00:00So why don't we switch over to the Central right now and talk about those Milwaukee Brewers, 72-44, the best record in Major League Baseball.
00:06Eight straight victories here, winners of nine of their past ten games.
00:10Now a five-game lead over the Cubs.
00:11This was supposed to be the Cubs' division, Tom, where they run away with it.
00:14They have a couple games.
00:15Ah, Milwaukee stinks, and the Reds aren't going to do much.
00:17The Cardinals will fall back, and there's always the Pittsburgh Pirates.
00:20And here are the Brewers staking their claim as, yep, we're Christian Yelich, and we're a lot more than that.
00:24We win damn near every day.
00:26I think it was last week specifically when Mizorowski was scratched on Sunday.
00:33They were at the Nationals, and that was coming off the heels on either Friday or Saturday where Jackson Churio was placed on the I.L.,
00:41where I said, like, this is a big time for the Brewers.
00:43Like, this is time, you know, Robert meets the road.
00:45They've got to prove it right now.
00:46You know, you're missing arguably their best hitter or one of their best hitters, their young ace.
00:49I'm not going to say he's their best pitcher.
00:51And what have they done since then?
00:52They've won this entire week since last Sunday when they have players stepping up.
00:56They're getting timely hitting.
00:57They're getting big home runs at times.
00:58They're getting good pitching when they need it.
01:00And they have secured a solid lead in the NL Central.
01:05Fantastic stuff from the Brewers.
01:06And if you're not looking to back them in some capacity, I don't know what you're doing at this point.
01:11Yeah, it's just we're done the point of it's like, oh, they're a fun team.
01:15They're a nice team, but eventually they'll go away.
01:16They've had months to go away, and they're still extending their lead now over the Chicago Cubs.
01:20I find it fascinating to watch it play out, and how much of a player can they actually be once we get to the month of October?
01:25We'll certainly see that.
01:26Let's head out to the NL West, which is always going to be fun.
01:29The Dodgers, the Padres, the Giants, the Diamondbacks, and the Rockies.
01:32If you want bad pitchers, you got them.
01:33If you want great hitters, you got them.
01:34Everything you have is encapsulated right here in the West.
01:37And that means the Dodgers have a three-game lead right now.
01:39Winners have two straight games, six and four of their past ten.
01:41But the Padres, right on their heels, Tom, three games back, seven and three in their last ten.
01:46The question is going to be, is do the Dodgers have enough in the tank to cross that finish line first?
01:50The odds market will tell you, absolutely they do, because they are a heavy favorite.
01:54But they're getting pressure now from the San Diego Padres.
01:57They are.
01:57The one thing I've been worried about for the Dodgers, as everyone across baseball has been talking about, is their health.
02:02And, you know, Blake Snell comes back.
02:04He looked good last night.
02:04He was obviously back last week against the Rays.
02:06And, you know, gave him a couple home runs against the Rays last week.
02:09But he had piled up strikeouts.
02:11Max Muncy is now back.
02:12Like, they're starting to get the pieces together, the balls, you know, finally starting to get rolling.
02:17Because that's what we're waiting for.
02:18We're waiting for Glass now.
02:19We're waiting for Snell.
02:20We're waiting for Max Muncy.
02:21You know, Tommy Edmund is now on the IL.
02:23But I think they're getting the ball rolling.
02:25And it's the kind of thing where, like, they will reach their peak as the end of September rolls around.
02:30And even all the struggles that Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have had throughout the year,
02:34if they're peaking at the right time, that's all that matters.
02:37And I don't know how many teams can beat him when it's all said and done.
02:39How about a team in this division, Tom, with a run differential of minus 322.
02:46And we're in the beginning of August.
02:47That's the Colorado Rockies.
02:49I'm going to tell you right now, I don't care who's in the lineup for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
02:52They're probably going to hit again today.
02:54And by the way, sneaky Colorado Rockies on a day-to-day basis where they do rack up some RBI and some runs here.
02:58So, shout out them still trying as they sit 37 and a half games back of the Dodgers in the NL West race here.
03:05But it's a Dodgers division.
03:06It's always been that way.
03:07And they're priced that way as well.
03:08We'll see if they can hold up the Padres.
03:10And if you get maybe a spoiler down the stretch, possibly in the Giants, as we talked about,
03:14maybe chasing down a wild card spot because some of those teams struggling ahead of them.
03:17We'll find out.
