00:00I'm doing my part, making sure everybody's on the right page every single play, so the guys have done a great job with it.
00:06You know, you can tell they've been studying. They're seeing stuff fast, so it's been good. So it's been good so far.
00:11You've been noted as one of the most technically sound centers in the game. Year five for you. What's your emphasis on what you want to work on?
00:18Yeah, just making sure I'm coming in every day ready to work, you know.
00:23You can always get better. You can always find things to work on, and I got a lot of stuff to work on, so it's been good.
00:29And it's been a good camp. I feel like, you know, everybody around here is improving, so it's been good.
00:34I asked Patrick earlier in the preseason, you know, any fun camp stories, any favorite memories?
00:39He was very secretive in naming the place, but he did say the offense goes to a pizza spot, and you guys have fun, and you guys, you know, order pizzas.
00:48But he noted and kind of threw some shade to the O-line. He said you have to be careful where you sit,
00:53because if the pizza gets down to the guys on the O-line, they may not share it with the skills player.
00:57The world wants to know, did you guys end up sharing said pizza during training camp?
01:02No. O-line never shared. No, yeah, we ate all of it.
01:07Now, Creed, this is the very first opportunity for you guys to come back home to Arrowhead.
01:11Of course, it's a preseason game, but seeing the fans, 50,000-plus strong,
01:14what did it mean to you guys to come out here at home and solidify that you have one of the best fan bases in the league?
01:19Yeah, it feels awesome. Any chance you get to play in front of Chiefs Kingdom, it's a great time.
01:23So, you know, they brought a lot of energy tonight, and it's been good.
01:26I feel like the team's fed off really well, too.
01:28So it's always fun getting to play on Arrowhead and getting to play in front of these fans.
01:31They're the best in the business.
01:33Always fun chatting with you. Thank you so much, Creed.
01:35That guy has been some kind of an anchor. 68 straight starts to start his career.
01:40Last year, first team All-Pro.
01:43Well, he deserves it, too.
01:44The work that he's put in, he's a technician.
01:49Bajan connects with Alexander.
01:51He's great in the run game, great in pass protection.
01:55Like you said, the communication, obviously having Tooney on one side and Trey Smith on the other.
02:00That interior was really the solid part of that offensive line and why this team, you know, has had so much success.
02:06We've documented the rotation at tackles that have gone on.
02:09Yeah.
02:09And, you know, the fact that Creed is signed and the fact that Trey is signed, you know, that's good.
02:17And we just saw Simmons there, who they just drafted.
02:19So those pieces all coming together.
02:23First and ten for the Bears.
02:25Royce Freeman.
02:27And Freeman inside the 15.
02:29And the Bears pushing that pile to be brought down at the 13-yard line.
02:34And the final seconds here of the third quarter.
02:39Two weeks from tonight, the regular season will begin for the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, taking on the Chargers.
02:48This team will look different than it does tonight.
02:50There'll be less guys.
02:51Cuts will be made.
02:52Figuring out who will make the 53, who will be on the practice squad.
02:57And then, of course, they'll be looking at guys who get waved from other teams.
03:00So you never know who's going to end up on that roster.
03:02It's going to be a busy few days for all the decision makers.
03:05And we'll talk about that and more.
03:07Three quarters complete here at GEHA Field at Arrowhead.
03:12And it has been a great night for the Chiefs.
03:14They will take a 27-10 lead into the fourth quarter in the preseason finale.
03:19Keep it right here.
03:22Set for the start of the fourth quarter.
03:24It's been a terrific night for the Chiefs.
03:25They lead 27-10.
03:27Let's take a look at our game summary presented by the University of Kansas Health System.
03:31Patrick Mahomes looked great.
03:328 of 13, 143 yards.
03:35Taequann Thornton had a good night.
03:37He's Trent.
03:38I'm Ari and Trent.
03:39This is kind of what all Chiefs Kingdom was hoping for, a return to greatness.
03:43And they've delivered in every phase tonight.
03:45Yeah, that's the thing that they wanted.
03:46They wanted to play better on defense, which we saw early on.
03:50With that first unit that was in there, Patrick Mahomes wanted to get some reps.
03:54Number one, wanted to stay healthy, which is what happened.
03:56Had some success in the passing game is get a scramble there for a setup, a first and goal for the Bears.
04:02But really, when you talk about what the ones did and trying to build some momentum, that's exactly what Andy Reid wanted.
04:09Yep.
04:09When you have, you know, a third preseason game and after two long road trips, getting that production because two weeks from tonight, two weeks from tonight down in Brazil, it's on.
04:24It's on.
04:2420-25 regular season, can't come quick enough, but still some important plays out here for guys looking to make this team or perhaps another NFL team.
04:35There's all 31 teams to be looking at the tape of every game, every player.
04:41Let's take a look at the schedule, and it's a beast out of the gate.
04:45You've got to go to Brazil, then a Super Bowl rematch, then you're at New York, and then you've got the Ravens at home.
