00:00Tying narrow 3-2 defeat against Boston. Obviously two key decisions there from the referee have proved quite influential there with the red card for Theo and the late disallowed goal.
00:11Thoughts on that?
00:13At the minute if we're flipping a coin it's coming down heads and we're calling tails or the opposite way around we're just not getting them over to green.
00:20We scored two really good goals but we have to take culpability for the goals we've conceded.
00:25The first one we've allowed a ball in the box far too easily and then we've given them a free header in the box.
00:30That block's done that for years and we knew about that as a threat.
00:34I'm disappointed with that side of things but I've got to say to play after the dismissal I thought the lads, even before that, were in control of the game.
00:44We controlled large parts with ten men so I've just said to the players that sometimes when you lose a game it's not fair.
00:52Let's hope it's going to turn around with them decisions because you've just mentioned two off the top of your head.
00:57I can think of at least two or three penalty shouts, real penalty shouts. One is an absolute stormwater thought.
01:03But we're not getting any decisions at the minute but we've got to keep going on to the next game really.
01:08It was over an hour with ten men but there's still a lot of pressure you've built and a good performance even with the ten men.
01:14Listen, I'm not at all disappointed with the application of the lads and their work ethic and their willingness to play for the badge.
01:23That's part of what we are as a football club. That's a non-negotiable.
01:29I didn't expect, I mean I'm not one of them blokes where if you do have someone sent off to immediately blame him,
01:35you've got to look at the factors of why he got sent off. He was making a challenge for the ball, he actually won the ball.
01:39So it's a tough one. But people will point to that as the reason we lost the game. It's not.
01:45I didn't think, with all due respect to Boston, it didn't matter if they had two extra men because it's not what they do.
01:50They force you into your box well and they put good balls in your box and they've got people willing to die in a box to score a goal.
01:58So we have to match that on a couple of occasions. We just didn't today and that's what's cost us.
02:03And Haddie obviously continuing his sort of good form and played well up there and a really nice finish.
02:08Well I've been a big fan of Haddie since I came to the club. He's been really unfortunate with nasty injuries.
02:13But I thought his general play, the whole of his general play was really good today.
02:18His hold-up play, his link play, his physicality and when he got the opportunity, it was a great finish to be fair to the lad.
02:24So I'm pleased for him because he puts in the work. He's one of the first on the training ground and one of the last off always.
02:30So it's nice that he's having a bit of fruit bearing for himself at the moment.
02:34And you say about calling heads and landing tails, the third goal was a bit of an example of that, the deflection.
02:40I mean, what sort of saved it without that?
02:42That's it. I think you could have thrown his cap on it otherwise. But look, if you don't buy a ticket, you don't win the lottery, do you?
02:46It's nicked young James's thigh, I think, and flew in the top corner.
02:51So on another occasion it flies over the bar and goes the other way.
02:54Like I said, if I want a better expression, I'll use yours in terms of the heads and tails thing.
03:00It's just not falling for us at the minute.
03:03And Tristan off the bench, getting a goal, obviously good for him and really nice finishing that as well.
03:07Yeah, pleased about that.
03:08I thought everybody who came off the bench had a positive effect on the game.
03:11They infused a bit of energy as something different to the lad that come off.
03:15So, yeah, I think not just Tristan, but I'm delighted he got a goal.
03:19I thought Kwame was a handful as always.
03:21I thought young Archie did really well when he went on, as did Kivan.
03:25So, yeah, I was pleased with the lads who went on.
03:27And like I said, I'm not disappointed with the performance, and not our performance anyway.
03:31I may be disappointed with one or two other people's performances, but that's sometimes how it happens.
03:36Yeah, I mean, obviously the penalty shouts and then the disavow right at the end.
03:39I mean, you can't control that, can you?
03:41I can't, but I'd like to think, in the heat of that moment, if you watch it back, and I've watched it back on numerous occasions,
03:50he doesn't blow the whistle until the lad drops the ball.
03:52And the lad drops the ball because he classes into his own man.
03:55Kwame doesn't make any contact with the goalkeeper, so it's a really hard one to swallow
04:00because I thought we deserved to take something from the game.
04:02And when you don't, I mean, ultimately it's three points, but it feels worse than that at the minute
04:07because we've lost a football match, and I don't think we deserved to.
04:09And as you say, hard to swallow and deserve something, but you've got to take those positives into Eastleigh on Wednesday.
04:14Yeah. Look, the game's come thick and fast. It's Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Monday.
04:18So, we can't worry about it. We've got to dust ourselves down, put the right things in the lad's bodies,
04:24get them back on the move Monday and Tuesday, ready for Eastleigh here on Wednesday.
