00:00Basically, a lot of this is coming about because the Colts have established a real crisp passing game tonight.
00:06And then all of a sudden, you start playing pass and you can run that ball right down their throat.
00:12There he is, north and south.
00:14I just like it. I just love the way he's played here this summer.
00:18Goodson had one rushing touchdown last season.
00:20Saw the majority of his offensive snaps in October when Jonathan Taylor was dealing with an injury.
00:27Schrader on for the extra point try.
00:30And no problems whatsoever.
00:32So, scoring drives led by both quarterbacks so far for the Indianapolis Colts.
00:3810-0 lead for the Horseshoes as you're watching Colts preseason football.
00:54Fly up and away with Oliver Winery.
00:56It's your chance to win a VIP trip or two to watch the Colts play in Kansas City.
01:00Scan the code of your bottle of blueberry Moscato or enter today at colts.com slash wine.
01:08Touchdown drive led by Anthony Richardson and capped off by Tyler Goodson from three yards out.
01:14Colts enjoying a two-score lead with five minutes left to go before halftime.
01:18Yeah, really looking sharp tonight.
01:22Really picked it up from Thursday.
01:25Passing game.
01:26Very, very efficient.
01:27Very decisive.
01:29Both quarterbacks, actually.
01:30They keep making it tough.
01:32165 yards in total passing so far between Jones and Richardson.
01:40To the three-yard line and a bobble on the return by Avakonda.
01:45Oh, no.
01:46But, eventually taken down at about the 24-yard line for Israel Abane Konda.
01:55Time for our Citizens Energy Group scoring recap.
02:00Outstanding drive.
02:0212 plays and 90 yards.
02:05Well done by the Indianapolis Colts offense.
02:08And one more preseason game for each of these two teams.
02:14Packers return home to play Seattle next Saturday.
02:18Goodson banged up on that last special team's play.
02:21That's the only negative of the day as injuries have started to hit the Indianapolis Colts are.
02:27JT, number 91 in there, played really well.
02:30He's in there right in now.
02:32New quarterback is in there as well for the Packers.
02:36Handoff goes to Wilson.
02:37Wilson, that's good for a gain of eight.
02:41And Taylor El-Gersma is now the quarterback in the game for the Green Bay Packers.
02:47And his story is unique.
02:49He played U-sports.
02:51That's what they call college sports in Canada.
02:53He won the Canadian Heisman last year
02:56and was the second Canadian player ever invited to play at the Senior Bowl this winter.
03:02He and Sean Clifford could be in a battle for the third quarterback position.
03:10Flag comes in behind the play.
03:12A gain of six, but you would think this is coming back.
03:16Yep.
03:16Wilson-Edward 500 yards rushing a season ago, the ball carrier.
03:25We'll wait for the call here, but the Colts are saying they have the football too.
03:29Austin-Ajike has the footballer, had it in his hands.
03:33Let's see if there's going to be a possession change here or if the ball was ruled dead.
03:37Let's see.
03:37Well, the good news is, while the mic wasn't working, my lip-reading skills are tremendous.
03:54Face mask against the offense, 15-yard penalty.
03:57Colts have the football.
03:58Penalty gets included as well.
04:00Colts will take over with a short field.
04:03Yep, coming through there.
04:05Coming through there.
04:06Somebody's got to get their hands on it.
04:09Darrell and Shami was the player that had his face mask grabbed.
04:16Now we'll look for the football again.
04:18It was Austin-Ajike that had the football in his hands at the end of the play.
04:24That was really a scrum in there.
04:26It's hard to figure out how they got it out, but most importantly, we got it.
04:30And this play is being held up as all automatic,
04:33and all turnovers are automatic reviews.
04:36And thumbs up has been given from the booth upstairs.
04:40The Colts will have the football, and they'll tack on 15 yards in the spot of the recovery as well.
04:48Take us right down into that orange zone just on the tip of the red.
04:52Tim Smith getting the kudos.
04:55You would think the rookie from Alabama is likely the guy that forced the fumble on that play.
04:59And the point I wanted to make, it's really important for those young interior guys to make their mark
05:04and to see who those backups are going to be.
05:08Giddens is the setback.
05:09Richardson throws it behind Giddens.
05:14It'll be a second down.
05:15And that, now, we talk about the good things with Richardson.
05:19That's something that he's got to get better at.
05:21When you're throwing at a running back, when you're throwing to a running back,
05:26that ball has got to be a foot and a half in front of him.
05:30You never want to make a running back reach back for it for the football.
05:34That's what I always call pinpoint accuracy versus Saturday accuracy.
05:40Colts had two interceptions last week.
05:42Defense forces the fumble here.
05:45Colts were top ten in the league in turnovers forced by defense last year.
05:49Giddens, he called him a glider.
05:51He was gliding that time down to the 10-yard line, 12-yard pickup.
05:55What he is is he's a glider, and then he can drive.
05:58He's a glider and then explode.
06:01Excellent patience going through there.
06:03Giddens finds it, gets north and south.
06:06That's what we've been looking for a little bit.
06:08Baldwin on the hit, first and goal for the Colts.
06:10Ball the 10-yard line.
06:11That was also a really good pull by Travis at left tackle.
06:15That was like a tackle trap.
06:17Giddens had 23 rushing touchdowns in his days at Kansas State.
06:22It's Giddens again.
06:24Flag comes in.
06:26Tackle made at the point of the attack.
