienced any of the weather just yet.
16:00All right, the green job, we talked about it in Carolina.
16:03Now that you've got the three games in, where do you feel you are with it?
16:07I'm very comfortable with it.
16:08Whatever they need me to do, I'm willing to go do, yeah.
16:11Do you feel like he is indeed very comfortable back there?
16:14Yeah, for sure.
16:15He makes all the right calls, you know, tells us what to do, good communicator,
16:18and that's what you need for the linebackers.
16:20All right, most important question.
16:21Which one of the two of you does Jim Schwartz like more?
16:25I don't know.
16:26Probably him, honestly.
16:27Really?
16:28Yeah, I'll go with him.
16:30We're good.
16:30He knows it's him.
16:32See, they're still rookies, Chris, so they're modest.
16:35That's pretty good, Aditi.
16:36Pretty good.
16:37Yeah, I don't think that Jim Schwartz would admit it, but Carson Swessinger,
16:40he is something special right in the middle of that defense.
16:44You heard it from Andrew Barry that it's like adding a five-year vet to the room.
16:48Rams had to re-punt, by the way, so Larvidan gets another crack at it.
16:52Gets ahead past the 35, and now the Browns will start their series
16:57with nine and change to go in the preseason.
17:00It's going to be a lot of fun to see those two guys added to a defense
17:03that's looking for a little retribution.
17:06Yeah, adding some young, hungry players with high motors and high IQs.
17:11They're fun to watch, and, you know, this is going to be a really, really good defense.
17:15This team's going to lean a lot on them for their ability to hopefully make a nice run
17:19through the first part of the season, which is filled with tremendous offenses
17:23and great quarterbacks.
17:24Shador Sanders, two for four so far, hands it off to Marshall,
17:29bullies his way up toward the 40.
17:32Shador has also suffered a couple of sacks this afternoon.
17:40Cutdown day coming your way Tuesday at 4 o'clock Cleveland time.
17:46Hopefully the Browns escape severe injury bug today.
17:51We did see their starting center, Ethan Posick,
17:53leave with a leg injury in the first.
17:57Pierre Strong being evaluated for a concussion.
18:04Second and five.
18:06Marshall gets a first down.
18:12And Rams and Browns going at it face-to-face
18:16with guys trying to make one last impression.
18:19Browns finally get something going on the ground.
18:24That's really going to be a huge help for Shador Sanders when they do drop him back to throw again,
18:28because so far, when Shador Sanders has been in, he just hasn't had good blocking in the pass protection
18:34or in the run game, and it's put him in some difficult situations.
18:37So hopefully they can kind of build on this momentum a little bit, this fiery, this chippiness,
18:41and have a nice long drive or get a really good chance to watch Shador Sanders as he's pointing out the mic right there.
18:47Well, the fans that have stuck around want to see 12 do something special on first and 10.
18:52Pressure.
18:53Sanders retreats.
18:54Now steps up.
18:56He's going to get dropped inside the 40.
18:58Did he lose it?
18:59No whistle.
19:01Now there's a whistle finally, even though Tony Fields, the former Brown, thought he had a...
19:06...contact.
19:08Second down.
19:08Bumble return for a touchdown, but ruled down by contact.
19:12Shador Sanders trying to move in the pocket, creates something, but just nothing there.
19:20Looks like the ball was going to be down as he's being tackled.
19:26That elbow hits the ground before the ball comes out, so he's going to be down right there.
19:30So we've seen Shador pressured an awful lot here in this game.
19:34And he's kind of doing it to himself a little bit here as he's drifting way too much deep in the pocket.
19:39He's got to step up, or they're going to just continue to rush up the field to that spot.
19:44Sorry, go ahead.
19:45Connection with Sal Cannella.
19:46Gets it back to the original line of scrimmage.
19:52All right, second down.
19:5416 here.
19:55Got an opportunity to get...
19:57Sorry, looks like it'll be about third and 10.
20:01So now this is a really tough situation, but hopefully he's made that adjustment in his mind.
20:06He'll be able to step up into the pocket.
20:08And they'll give Shador an opportunity to complete something here.
20:11Even if it's short of the sticks, give your guys a catchable ball.
