00:00A 30-second card é up.
00:02Shimoda, o 1-rider,
00:04keeping um pouco de heat
00:05deegan no campeonato.
00:06Ele tem dois de três três primeiros.
00:09Deegan tem uma moto earlier.
00:10Agora, moto 2 está em frente.
00:15E deegan
00:16está a ver a drop
00:18deimidação e o resto.
00:20E ele tem um um shot de moto 2.
00:23Bial está em segundo.
00:25Sim, a melhor start de Tom Bial.
00:27Joe Shimoda.
00:28Oh, that was flying.
00:29Which one of the Monster Star Yamaha riders
00:31was that?
00:31I think that might have been Moseman.
00:33Yes, it was.
00:34Goes from third
00:35to probably 40th.
00:38I hope he's okay.
00:39Yeah, I don't know if he got hit
00:40by the handlebar,
00:41but hey, Deegan,
00:42this is exactly where you want to be
00:43in front of Joe Shimoda.
00:44Joe's going to have to make short work
00:46if he's going to have to go out there
00:47to number one,
00:48especially after that first moto.
00:50But yeah, that was Moseman
00:51that went down.
00:52Yeah, only rider on that team
00:53that runs the neck brace.
00:54That was Moseman,
00:55and you got Harrop with a good start,
00:57and Hamaker.
00:58Here is the battle right now,
01:00and it is Shimoda
01:01taking it from Bial.
01:03Yeah, nice move by Joe.
01:04He knew those lines
01:04were going to play out,
01:05and Tom didn't shut him off.
01:06He was going to be able
01:07to go up the inside.
01:08So for him,
01:09he's got to go to work.
01:11You saw how good Hayden's lines
01:12were in that first moto,
01:13so Joe probably went back,
01:14watched some video,
01:15talked to Lars,
01:16and said he got to switch it up.
01:17Now he's going to have to have the pace
01:18because he had it in that first moto.
01:20Yeah, although Deegan caught him,
01:23you thought that Shimoda
01:24had something.
01:24It was just lines.
01:25Well, Joe was the fastest.
01:27He was only one in a 204.
01:28Hayden was a 205,
01:29so he has the pace,
01:30but it worked out.
01:31Hayden adapted better.
01:33Joe's giving him a run here
01:34on lap one
01:35as they head to the highest speed
01:38section of the track
01:38coming up here.
01:41Yeah, you can tell Joe
01:42he wants some action.
01:43Right now,
01:45I think Hayden's probably
01:46understanding Joe's there.
01:48Don't worry too much.
01:50Just don't make a mistake here
01:51early in the moto.
01:55Got more shadows in that section.
01:57And Vial going to run with him
01:58here as well on lap one.
02:00Shimoda throwing everything at Deegan.
02:04Yeah, I think Hayden's
02:05being really patient.
02:07Right now,
02:07trying not to do it.
02:08He's going to hit this jump.
02:09Sinden.
02:11Katie, what do you see?
02:12Yeah, well,
02:13actually, just talking
02:14to Ben Griffith,
02:14Joe Shimoda's mechanic,
02:16I said,
02:16how did he feel
02:17after that first moto?
02:18He said,
02:18totally fine.
02:19He liked the bike.
02:20He said,
02:20the problem was
02:21is Joe didn't adapt
02:22to the track fast enough,
02:24well enough,
02:25where Hayden was faster
02:26and smarter
02:27in moto number one.
02:28And if that's the way
02:29Hayden was in moto number one,
02:30Joe hasn't worked that out for us.
02:32Yeah, but to Joe's,
02:33you know,
02:34to help Joe out,
02:34he wouldn't know, you know?
02:36So he's out front.
02:37Hayden had to adapt
02:38because he was getting
02:39pulled away.
02:40So it'd be hard for Joe
02:41to know where Hayden
02:42would be better
02:43or change his lines
02:43because you're like,
02:44I'm pulling away
02:44from this guy.
02:46But good to see Joe,
02:47as I mentioned,
02:47his attitude
02:48would be the right person
02:49to come back out here
02:50and fight Hayden,
02:51not be too demoralized
02:52after that,
02:53and you can see it.