06:28That's Kamal Haddon on the play.
06:30That right at the point from behind, not good.
06:34Holding, offense number 85, 10-yard penalty.
06:37We play first down.
06:39Goodson being taken to the locker room.
06:40So again, that's now Smith, Freeland, Wohler, Goodson
06:45that have all been banged up during the course of this first half.
06:48First and goal, 20-yard goal.
06:53NFL has always been, it's just a league of attrition.
06:57You've got to have depth when it's all said and done.
07:00Mallory has a wide out in this formation.
07:13Giddens on the sprint right out of the backfield.
07:15Couldn't hang on to it.
07:17Yep, in anchor.
07:18Got to get it there.
07:19Got to get in the ball.
07:20Hadn't in coverage for the Packers.
07:21Second down.
07:22Again, this is just a little wide route right there.
07:27You know, it was a tough one because the defender was there.
07:30But, you know, put it on him.
07:32You've got to put that ball on him.
07:33Those are the things that have to be there.
07:35And you are seeing primarily the twos in the game
07:39along with Richardson here.
07:47Looking for the end zone and Mallory the target
07:50but had four defenders in the vicinity.
07:53Third down.
07:54Yeah, that was the time to take the shot right there on second down.
07:58That's just a four-go route all Betty in the seams
08:00and he's looking for his buddy Mallory right there but well defended.
08:04Good judgment on just getting rid of it where nobody could get to it.
08:09Just four catches last year for Will after 18 in his rookie season in 23.
08:13He's caught a bunch still at Grant Park this summer.
08:16He really has.
08:17He has been as impressive as any skill player
08:19in terms of preseason workouts.
08:26Richardson, a little shovel pass to Giddens.
08:28And Giddens gets what he can.
08:31And field goalie will be coming on here to make it a potential 13-point lead.
08:38Yeah.
08:40Nice job avoiding that first rush.
08:42He was right there.
08:43Good decision by Anthony.
08:45Nice job of a little bit of ad-lib just to gain something.
08:48Well, Schrader was busy in Baltimore, was three of four in his time on the field
08:54in terms of his field goal tries.
08:56He has been busy here too, but the attempts have not been of the arduous variety.
09:02This from 29.
09:04Earlier make from 25.
09:06No problem whatsoever.
09:08We'll keep it here just before the two-minute warning with 2.14 left to go
09:13in quarter number two.
09:15Fans, you can enter the Kicking Me With the Colts sweepstakes
09:17presented by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance for a chance to be on the field during kickoff
09:21and enjoy the game from VIP field level seats.
09:25Enter today at colts.com slash IFBI.
09:28Time for another Citizens Energy Group scoring recap in short field after the fumble.
09:38Recovered by Ajike and forced by Tim Smith.
09:41Just 11 yards and second scoring drive led by Anthony Richardson.
09:48The only concerning thing from this first half has been the injuries.
09:52Caliber of play has been fun to watch for Colts fans.
09:55Yeah.
09:55I think one of the things that we really have to be able to do,
09:59and it was something that we struggled at a year ago,
10:02is we've got to score in the red zone.
10:05You know, right now this is a two-possession game.
10:08This one could be 21 to nothing if we score in that red zone.
10:12You've got to be able to finish those drives when you get in there.
10:18Traders' last kick brought back to just shy of the 25-yard line.
10:21And again, touchbacks this year are to the 35,
10:24which is why you see all these kicks in the field of play.
10:29Avana Kanda brings it back to the 32-yard line where this Packers drive will start.
10:35Now time for our Forum Credit Union Question of the Week.
10:39This week's question is,
10:41how many catches is Michael Pittman Jr. away from reaching the top five in Colts history?
10:50It's not that many.
10:52We'll give you a little more information in our next,
10:55when we pay off that from an answer standpoint.
10:58Another Colts player is slow to get up at the conclusion of that play.
11:02And that is Shegu Alubi.
11:07Really struggled with injuries this summer.
11:10This is just another one.
11:12Hopefully not serious.
11:14And they seemingly have picked up as the weeks have gone along.
11:17Yeah.
11:18And we're not seeing players like Alec Pierce,
11:21Josh Downs, Kenny Moore,
11:23who all dealt with injuries that were suffered this week.
11:26Yeah.
11:27It's been an unbelievable sketching.
11:35So Alubi making the slow walk to the sidelines.
11:38And Colts will have a full week of practice at the facility on 56th Street.
11:46Everything you can do.
11:49Lank Cincinnati Bengals in Cincinnati next Saturday.
11:52Same time, 1 o'clock on Saturday.
11:55Isaiah Land in there for the first time now for Indianapolis.
11:59JT Tui Moloow will bump inside to a defensive tackle position.
12:08And the hackers had a trick play worked out,
12:10and the left tackle is a little too eager.
12:12Five-yard penalty.
12:13That's good to note that JT has moved inside
12:16because I think what is going to happen if Latu comes on
12:21and Ebukon comes back and stays healthy,
12:24then you're going to be looking for a top-flight guy
12:27that go next to Buckner on their NASCAR package on third down.
12:31And, you know, it's going to be Lewis,
12:33or, you know, it could be Quiddy, or it could be JT.
12:40Oh, Gerzba.
12:41Here comes pressure and won't get away.
12:45Wrangled down.
12:46Lemons.
12:48Lemons.
12:48And Lemons makes the play again,
12:50and that will lead us to the two-minute warning.