20:14Try to maybe run and get that first down after you catch it.
20:19Sanders sacked 94 times in two years out of Colorado.
20:25Sanders steps up.
20:28Now he retreats.
20:30Spins around.
20:31Throws.
20:31Keeps the play alive.
20:32It's behind Williams and incomplete.
20:34And he could have gone running for a while.
20:39Heck of a job right there by Sanders.
20:41He's stepping up into the pocket here, even though he's not getting great protection from his left tackle,
20:46who's a little bit soft.
20:47He does decide to step up and gives himself at least an opportunity to break free of those would-be sackers
20:52and finds his receiver, who's running open in the middle, and just a hair behind his receiver.
20:58But still, that's a catchable ball you've got to make if you want to be an NFL receiver.
21:05Frustrating day for Shador Sanders.
21:07Very different than the first time we saw him against the Carolina Panthers.
21:11The Jorkez with a short punt.
21:13Fair catch called for at the 23.
21:18So the Browns trying to hang on here in the preseason finale.
21:24You're looking at today's player of the game.
21:26It's brought to you by Terry Coyne.
21:28Aiden Huntington has done it all.
21:29The undrafted rookie free agent actually started as an extra tight end.
21:34Then he actually played a little defense, knocking ball carriers.
21:37Look at this, covering punts for a 280-pound man and then doing what he does best.
21:42There's a human missile out there.
21:44He's beating blockers at the line of scrimmage.
21:46Here he's running right around the offensive guard with some really nifty hand play
21:50and then running a stunt with another defensive tackle on the inside.
21:53Gets the sack, knocks the ball free.
21:55Just a great job by this young man.
21:57That's our player of the game, brought to you by Terry Coyne.
21:5925 years and $5 billion of commercial real estate expertise.
22:07Browns, of course, made a trade.
22:11Juwan Briggs, who was a seventh-rounder a year ago, shipped to the Jets along with a seventh-rounder
22:16in return for a sixth-rounder.
22:17So does that clear a space for Huntington?
22:20Who knows?
22:21Waters on the carry.
22:24Gains about nine.
22:25And for more on him, Aditi.
22:30Chris, you look at him, and obviously he's one of those athletic tweeners, 6'1", 280.
22:35But Kevin Stefanski said he loves his style and that today was really more about how he can handle
22:40the mental gymnastics of doing offense, of doing defense, of doing special teams.
22:45And I don't know, Joe, it looks like he handled them perfectly fine.
22:49He's looking great out there.
22:50He's fun to watch.
22:52Certainly a guy that is a huge surprise.
22:54Andrew Berry's done a great job finding some of those late-round guys, those undrafted free agents
22:59that can come in and contribute.
23:02Waters, nice game there.
23:04Speaking of undrafted rookie free agents, out of North Carolina State, picks up 18.
23:09And we'll see, Browns fans, want to see that man, Shador Sanders, one more time.
23:17At least before the regular season starts.
23:20These are important evaluation reps.
23:22We really need the defense to step up.
23:23We need Jim Schwartz to call a couple blitzes here, get the ball back.
23:27Turnover, let's go.
23:28Under five to go.
23:30Waters runs over Christopher Edmonds.
23:33Gains six.
23:35Unfortunately, I think the Rams are not worried about seeing Shador Sanders again,
23:39and they're thinking, let's run the ball and get back to the West Coast.
23:43Many of their big names did not even make the trip.
23:45Matthew Stafford, who just started practicing because of a disc issue in his back.
23:49He didn't make the trip.
23:52Neither did his backup.
23:53Jimmy Garoppolo, Devontae Adams, Puka Nakua, their offensive line, their head trainer.
23:59Isn't that accurate?
24:00Yeah, I was down in the training room talking to some of the guys BSing before the game.
24:04And our head trainer, Pat Rock, the great Pat Rock, was like, you know their head trainer
24:08didn't even travel?
24:09Because we were talking about all these Rams players that weren't going to be there today.
24:12And I wonder if Commissioner Goodell is going to have a little conversation with Sean McVay
24:18about, hey, we've got to give a little bit better effort here.
24:21We've got an entertainment event here that people want to come and see.
