00:00Every team is kind of close, but one team that we know is in the postseason, or going to be
00:04in the postseason, and they're playing great baseball, that would be the Milwaukee Brewers, Tom.
00:08And to me, a lot of folks are dialing this back to years ago when the Brewers got C.C.
00:15Sabathia in a trade with Cleveland, and he ended up surging that team to the postseason.
00:20I think he won the Cy Young Award that year. Scooble's name has come up. Mason Miller's name has come
00:27up. The Padres are not trading anybody, by the way, right now.
00:30They're clobbering the Marlins this weekend. I'm watching it happen in real time. I think the Padres are right back
00:34in this.
00:35In fact, they've moved ahead in terms of playoff odds ahead of Miami and ahead of Washington, so forget that.
00:40I think Miller's staying.
00:41So, what do you make of the Brewers here? Because I think, currently constructed, they're a very good team that's
00:48going to make the playoffs and maybe even win a playoff series.
00:51But for them to have any shot of beating the Dodgers, and Tom, I'll even take a step back, for
00:56them to really be a favorite in winning a second-round series, like a DLS-type series,
01:03they're going to probably need to do more, because there's going to be teams that are going to do more,
01:07like Atlanta, like Philadelphia, like L.A.
01:11Here's the thing I keep saying about the Brewers. If they could go out and make one big acquisition, it
01:15shouldn't be a pitcher.
01:17This is the bottom portion of their projected lineup, at least for today. This is just trying to make a
01:22clear point.
01:23Garrett Mitchell, Gary Sanchez, Luis Lara, Cooper Pratt, Joey Ortiz. Is that a lineup, that bottom portion of the lineup
01:30that's going to compete with the Dodgers in the postseason?
01:32The pitching has never been the issue for the Brewers. So, the rumor that they want to go out there
01:37and get Scoble,
01:38yes, he's an awesome player. Yes, he's a difference maker. We know that. That's great when it's all said and
01:44done.
01:45But they need a hitter. They need a hitter that's going to truly help them compete, because, again, as I
01:49always say,
01:50it's about building a lineup that can compete with the Dodgers. It's not about trying to be the best in
01:54the MLB.
01:55It's about trying to be a lineup that can compete with the Dodgers. I think they have the pitching.
01:59I think they can manage a pitching series against the Dodgers. They don't have enough hitting to do so.
02:04Stop worrying about Scoble, trying to get a big-name bat in the lineup. That will be the game-changer.
02:08And, by the way, if the Brewers played the Dodgers in the NLCS and lost, it would still be a
02:13really good season for the Brewers.
02:15My concern would be a first-round series. Milwaukee just gets handed to it by another team, like a wild
02:21-card team of some kind.
02:22And it's possible, because that's just kind of how the Brewers are, kind of like how the Guardians,
02:26Tampa Bay, the lower payroll teams, they just get outbought sometimes at the trade deadline.
