00:00Brian Baio on Friday night threw an absolute gem, and I believe that leads to the Terps
00:08that of the week.
00:09It does.
00:09Yeah, it's time for a conversation about Brian Baio.
00:11Yes, it is.
00:13Since June 1st, he leads the American League in quality starts with 12.
00:16He's second in all of Major League Baseball over that stretch behind just Christopher
00:20Sanchez, and his ERA from June 1st is 275.
00:24Just for a reference point, Garrett Crochet is a 266.
00:28Jeez.
00:28So the guy has been incredible, and it hasn't even just been this last two-month stretch
00:32here.
00:3314 of his 22 starts this year have been quality starts.
00:36He's one of only 25 pitchers to reach that mark, and for those listening that don't know
00:41the quality start, they have to pitch at least, the pitcher goes at least six innings, allows
00:44three-year-old runs or fewer, but the guy has been terrific.
00:46Pure baseball with Terp.
00:48No, that's wild on Baio, because that's somebody that I have not ever fully believed in, and
00:54it probably is time.
00:55Even this year, people were hesitant to buy in on him.
00:57And it's just like, this is who he is now.
00:59And maybe it is credit to the Andrew Bailey pitching lab that they got him in.
01:03And this is a career year, and he seems more comfortable.
01:05He's been pretty open about it.
01:06Having his family here has been big for him.
01:08Cor has talked about that as well.
01:10But I mean, if you're going to get this, and him developing into a legitimate number
01:13two, which has been so big for this team, oftentimes overlooked, because you're getting
01:16guys like Roman Anthony contributing.
01:18And Trevor's story is just so many people are contributing to this team.
01:21And it's like, you're not really looking at Brian Baio the way people maybe should be.
01:25Bradford had a tweet yesterday, and it felt like it was an attack on me, because it was
01:30very, very specific.
01:31He said, Brian Baio was 185 pounds when he made his big league debut.
01:36He is now 203 pounds.
01:38I think that legitimately mirrors me.
01:42I think when I first started in radio, I was 185.
01:44I'm probably 203 now.
01:46Difference being, Baio put on muscle weight.
01:48I put on just fat beer weight.
01:50So that's the big difference.
01:51It's all the same.
01:52Pounds are pounds.
01:52Height and weight were probably pretty similar.
01:54But no, Brian Baio has been, and Nick even pointed this out, like 10 games into this season.
02:00He was really good in the second half last year.
02:03Right?
02:03So it's been over a full season.
02:05If you add the two together, it's been actually even more good Brian Baio than not.