04:50Yeah, and at Jacksonville, they're an improved team, and then all of a sudden Detroit, who was the one seed in the NFC a year ago in the division game in Las Vegas, Washington.
05:03At Buffalo.
05:04Washington made the NFC championship game a year ago.
05:07I mean, yeah, it's a tough schedule.
05:10Freeman with it, and he'll be put to the ground at the two-yard line.
05:14And here's the thing, Ari, you're getting everybody's best effort because all they've heard over the last five, seven, nine years is about what Kansas City's doing.
05:28So you take a look at, you know, the bye week happens, and then not that it's not like it gets any easier than what the first half was because you've still got all your division opponents.
05:38Big game at Dallas on Thanksgiving.
05:44Big game at Dallas on Thanksgiving.
05:48Bay-Jet, looking, looking, now he'll move to his left and throw, caught, touchdown Bears.
05:54Royce Freeman just signed this week.
05:57He's not even on the flip card, and he gets a touchdown.
06:01That's pretty cool for Royce Freeman.
06:04Well, and that's how you make an impact, right?
06:05You just mentioned the fact that if it doesn't work out in Chicago, now all of a sudden you're on tape making things happen late in the preseason game.
06:12And Brett Beats talked to us about this in the second quarter when he was up here.
06:18He said, we've got to evaluate our guys.
06:20We've got to figure out which guys we're going to make on our roster, on our 53, which guys we're going to try and get on our practice squad.
06:26But we're also evaluating and grading everyone else across the league as you get a block right there.
06:33A block on the extra point.
06:37I think it's Kevin Knowles, the rookie out of Florida State.
06:40You talking about make a play?
06:42There you go.
06:42Can't notice.
06:43Make an impact.
06:43Come off the edge.
06:44There you go.
06:45Toad loves that.
06:47All right.
06:48Let's see here.
06:50Oh, yeah.
06:51With the right hand extended.
06:53Kevin Knowles gets a blocked extra point.
06:57Well done.
06:57Crown Royal, the official whiskey of the Kansas City Chiefs, is bringing back the Royal Rig for Season 2.
07:06See it in action at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on September 28th and around Kansas City on September 26th and 27th.
07:15Visit crownroyal.com to see where else the Royal Rig is stopping this NFL season.
07:19Please drink responsibly.
07:22Keyshawn Smith on the return.
07:24He joined the team in the midst of training camps.
07:27He gets a look.
07:29Bailey Zappi is in at quarterback.
07:31Played his college ball at Western Kentucky.
07:34Fourth round pick of New England back in 2022.
07:37He's got experience in this league.
07:40He's got a tough battle, though, to try to make this team.
07:44Defensive time with the Chiefs on the practice squad, but then got signed to the active roster of the Browns.
07:50It wasn't here that long.
07:52But then has been with the Chiefs this offseason.
07:54There it is.
08:05McDelaina, the rookie out of Fresno State, makes the catch.
08:08And let's go to Kimmy.
08:12Hey, guys.
08:13When you are two peas in a pod, that just means you have to do an interview at once.
08:17Here with our defensive leaders, we've got Chris Jones and George Parloftis.
08:21George, you're fresh off of a four-year extension.
08:23The pressing news.
08:25The pressing questions.
08:25Have you treated your best friend, Chris Jones, to a nice, healthy meal?
08:29Don't you ever say that the dinner you treated us to is worth it.
08:32No.
08:33To a couple.
08:34To a couple.
08:35I'll just say Joe's, a couple spots, and then on the off day we did, you know, so a little bit.
08:40But they didn't count it for some reason.
08:43Chris, you seem to disagree.
08:45Yeah, we don't count, like, El Magui as a D-line dinner.
08:51You know what I mean?
08:51You got to take us to a nice steakhouse, treat us.
08:54You got $25 million a year, bro.
08:57Take us out.
08:58Treat us nice.
08:59You know what I mean?
09:01On a football note, back-to-back top defensive seasons for the Chiefs these past two years,
09:06that's the very first time that's happened in almost a decade.
09:09What do you credit that to?
09:10You got to credit the coaches for getting us prepared, bringing in guys.
09:14They love football.
09:15The organization, you know, we do a really, really good job at drafting guys.
09:19Like George, four years in, you get paid on his third year.
09:22It took me forever to get paid.
09:24A little jealous, but I'm not, you know, no pun intended.
09:27But we have a lot of great guys that love football, love to get better, and love to compete.
09:32So when you have a lot of guys that love that and focus on one goal,
09:36then your team ends to be successful.
09:39He couldn't have said it better.
09:40I mean, it starts with spags, and then goes down to the position coaches,
09:45and it's really, we got great leaders.
09:47We have a group that's been together for quite some time of guys that just love playing ball,
09:51and that's really what it's about.
09:53I think we got a hungry group, and, you know,
09:55we're hoping this is one of the best defenses we've had.
09:57Chris, at this stage of your career, what is more satisfying to you?
