00:00I think there's three head coaches that have their backs on the wall, against the wall, and are on the hot seat.
00:06Want to get your take.
00:07The first one is Kalen DeBoer in Alabama.
00:10Great first season at 9-3, but they missed out on the college football playoffs.
00:14Hugh Freeze in Auburn and Brian Kelly in LSU.
00:17I think all three of those seats are hot, Coach.
00:20What are your thoughts about all three head coaches?
00:23Yeah, those are the three big marquee names.
00:25There's a couple of other coaches in the conference that are definitely in the hot seat,
00:28but those are the biggest ones.
00:30And let me say this about Kalen DeBoer.
00:32You're always on the hot seat at Alabama, always.
00:36You're compared to Bear Bryant, and you're compared to Nick Saban.
00:39Both guys won six national championships, Alabama, over 80% of their football games,
00:44and you're compared every year.
00:46So can Kalen DeBoer win eight or nine or ten games and keep himself there?
00:50If you don't play for a championship and win championships, eventually it's going to happen.
00:55And remember, the hot seat at Alabama is different.
00:58There were seven coaches between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban.
01:02All of them left.
01:03Four of them left on their own with winning seasons after two to four years
01:07because the pressure was so much.
01:09They could never make people happy.
01:11The other three got fired, four left on their own, and they finally got to Nick Saban.
01:15That's where Kalen DeBoer is.
01:17So you don't have to get it all this year, but if you don't, it's just going to make it tougher on you
01:21because eventually you've got to win it all at Alabama more than any other school in the country.
01:26And it starts week one against the Florida State Seminoles.
01:30They're a 13-and-a-half point favorite.
01:32We'll see how that game plays out.
01:33But a couple of, you know, factors in that game, Coach.
01:36Jan Miller, their starting running back, will be out with a broken collarbone.
01:41They don't have their starting running back to start against the Seminoles.
01:44So we'll see how that plays out.
01:46And I said this about Kalen DeBoer, 9-3 is a fantastic season anywhere but Alabama.
01:52When the expectation is to win a college football national championship
01:57and get to a college football playoff appearance, it's almost like coaching the New York Yankees.
02:02It's go big or go home, right?
02:04And the same thing, you know, in other schools as well.
02:07I will say this about Hugh Freeze, and I do want to get this take from the coaching perspective.
02:13Hugh Freeze made his mark back at Liberty with a mobile quarterback, Malik Willis, Caden Salter,
02:20and then we saw him take over again, Auburn.
02:23But he didn't have a mobile quarterback.
02:25He had Peyton Thorne transfer in from Michigan State, more of a pocket passer.
02:30Now he gets Jackson Arnold from Oklahoma, mobile, but certainly not like Caden Salter or Malik Willis.
02:38Why is Hugh Freeze deviating from the offensive philosophy that he built with Liberty?
02:44Well, I think he had to go out and get a name of a quarterback, a quarterback with a name,
02:49a quarterback that was a great high school recruit.
02:52Everybody wanted him.
02:54And so there's a big upside to him.
02:56There are those that think offensive scheme is what hurt him, not his talent at Oklahoma.
03:01That is what is yet to be seen.
03:04But I think Hugh clearly knows he had to make a good decision because the quarterback problem was terrible.
03:10Everything problem they had was around the quarterback situation there.
03:14So that one's got to work, and I don't know that it has.
03:18In fact, I saw this week where he came out and said, I might play three quarterbacks the first game.
03:23If you're playing three quarterbacks, then you haven't answered your questions yet.
03:26And that one scares you, but Jackson Arnold needs to be the guy.
03:30He needs to have a great year.
03:32Hugh Freeze has based his future on that, and he's got to hope he made that right decision.
