00:00Two of the big decisions Cora had to make last night,
00:03when to take out Brian Baio, he went quick hook on Baio,
00:06and then how long to stick with Whitlock.
00:08He seemed to give him a long hook, as it were.
00:11So what were your thoughts on those two decisions?
00:15Yeah, the Baio one, you know, we should have saw it coming.
00:18You know, Baio hasn't stopped, hasn't been great the last few outings.
00:23And, you know, I think we all, or at least I was seduced with the idea of like,
00:27okay, we're going to do the John Lester, Josh Brackett, Curt Schilling,
00:31Jordan Montgomery, Zach Allen, you know, Nathan Evaldi thing,
00:34where you're just going to ride all these starters to the promised land.
00:38And, yeah, because we saw Crochet.
00:40But, no, that's not how these postseasons work,
00:42and we were reminded that with Baio.
00:44His stuff hadn't been good, and I think they knew that.
00:47They saw that, and they're like, we're not taking any chances.
00:50We're going to rope-a-dope the Yankees.
00:52We're going to get all your lefties in there,
00:54and then we're going to come with all these left-handed pitching.
00:57And for a while, it looked like an unbelievably great move.
01:00But, you know, I think that ultimately, if you go on any run,
01:04I mean, I just, you have to have two good starters, man.
01:07Like, you have to find them.
01:08You can't just keep, because what happens is what happened last year
01:11in the postseason.
01:12Teams ultimately run out of relief pitchers.
01:15And I think that that's the predicament the Red Sox are in right now.
01:18And you go to Whitlock, well, yeah, you know,
01:20Whitlock is like you got to the point of no return with them.
01:23Now you aren't using them.
01:25Like, there's no way that you can possibly use them.
01:27You burnt them.
01:28Nothing tonight?
01:29And what's unfortunate?
01:30I mean, what do you throw, like 48 pitches or something like that?
01:33Yeah, 47.
01:3347 season high, yeah.
01:35Yeah, yeah.
01:36No, I mean, I can't.
01:37I mean, maybe they'll say all hands on deck and everything else,
01:41but that's really hard for me to see.
01:44I mean, I should never say he's not pitching,
01:47because it is all hands on deck.
01:49Like, I mean, Aroldis Chapman, I think,
01:51would have come in the ninth inning last night,
01:54you know, even after getting four outs the night before.
01:56So, yeah, but still, like, what's this stuff going to look like?
02:00And this is, I mean, make no mistake about it.
02:03Like, we can talk about all the maneuvering that Cora has had to do
02:07and will do, but one of the foundations,
02:10one of the things that they felt like they could count on
02:12was Whitlock and Chapman.