02:55Just saw Moseman come through.
02:56He's back on the bike
02:57after that early crash.
02:58You've got Vial,
02:59Harrop,
03:00DeFrancisco
03:01has moved around
03:01Hamaker to fifth
03:02as Shimoda continues
03:04to zero in
03:05on Deegan.
03:07It almost seems
03:07this way this track
03:08is playing out
03:08just like the 450.
03:09It might be better
03:10to be in second
03:11right now
03:13compared to leading it.
03:14Seems like the guy
03:14in second
03:15can follow the guy's
03:16lines in front of him
03:17and see him
03:18where it works out at
03:19and then try to attack
03:21because Joe's staying there.
03:22His lines are better
03:23so far right now.
03:28Good fight
03:29for the lead early
03:29here at Moto2.
03:32And again,
03:32the points are so critical.
03:34Deegan is right
03:35on the edge
03:35of being in position
03:36to wrap the title up
03:37early next week
03:38at Unadilla.
03:40The 51-point lead
03:41that he has right now.
03:43If it ends like this,
03:44if his moto ends like this,
03:46that'd be enough
03:46to wrap it up
03:47if he had a lead
03:47like that
03:48at the end
03:48of next weekend.
03:51Shimoda could
03:51cross him back here
03:52though.
03:54Yeah, Joe.
03:55Nice shot from the drone.
03:56Joe has some really
03:57good lines,
03:58especially his lat section.
04:00Track's definitely
04:00drawn out more,
04:02so, uh-oh.
04:04A bummer for Jalee.
04:05Jalee swole out of this one.
04:08Had some good motos going.
04:10Strong early in Moto1.
04:12Wasn't able to carry it
04:13to the end.
04:14Oh, that line did not
04:15work for Joe.
04:16Yeah, I think he was gonna,
04:18uh, I think he went outside
04:19to set up to hit that triple,
04:21but he missed it.
04:23Hayden sensed that he was.
04:25Joe went to the inside
04:26that last lap,
04:26and now look at the gap.
04:27How about that?
04:30Deegan ends up going
04:31inside gaining.
04:31He was outside
04:32from the first lap gaining.
04:33so it worked out
04:34for Deegan both times there.
04:37Yeah, and that's just
04:38smart about Hayden.
04:39Being aware,
04:39you can hear the guy
04:40behind you,
04:41so just kind of knowing,
04:42okay, that got closed in.
04:43I can hear his bike
04:44a lot louder
04:44in this section.
04:45I'm gonna switch up my line.
04:47That's adapting.
04:48I don't know if that was a fast
04:55lap,
04:55but it was definitely
04:56a lot smoother.
04:57He's had a couple
04:58of smooth ones.
04:59Yeah.
05:01Can he get Deegan
05:02back into sight?
05:03See the Yamaha
05:04starting to get away,
05:05and Vial still lurking.
05:07Yeah, that one section
05:11really got Joe.
05:13Hayden got that gap,
05:15and this next lap
05:16is going to be
05:16very important for him.
05:18Yeah, is this that toe?
05:20He cannot lose this.
05:21Yeah, but it's just
05:22been weird all year.
05:23Joe's been like the only
05:24rider that can't lose
05:25that toe,
05:26but he just stays there.
05:27Like, Hayden knows
05:28he's gonna be there.
05:29If he's just faster,
05:30he'll just eventually
05:31pull away,
05:31but Joe's not the type
05:34of rider that Hayden
05:34pulls away,
05:35then all of a sudden
05:35he starts running
05:36two, three seconds slower.
05:38He'll just continue
05:38with that pace.
05:40Just might not have
05:41to be able to see
05:41where Hayden's better at.
05:43Might be tough for him.
05:46Yeah, so he doesn't get,
05:47kind of like you said
05:48as we see Vial here
05:49in third,
05:50at the end of that
05:50first moto,
05:51Joe just doesn't get
05:51demoralized in the same way.
05:53Yeah, I just feel like
05:54with Joe,
05:55I mean, the first moto,
05:55he needed to be able
05:56to see Hayden's line,
05:57but some riders need
05:59guys in front of them
05:59to get towed.