24:25And we've got to at least put forth a little bit better effort.
24:28Well, Dresser Wynn has done his job here in the second half.
24:31And as the Rams driving for potentially the go-ahead score with under four minutes to go,
24:38third and one, play fake, win, rolling left, throwing, tip, incomplete.
24:47McAllen castles went in and out of his hands as Christopher Edmonds does a nice job.
24:53Good defense by the Browns.
24:54They don't fall for the play-action fake on third and one, you know.
24:58Typically third and one, you're thinking run the ball.
24:59So they stayed home, stayed true to their assignments, and right there to be able to help break that
25:05ball up, which is a tough catch for a guy that's kind of turning around castles there,
25:09trying to make that catch.
25:11But thankfully for the Browns, hopefully they're going to be able to get off the field here on fourth down.
25:15There's whistles and a timeout by Sean McVeigh.
25:22Timeout.
25:24Los Angeles.
25:25This is their second charge timeout of the half.
25:29Certainly.
25:30We'll get a 30-second timeout.
25:32Excited to see Jim Schwartz in that defense hit the field two weeks from tomorrow.
25:36And you know what else is back for season two?
25:39Junior Browns Backers.
25:41It's presented by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's,
25:45and in association with Cardinal Credit Union.
25:48Cleveland Browns official kids club is gearing up for yet another season of fun.
25:52For ages 4 to 12, give your kid a season full of Browns memories with exclusive year,
25:56experiences, events, and plenty of surprises all season long.
26:00All you have to do is visit juniorbrownsbackers.com to join today.
26:04Browns looking for a stop with 3.39 to go here in the preseason.
26:14Somebody's still involved that way, David.
26:17Guy has always got a smile on his face, always bringing joy to his teammates in the locker room
26:21and energy.
26:22You've got to have that spark plug on your team.
26:25Fourth and one.
26:27Win to throw.
26:28Looking right.
26:29Throws to Edwards.
26:30Ball knocked away.
26:32Darius Rush.
26:33Did he catch it?
26:34On the rebound?
26:35No way.
26:36They're saying he did.
26:39And the Rams are going to rush up to the line and try and say, yeah, let's.
26:44I think his butt was out of bounds.
26:46We'll see here, maybe on the replay, but he was right by the white there.
26:49Wow.
26:51Well, Kevin Stefanski, this is not regular season football.
26:54Well, Rams are going to get the playoff, and the catch will count.
26:59We'll give you one more look at this, where if that's the regular season, Kevin Stefanski's definitely checking it out.
27:11But how about True Edwards?
27:15Boy, that was close, right?
27:17At what point does he secure possession of the ball, and at what point does that booty hit the white chalk on the sideline there?
27:23That was bang, bang.
27:24I think if you had a better camera angle there during the regular season, you got a lot more cameras, so you could see right down the sideline to kind of see the timing of that.
27:31Well, it is NFL math where one butt cheek equals two feet.
27:34I have to tell the wife that.
27:38Second and six.
27:39By the way, True Edwards, his pops, Troy, a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
27:46One time his dad.
27:46Full start.
27:48In college.
27:48Offense, number 70.
27:50Five-yard penalty.
27:52Still second down.
27:5321 catches, 405 yards for Louisiana Tech against Nebraska.
27:57Good Lord.
27:58Oh, yeah.
27:58I hope he had an ice tub available after that game.
28:01He just kept running.
28:02Can you imagine?
28:02Yeah.
28:02How many touchdowns?
28:04I'd love to know that.
28:06That one up, too.
28:07You hardly know any stats.
28:09What's wrong with you?
28:10You've changed.
28:11You've lost the sauce.
28:13That's what happens when you get older.
28:14It's done.
28:15Second and 11.
28:17Brown's looking for a stop.
28:21Waters in the backfield.
28:25Brown's blitzing.
28:27Connection.
28:28Covey.
28:29First down inside the five.
28:32Never like to cheer against the Browns, but I was hoping he'd get in there so he gets
28:35Shadour another opportunity.
28:37Browns send a blitz.
28:38They're running a strong cross dog there, trying to get home, but the Rams do a good
28:42job picking it up.