12:54The veteran making the best of a second opportunity
12:56with the Indianapolis Colts.
12:59Colts lead by a Bakers dozen here at Lucas Oil.
13:02Colts fans, you can be here for live NFL action all season long
13:11as the official ticket marketplace of the NFL.
13:15Ticketmaster has a wide selection, 100% verified ticket,
13:17so you never miss a single play.
13:20Score tickets today at Ticketmaster.com slash Colts.
13:26Second and long coming up here for the Packers
13:28after the sack by Lemons,
13:29and I think, Rick, you are bullish on the opportunity
13:33he and others have in this new defensive system.
13:35Yeah.
13:37Basically, Lou, over the years,
13:39has made a science out of using the nickel,
13:42basically, and blitzing, and all kinds of different things.
13:45You know, he did it with Hilton at Cincy.
13:49Look for anybody that ends up being the nickel here,
13:52which is primarily Kenny,
13:53and then you're seeing it today with LeMond.
13:55They're going to be highly productive guys.
14:00Johnson was the intended target.
14:03Yeah, good inside pressure right there.
14:06Again, that's Smitty, 93, and Gallimore, 92.
14:09Those are two acquisitions.
14:11Gallimore by free agent,
14:12and again, I keep pointing out,
14:15we have got to find two guys to go behind Grover
14:18and to go behind Buck,
14:20so that when they come out,
14:21you know, we don't just give it up.
14:23Third and long, and it's a handoff,
14:26and the Colts obviously were ready for it.
14:29Wilson, the ball carrier.
14:31The Colts will take a timeout here,
14:33trying to give their team more of a chance
14:35to have a two-minute drill.
14:38Time for us to also pay off
14:40the Forum Credit Union Question of the Week.
14:42How many catches is Michael Pittman Jr.
14:45away from reaching the top five in Colts history?
14:49Well, first of all, in five seasons,
14:51he has 405 catches, which is remarkable.
14:55He's in seventh place.
14:58He is 22 away from being in the top five.
15:03The guys that are immediately in front of him,
15:06Bill Brooks is sixth with 411.
15:09Dallas Clark is in fifth.
15:10And as you can tell,
15:12Reggie raising his hand saying,
15:13yep, that's me on there.
15:15I'm second on that list with 1,070.
15:19Career catches only trailing
15:20Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison.
15:24I would say that's a pretty productive
15:25first five years with the team, right?
15:27Yeah, Michael is a real, real high-volume receiver.
15:32No question about it.
15:34So wheeling on for the punt.
15:35Holtz had two timeouts to work with.
15:40We hit that one.
15:41And this one will.
15:43That's your nine iron right there.
15:45Check up well.
15:46Ball battled about the seven-yard line.
15:50Well, hopefully we can get a little bit of get out of this hole right here,
15:56get out around the 20,
15:57and this would be a great opportunity
15:59with a little bit better field position
16:01for Anthony to run this two-minute drill.
16:04You know, I will say something about Anthony.
16:06Regardless of what has happened on the negative side,
16:09he has been very effective in two-minute situations,
16:13particularly at the end of the game.
16:15I think he plays better fast,
16:17and then the defenses get, you know,
16:19they get splintered down a little bit.
16:21Hand off Giddens.
16:28And Giddens, solid game.
16:30That's what you do on first down in two minutes.
16:32Draw a screen, and then you get in a hurry.
16:34You come right over the ball,
16:35you run a positive play,
16:37and then you go.
16:39Hackers have all three timeouts.
16:40They choose to use them.
16:42Giddens credited with an eight-yard pickup.
16:44Yeah, you want Anthony to get this drill.
16:47Richardson.
16:48Oh, good job.
16:49It's a sack.
16:50The ball is batted down.
16:51Oh, that's an incomplete pass.
16:53Good pressure applied that time by Keith Randolph.
16:57Yeah, terrific escape, but nowhere to go.
17:03The Packers and Colts played in week two last year.
17:05Richardson sacked just one time in that game.
17:13Got to pick this one up, then get in a hurry.
17:17Let's do have two timeouts remaining.
17:21Going to cross the 18-yard line.
17:26Blitz coming.
17:28Flag throw.
17:29Richardson throwing the deep ball for Gould,
17:32and Gould makes the grab past the 50-yard line.
17:36He is ruled down.
17:38Flag behind the play.
17:39I think it's coming back, Greg.
17:45Offside.
17:45Offense number 10.
17:47Five-yard penalty.
17:48Third down.
17:49Mitchell, Dean, to have lined up in an offside position.
17:52Those are the things we can't have from him.
18:01Those are the things you cannot have.
18:03That was a terrific throw.
18:06Greatest catch by Gould as well.
18:08Anthony is so upset.
18:10I would be, too.
18:10I mean, he avoided contact back there, got out of it, and actually threw a dime.
18:17That was a dime now.
18:18On the move.
18:21And that's what he can do.
18:24He can do that better than most people.
18:26That play took seven seconds off the clock.
18:33Packers drop out of the blitz this time, but they get home.
18:36Richardson dropped inside of the three-yard line.
18:39You know, I talked about in the pregame,
18:41what I'm worried about is the twist inside on those two new guys.
18:47Gonzalves totally missed the twist, number 71.
18:51And, you know, he's in our starting lineup.
18:53He's still in there for reps,
18:54but I worry about that more than anything with those new guys in there
18:58are twists and games versus a new center and a new guard.