06:00You know, always laugh,
06:01about that.
06:01Some guys are like,
06:02I want a better start.
06:03Well, you put him out front,
06:04they don't know what to do.
06:05They're better towing
06:06where Joe doesn't need
06:07that rabbit.
06:08Whatever his pace is
06:09and how comfortable,
06:09that's where he's gonna go.
06:10So whether he has the pace
06:12to catch Hayden,
06:13that's gonna be all up to him,
06:15but he's not gonna just
06:16drop off three or four seconds
06:17because he doesn't see Hayden.
06:18He'll keep going
06:19as we're watching.
06:20Hey, it's March Banks
06:21with a,
06:21can I constate,
06:22is his decent start?
06:23He's sixth early.
06:25I don't know where he was
06:25on lap one,
06:26but certainly better than usual.
06:28And seventh, yes,
06:30he started at the top
06:31of 10.
06:32Well done, Garrett.
06:33Let's see what he can do with it.
06:34He probably don't know
06:35what to do with it right now.
06:36It's like normally
06:37in this position,
06:38about 10 minutes later.
06:40You see the overall
06:41if it ended like this,
06:42it'd be Vial third,
06:43Shimoda second,
06:44and Deegan with the win.
06:46Harrop been riding
06:47so well this year
06:48on the triumph.
06:50And March Banks
06:51gonna put some pressure
06:52on him, Katie.
06:53Yeah, and I was talking
06:54to him about why
06:55back at Washougal
06:56and he had that podium,
06:57why that was such a pivotal
06:58point in his career.
06:59And he said,
07:00it's so rewarding,
07:01but it's also so motivating
07:02and confidence building,
07:04especially with the things
07:05that have happened
07:05in his past
07:06and trying to find a ride
07:07and making sure
07:08he solidifies the deal
07:09and just having those good
07:11small victories
07:12really helped put him
07:14on the map.
07:15He also said something
07:15that's very different
07:16and Stu,
07:17you can probably talk
07:17to this a bit more.
07:19He trains in California
07:20where it's really dry heat
07:21and he said coming in
07:23after qualifying today,
07:24I talked to him,
07:24he just looked like a wet dog
07:26and I was like,
07:26you're good, bro.
07:27And he was like,
07:28it is so hot.
07:30This humidity is killing me.
07:31And if you think about it,
07:32training, he's not used to that, right?
07:34He's used to the dry heat.
07:35How does that make an impact
07:36on someone like Garrett?
07:38Yeah, I mean, it does,
07:39but Garrett's one of the
07:40fitted riders out here,
07:41so yeah,
07:41it might be hot to him,
07:42but I don't think
07:43that's something
07:43that he's gonna fade too much.
07:45And you know,
07:46Washougal,
07:47the way he's riding
07:47the motorcycle,
07:48the way he kind of rides,
07:49reminds me of Travis Preston
07:51back in the day
07:51on the 125.
07:52Those long legs,
07:53sometimes they just run
07:53these outsides
07:54and they throw their legs out
07:55and they carry a lot of momentum
07:57and at Washougal, man,
07:59Garrett had such a good flow
08:00around that racetrack
08:01and just going on the outside
08:02where here,
08:03it's a little bit different.
08:04So I don't think
08:05he's feeling as comfortable
08:06today,
08:07even though he's,
08:07you know,
08:07trying to make his way
08:08up in the form,
08:09but yeah,
08:10it's gonna be a long day
08:11on fifth,
08:12excuse me.
08:13Got Ryder D in form.
08:14Yeah.
08:14What'd you say about
08:15outside lines?
08:16It's what he's working
08:17right here on harem.
08:18Yeah,
08:19the dry part of the racetrack.
08:23It's gonna be close.
08:25Oh,
08:25I thought one of them
08:26was going down.
08:28Just able to hold on
08:29to it is harem.
08:31Deegan,
08:31just showing you
08:32the leader there.
08:333.3 over Shimoda.
08:35We resume the battle.
08:36It's in harem
08:37and March base
08:37and yeah,
08:38shout out
08:38to DeFrancisco.