28:43And then that's the problem.
28:44When you do send extra blitzers, there's a lot more holes in your coverage.
28:48Rams are running a quick slant there.
28:49They found the hole in the secondary, able to get the ball out and give themselves an
28:55opportunity here right on the goal line.
28:58Rams have to snap it before the two-minute warning.
29:05Waters trying to bounce outside.
29:07He's going to get into the end zone, and we've got a tie game with 2-0-3 to go.
29:12Christopher Edwards here for the Browns is going to try to seal the edge, but unfortunately
29:23he gets stuck a little bit too far inside.
29:25He's got to keep his outside arm free and leverage to be able to handle that because
29:30the Rams are running that classic duo play where the running back starts downhill, and
29:34then he's got the opportunity to bounce it, and it kind of sucks the defenders in.
29:38But when you're that outside defender, you really cannot let the ball bounce outside
29:42of you.
29:45Cardi to give the Rams their first lead of the day.
29:55And he missed it, but there's a flag on the play.
29:59It looks like maybe the Browns were offsides.
30:03Looks like that may have been Darius Rush off the offense's right.
30:09Just gets a jump a little bit too quickly there.
30:14Sometimes that happens.
30:15Offside defense.
30:17Number 39.
30:18Five-yard penalty.
30:20You called a doctor.
30:22Yep.
30:22So the guy on the edge, they call him sometimes the skinner because he's trying to skin past
30:29that wing player to get his hands in the air and to try to get a block.
30:34But you're reading the ball and the body language of the long snapper, and you're trying to
30:39take any little cues on when you need to go.
30:42And when you go, you go.
30:43Did you learn that from rooming with those guys?
30:45Yeah.
30:45All my roommates were the special teams guys.
30:47Steve Johnson, long snapper.
30:48You know, I got to watch him do a lot of great work at Wisconsin throughout the years.
30:52They're also the guys that have the most time on their hands, so they're the most fun.
30:55They're the guys that you want to be roommates with.
30:57All right, so the bad news is, is that the Browns have relinquished the lead for the first
31:03time today.
31:05It's, I wonder if it's possible if Snoop Huntley is going to.
31:08No, please no.
31:11It is possible, but we don't want that.
31:13And he's throwing the helmet on.
31:16Shadour does not have the helmet on.
31:18Walking towards the locker room.
31:19Wonder if the ribs, if the oblique is bothering him a little bit.
31:23That was what he heard the week of Philadelphia, did not allow him to take any team reps.
31:28And then he was not able to play in the game.
31:30We had Andrew Barry here in the third quarter telling us about his toughness and being able
31:34to come back so quickly from that injury.
31:37Not exactly clear if Shadour is just feeling frustrated.
31:40That's why he went for the walk.
31:41Or if he was maybe looking to go to the locker room to get those ribs checked out or the oblique
31:47checked out.
31:47Well, this has been a lot for him for several months.
31:51We get it that he is a star and has been for quite some time as that ball is going to
31:56go out of the end zone.
31:57Browns will start at the 35.
31:59But all eyes have been focused on him ever since the draft process.
32:03And then we don't have to harp on it again, but it ends up being picked 144 in the fifth
32:07round.
32:08And then here.
32:09And where are you on the depth chart?
32:10And they've got a rookie that they drafted ahead of you.
32:13So maybe they don't like you as much.
32:15So there's been a lot, and as I mentioned, you know, every press conference he has had,
32:19he has stood there and handled things beautifully.
32:22Yeah, the game did not go the way any of us had hoped today.
32:25Protection was not there.
32:27Shadour Sanders not feeling comfortable with movement in the pocket.
32:31Receivers not getting open.
32:32Just not what you'd hoped, the opportunity for him to show off his stuff and get that
32:36true first opportunity to evaluate those two rookie quarterbacks on the same field against
32:41the same defense.
32:43Well, Huntley has that one picked off.
32:47But there is a flag.
32:50So we'll see if that is a keeper or not for Cam Lampkin.
32:59Holding.
33:01Defense number 33.
33:03Now down penalty.
33:05Automatic first down.
