00:00105.1 The Bounce, it's the All New Morning Rollout with Leisha B and Clay.
00:04And today we've got some special people in the building with us
00:07because they go by Magic Splash Kids.
00:10We've got Cartier and Shahai.
00:12How are you doing?
00:13Good, how are you guys?
00:14I'm doing fantastic.
00:16Thank you both for coming in and talking about everything with the Magic Splash Kids
00:20because this story, I think people are going to be blown away when they learn more about it.
00:24Exactly, because you guys are busy kids.
00:26So just explain to us what Magic Splash Kids is.
00:29So basically, me and my brother Shahai started off with a stand.
00:34And then after the stand, we got big and everybody liked us.
00:39So we wanted to move around.
00:41So we built our own truck that me and my brother could drive.
00:47So yeah, it's a miniature ice cream truck.
00:49And we sell a whole bunch of stuff.
00:51Our signature lemonade are very, very good.
00:55We have apple pie jars.
00:57We have literally almost everything.
01:00You could think of backpacks, literally everything.
01:05We have pet supplies, stuff for kids, babies, a whole bunch of stuff.
01:12Come on, hustlers.
01:12I know.
01:13So when did you decide, hey, we outgrew the stand.
01:16We need a truck.
01:16We need to drive around here.
01:18So we started, I think we stayed for like one summer with the stand.
01:22And then next summer, we were like, okay, so how is it going to do if we move around?
01:26Because we never see no kids move around with an ice cream truck, a miniature one.
01:33And so we thought it would have been a good idea.
01:35And everybody would show some love and support with us.
01:39I love that.
01:39So what made you want to start a business with your brother?
01:43Like what was that catalyst for you?
01:45I just remember me and my brother sitting down playing toys.
01:48And I asked him if he wanted to.
01:51And he said, wait, really?
01:52And then we went in there and asked my mom.
01:54And she helped us start with us.
01:57Because we didn't have, me and my brother didn't have the money at the time because we didn't start the business yet.
02:02So we asked our mom if she could help us put toys as an idea and stuff like that.
02:06And she was like, sure, I don't care.
02:08And then so we got, she bought the stand.
02:11We went to the front of the house.
02:14We went to the front of the house with the stand before we went to the end of the block.
02:19Then we, then at the front of the house, nobody really seen us because we were at the front of the house and we stayed on the block.
02:27So we really had neighbor support.
02:29And then I was like, come on, you guys want to go to the end of the block?
02:32And we went to the end of the block and we made a lot of money.
02:35And so I really think, yeah.
02:37And I really want to start, because this summer we did like all of our, like our, our events have been in Michigan, like all over Michigan.
02:48I really want to go out of state next summer.
02:50It's a growing business.
02:53So what is your favorite part about doing all this?
02:56I mean, just hanging out with your brother or sampling the lemonade?
02:59Like what, what's your favorite part?
03:01Hanging out with my brother.
03:02Like, oh, I love that.
03:03That's good stuff.
03:04Yeah.
03:06If I couldn't, I couldn't have did none of this without my mom, Monique Battle.
03:10Shout out to Monique, because first, first of all, the fact that she not only gave you guys the money, but has supported you guys through it all has been incredible.
03:18And the fact that you're even talking about expanding it past Michigan, like clearly that's your mom helping you with that.
03:24You, like you said, you wouldn't have been able to do any of it without her.
03:27Yep.
03:27And now we, we just started this, this summer, next summer and all these other summers, we're going to be hosting like birthday parties for the kids.
03:36Um, we're going to have a lot of kids.
03:39Don't you love it when two kids themselves are like, Hey, we're trying to help out the kids.
03:42That's no, that's great.
03:44I love it.
03:44Yeah.
03:45It's like cool to help out other kids and like show them.
03:48Cause a lot of kids out here aren't like the best acting and cause they want to follow after, after their friends.
03:55So they follow the bad, uh, examples, examples.
03:59Yeah.