08:40Outside top 15
08:42in moto one
08:43and now running fourth
08:45with that rock star
08:45gas gas.
08:46Yeah,
08:47just shows you
08:47what a star does
08:48and he's gonna have
08:49a hard time
08:50because he's lost
08:51the toe to Tom
08:51so he can't see Tom.
08:53I think these two guys
08:54are probably start
08:55closing up on him
08:55just because he can't
08:56see that pace.
08:58Garrett's gonna go back
08:58out to McHale right here.
09:02And March Banks
09:02talked to him yesterday.
09:04It appears he has
09:05re-signed.
09:06He's got a deal
09:06to be back on
09:08Kawasaki next year
09:09because there wasn't
09:10a lot of room over there.
09:11Wasn't that the performances
09:12were not good enough
09:14to deserve a ride
09:14but they've got a lot
09:15of multi-year deals.
09:17Guys like McAdoo
09:18and Hamaker
09:18and Kitchen
09:19has re-signed
09:20but I believe
09:23he will be back
09:23with this team
09:24next year.
09:24I haven't seen anything
09:25officially posted
09:25by the team
09:26but it's the indicator
09:27that he gave me
09:28and why not?
09:30This guy's been
09:30riding great all summer.
09:31Yeah,
09:32especially if he ends
09:32up third
09:33in this championship.
09:35Shows you how
09:35many talented guys
09:37is coming up.
09:38Oh, again!
09:40Almost had the pass made
09:41and now his teammate
09:42Hamaker.
09:43Well, look at this.
09:44No surprise.
09:44We got four Kawasaki's
09:45in a row.
09:46This keeps happening
09:47this year.
09:48Flying information.
09:49March Banks, Hamaker,
09:50Kitchen, Drew Adams.
09:516-7-8-9.
09:54Good to see.
09:55Yep.
09:56Not enough!
09:58Going to try again
09:59around the outsides.
10:02He's really working.
10:03He should have it up here.
10:04Kelsman really stingy.
10:06Now this line,
10:07he's going to end up
10:08going outside off.
10:09Maybe he's going to try
10:10to go in the middle.
10:10Watch this line from Gary.
10:11He's going to come back,
10:12allow him to go down.
10:15Got it!
10:17Okay, so March Banks
10:26locks it down
10:28and he is not done, JT.
10:30I'm just watching
10:30this battle here.
10:31We don't often get
10:32to reference basketball,
10:33but I was kind of thinking
10:34these would be the big men
10:35of their individual teams.
10:37March Banks and Harp.
10:38You've got Hamakers
10:39and Jordan Smith
10:40who are shooting guards
10:41over there.
10:41These are your two centers,
10:43your power forwards,
10:44if you will,
10:44because they are large
10:45individuals to be riding
10:46250s, which you could look
10:48at, hey, it's a really big
10:49disadvantage at the moment,
10:50but long term, I think
10:52when they move up to 450s,
10:53it's really going to work
10:54out for them.
10:55Yeah, larger motocross terms.
10:56We're talking about maybe
10:576'1", 6'2", for these guys.
10:59And they're catching
11:00one of the little guys,
11:01which is Ryder D.
11:02Francesco.
11:03He'll be waiting and waiting
11:04and waiting for Ryder D
11:06to turn the speed
11:07that we have seen
11:08in qualifying
11:08at a couple of races
11:09into results.
11:11He's got a shot at it here,
11:12but March Banks
11:13wants none of that.
11:14Yeah, come call March Banks
11:15a diesel shack out here.
11:17Chris Paul better watch out
11:19if he goes up the inside of him.
11:22And, oh,
11:23keep Francesco fights back.
11:24Yeah, I'm going around
11:25outside, excuse me.
11:26Be around.
11:27Let's move by Garrett.
11:28And you said outsides
11:29are working for him.
11:30Yeah, just throw an anchor out.
11:32But it's good.
11:33I mean, he's really loose
11:34on the motorcycle.
11:35I talked about it at Washougal.
11:36Just his riding style,
11:37you know, doesn't really
11:38have a lot of stop and go.
