Leeds United writer Lee Sobot on the 2-1 victory against West Ham under the Elland Road lights and a starring role from Brenden Aaronson.
Transcript
00:00Hello there Lee Sobot at the Orchard Evening Post here from Ellard Road. I've taken a little bit of
00:06cover because the weather is not good at all but the result for Leeds United definitely was a 2-1
00:11victory against West Ham United. Everybody knew how big this game was tonight and we could talk
00:16all evening about the performance, about how it happened but the main thing is the three points
00:20for Leeds. We're very interested to know what people think of the performance and who they
00:24thought stood out but I know certainly in Graham Smith's player ratings and I think I'd have to
00:28agree. Brendan Aronson with a 9 out of 10, he was very very good this evening, scored the goal which
00:33got Leeds going after about four or five minutes, reacted quickest to that, created plenty of chances
00:38as well, non-stop work, very lucky to the crossbar with a great run and the shot that deflected onto
00:44the crossbar in the second half and he was undoubtedly one of Leeds' best players this evening.
00:50A player who's obviously had his critics over the years and well since his time at Leeds but
00:55obviously he has shown what he can do as well and I think you know before the game when the
00:59teams were announced that was the real talking point. I think a lot of people looking at Aronson
01:04and thinking well Aronson's starting above and above Dan James, obviously James only just come
01:08back from injury but on that performance he's probably going to be in there on merit
01:12and if he reproduces that all the performances like that all the time so interesting to know
01:19what your thoughts are on Brendan Aronson whether you think you know based on a performance like that
01:23which is hard to argue with whether he should stay in the side really because that's what it's all
01:27about, competition for places and you could say possibly a bit of an unlikely hero tonight but
01:33credit where it's due, very very good performance from him. Joe Roden, immense at the back,
01:37it was his header that made it 2-0 to Leeds. Other things you might look at here were that
01:41West Ham did create an awful lot of chances and it felt for some way out they would score. Leeds
01:45just couldn't get out in the second half but in the end it took them to the 90th minute before
01:50they got a goal back. Thankfully only four minutes added time and Leeds had done enough for a big big
01:56big victory which booted them clear of the drop zone certainly ahead the rest of the weekend's games.
02:00But you know get involved in the comments below, let us know what you thought to the performance,
02:05what you thought to Aronson, who you thought, who you think the two wingers should be that should
02:08start, you know where you think really if anything this team can improve further. But obviously tonight
02:14it was all about the victory, they've got the victory, job done, Leeds 2, West Ham 1, onwards and upwards.