03:59So I try to help my friends and I think I'm actually doing pretty good by it.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Has that any of your friends like come and worked for you and your brother?
04:08Uh, yeah, a couple of them have, but sometimes me and my brother keep it to just me and him.
04:14I get it.
04:15I get it.
04:16So you guys are, you're doing well, you're having fun, you're making money.
04:19Is there anything, Sahai, uh, is there anything either you two are really like saving up for that you want to buy with, with some of this money that you're getting?
04:27I'm not going to lie.
04:29I want to get a bigger truck too, as well.
04:31I love that.
04:32It's about the business.
04:34Yeah.
04:34I really want to get a bigger truck.
04:35So like, um, it just seems like it would be cool to have my mini truck and my big truck.
04:42I know.
04:42That's right.
04:43What about you, Sahai?
04:45Um, same as him.
04:47I love that.
04:48I really think like that should like, cause even if it's not a truck, it could be like one of them like trailer type.
04:55So that's what I think is a cool thing.
04:57And then I like to do a lot of vacation stuff.
05:01So I would spend some of it on that.
05:03How old are you again?
05:0413.
05:0530.
05:0533.
05:06Not 13.
05:07Come on now.
05:08Yeah.
05:08Okay.
05:08Speaking of vacation, where would you want to go then?
05:11Uh, I really want to go to the Bahamas.
05:13I really been wanting to go there.
05:15Stay with me here.
05:16Magic Splash boat in the Bahamas.
05:19Okay.
05:20Yeah.
05:20And then we sell the lemonade on the boat and all the other stuff.
05:23Let's go.
05:24Imagine that on the, on, after the Aretha shows on the Detroit river and y'all just passing out lemonade.
05:30That's lucrative.
05:32I better write that down.
05:33And I really want to, uh, well, I really like to give back to the homeless and the community and stuff because I feel like it's not always their fault that they're not in the best situation.
05:43But, but, so it really helps them because like, it's not, like I said, it's not always their fault.
05:50Sometimes stuff happens.
05:51Right.
05:51Everybody has their ups and downs, but they probably had their ups when they were younger and stuff, but then they probably fell down because they weren't thinking the best or like doing the best.
06:01Yeah.
06:01Because a lot of people fall down from their health issues and stuff.
06:05So that's really how they, like, when they get, say they're in the army and they get like disabled, it's hard for them to get back up and start working again.
06:12Cause they're hurt.
06:14Man.
06:14Wow.
06:15What was I doing at 13?
06:16Definitely not thinking of other people.
06:18No.
06:18Yeah.
06:19It's really, the people that really help me the most is my, my mom and my brother.
06:24Both of them are my favorite two people in the world.
06:27My heart.
06:28My mom don't got the best health issue or the health right now.
06:31So I'm trying my best to make sure everybody's doing good.
06:35I make sure my brother's good and he makes sure I'm good.
06:38I make sure my mom's good and she makes sure I'm good.
06:41I know.
06:41That's right.
06:42Come on family.
06:42It's really, it's, it's just us three.
06:45We just, we just keep it going.
06:47If when somebody's down, we each help each other get up.
06:51So that's right.
06:52When this movie comes out, can I just play like a B actor in it?
06:56I just want, I want my title to be like guy buying lemonade.
06:59That's what you're in the movie.
07:01That's okay.
07:01All right.
07:01That's all I'm looking for.
07:02We'll be extras for you.
07:04We actually got a song by G-Mac Cash too.
07:07I know that's right.
07:07Go on G-Mac.
07:08That's how you know you made it right there.
07:09I love G-Mac.
07:11That's crazy.
07:12Yeah, he sure did.
07:13He did his thing on that song too.
07:15I know that's right.
07:17That's so cool.
07:18So it sounds like things are going really well for you and you've got plans.
07:22If people want to get involved, they want to find out where you're at.
07:24They want to maybe even just help out the cause.
07:27What are the best ways to get a hold of you and do some of this?
07:29They could follow us on Instagram at Magic Splash Kids.