33:06You see right here, a little bit of a hole there by the defender, Lampkin, allowing himself
33:14to kind of slingshot underneath the receiver and make the play.
33:18All right, so the Browns still have the ball.
33:20Down one with under two to go.
33:21All right, I'm in the studio with you for this game break.
33:27It's brought to you by Best Buy.
33:29Tyler's duck in a competition with Spencer Rattler.
33:32Trying to cement himself as the team's starting quarterback.
33:34The rushing touchdown is also 12 with a 20 passing for a buck and two yards.
33:40Coming up in just a couple minutes here.
33:42Get to see the rookie.
33:43Killing Millro at Alabama.
33:45Get the start for Seattle as they get to the Packers.
33:47Keep in mind, you're not going to miss kickoff of this game.
33:50So as soon as we get there, we will show it to you as part of a triple hitter that we
33:55have on NFL that we're going to do.
33:57The race, the interception.
33:59Brown's back at work.
34:00That's Chad Kota, and he gets out of bounds after a six-yard game.
34:04I want to thank our outstanding production crew who've been with us throughout the three
34:09preseason games.
34:10Our producer, Jonathan Siegel.
34:12Our director, Chris Fenson.
34:13Coordinating producer, Joel Cate.
34:15Today, Tech Manager, Brian Arizeri.
34:17Our AD, Dan Larson.
34:21Plags.
34:22Movement on the offense.
34:23We'll move it five yards back.
34:27False start.
34:28Offense, number 54.
34:31Five-yard penalty.
34:33Also, our great technicians.
34:36Bob Yotes, Gene Winters, Julie Arnold, Pat Farrow, Chris Delcombe, and our gang in the
34:42booth, Mike Bixenstein.
34:45Mike Falkenstein.
34:47Jeff Dalpas.
34:49Kerry Kimms.
34:51Dave Sheets.
34:51Thank you so much for all the hard work you've put in.
34:55And our friends here at News 5.
34:59Second and eight.
35:00And we'll bring it back as Mohamed jumps.
35:09Mutual zone infraction.
35:11Number 45 of the defense.
35:14Five-yard penalty.
35:16It's still a second down.
35:17All right, so the Browns with 151 as Snoop Huntley has entered the game.
35:28Browns may be setting up a potential game-winning field goal.
35:31We've seen those attempts before in the preseason.
35:36Dustin Hopkins struggled a little bit here in preseason.
35:40So maybe give him one more opportunity to build confidence going into that Bengals game
35:45with one more chance for a long field goal.
35:47Huntley with flags down, rolling right, throws, and incomplete.
35:54He was looking for Coda.
35:55All of a sudden, it's a flag fest out here with these yellow hankies all over the place.
36:04Offside defense, number one.
36:07Five-yard penalty.
36:09Results in the first down.
36:10Darion Kendrick.
36:12One of the corners.
36:13Not often you see the cornerback lining up offsides.
36:16And so now the ball on the Rams' side of the field.
36:32I think we'd all like to see Dustin Hopkins get another crack from 50-plus,
36:36but that's what it comes down to.
36:38Still a buck 45 and three timeouts.
36:41So Huntley throws the slant.
36:43Cade McDonald gets lit up and loses the ball.
36:46Here comes the flag, and unfortunately, McDonald is down.
36:51And quickly, the medical staff coming to his aid.
36:57Yeah, I think that was shoulder to helmet or helmet to helmet there on Cade McDonald.
37:03And right at the hit, you knew he was in trouble.
37:05Personal foul.
37:06Unnecessary roughness.
37:12Number 40 of the defense.
37:1315-yard penalty.
37:16Automatic.
37:17First down.
37:19Well, that's on Tony Fields, the former Cleveland Brown.
37:25And McDonald being attended to right now.
37:28The undrafted rookie free agent out of Miami University.
37:31Started his collegiate career at Michigan State.
37:41He is being helped to his feet now.
37:44Actually just sitting up.
37:48We're not going to show you the replay.
37:49He took a shot to his head and it just wasn't pretty.
37:53And so now he's being assisted.
37:54One of the hits the NFL has worked hard to try to get out of the game by removing...
38:00Mike, I'm inside our studio's positive sign here to see McDonald up on his feet after taking that big-time hit.