11:39When he hits these bumps,
11:40almost like his body
11:41just gumbees somewhat.
11:43It absorbs and just keeps moving.
11:46And March Banks
11:46giving a lot of credit
11:47to Brock Tickle,
11:48former competitor out here
11:50who became his riding coach
11:51and trainer midway
11:53through the Supercross campaign.
11:55And he has been
11:55a completely different man
11:57ever since.
11:58Riding so well as March Banks.
12:00De Francesco has got
12:00all sorts of heat.
12:02It's going to be Harrop
12:03and now Kitchen.
12:06Yeah, I spoke to Levi
12:07yesterday and he said,
12:08man, I love this racetrack.
12:09But every time I come here,
12:10I have one good moto
12:11and one bad one.
12:12So that first moto,
12:13hopefully it was a bad one.
12:14Have another good one here.
12:16I'm sure he wants to rebound.
12:18Tough going down early
12:19in that moto, but...
12:22And up front,
12:23three and a half second lead
12:24over Deegan.
12:25True to form, like you said.
12:26It's just every lap
12:27another tenth or two.
12:28It's not huge chunks up front.
12:30Deegan pulling away.
12:32DeFrancisco holding off Harrop.
12:34Katie, what do you got?
12:35Now, going back to Levi
12:36Kitchen, what Stu was talking about,
12:37I talked to him also
12:38before the moto
12:39and he said,
12:39I know I'm fit.
12:41I know what I've got
12:41with the bike itself.
12:44But he said,
12:44something's been kicking my butt.
12:45I don't know if it's allergies.
12:47I don't know what it is.
12:48But he's been feeling it a little.
12:49He's been feeling a little
12:50under the weather here.
12:51Not as an excuse.
12:52He says he knows
12:53he needs to pull it together.
12:54But he does feel a little
12:57something that's not right.
12:59Yeah, well,
13:00that would obviously
13:00have an impact.
13:01He fell in the first moto,
13:03but there was plenty of time
13:04and was not able
13:05to make much happen.
13:06He ended up 14th.
13:08Much better here.
13:09It's just tough.
13:10But, you know,
13:10a guy like Levi,
13:11I mean, he came in
13:11with aspirations
13:12to win this title.
13:13So, you know,
13:14maybe not on the level
13:15where you're talking about
13:15Eli Tomac.
13:16It's either I'm winning the title
13:18or I don't really care
13:19to really be out here.
13:19But Levi wants to be battling
13:21with Joe Shemota,
13:22Hayden Deegan.
13:22So, I don't know how much
13:24these fifth places
13:25are willing to hit the ground
13:27and take that chance.
13:29Tough for him,
13:30but he's out here fighting.
13:32It's a great battle.
13:33Yeah, it is.
13:34And he's riding good.
13:39That was good right there.
13:40Yeah, he's starting
13:40to find the flow.
13:44I think these guys
13:45would be more used
13:45to this racetrack
13:46the way it is
13:47the second moto
13:47because it's dried out.
13:48This to me looks more
13:49like Ironman years past.
13:51That first moto
13:52was really sticky.
13:52here.
14:01Battles continue here.
14:02Ryder DeFrancisco,
14:03Mikkel Harrop,
14:04and Levi Kitchen
14:06all in one piece
14:07of real estate at once.
14:08Three-Ryder fight.
14:09This is for fifth.
14:11Yeah, we're talking
14:11about big man's,
14:12JT, McCall, Mikkel,
14:14you know, McKimbo,
14:15Tombo.
14:15No, no, no, no, no,
14:17the way he's going.
14:18Nice move up here.
14:19He's not letting
14:19anybody up the inside.
14:20Rejected.
14:23Here comes
14:23around the outside,
14:25Kitchen.
14:27And that's what
14:28this 250 class
14:29is all about, man.
14:30It's just relentless.
14:32Guys so deep
14:33in the field,
14:34still charging hard,
14:35and Kitchen
14:36takes the measure
14:37of DeFrancisco.
14:38Yeah, that line
14:38right there
14:39allows him to close.
14:39and all Mikkel
14:41right here.
