00:00Hello there, Lee Sobot at the Orchard Evening Post here from Thorpe Arch, outside Thorpe Arch where we're about to speak to Leeds United boss Daniel Farker ahead of the second Premier League game of the season against Arsenal. A huge test at the Emirates on Saturday evening, 5.30 kick-off.
00:15But even before the press conference a big boost for Leeds United as the club have unveiled their ninth signing of the summer. Winger, attacker Noah Roquefort coming in from AC Milan for a fee of around about £18 million including add-ons.
00:29And he actually with those add-ons will just about become the most expensive signing of the summer so far for Leeds, just about eclipsing Anton Stack.
00:37And obviously if he ends up being anywhere near as good as Stack's been in his opening games then it'll be happy days for Leeds United.
00:43I'm sure Daniel Farker will be very very pleased about the signing of Okafor.
00:47He only said in his press conference last weekend after Dominic Calvert-Lewin had signed that that was a great signing especially on a free or he hopes it'll be a great signing.
00:55Obviously the big million dollar question with him is whether he can stay injury free.
01:00But he did sort of say straight away Daniel Farker that that needed to be the first step and Leeds have straight away backed that up with the signing of Noah Okafor.
01:09Who is obviously very very experienced, 25 years old, signs on a four year deal, can play all across the front line.
01:16He's a winger by all accounts but Leeds face him in pre-season friendly as well at AC Milan.
01:21And you would hope that he's the sort of player that would come in and make a pretty decent impact for this Leeds United side.
01:26It'll be interesting to see how the pecking order goes.
01:29Obviously you wouldn't think you'd be signing someone around about 18 million pounds really to sit on the bench.
01:34But obviously the Premier League is about having strength in depth.
01:37But you would have to think eventually Okafor will probably be a starter.
01:41Maybe with James on the other wing we will wait and see possibly Nonto.
01:44But you know you would hope and expect that that wouldn't be the last attacking signing really.
01:49And we'll speak to Daniel Farker about that and I think he's you know said all along really that he's been very very pleased with the signings this summer.
01:56But he has gone on record quite rightly and said that up until Okafor signing Leeds you couldn't say the front line was any stronger than last season.
02:03In fact probably weaker with Manor Solomon obviously having gone back, having been on loan and doing so well.
02:09So it's another step in the right direction for Leeds as was obviously the brilliant victory on Monday night against Everton.
02:14So it's definitely going in the right direction.
02:16Still feel they need a couple more probably as I say one more attacker I think everybody would be very very happy with that.
02:21But we should wait and see.
02:23A full back is obviously something they're looking at as well.
02:25James Justin was someone they were and are looking at but obviously he got injured at the weekend.
02:29So we'll wait and see on that front.
02:31And there's still a couple of weeks left to go just under of the transfer window remaining.
02:37So anyway a big boost the signing of Noah Okafor.
02:39As of any signing really it's you kind of wait and see what they're going to be like.
02:42But he certainly looks to have the pedigree obviously AC Milan on loan at Napoli.
02:46You know loads of caps for Switzerland and stuff.
02:48So he's done at the top level and now he's coming to the Premier League.
02:51The very very top level really where he'll have to do it for Leeds United.
02:54But Noah Okafor is in the door.
02:55The ninth signing of the summer as I say £18 million including add-ons.
02:58And let's hope it bats up with a couple more before the window shuts.
