00:00There's a lot of buzz and a lot of hype around the Red Sox right now at the winter meetings.
00:06Should we believe the hype, by the hype?
00:09It's tough, because I know there's been many years now where they haven't gotten anybody.
00:14But last year they did.
00:15Last year they did.
00:16It took a while.
00:17It wasn't at the winter meetings.
00:18But last year they got Alex Bregman, who was an all-star.
00:21And everybody, for the most part, thought he had a good season, except for the time that he missed.
00:26And would like him back.
00:27And he'd be a good signing if they were able to get him back.
00:29Garrett Crochet was in the offseason.
00:31Or Aldis Chapman was in the offseason.
00:32We've gone over all the hits from last year's offseason.
00:35So that's why I can't just say no.
00:37Last year at this time, we were having a similar discussion.
00:39And you were like, hey, are they in on Juan Soto?
00:42And I was like, no, they're not.
00:43And they weren't.
00:44But it didn't mean they had a bust of an offseason.
00:46It just meant they weren't really truly in on the number one free agent.
00:51And then right after they signed, they were like, yeah, we were in on them.
00:54So this is, in a weird way, I'm going to spin this as a positive.
00:57Oh, when Kyle Schwarber signed with the Phillies yesterday, we found out that the Pirates were in.

01:03So you think you think this is I was about to bring this up.

01:08Because they, for many years, for some reason, and maybe they finally have been told the truth about this.
01:15Fans don't like finding out that you just missed out on a guy.

01:19See, we're doing our due diligence.
01:21Then they got dubbed the interest kings.
01:23And then they'd get mocked.
01:25But if yesterday, the two big signings were Kyle Schwarber and Edwin Diaz, if the Red Sox claimed to be second for both of those guys, they'd be insane.
01:33You're rolling your eyes and you're going, oh, God, here we go again.
01:35None of them not even be interested.
01:36You're like, all right, you better be interested in Pete Alonzo then.
01:38I'll listen to you on that.
01:39I'm spinning it as a positive just because for so many years, they were like, oh, so close on Seth Lugo.
01:46And you're like, then just sign Seth Lugo.
01:48Right.
01:49Don't be so close on Seth Lugo.
01:50So, in other words, if you're an Orioles, Reds, or Pirates fan, you're kind of getting angry at them because they're playing the game and they're not really in.

01:58So the Phillies got Schwarber for five years, $150, $30 million a pop.
02:02And the reports are now that Alonzo wants $30 million a year.
02:04The Mets won't go beyond three years.
02:06So it's four for $120.
02:08It sounds like four for $120 might be where it lands.
