00:00Tommy, 3-2 defeat against the EC tonight. Plenty of chances created, looking really bright on the ball again.
00:07I guess obviously defensively was what proved to cost you that tonight.
00:11Well, yeah, individual errors at two set plays ultimately cost us the game because we scored two goals and they've scored three from set plays.
00:18So it's a recurring theme. We keep scoring enough goals to win football matches, but we keep conceding one more than we should.
00:27Yeah, it is frustrating, but look, there's no good me being down in the dunks and getting angry and what have you.
00:32I've got to be constructive to the group. The supporters have been excellent, both have owned games in fairness to them.
00:39I think they're seeing what we're doing and they'll be as frustrated as I am, I'm sure, and some will expect change.
00:45But we are where we are. We've got what we've got and we've got to work with that.
00:49So we've got to dust ourselves down, same as we do if we win a game.
00:52We just count the bodies, see who's fitting well and able to play the next game.
00:56We move on to solid-up.
00:58It's been three five-goal thrillers, three 3-2 defeats.
01:01You've scored the six goals and all three games could have been wins, could have been different stories.
01:05Yeah, and that's what keeps me going as the manager.
01:09I mean, if we were losing these games heavily and without troubling the scorer as ourselves, then I would be concerned.
01:15But we aren't like that. And we're in every game. I think if you ask the three managers we've played against, they'd say, well, they probably just, because they scored the extra goal, they deserve to win the games.
01:25I'm not arguing that. But I think at least two of the three, actually three of the three, could argue in our favour that we could have won all three games, but we certainly could have taken something from each.
01:37And there's the difference between having zero points and three or four or nine points at this time.
01:41So, like I said, listen, it's a marathon, not a sprint. And we've got some young lads who are starting their race at this level.
01:51And we've got to back them, we've got to support them and we've got to help them to eradicate the mistakes that are costing us these points at the minute.
01:59You'll obviously stick to your principles and obviously, you know, there is encouragement in the way that you're playing and chances and goals you're scoring.
02:05It's just, as you say, eradicating those individual errors at the back.
02:08Yeah, that's difficult. That's something that individual has to buy into.
02:11And I don't think there's anybody up there who doesn't want the same collective intention as the staff.
02:16And that's obviously to win football matches. And we can only concentrate on one at a time.
02:19We'll obviously analyse this one. But I can tell you now, I can tell you how the goals happened against us.
02:25And it's just poor, poor, from our individuals who are charged with mark and certain players in their team.
02:32They know, I'll keep that in-house. But the lads in there know who it is.
02:37And I don't have to tell them, I don't have to out them publicly, but they know.
02:41And once they do a lot right, the little bit that we're doing wrong at the minute is costing us.
02:46And we've just got to hope that changes, which I'm sure it will.
02:48So it's only been three games and you could easily have plenty of points on the board at this stage.
02:52And you'll obviously look for that now looking ahead to Solihull.
02:55Yeah, I mean, listen, there'll be people yelling from the rooftops about we need to do this, we need to do that.
03:01At the end of the day, you know, my cup is still awful, or more than awful, and we will win games playing worse than we've played in these first three games.
03:14That's a message that people don't want to hear. They'll think I'm, you know, candy-flossing the situation.
03:19But I'm not. I'm not. There's 40-odd games still to go here. There's 120-odd points to play for.
03:24I am in no way, shape or form worried about the situation. And if people are, then they're going to have a look at themselves in the mirror, not at me.