19:03You bring it up.
19:04The guy that beating for the sack was his college teammate,
19:07Deslin Alexander, with the sack.
19:12Timeout taken.
19:14I really don't mean to sign prophetic, but we discussed that.
19:21I just, I'm just, you know, a little bit worried about that.
19:23We're going to have some work to do before we go into that opener.
19:27The Colts Books for Youth program presented by Cargo Services
19:30helps provide Indiana foster children with backpacks filled with age-appropriate books.
19:34If you'd like to help Indiana foster kids and donate to Books for Youth,
19:38check out colts.com backslash books for youth for more information.
19:41Reguberto Sanchez on to boot the ball away.
19:52Now one of the more veteran members of the Indianapolis Colts.
19:57First joined the team back in 2017.
19:59Reguberto Sanchez is going to get the ball here at half court with two timeouts.
20:06So the defense is going to have to toughen up right here.
20:13Hardman standing at the plus 47-yard line.
20:17Hardman, though, at the 43, will have some room to run.
20:30LeCron Treadwell in to make the tackle,
20:33but it will be on the plus side of the 50-yard line for the Packers
20:37with 47 seconds remaining.
20:38Colts fans into the tailgate-lit sweepstakes.
20:40Presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors
20:42for your chance to win two tickets to a Colts home game,
20:45two pregame sideline passes,
20:46a tailgating pack from Academy Sports Plus Outdoors,
20:49and more.
20:50Five winners will be selected this season.
20:52Learn more at colts.com slash academy.
21:00So we'll see the youngster from Canada
21:02have the chance during the two-minute drill.
21:12Well, Gerstmann throwing and almost intercepted.
21:18LeMond has been everywhere in half number one.
21:20Yeah, I'll tell you what, he has been.
21:21Again, he is man-to-man coverage with a safety in the hole.
21:25He's got outside leverage.
21:27He does a terrific job, you know,
21:30and actually gets enough of that at the very end.
21:33I kind of like this back judge.
21:35I'm an old defensive coach.
21:36I like when they let him play like that.
21:39It is back in.
21:41Four games played in 23 for Chris.
21:44And let's put the air on the practice squad.
21:45Last year got 14 games in.
21:48Had 12 tackles and a forced fumble.
21:51Yeah, we got to have that backup nickel now to Kenny.
21:54And he's going to be that guy.
21:56Flag throw.
21:58And Gerstmann.
22:00Catch made.
22:02Picks on the grab,
22:03but flag back to the line of scrimmage.
22:06Illegal formation.
22:10Offense number 76 was not on the line of scrimmage.
22:13Five-yard penalty.
22:14Second down.
22:15Got to get that call in every day.
22:16And again, you're trying to set habits
22:19for the remainder of the season.
22:22So you see a few more penalties in preseason football
22:24exactly for that reason.
22:26Yeah, and you know, the last year and a half,
22:28basically, that's been a big emphasis point,
22:31that line of scrimmage for that offensive tackle.
22:35So second down and 15.
22:3611 seconds of coming off the clock in this drive.
22:40And when you're Kadeem Telford and you're 6'7 and 3'22,
22:43hard to hide out there.
22:47Out of the backfield,
22:48Wilson gets past the linebacker.
22:51First down and more.
22:53Lowers the shoulder at the 20-yard line.
22:56Bit of a coverage breakdown by the Colts.
22:58Yeah, that's a really bad snap by Alube.
23:01Basically, you've got to use that sidelines and pin him here.
23:05You know, he's out in his zone.
23:06He's back in his zone.
23:07Now, here he comes.
23:08He's got the angle.
23:09He's got to use that sidelines.
23:11And he undercuts it and gives up a big play here in two minutes.
23:15Womack ends up making the tackle.
23:16And 0-4, Wilson picks up 32 yards and has the ball now at the 20-yard line.
23:22Yeah, you don't help yourself making the team doing that.
23:25And a missed field goal on the opening drive of the game.
23:31Oh, Gersman hit.
23:31That's a live football.
23:33It's an incomplete pass.
23:34Was a forward pass.
23:36And Chamey with the pressure of the former Maryland Terrapin.
23:39Yeah, and Chamey really turned it loose there on the edge.
23:42You know, really, he just cut the edge perfectly
23:44and was all over that quarterback.
23:46Chamey had a chance to play closer to home.
23:49Playing in Baltimore some nine days ago.
23:52There he is.
23:53He's coming off that left edge.
23:54He's coming really, really hard.
23:56And he forces the quarterback into a bad throw.
23:59Chamey joined the Colts on the practice squad last November.
24:05Second down.
24:07Flag.
24:09Throw.
24:10Catch is made.
24:12Tremendous catch.
24:13Flag on the play.
24:15It's going to be coming back, I think, for legal formation.
24:19Illegal formation.
24:20Offense number 71.
24:22It's not only one of the scrimmage.
24:23Five-yard penalty.
24:24Third down.
24:29Those tackles are having a rough two plays here.
24:32Yeah, Belton, unfortunately.
24:35Tenth penalty for 80 yards in the first half.
24:38Yeah, he's way back to start with, see.
24:40Way back off that line.
24:42I cried.
24:45I cried enough in my day to get that guy, make that tackle get up on the line.
24:51The second and 15.
24:55Two snaps, maybe three remaining in the half.
24:58With that A handoff.