10:01Getting a nice sack on third down,
10:03or seeing these younger guys have their moment to shine,
10:05their contract extensions, and especially some of these fringe players
10:08going out there and getting some sacks here in preseason?
10:10I think it's both.
10:11You know, I would love to get a sack, but I also love to see these guys shine.
10:15They put a lot of hard work in this offseason,
10:17especially in training camp, which we have the hardest.
10:19So to see them go out there and be successful and to show that crowd,
10:23I get excited about it.
10:25Now, George, Chris says that his kind of motto when he's playing football
10:29is to break a man's will.
10:31Do you have something equally as intense as that?
10:34I'm putting you on the spot here.
10:36Off the top of my head, no, I don't.
10:39That's like, that's intense, dog.
10:41That's pretty intense.
10:43When I was at Purdue, we had one rule.
10:45It's do what you're supposed to do when you're supposed to do it,
10:48the way it's supposed to be done,
10:49and do it that way every time.
10:50And that's what I try to do.
10:52A little bit longer than breaking a man's will,
10:54but maybe we can think on it.
10:55Yeah, I'll work on the mindset because that caught me way off guard just now.
11:00It doesn't work like that.
11:01Sometimes you've got to do what's best for you.
11:03You know the team, but also, like the coaches run a blitz, right?
11:08It's a calculated play because what do you see on film, right?
11:11Like when you think about fans running a blitz,
11:13he just seen something on the field that make him think, like,
11:15this play is coming.
11:16So, as a player, you also watch film, right?
11:19So, sometimes you've got to avoid the defense
11:21because you don't watch film and see what's coming.
11:24Clearly, clearly these two guys could talk football all day long.
11:28We're going to take you guys to a break.
11:29I'm going to keep chopping it off with him.
11:31We'll be back after this, guys.
11:3327-16, Chiefs in front.
11:48Tyson Fajic still in at quarterback.
11:52And he's going play action, gets it out in the flat.
11:57Steven Carlson, and Carlson still running up the sideline.
12:00A huge play for the Bears.
12:05Carlson, fourth-year player out of Princeton.
12:12I know this is a big play for the Bears,
12:14but I can't go on until we talk more about Chris Jones and George Karloftis.
12:19You can't just, you can't just, like, go right over the top.
12:21We've got to talk about it.
12:23That interview, that interview just tells you the relationship that that defensive unit has,
12:27how much they care for each other, the fun that they like to have.
12:31Obviously, Chris being the leader of that in his 10th year,
12:34the type of player he is, six-time Pro Bowl, six-time All-Pro.
12:38I thought it was funny that he brought up George's contract.
12:43I did, and then he began to wait.
12:45Considering what his contract is.
12:49Steve Spagnuolo is one of a kind.
12:51His players absolutely just adore him and love playing for him.
12:56Both him and Andy Reid have that parent-like feel,
12:59that parent that you really want their approval,
13:01because they just demand so much respect and accountability.
13:05But look at that guy.
13:06He's got four Super Bowls.
13:10Yeah, we saw it on that last graphic.
13:11Only coordinator to win four Super Bowls.
13:17He also is the only coordinator to win Super Bowls on two different teams.
13:22Well, that Giants team that beat the undefeated Patriots,
13:25that was one of the great defensive efforts in Super Bowl history.
13:28Well, and it's the adjustments.
13:29Remember, they played at the end of the season.
13:32It didn't go well for them.
13:33No.
13:34And the adjustments they made going into that game and then the execution,
13:38obviously there were some phenomenal plays that happened for the Giants
13:43to be able to even make that happen.
13:45But that defense, what they were able to do to shut down Tom Brady and Randy Moss,
13:52and, you know, those guys were setting records left and right with their offensive numbers.
13:59Yeah, for all the success Randy Moss had with the Patriots,
14:03he did not get himself a ring while he was there.
14:05That one year, that was the year that got away from him.
14:08Tom still won six up there, so I don't think we have any pity for the Patriots.
14:12But that's just, you know, that's what I try and explain to Chiefs fans, though,
14:19when I'm walking around town when I see you.
14:20It's just like there's so many things.
14:24Like, as good as that team was, it's so hard to win.
14:28And to do nine consecutive division titles, seven consecutive championship appearances,
14:36five Super Bowls in the last six years, winning three.
14:38I mean, Bears pick up the first down on fourth and one.
14:43You've got to have the talent.
14:44You've got to have the talent.
14:44You've got to have the coaches.
14:45You've got to have, I mean, all of that.
14:47But you've got to have a lot of things go your way as well.
14:49And Andy Reid wins.
14:53He certainly does.
14:54There is a look at most consecutive division titles,
14:56and they are in hot pursuit of the Patriots.
14:59And the Chiefs favor to win the division this year.
15:02It's hard to consider a situation where they wouldn't be favored to win it again next year.
15:06And the whole division's gotten better, though.
15:08We already talked about what's going on with the Chargers.
15:10Previously, we talked about what happened in Denver and Las Vegas.
