00:00It's a double celebration really because this year we're celebrating 18 years in the new maternity
00:07unit as it is and then we chose today in particular as it's 18 years from our first birth in the home
00:14from home which was our first alongside Mitra Fulain birthing unit so it's really a double
00:19celebration today for the whole unit and it's really exciting and lovely to celebrate the
00:24journey we've been on. It's nice to have her special day marked as something bigger as well
00:34so it's lovely yeah so it's really really nice. The unit's been great and we've had this is our
00:40second one here and the unit here has always looked after us really well. I had a hand then in helping
00:45with setting it up. So it was great and then we won a couple of awards in our first year and I
00:51really enjoyed my time. I was the manager in there for seven years. It's fantastic to reach the
00:57milestone of the 18th birthday and I've been here since the unit opened so it's been it's just
01:03been marvelous over the years to see people and supporting Midorfield Ed Care and the Australis
01:08Hospital.
01:13It's lovely to come back and then see all the old faces that I work with you know who were here.
01:18Girls like Sandra and Pauline who helped set it up and were the first midwives who worked in here.
01:23It's just lovely to see girls that I would have trained up.
01:27So I started in the old maternity unit more years ago than I care to remember as a shy little student
01:34midwife. This year I actually have come full circle and I've come back as the deputy head of
01:38midwifery and which seems entirely surreal to me but it's so it's been so lovely it seems like coming home
01:45and I'm really excited to see where we go in the next phase.