25:02Get back the penalty yards.
25:03Israel Abana Kanda with the carrot.
25:06Timeout call.
25:07So, you've probably got one more snap to work with on now third down and ten.
25:21Again, Carly Ursae-Gordon, her usual spot down on the sidelines.
25:25But she'll be joining us up here in the broadcast booth during quarter number three.
25:30She's chatting it up with Grover Stewart.
25:32Kenny Moore to her right.
25:34Now we'll be chatting it up with us coming up during quarter number three.
25:37So, third down and ten.
25:48Green Bay has the entire field to work with because they do have one timeout remaining.
25:52Yeah, they're going to send them all deep here.
25:55Colts dropping five defensive backs inside of the five.
25:58Surprise, surprise.
25:59Flag is thrown again.
26:01That is good for a first down.
26:03And the clock blown dead with two seconds left to go.
26:09And in stunning news, you've heard this before.
26:10Illegal formation, offense number 71 was not on the line of scrimmage.
26:15Five-yard penalty, third down.
26:16They are cracking down on that in this game, are they now?
26:19Absolutely, man.
26:20They're getting their limit on this.
26:22Right down, that offensive line coach, I would hate to be in his headset right now.
26:30And so, with that, wipe away the game.
26:32He'll take the penalty, and now the field goal unit comes on.
26:37And this is McNamee.
26:38Their primary kicker is Brandon McManus, veteran of many years of the National Football League
26:44and a guy that spent time with the Colts in preseason camp several years ago.
26:51So, McNamee missed his earlier try.
26:54Actually spent time in training camp with the B.C. Lions in the Canadian Football League
26:59and then signed by the Packers in late July.
27:03This kick holds, and the Packers are on the board to end the quarter.
27:09But the Colts have been dominant so far in the opening 30 minutes.
27:12Injuries have been the lone concern.
27:15Quarterback play has been pretty good.
27:17Scoreboard reflection.
27:18Colts 13, Packers 3.
27:20As you're watching Indianapolis Colts preseason football.
27:30Welcome to Huntington, the official bank of the Indianapolis Colts.
27:34Where we get the third quarter action.
27:35Shane Steichen is standing by with Lara Overton.
27:39Shane, productive drives from both your quarterbacks in the first half.
27:43What was your assessment of Daniel Jones in the start?
27:45Anthony Richardson coming in the second quarter.
27:47Yeah, like you said, I think they both did a nice drive with the drives.
27:49We just got to eliminate the penalties down there in the red zone.
27:52You know, those are four-point plays that could have turned into touchdowns.
27:54But I thought they both moved the ball and operated well.
27:56Limiting Green Bay to just three points in that first half.
27:59Your defense has been disruptive, forcing some penalties on their part.
28:02A sack, a forced fumble.
28:03What do you want to see from that group in the second half
28:06with the guys out there with an opportunity to compete?
28:08Yeah, same thing they did in the first half.
28:09Keep fighting, keep competing.
28:10I think they're doing a heck of a job getting to the quarterback.
28:13They're contesting.
28:13All these passes are being contested.
28:15So, they're doing a great job.
28:16Thanks, Coach.
28:17Good luck in the second half.
28:19Your thoughts on what Shane had to say, Rick, about half number one?
28:22Yeah, well, he did appreciate the quarterbacks just like I did.
28:26And the other thing I think he made a point of, and it's such a contrast,
28:31was the amount of press coverage and tight coverage by the corners.
28:35You know, a lot of jump balls that we ended up getting out of there.
28:38And, you know, that leads to shutout defense and low-percentage completion.
28:44McNamee on.
28:44He's handled all the place-kicking duties today.
28:48One of two on his field goal try.
28:50Spencer Schrader made both for Indianapolis.
28:55Fielded at the five-yard line.
28:58It's Giddens.
28:58And Giddens breaks through the first couple of tackles and will turn it just shy of the 35-yard line.
29:07Well, Riley Leonard going to get the ball to start quarter number three.
29:10He got the entire second half in Baltimore.
29:15Yeah.
29:16You know, and I've always said if you look up competitor on Google, his picture will be there.
29:22There's no doubt about it.
29:23This kid is a great competitor.
29:25I think he has a future here.
29:27I think we'll be able to bring his accurate passing along.
29:32I think that's the issue that has to be addressed as we keep going forward.
29:37Leonard was 12 of 24, 92 yards, at a touchdown drive last week in the loss to the Ravens.
29:42This is Jelani Woods that could not hang on to it.
29:45And, again, part of the victory is seeing Jelani out there after missing each of the last two seasons due to injury.
29:51It is going to be a tough task for Jelani because the tight ends in front of him have played so solidly in camp.
29:57Yeah, and they all have specific roles on this team.
30:00It is a shame because when Jelani came in, you know, he and Ogletree looked like that was going to be a great one-two combination.
30:08But injuries have stalled that.
30:10And has not played in the 23 or 24 season.
30:13Second down.
30:14Leonard, again, fleet of foot, breaks through a tackle, still going.
30:19There he is.
30:19Competitor.
30:20There it is.
30:21Eight-yard pickup.
30:22There it is.
30:22That was reminiscent of the National Championship game against an overmatch.
30:27They were very overmatched.
30:28And he single-handedly kept him in there for a while.
30:31Let's also point out, he got four carries for 34 yards and along at 21 last Thursday.
30:36Picobs right here, just straight up there, breaking tackles, spinning.