15:14And, yeah, I mean, they've been chasing,
15:17and they're going to do everything they can to knock them out of that spot.
15:22Page it, and we'll throw it away.
15:23Well, every year I feel like we give credit to those other three teams
15:26and talk about what improvements they've made.
15:27But at the end of the season, it's still the Chiefs on top.
15:31Well, and even last year, it wasn't even – it really wasn't even close.
15:35It was two or three games.
15:36I mean, it was how they just keep finding ways to win.
15:40And they're winning in different ways.
15:42We've talked the last two years has been a very defensive-dominated team, top ten defense.
15:48Right there, you see it.
15:49It was a four-game difference.
15:50I said three.
15:51So, four-game difference over the Chargers.
15:54And remember, they didn't play the starters in the last year.
15:57And essentially, when everybody played, they only lost one game at Buffalo.
16:02Flags on the play here.
16:04A little more than eight minutes to go in this one.
16:07Ball start.
16:08Offense number 78.
16:10Five-yard penalty.
16:11It's second down.
16:12Joshua Miles guilty there.
16:22Chris Jones holding court over there.
16:25That's not shocking at all.
16:26Not at all.
16:27He's got offensive guys.
16:31He's got defensive guys.
16:32He's got a receiver, a tight end.
16:34And he commands attention.
16:36Yes.
16:38And his size gets everyone's attention as well.
16:426'6", 310 pounds.
16:44It's Freeman.
16:47And then Freeman gets it inside the 15- to the 13-yard line.
16:52Now, less than eight minutes to go in the preseason finale.
16:56Chiefs leading by 11 points.
16:58I know we've mentioned it throughout the preseason and even tonight, but this is incredible.
17:09This is so valuable for these guys on the field to get more tape, right, to get out there.
17:15The evaluators, Brett Feach and his staff, but every other team.
17:20Ryan Poles, the GM for the Bears and his staff.
17:22You know, all the teams are checking out all this stuff and trying to piece together what their roster is going to be.
17:30But more importantly, for a lot of these guys, piece together their 16-man practice squads.
17:35And if an injury happens, who you're bringing in to fill in.
17:41Yeah.
17:42Any rep is a good rep at this point in time.
17:44Not a lot of fond memories of COVID, but if you're an NFL player who can't make a roster,
17:49the 16-man practice club was created during COVID, and that has been a real positive for players
17:54to have the opportunity to stick around an organization and develop.
17:58Well, it has been.
17:59And I think the next thing that the players would like to get done is the 53-man rosters.
18:04Instead of having 47 dress, 48 with your emergency quarterback is have all 53 dress.
18:10Yeah.
18:10If they're healthy, you know, let them dress and make that happen.
18:15Whether or not that happens, you know, there's going to be a lot of give and take.
18:17The NFL has talked pretty extensively about wanting to get that 18th game.
18:22Yes.
18:22I think that will happen in the next couple years or the next five years, something like
18:27that.
18:27Whenever that collective bargaining agreement needs to be adjusted, that'll be a huge part
18:33of it is bringing in that 18th game.
18:35Makes sense.
18:36The demand for the game is unprecedented in sports in America.
18:39People can't get enough of it.
18:41It's Brown, the ball carrier, and he will be stopped at about the four-yard line.
18:46But Cooper McDonald made a big play a moment ago.
18:49And for more on that, let's go to Kimmy.
18:51Yeah, guys.
18:51Number 59, the linebacker Cooper McDonald.
18:54He was one of those guys that actually was undrafted.
18:57He came into rookie minicamp.
18:58He's one of the over 50 tryout players alone.
19:01He caught the eyes of the coach.
19:02He was signed to the 50-man offseason roster.
19:04This is a name to pay attention to ahead of the 53-man roster cut down on Tuesday.
19:11General Manager Brett Veach said he's made incredible plays.
19:14We saw some of these stops and sacks in this preseason game.
19:17A name that Chiefs Kingdom should get very familiar with.
19:22Brown carries the football and just gets back to the line of scrimmage.
19:27It's been a time-consuming drive for the Bears.
19:31Fourth down coming up, fourth and goal.
19:34McDonald, see the college career, three different schools, Washington, San Diego State, and TCU.
19:40And when I got out to training camp, they were talking about how him and Brandon George
19:43were doing extra work before and after practice every day.
19:47I mean, he's had an impact all preseason.
19:49You know, every preseason game we've seen, and when we're up at camp, at practices, he's always showing up.
19:58Bajit to a wide-open Joel Wilson touchdown.
20:02Bears, three-yard touchdown pass.
20:06Tyson Bajit continues what's been a successful night for him, the number two quarterback for the Bears.
20:12Bears, Bears, Bears.
20:1927-22 at the moment.
20:24125 yards throwing the football tonight for Bajit.
20:30They're going to go for two to try to make it a three-point game.
20:41Brown to the left of the quarterback.
20:46Bajit throws it out, and it's incomplete.
20:49He went right back to Joel Wilson.
20:52Can't make the catch.