38:07Keep in mind, starting in just a few moments is Seahawks and Packers.
38:10You're not going to be able to...
38:12You won't miss the start of that game.
38:13We will show you both of these games, the conclusion of Rams and Browns.
38:17As soon as that goes final, we'll take you to Green Bay for Seahawks and Packers here on NFL Network.
38:23That's breaking on the football.
38:25Ball comes in a little bit low.
38:26Receiver comes down.
38:27Maybe Ducks has had a little bit.
38:28Green Bay Packers, the official, had the wrong team receiving.
38:32It just switched it up.
38:33So Green Bay will get the opening kickoff.
38:36And away it goes out of the end zone.
38:38It'll be a touchback.
38:39In those split-second moments as a defensive player,
38:42there can be some really serious collisions there in the secondary.
38:47Several members of the Browns' training staff walking McDonald down the tunnel into the locker room.
38:53We're back.
38:55Huntley's going to hang on to it.
38:56He's got space.
38:58He gets close to another first down before running out of bounds.
39:04Just about a yard shy of the first down.
39:09Nice block there by Mitch Van Voren.
39:13The Browns are running a zone read here.
39:15Tyler Huntley decides to pull the ball.
39:17And they actually have a lead blocker for him,
39:19which is kind of the next evolution of that zone read,
39:22where you're sending a blocker out there to give that quarterback somebody to lead him down the field.
39:27And Andre Schmidt is actually the one that's warming up for a potential game-winning kick.
39:33Marshall moves the chains inside the 25, down to about the 22-and-a-half.
39:44Clock is running.
39:45Rams do have one timeout.
39:47So now the Browns just playing the position game.
39:53Hey, kid, where do you like the ball?
39:54Maybe in the middle?
39:55Yep.
39:56Clearly within easy field goal range for an NFL kicker.
40:00Playing to win the game, trying to get out of here without any injuries.
40:03Because being mindful, it still is preseason.
40:06But trying to play this somewhat game-like, a regular season game,
40:11where you feel pretty good about being in that position.
40:13And then you talk to your kicker and say,
40:14Hey, buddy, which hash would you like it on?
40:16Marshall moves the pile forward inside the 20.
40:21And the Browns are officially in the red zone, which is presented to you by Milk Bone.
40:26Milk Bone bringing more dog food to the dog pound.
40:29So three trips, three scores, and a fourth would give the Browns a perfect preseason.
40:37Nervous?
40:38More than I would expect, Chris.
40:40All of a sudden you said it, and I felt my heart rate go up a little bit.
40:43I am a little bit nervous.
40:44You know, we were hoping to see maybe Dustin Hopkins get one more opportunity.
40:48But the guy with the last name that I'm not exactly sure how to pronounce.
40:51Schmidt.
40:53Very Polish, maybe?
40:55I don't know, somewhere in that Eastern block.
40:59Browns are going to set it up right in the middle
41:01and take the clock all the way down to one more snap.
41:08So what do you think?
41:09Last week we saw Nick Sirianni call a timeout.
41:14Icing kickers in the preseason.
41:16Does Sean McVay do the same to Kevin Stefanski yet again?
41:20Is Sean McVay still at the game,
41:22or did he already load up in the plane?
41:24What do you think?
41:26I don't think he ices him, and I think we nailed this right down the middle with Schmidt.
41:32The guy that was an All-American and a Rosa Award winner as a freshman at Syracuse.
41:39And now looking to win it for the Browns from 37 yards out.
41:47A perfect preseason on the line.
41:51The snap, the hold, the kick.
41:57There you go, Browns fans.
42:00Your perfect preseason is here.
42:02You don't make any friends?
42:08You know, your best friend of all to yourself
42:13If you are around for one last week we can try to take the follow-up to Daniel here.
42:17You're a perfect preseason.
42:18You don't give you some clarity.
42:19This one, even if we're doing something in between 40mm,
42:21You're hole-rows, no gaffer.
42:23You're a perfect preseason.
42:24Allen said that there's an all- абсолют어주 victim.
42:27It's been a nice cake and cake.
42:28There you go, Browns fans.