30:43He's fun to watch.
30:44Three years at Duke than last year at Notre Dame.
30:47Had over 1,200 yards passing, leading them to the National Championship game.
30:52Ulysses Bentley, the fourth, out of Ole Miss.
30:57Yeah, he's on the all-name team.
30:59And I think he's really had a good camp.
31:02You know, we're full of running backs, but he had a good game last week.
31:06He had a good game last week, and I thought a really good practice sessions this week.
31:11So it'll be fourth down and short.
31:13And Rigoberto Sanchez will be on to boot this ball away.
31:23Fourth down and two.
31:25Hardman again back to handle the punt return duties.
31:28And this went into the end zone for a touchback.
31:45So this drive at the 20-yard line for the Packers.
31:49Now Gerzma, again, will be the starting quarterback for Green Bay.
31:52Today we saw him lead the two-minute drill to lead the Packers their lone points of half.
32:00Number one.
32:02Yeah, and we're getting a good look at all these corners that, you know, are in the mix now because of our injuries.
32:09And they've held up pretty doggone well, actually, tonight.
32:14Lamonts has been tremendous.
32:15We've seen Edwards get plenty of reps just like practice for the Colts this week.
32:19On the handoff, about a condo.
32:23We'll get a yard or two at most.
32:27I like that solid inside front right there.
32:30Again, one of my biggest concerns is to make sure we have depth in that interior.
32:35Well, as we have talked about, there are so many great Ursae family traditions
32:40that are being carried on by the next generation for the Indianapolis Colts.
32:45And one of them is joining us in the booth for a good chunk of a preseason game.
32:49We are thrilled to welcome the owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts and Carly Ursae Gordon.
32:55Carly, it's a pleasure to be with you.
32:57And I've been with the team since 2012.
33:00Rick's been here since 1982.
33:02He gets to ask the first couple of questions.
33:04No question about it, Carly.
33:06I'm thrilled that you're carrying on your father's tradition, my good friend of 43 years.
33:11And I'm going to congratulate you on a seamless transition.
33:15It really has been.
33:16And I think I'm going to ask you the first question, which probably has to do with that.
33:21How important was it to grow up in that football family when, you know, life was the Colts?
33:28And what has that meant to you as you take over this operation?
33:32Well, I think it's meant a lot, and to your point about the seamless transition, I think my sisters and I, we had the blessing to grow up in this business and to do a job where we get to play a game and entertain people and inspire them.
33:51And I think being able to grow up with our dad as a mentor, and he was a mentor, our father, my boss.
34:00But, you know, ultimately, he really encouraged us to just find our own niche and just he was a big proponent in the school of life.
34:11Because, as you know, there's no coaching college or coaching academy or a lot of these jobs.
34:17You have to learn by doing them.
34:19And I think when you get in and get your hands dirty, and that's what my dad always encouraged us to do, it just made it that much easier.
34:28You know, harder that, you know, he's up there and we can talk to him anytime we want.
34:35But it's just been amazing and incredible.
34:38You know, I've had the privilege, the honor and the privilege to work for three generations to firstize, okay?
34:45And not your grandfather, nor your father, who was a great X and O football guy, ever, was in position meetings, was on the sidelines, right in the midst of the huddle for every practice,
35:01and is down on that field with headsets on for real.
35:04So, you know, why and how important is that to you, and why have you really taken that kind of role?
35:12Well, I think when we talked at our kickoff luncheon about how the dynamics of a team, you know when you see it that it's special.
35:22But a lot of times you can't necessarily point your finger and say, that's what made this team special.
35:28That's what made this team special.
35:30And I think part of the thing that you have to do, especially in specific areas that are really important, coaching is, you know,
35:38they're in charge of hundreds of millions of dollars of human capital that our family's investing in.
35:44And I, over the years, and probably when we hired Chuck was when I first realized, being a part of that interview process,
35:52that I knew at a high level what goes into a coach's role, but honestly, behind the closed doors, you know,
36:01you'd hear things from people, but even on the personnel side, you'd be like, well, what do they do about this?
36:06Or how do they correct?
36:08And they're like, I don't know, I don't sit in those meetings.
36:10So I think it's been invaluable to sit in there and we have a great, we have a great coaching staff.
36:19We have some new coaches, but I think at first it was a little like, but I remember when Frank Reich was here,
36:26he said, this is a great idea.
36:28And my dad was, thought it was great.
36:30And he just said, you know, the one thing you have to do is you have to be here all the time.
36:34Because if you show up like a week after we lose and then you're not there when we win,
36:40you have to be there and be all in.
36:42And I, like, even with our new defensive staff, they've been, they've been outstanding.
36:47And they understand what I'm trying to do.
36:50I'm just trying to learn.
36:51And I'm trying to ultimately, my sisters and I, we want to help.
36:54We want to be a resource to have everyone be successful.
36:58You know, in your, in your press conference,
37:02you spoke of not just winning, but of being great, being the best.
37:08And you reiterated, you know, what your father had said post, you know, post season in 24 is,
37:16you know, basically this isn't good enough.
37:18And we have to get back to Colt standard, to the standard, you know, we're winning championships
37:24and divisions were normal.
37:27In your mind, going into this 22 season, what, what level of success will it take for you to believe
37:37that we're on the right track and we can stay the course with the regime?
37:43So by what do you mean by success?
37:45I have, you, you define it for me.