20:53A little less than five minutes to go in this one, and the Chiefs lead 27-22.
21:04Chiefs currently lead the Bears 27-22.
21:07Now, for 35 years, Dan Mears was the man behind Casey Wolfe, the best mascot in the NFL.
21:14Dan retired this summer with much fanfare, but, of course, now he's back at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
21:20We have the new Wolfe down here as well, but, Dan, why'd you come back here tonight?
21:24You're retired.
21:24Hey, you know what?
21:25I figured I'd get to watch a Chiefs game without fur over my face, and it's been a lot of fun tonight.
21:31So, obviously, a big torch to pass here.
21:34What was the process like finding the new Wolfe, and why do you love this guy so much?
21:37We won't say his name, but why do you love him so much?
21:39This guy has got a lot of energy.
21:41I like mascots with a lot of energy.
21:43We did a big search looking for him, and, hey, here he is.
21:47Any pressure with the original Wolfe here tonight?
21:52So, Dan, you had a big retirement party just yesterday, I believe.
21:57Mascots from all over the country came in.
21:58What did that mean to you?
21:59It was fantastic.
22:01Some of my best buddies were in the room with me.
22:04NHL, professional baseball, NFL guys.
22:08And after the party, they all came to my house, and we spent a little more time together.
22:13Well, Dan, we appreciate you.
22:14You're a legend in Chiefs Kingdom.
22:15Thank you for everything you did for Chiefs Kingdom, and let's keep this guy out of trouble, okay?
22:19Tell you what, I'll do my best, so thank you.
22:22Back to you guys.
22:23That's great stuff right there, and what a career.
22:27Terrific job, Matt McMullen.
22:28Appreciate that.
22:29We're looking forward to that.
22:30Well, I've known Dan a long time, obviously, playing here, you know, for six seasons, and maybe he's the best.
22:37I mean, not only, like, the game day stuff that he's doing, but all the charity work,
22:43all the appearances that he's making around town was just phenomenal, and just an incredible person.
22:50And not only has a mascot, but just, yeah, phenomenal.
22:55Congrats.
22:55Congrats, Dan.
22:56On a great career.
22:58Carson Steele getting to carry.
23:01He was the darling of the preseason a year ago.
23:03Hasn't had as many moments to flash.
23:05It's a deep and talented running back room, but he's got good versatility, can do a lot of different things.
23:12Yeah, special teams were a big part of it a year ago.
23:15Short yardage running.
23:18Numerous times on third down, they utilized him.
23:20He can line up as a tight end in, like, a wing formation or a trips formation.
23:25They used him a lot of different ways a year ago.
23:27Zappi able to complete it, and that'll bring up a first down.
23:35Elijah Badger makes to catch the rookie out of Florida.
23:48Yeah, we're looking at Smith potentially to go deep.
23:50He is a deep threat, Keyshawn Smith.
23:57First and ten for the Chiefs.
24:03See the first downs, 22 apiece.
24:07Chiefs dominated the first half.
24:08The score indicates it's been a close game, but the Chiefs got out in front.
24:13They led 27-10 at the half.
24:17Kansas City, are you ready for the first ever Battle Sports Kansas City Classic Live at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium?
24:25I think their people are ready.
24:26Join us under the lights on Thursday, August 28th at 8 p.m.
24:30to watch the Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
24:34Mark your calendars and get your tickets today at Ticketmaster.com.
24:37That will be really cool for the fans.
24:40You know Nebraska's fans are going to travel.
24:42Cincinnati's fans all convene here in Kansas City.
24:45Should be a great night.
24:46Well, and as Mark Donovan told us in week one, this is a yearly thing that they want to have happen.
24:51They want to bring in matchups and have this as a yearly game.
24:58Carson Steele, another carry.
25:01And that will bring us to the two-minute warning.
25:04The two minutes left in the preseason.
25:06Chiefs leading by five.
25:08Hopefully they'll close this out successfully when we come back.
25:11Two-minute warning.
25:12Any familiar face to Chiefs' kingdom?
25:14Eric Bien-Ami back here with the Chicago Bears, their running back coach, and a lot of love.
25:19Great to see Eric.
25:20Yeah, it is.
25:21You know, he had a lot of success here in Kansas City both as running back coach
25:24and developing some young, talented running backs and then also as offensive coordinator.
25:32Excellent job.
25:33Went to college for a few years and now back in the NFL.
25:37I'll tell you what.
25:38He's going to coach those guys hard.
25:39They're going to be better players having him as a position coach.
25:42Absolutely.
25:43Great run here with the Chiefs.
25:45Big part of building the foundation of this dynasty.
25:50So two minutes to go in this one.
25:53Chiefs just need a first down here and they'll probably be able to run out the clock.
25:58Zappi in at quarterback.
26:01Zappi looking.
26:02Look, he's got all day to throw.
26:03And now he'll deliver.
26:04And that is caught.
26:05It'll be enough for a first down.
26:07Hal Presley, the rookie out of Baylor, makes the tackle.