07:33And yeah, that's how they see where all of our events are, how we're doing, what we're
07:38doing, and a whole other type of stuff like that.
07:41And we'll be at the Fraser Fair, August 21st to the 25th, pretty sure that is.
07:48Okay.
07:48Something like that.
07:49Or the 24th, something like that.
07:50And last thing that I have for you, with Magic Splash Kids, and obviously you're very
07:56business-oriented, very family-oriented, where do you want to see Magic Splash Kids by, let's
08:02say, this time next year?
08:05Like I said, I really want to get a bigger truck.
08:08By next year?
08:09Yeah, by next year.
08:10I think we can do it, because we still got more events this summer before it's over.
08:16And it don't get cold until like November.
08:18That's true.
08:19It gets kind of chilly during October and stuff, but that don't stop us from making our money.
08:24All we got to do is put on a hoodie and make the money.
08:28And we can sell like the cider and donuts during the fall time.
08:33So that's what we usually do, and get all of our stuff going.
08:37I knew that's right.
08:38So hi, it's been hard to keep you quiet in this, so I'm just giving you one more chance.
08:44What's the best part about this?
08:45I mean, are you loving hanging out with your family and doing this?
08:49What's your favorite part?
08:51Like hanging out with my family and doing everything with them.
08:54And do they get to drive, do you get to drive the truck, the mini truck at all?
08:57Mm-hmm.
08:58Wait, what?
08:59He thinks he can drive better than me.
09:01I can.
09:03He thinks he can.
09:04He cannot.
09:04But yeah, that's really.
09:07Do you guys have any blueberry or raspberry or lemon allergies?
09:13No.
09:14I do not.
09:14Would you guys like to try?
09:16Yeah.
09:16Why not?
09:17We forgot the straws.
09:18No worries.
09:19We'll work it out.
09:20Let's see here.
09:21Oh, no, that's good.
09:26Let me try.
09:28Oh, it's filled to the top.
09:29Right.
09:29See, they're not trying to chance you at all.
09:31Mm-hmm.
09:34Oh, yes.
09:34I like that because it's not too sweet.
09:36Mm-mm.
09:36I like that.
09:37It got the tang and then the sweet part.
09:41You got a secret recipe or something?
09:43Yeah.
09:43Nobody.
09:43You can't tell it?
09:44No.
09:45It's okay.
09:46I felt like I had to ask, though, you know?
09:48Yeah.
09:49Hey, both of you guys, thank you so much for coming in and so much success in the future.
09:54Yeah, we have so many flavors, all the way from original to Fruity Pebble.
10:01Fruity Pebble.
10:02Get on it.
10:02That's right.
10:04Yep, it is.
10:05And it's one of our best sellers.
10:06When they hear that, they're like, oh, yeah, I have to try that.
10:10So, yeah, that's probably our biggest seller.
10:12And we actually have these new, at the Frasier Fair, we're going to be selling these new
10:17light bulb bottles, and they actually light up.
10:21Oh, very cool.
10:22So, it's really, really cool.
10:23Ah.
10:24So, Frasier Fair, you can check it out there or at Instagram, at Magic Splash Kids.
10:29Yes, and they can see wherever we're having our next event because we're going to be having
10:33a lot of events during the winter.
10:35They're going to be indoors because it's too cold to be sitting out.
10:38Right.
10:39Especially with just your hoodie.
10:40Yeah.
10:40Yeah, especially, boy, I got to put on two hoodies and a coat.
10:45It's too cold to be sitting out there in the cold.
10:48I understand that.
10:49Well, thank you, Cartier, and thank you, Shahi, for being here.
10:52Yes.
10:53Thank you guys for having me.
10:55No problem.
10:56I really appreciate it because we've been on Channel 4, and we were just on another radio
11:02station back there in Muskegon, 103.7 mile.
11:06Yep, that's what it is right there.
11:07Nice.
11:08Well, thank you, God.
11:11Thank you so much for having us.
11:12I really appreciate it.
11:14Mm-hmm.