37:47What, you know, what, what level are you going to be happy with and to say, you know,
37:52we're on the right track.
37:54This regime is okay.
37:55We'll stay with it.
37:56I guess that's what I'm saying.
37:58So I think ultimately, you know, going back to being the, being the best versus winning.
38:04And then when you relate it to the standard, you know, winning is really, it is, it's just an outcome.
38:10You know, you could win and be not very good.
38:14You know, you'll win, like you could have a not great team and win some games.
38:17You could have, and you could lose some games and be an amazing Super Bowl team.
38:21I think being the best is more about, it's a journey.
38:26It's an endless thing that you're seeking.
38:27And it can, I've talked to some players where it's like, they get this, I'm just so frustrated.
38:33And I said, you know, that's part of people that want to be the best.
38:36It's never good enough.
38:37And I think part of what we have to see is that we have to stop, you know, I think Shane's done
38:44a good job talking through camp about how the process has, you have to be, you know, a lot
38:50of coaches say the process, but really the process, you know, sometimes part of the process
38:55is looking at whatever process we had.
38:58And I think part of with us being, my sister and I being such hands-on owners is that we
39:04can look at last year and in retrospect, okay, like what was working?
39:09What wasn't working?
39:10Like, I love Gus, but it was time to move on from Gus, you know?
39:12And certain players, like bringing on Cam Bynum, bringing on Mooney, drafting, I think
39:20even in the draft, knowing, okay, we need to make sure the coaches and the personnel are
39:24working together and we're looking at what our scheme is and how we want to, how we want
39:29to operate as a football team.
39:31Tyler Warren was a great choice for what we needed and he's a great big target.
39:35He's an amazing route runner.
39:36And I think we just have to keep putting those pieces in.
39:40And obviously there are things like today, we've had some injuries already that, but
39:45then I think part of the best process is, all right, so what next?
39:49So what?
39:50Like, these are resources we have and we have to make it work.
39:53Interception by Daniel Scott.
39:55Now there is a flag down on the play.
39:59This was setting up to be a potential long field goal.
40:01Colts have a turnover, but again, this has been a game filled with penalties.
40:05Is this one going against the Colts?
40:07And unfortunately, I think it just might.
40:11Daniel, again, it's a great story.
40:12The fact that he's been injured the last two years, didn't make it to training camp last
40:16couple of seasons, makes the great play.
40:18But by all accounts, this one's going to come back.
40:26So with that, it will be a first.
40:28Down on the drive continues for the Packers.
40:30Again, Carly Ursae-Gordon, owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts, kind of have to join
40:33us here in terms of our third quarter of our broadcast booth.
40:36Carly, how do you envision your role of working with Chris and Shane during the course of the
40:40season?
40:41So I think we are so grateful to have Chris and Shane because I think Rick can probably
40:48speak to this.
40:49If you're a head coach and you don't get along with your general manager and you don't
40:54trust them, it's a total nightmare.
40:56So I think the great thing about Chris and Shane is they don't always agree, but they
41:03discuss it.
41:06And I think they make better decisions because they each have a unique kind of approach that
41:11I think makes us better as a whole.
41:13You can break the ties if you have to.
41:16Well, it's more like a question.
41:18It's more like, I'll stay in my lane.
41:22But it's more like, is this the way we should do this?
41:25Yeah, well, the ultimate question seemingly for this football team right now is Anthony
41:31Richardson or Daniel Jones, a quarterback.
41:34I know that Shane will make that call in coming days.
41:36Just your thoughts as to what you have seen from those two individuals in this competition
41:41all offseason and training camp long.
41:43Yes, it's the it's the very expensive question, I think, that everyone's wondering about.
41:49And I think the best thing this is one of the best camps we've had in a in quite a long
41:54time.
41:54And I think one of the things that we talked about in June was there's nothing that like
42:00makes the thing the good things rise to the surface better than competition.
42:06And I think having Daniel in here with Anthony, he's, you know, he's obviously had more experience
42:11than Anthony.
42:12But I think that room as a whole, they, you know, they're competing in camp, but they
42:17are, you know, they've each done things well.
42:20They've also made mistakes.
42:22So, again, it's Shane is going to have a tough decision to make.
42:27But I feel confident he's going to make the right decision.
42:30I got to ask you this, because we, you know, we exhaust the quarterback thing.
42:36And one of the things I think that kind of got lost and overshadowed because of it is,
42:41you know, our defense slipped to 29th last year, slipped down to 29th.
42:46And of course, this is my wheelhouse.
42:47So I've got to ask the question.
42:49You've been in the room with all the different coordinators.
42:52And now we bring in a guy who I really like.
42:56What do you think?
42:57What can you tell the fans that they can expect differently from Lou and what his effect will
43:04be on this defense?
43:06So Lou, you know, it's funny when we had our kickoff luncheon with Tony, because Tony got
43:12let go in the early 2000s.
43:15And I remember asking my dad, why did they fire him?
43:17He was in the playoffs.
43:18And it's like, I think the same thing with Lou, sometimes teams make a decision and it's
43:24Cincinnati's loss and it's our game.
43:26But he's, you know, our players are playing fast, they're playing physical.
43:31He really, one of the things I love is you'll notice them on, from the front to the back end,
43:40they're all communicating and they're, you know, talking to each other more.
43:44And I think that a lot of times, as you would know, is when you're a coordinator, I said
43:49you can scheme up something brilliant.