26:12And Chicago will use the timeout.
26:13It is our absolute pleasure every preseason to bring the kingdom Chiefs preseason football.
26:22We want to thank everybody in the kingdom that tuned in.
26:24But there's a lot of people in our crew to thank.
26:27Our wonderful crew behind the scenes is led by our producer, Matt Kushner.
26:31Kushner's the man.
26:32Director's Andy Goldberg.
26:33And Matt Plundo, our associate director, Harris.
26:36FIFA Shops.
26:37None of this could happen without the great partnership with the Chiefs organization.
26:40Special thanks to VP of content, Rob Albarino.
26:43That's our guy.
26:43He's our boss.
26:45And his staff, Brad Young, David Kelsey, Lucas Boyd, Connor Peters, Emma Thompson, Thompson,
26:50and Delaney Jones.
26:53Our friends at PMTV, the one and only Rob Schmall, the great Dan Adew, and Steve Kaiser.
26:59Run this first down play.
27:00I get some more people to thank.
27:02Carson Steele gets it to the 43-yard line.
27:06A special shout-out to all of our technicians behind the scenes who deserve all the credit
27:10getting us on the air for the last three weeks.
27:13Technical director, Zach Greenberg.
27:15Audio, Matt Coppedge.
27:17Tom Mangin.
27:19Nolan Woodford.
27:20Andy Woods.
27:21Video, Jamie Moore.
27:23David Amack.
27:24Graphics, Alex Scarfo.
27:26Eric Miller.
27:27Lance Griffith.
27:28Clock and Score, David Wall.
27:30Replay operators, Marion Murray.
27:33Hans Waters.
27:34Leslie Katz.
27:35Sam Abramson.
27:36And Linda Newberg.
27:38Camera operators.
27:40Dean Audruck.
27:41John Pope.
27:42Mike Harvath.
27:43Mike Monaco.
27:45TJ McGinnis.
27:46Morgan Kramer.
27:47Keaton McGuire.
27:48Kelly Myers.
27:49James Moore.
27:50Two stage managers.
27:52Carl V.
27:53Maddalena.
27:54And Kalen Thompson.
27:55And personally for me and Trent.
27:57Lots of love to our spotter.
27:58The one and only Mike Fox.
28:00Better known affectionately to us as Foxy.
28:03That's a long list.
28:04All those people are important.
28:05But let me tell you something, Carter.
28:06You are now completing your 15th season as the Chiefs Analyst on the preseason.
28:12It's been a great relationship for the organization.
28:14Having you with us.
28:16And just appreciate everything you do.
28:17You're a great ambassador for this franchise.
28:1915 years.
28:20I don't know.
28:20How about it?
28:21As the preseason analyst.
28:21It doesn't seem like that long ago.
28:23It's been an honor.
28:26You know, we live here in Kansas City.
28:28We make this our home.
28:29And played for the organization for six years.
28:32And loved every minute of it.
28:34Yeah, so I appreciate you and appreciate this crew.
28:38You just rattled off the whole list of everybody there.
28:41So thank you to the entire crew.
28:44And it's made it a special 15 years.
28:47And let's keep it rolling.
28:48Let's keep it rolling.
28:49As Kimmy told Rob Albarino, until the wheels come off.
28:52Let's keep this thing going.
28:55The third and six.
28:58And look at the completion to drive continues.
29:01Spivey.
29:02One of the tight ends on the roster.
29:03We haven't called his name much this preseason.
29:06But nice that he can make a play late in the game.
29:08He played his college ball at Mississippi State.
29:11Now, a group of people we didn't thank there.
29:15It's the organization itself.
29:16From Brad G.
29:17Who, you know, gives us access.
29:19To Andy Reid.
29:21To the coordinators.
29:22Matt Nagy.
29:23Steve Spagnuolo.
29:24We got a chance to talk with Dave Toad.
29:26The special teams guy.
29:27And then all the players who spent time with us.
29:29It is a collective effort to get these preseason games on.
29:33So, a huge thanks to Brad, his staff, and all the people on the football side for giving
29:37us access and helping us prepare for these games.
29:40You know, having done this for 15 years and the cooperation that we get from the team,
29:45I know that we're the broadcast crew for the Chiefs, right?
29:49But they don't have to give us the access to the players, to the coaches, to the ability
29:56to, you know, to be on the field down in practice.
30:00I mean, they give us a lot of access.
30:02The guys that we interviewed.
30:03I mean, we had Trey, Chris Jones, Karlovdus, Creed.
30:08Think about who we've had.
30:09The one-on-one that I do with Pat every year.
30:11Yeah, it's amazing.
30:12Just, that doesn't happen everywhere.
30:14That doesn't happen with all the organizations and their preseason crew.
30:18So, we are very thankful for the access that we get.
30:22And one production meeting I'll never forget was four first ballot Hall of Famers.
30:27We went Andy Reid.
30:28Yes.
30:29Followed up by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey and then Chris Jones.
30:32And that was in the lead-up to the opener in Arizona.