14:41So for him,
14:43good confidence
14:44for Levi.
14:46Shout out
14:47to the Fly
14:47Racing Athletes
14:48wearing the gear
14:49there.
14:49That includes
14:49DeFrancisco.
14:50Just got pushed
14:51to sixth.
14:52Parker Ross,
14:52another run
14:53hovering around
14:54that top ten
14:54on the Bar X
14:55Toyota Redlands.
14:57Yamaha 11th.
14:58His teammate,
14:58Dylan Schwartz,
14:5928th.
15:01I can almost bet
15:01you that Schwartz
15:02will be better
15:02than that by the end
15:03of the moto.
15:03He always charges
15:04hard at the end.
15:05Kitchen,
15:05not done.
15:06He leaned it in there.
15:13He was trying
15:13to get that double.
15:15But you see
15:15how he's turning
15:16the bike down.
15:17He's starting
15:17to be a little bit
15:17more aggressive.
15:18Just a little bit
15:18of confidence
15:19being able
15:19to make that pass.
15:22Yeah,
15:22that's a little more
15:22of what we're used
15:23to seeing in the Kitchen.
15:24That style.
15:24Hey,
15:24we're halfway through.
15:26A reminder,
15:27Monster Energy
15:28available now.
15:31And keep watching
15:32this battle though.
15:34Harem
15:34versus Kitchen.
15:36Garrett,
15:39he got away
15:40from these guys.
15:41I think those guys
15:42were starting to battle
15:42and they were really
15:43slowing each other down.
15:44Maybe they didn't open up.
15:47Harem,
15:47fifth in points
15:48as I mentioned
15:48in moto one
15:49and fifth in this race.
15:51He has been
15:51quite the pleasant surprise.
15:54Again,
15:54wasn't even supposed
15:54to race this championship
15:55for triumph,
15:56but what a great move
15:57they decided
15:58to make
15:59by putting him here
16:00for the summer.
16:02And now here's
16:02some rumors
16:02that it might not be
16:03a one and done season.
16:05Back to the lead.
16:06Deegan
16:07and every lap
16:08putting about
16:09two, three tenths
16:10on Shimoda.
16:11That's it.
16:11But it's just enough.
16:13If you want to see
16:13more about Deegan
16:15and this team,
16:16you can get the
16:17inside look
16:18at Yamaha's
16:18factory-supported
16:19squads
16:19after every race.
16:21Go to
16:21at Yamaha Motor
16:22USA on YouTube
16:23and that is their show
16:24Beyond the Gate
16:25shows training
16:27during the week
16:27and what goes on
16:29on race day.
16:31Yeah,
16:31Hayden was able
16:31to open up
16:32the gap a little bit
16:33this lad's
16:34half of his lap,
16:36but Joe's been
16:37a little bit quicker
16:38than him.
16:38That gap's been
16:39staying pretty much
16:40the same.
16:41Tom the Out
16:41was actually
16:42the fastest guy
16:42on the track
16:42the last lap,
16:43but Joe's
16:45continued there.
16:46Now that gap
16:46goes down to 2.8.
16:47Hey,
16:48that's what you said.
16:49Joe wasn't going
16:50to give up.
16:51Joe never give up
16:52and he's there.
16:55Let's see if Hayden
16:55gets the word.
16:56Cross flags out now.
16:5813 plus 2 to go.
17:00There's the 30
17:01of Shimoda
17:01and Vial's hanging
17:03tough also.
17:04You see him lurking.
17:06Joe's digging.
17:06Yeah,
17:07now he's digging
17:07and he was the fastest
17:09guy over at 3 tenths,
17:10faster than Hayden,
17:11so Joe must have
17:12this part of the racetrack
17:13figured out
17:14before the finish line
17:15because that's where
17:16he's closing in on Hayden.
17:17Hayden might got
17:18the other part.
17:22We're going to see.
17:24Oh,
17:25I think this part
17:25Deegan has thrown it
17:26down and pulled back
17:28away.
17:28There is the 16 of Vial.
17:30Wow,
17:31it's wild how much
17:31closer they were
17:32just a few sections
17:34ago.