43:51But if the players don't understand what their role is, you don't explain what they're supposed
43:55to do.
43:56I mean, even down to, I mean, like you see Layoutu, I mean, he's, we've got all these,
44:02we're setting better edges, we're playing more aggressive.
44:04Um, and I always think a great sign is when it has to be player coach led as far as holding
44:12accountability and the players, you know, are really responding.
44:16I think they really respect Lou because he's, he will not, he will, um, correct you if you
44:23are, but I think it's, I think most players, they really want to be coached and they want
44:28to, but they want to be coached consistently.
44:30And if they, then it helps them not make mistakes and it helps them look good.
44:37All right.
44:37So touched out for the Green Bay Packers.
44:39We're going to let Carly get back to the sideline coming up here in a matter of moments.
44:44Actomy is on for the extra point try.
44:48Whelan as the holder.
44:49And this is now a three point game.
44:52Carly, we wish you and your sisters nothing but the best.
44:55Thank you so much for joining us and enjoy the view back from the sidelines for the rest
44:58of the game.
45:00Carly Ursa, Gordon, again, the owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts kind of join us
45:04in the broadcast booth.
45:0613-10 is the score.
45:07Colts lead 419 to play in the third quarter.
45:30So the last 10 points belong to the Green Bay Packers.
45:44Again, Colts 1s did their job in half number one.
45:49A lengthy drive.
45:51We'll tell you about it in a matter of moments.
45:52This is Coleman Owen out of Ohio, by the way, of Northern Arizona.
45:57He has flashed at times in camp and dives forward out to about the 35-yard line.
46:03Time for the Citizens Energy Group scoring recap.
46:0614 plays, 80 yards and nine minutes and two seconds off the clock.
46:12Again, Abanaconda with the three-yard carry.
46:17Gives the Packers their first touchdown of the game.
46:20Yeah, you're exactly right about Owen.
46:22He's actually had a very, very good camp.
46:26And I think he's a kid that's capable of playing that slot kind of in the Welker type, you know,
46:32type variety.
46:35Leonard in for his second drive.
46:37Catch is made.
46:39And that's good for a first down.
46:41And, again, it's another play made by Will Mallory.
46:43Yeah, and I will say this for all three of our quarterbacks.
46:46All three of our quarterbacks are very, very elusive.
46:50They're athletic.
46:51They can avoid those kinds of pressures and make plays.
46:55The other thing I like about them, you don't really have to change the offense no matter who's in the game.
47:01They can all run it.
47:02Treadwell, Owen, and Blaine Taylor are the three wide receivers in the game.
47:07Owen, the man in orbit motion.
47:10It's Bentley on the carry.
47:12And Ulysses Bentley the fourth picks up seven yards, the 47-yard line.
47:18He, you know, Ulysses is a banger.
47:20He runs a little bit of counter zone right here.
47:23And watch this acceleration coming through there.
47:26You know, he's kind of a guy that, you know, nobody really knows about.
47:30And his role may be practice squad.
47:33But he gives us some depth there.
47:34I like Ulysses.
47:37Played parts of six collegiate seasons.
47:42Did Ulysses?
47:48That's banging away right there.
47:50First down carry.
47:52Had seven carries for 35 yards last week against Baltimore.
47:55Career average of 5.5 yards per carry in his collegiate days.
47:59Travis is getting a full ball game now.
48:06And with that injury to Freeland, he becomes even more important as that swing tackle.
48:10Treadwell, the veteran who spent all of last year on the Colts practice squad, the man in motion.
48:22Leonard fires.
48:23And speaking of Treadwell, that's one he'd like to have back.
48:25That's a good throw under duress.
48:29He's come up limping a little bit.
48:31Leonard right there on that right leg.
48:33I mean, he's getting a lot of pressure.
48:35His offensive line needs to buckle up here a little bit.
48:38Treadwell appeared in two games last year.
48:43Elevator from the practice squad.
48:46His best season came to the Jaguars back in 2021 for Laquan.
48:50And 33 catches that season.
48:52And for a former number one, he's a good special teams player.
48:56Bentley out of the backfield.
48:58He'll dive forward.
49:01Flag thrown late.
49:05As it is spotted now, just shy of a first down marker.
49:08But penalties have certainly had an impact on this game.
49:11Let's see what this one is going to be called.
49:13Holding.
49:14Offense.
49:15Ten-yard penalty.
49:16Second down.
49:22Eight penalties now for 80 yards marked off against the Colts.
49:32Mallory going to be the guilty party in that scenario.
49:34It's really touchy, but he did get that arm outside the box.
49:40And once you do that, you're probably going to get a rag.
49:45So second and 12.
49:50Leonard.
49:52And Mallory couldn't hang on to it.
49:54Ball was tipped in the line of scrimmage.
49:56Did a great job to adjust to it, did Mallory.
49:58Just couldn't hang on to it.
50:00Yeah.
50:01Welch in coverage for Green Bay.
50:04That was the right decision.
50:05Just got a hand on it.
50:08Yeah.
50:09That's Randolph that tipped that ball for the Packers.
50:11And ended up back-hipping him.
50:16And Mallory played more as a rookie in 23 than it did last year.
50:19But seemingly the math is kind of leading towards four tight ends on the Colts roster to start the fall.
50:27Obviously injuries could play a factor in that.
50:30Yeah.
50:30And I think you're pretty well set.
50:32But you know what?