30:35I mean, that's like a dream come true to be with those kind of guys and talking football.
30:39I don't even think they do that in the regular season.
30:42I mean, I think you've got to space those guys out because it's a long season.
30:46Guys don't want to do the production meetings every week.
30:48Quarterbacks have to do the production meetings every week.
30:51But I'm sure Travis isn't doing it every week and Chris isn't doing it every week.
30:55So, it's like, you know, that was next level.
30:59And we recognized that.
31:01We were like, listen, this was the big deal.
31:04You saw there the Chiefs' three straight Super Bowls.
31:07They'll go for a fourth straight Super Bowl appearance to match the Bills.
31:11There was these Bills, unfortunately, for Bills fans, didn't win any of the four.
31:14Chiefs are hoping to win three of four.
31:18He was out of bounds.
31:19Now he saw one foot in bounds.
31:22Well, both officials are looking at each other and neither.
31:28Yeah.
31:29So, I guess it's incomplete.
31:30That's what they're going with.
31:32We'll see on the replay here.
31:34Got one down.
31:35Oh.
31:39Well, it's under two minutes, so.
31:48All right.
31:50Just from that quick replay, it looked like he got them both down.
31:53But that was, we're pretty far away.
31:59That one's in, and it looks like this other one taps before it hits the white.
32:05Did his elbow hit before the second foot?
32:08I don't know if there's enough to overturn it.
32:10That's the thing.
32:11It's just.
32:11Let's see the elbow and the right foot.
32:14Oh, the right foot gets down right at the same time.
32:16I don't know what the ruling's going to be, but give this guy credit.
32:38It's a heck of a play right here.
32:41John Day Walker, rookie out of Texas A&M.
32:46It looks like he got both feet down.
33:07You can see the Bears right there reacting to it.
33:10Right.
33:11They're all points.
33:11It's the very end of the final preseason game,
33:14and it just shows how much every play matters.
33:17Well, just to pump up my Indiana Hoosiers.
33:20The assistant head coach, wide receiver coach, Antoine Randall-El.
33:24Oh, yeah.
33:24Former Big Ten MVP, went to Indiana.
33:27He was the one running up their points.
33:31At the 28-yard line.
33:32First out.
33:33Good for him.
33:33He deserved that.
33:34A heck of a play by Walker.
33:36There he is.
33:36There he is.
33:39I got to shout out the Hoosiers.
33:41You know, when I get the chance.
33:4225 on the game.
33:441-2-5.
33:46No one can forgive me.
33:47He threw that touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.
33:49Hey, your Hoosiers had a great year last year.
33:51Are they coming back for more?
33:52Are they?
33:52Yes, they are.
33:53And everybody's doubting them again.
33:55You like that, right?
33:56Well, last year, going into the season, and I can understand why,
34:00because it's been a lot of years since there was any kind of success.
34:03Last year, going into the season, most people had them picked 13th in the Big Ten.
34:08And, you know, they ended up doing what they did and making it to the playoffs.
34:16Yeah, so they've kind of reloaded.
34:18They've got a bunch of pieces back.
34:19And I don't think, you know, they're talking Ohio State and Penn State.
34:25And Illinois is getting a lot of attention.
34:28But Indiana is going to be right in the mix again.
34:30Good throw there.
34:32Carlson makes the catch.
34:33Now, check that it was Wilson.
34:35Wilson had a touchdown earlier.
34:40Look at how much Patrick cares.
34:42Late in the game.
34:45Such a dynamic and positive leader for this franchise.
34:53Well, they're in the huddle, but the clock is running.
34:55He wanted the clock running.
34:56No reason to stop the clock.
34:58He's a referee part-time.
35:03They did.
35:08Well, really, with the Bears not having any timeouts left,
35:11they're just trying to get up and be able to have a shot at the end zone.
35:15And they're definitely within range here with 30 seconds left to take a shot at the end zone.
35:21So you might as well, what they're going to try and do is just get as close as possible.
35:27They've got no timeouts, but 30 seconds is lots of time.
35:30Let's see what Spaggs draws up here for the defense.
35:41I know it's a preseason, but I promise you the Chiefs really want to win tonight
35:45after the way the other two preseason games have gone.
35:52Agent throws.
35:54Walker the target, and the ball comes out incomplete.
35:57Well, and the Bears are trying to get something established, too.
36:02New head coach in Ben Johnson, he's trying to implement a program
36:05and set a standard of what he wants to get done and accomplish.
36:09And great defensive play there, knocking the ball, not giving up on the play.
36:14It's a really good job.
36:15Johnny Carter, 46, the rookie out of Houston, staying with that play.
36:19You see how Carter – the ball was caught,
36:21but Carter kept that right arm all the way down and ripped at the ball,
36:26knocking it loose as he went to the ground.
36:28So excellent job by Carter finishing that play.
36:31Pajan will check it down on the crosser.
36:34He completes it to Tyler Scott.
36:37It's enough for a first down, 17 seconds to go.
36:43Gain of 13 on the play.
36:44Ben Johnson having a lot of success in the NFL as an offensive coordinator,
36:55now getting an opportunity to be the head coach.
36:59And he stuck around an extra year in Detroit
37:01because he thought that they might win the Super Bowl last year.
37:08First and ten.
37:09That is complete.
37:15Miles Boykin, the fifth-year man out of Notre Dame,
37:19but there's a flag on the play.
37:20Let's see maybe who pushed off here.
37:27ZZ Hearn in coverage for the Chiefs.
37:30Well, and the penalty hurts because it stops the clock.
37:34It'll be a hold against the Chiefs.
37:48Part of the pass, holding by the defense.
37:51That penalty is declined.
37:53The result of the play is second down.
37:54The foul is on number 47.
37:58They did get hurt on this.
38:01It's a good call.
38:04Mahomes doesn't like it.
38:09He's animated.
38:10He is.
38:11He's fully engaged right now.
38:16Eleven seconds to go.
38:20The throw to the outside,
38:21and the catch is made by Tyler Scott.
38:26So it'll be first and goal with seven seconds to go in the game,
38:30and the Chiefs clinging to a five-point lead.
38:34Timeout Kansas City.
38:50We want to make sure their defense is ready here,
38:52which just adds to what we've been saying,
38:56that it matters to the Chiefs.
38:57They want to win this game tonight.
38:59Well, and in reality,
39:01unless the ball's completed inbounds and doesn't get into the end zone,
39:06they've got a chance for two shots at the end zone here in seven seconds,
39:11unless Beijing runs around and uses up the time scrambling around.
39:15But my guess is they'll have the defense has got to come up with two stops here
39:20in the final seven seconds.
39:26Fans at Arrowhead making some noise.
39:28Situational football.
39:30You've heard me say it a bunch during the preseason,
39:32another opportunity to test yourselves in live action of situational football.
39:37Browns the running back.
39:39First and goal from the seven, seven seconds to go.
39:43Bajit will throw.
39:46And it's caught.
39:48Touchdown Bears.
39:49Walker gets the touchdown.
39:54What a comeback by the Chicago Bears.
39:58Six yards on the play.
40:00Walker with the touchdown.
40:02Well, I mean, it's perfect coverage.
40:04It just happens to be a perfect pass.
40:07I mean, he's right in position.
40:09It goes right in between, over the left shoulder,
40:13right next to his face mask.
40:1818 unanswered points by the Chicago Bears.
40:21I remember our comment in the quarterback meeting rooms used to be,
40:24you can't defend a perfect pass.
40:25That was a perfect pass.
40:26So, just three seconds remain in the game.
40:42Extra point coming up.
40:44Cairo Santos on for the extra point.
40:50Well, a block and a return is two points.
40:52There you go.
40:53They've already blocked one extra point tonight.
40:54I'm just saying.
40:59Kick is on the way, and it is good.
41:03So, the Bears trail the entire night.
41:06They lead 29-27 when it counts,
41:08with just three seconds to go in the game.
41:12Bajit tonight, 20 of 28, 212 yards and three touchdowns.
41:16I think the Bears are feeling pretty good about that extension.
41:18Yeah, they, he's put together an impressive game here,
41:25but impressive since he's been there.
41:28Yeah.
41:28And to be rewarded, to be rewarded.
41:32She's not having it.
41:33No.
41:35A house divided.
41:36All right, so, how about a kick return for a touchdown?
41:41A little walk-off.
41:47Badger and Holiday are deep for the Chiefs.
41:50Patrick Mahomes, Gardner Minshew.
42:10Those guys, plenty of personality between those two.
42:12They'll have some fun quarterback room meetings with those guys this year.
42:16Here we go.
42:24Here comes Holiday.
42:27And Holiday brought down at the 25-yard line.
42:31And that is how the 2025 Chiefs preseason will end,
42:36with the Bears winning 29-27.
42:39Trent, what's your final takeaway from this preseason?
42:42Well, I think they're in position once again.
42:44And I know there's a lot of people predicting other teams in the AFC.
42:50Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, Chris Jones,
42:53all the stars are there, all their young defensive players.
42:57Yeah, they're going to be a part of the mix.
42:58They're going to be a part of the conversation all year
43:00and right in contention to have that home field advantage
43:04and maybe even the bye if they keep things rolling.
43:06So, another great year with Yari.
43:08Awesome.
43:08Appreciate you, Trent Green.
43:10You're the man.
43:10Final score, 29-27.
43:13Bears win for Trent Green, Matt McMullen, Kimmy Chex,
43:16and our entire Chiefs television crew.
43:17I'm Ari Wolf.
43:18Thanks for watching Chiefs Preseason Football.
43:21The regular season gets underway on Friday, September 5th
43:24versus the Chargers from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
43:27It's been an absolute pleasure bringing these preseason games to you.
43:30Good night from Kansas City and enjoy the regular season.
43:34Hopefully another Super Bowl run.
43:35Good night.