17:36Yeah,
17:36just certain parts
17:37like you said,
17:38Hayden's got this,
17:39but even with Tom Vial,
17:40like he can't see
17:41those guys.
17:41He knows they're there
17:42in a tough position,
17:44but coming back
17:45from an injury,
17:45this is what I thought
17:46we would see
17:47all year long
17:47from Tom,
17:48so it's been a tough
17:49motocross season,
17:49but good to see him
17:50back out here
17:51and give him some
17:52confidence to finish
17:53off these next two
17:53races before we move
17:54in the playoffs.
17:58Yeah,
17:58it's been a relatively
18:00disappointing summer
18:01for Vial,
18:01the two-time
18:02Mx2 champion,
18:04but getting it
18:06together here today
18:07and we brace
18:08for the second half
18:09for this moto.
18:16And just like that,
18:17Vial had it nearly
18:18in sight.
18:20Stretched it just a bit.
18:22Yeah,
18:23Tom's in that danger zone.
18:25Now,
18:25the next lap or so,
18:26he doesn't stay there
18:28or at least close in.
18:29He might lose the toe,
18:30but certain parts
18:31of the racetrack said
18:33it looked like it opened up,
18:34but then Joe closes in
18:35and the same thing
18:36the lap before,
18:37so just whether it's
18:38a mistake or not,
18:40allowing these guys
18:40to make up Tom, Katie.
18:42Yeah,
18:42it's good to have Tom Vial
18:43back on the bike,
18:44of course.
18:44He was telling me
18:45that during his break
18:46he actually went to Miami
18:47Beach Guy,
18:48he went to some concerts,
18:49he said it was really
18:50a lot of rest
18:51and relaxation
18:51and he said
18:52he actually needed it.
18:53That helped him
18:54kind of revitalize himself
18:55to feel fresh
18:56to finish out the season.
18:58I said,
18:58how comfortable are you
18:59on the bike right now?
19:00He said,
19:00well,
19:00we've been back and forth
19:01on some settings.
19:02It's not feeling the greatest,
19:04but it's good enough
19:04to be up front
19:05and we're definitely
19:06seeing a different Tom Vial
19:07than maybe we did here
19:08earlier in this season.
19:10Yeah, absolutely.
19:10I mean,
19:10during the break
19:11I actually went to a beach myself.
19:13Okay.
19:13So,
19:14not a beach person,
19:15so it seems like everybody
19:16went to the beach,
19:17but I don't feel like
19:17not doing what these guys
19:19are doing out here today.
19:21I saw some sand
19:22on some motocross tracks.
19:23It's about as close
19:23as I got during the break.
19:25Stretch run for everybody here,
19:26but this is a big improvement
19:28for Vial.
19:28Remember,
19:29this is his return
19:30from injury,
19:32crashed at Millville,
19:34missed Washougal,
19:35so a nice bounce back
19:36for the Frenchman.
19:37There are some rumors
19:38swirling that he might
19:39end up going back
19:40to MXGP next year.
19:43It certainly missed him
19:44if he does go back,
19:45but he made an impact
19:47in his three years
19:48here with two
19:49Supercross titles
19:50in 250 East.
19:52A little further back,
19:53Max Boland.
19:54This is just every darn moto.
19:55You'll find Boland
19:56right around that
19:57eighth place spot.
19:58Eighth of points
19:59coming into this race,
20:00and that is very impressive
20:01for that team
20:02that, again,
20:03they're getting bikes
20:04from Yamaha,
20:05but they don't have
20:05the full factory support.
20:06He's riding well
20:07and he's caught Harrop.
20:08Yeah, no, he's caught
20:08his two seconds lap,
20:09faster than his last lap.
20:12Kitchen got around
20:13Harrop as well,
20:14so...
20:15Max almost ran in the bag.
20:17I think he was trying
20:18to square him up
20:19so he could maybe
20:19do this to him.
20:21Oh, he almost did, James!
20:23He should have the end side.
20:24He just gets through this run.
20:25He'll have the pass made
20:27because his corner
20:27continues to turn.
20:29There you go.
20:30And Boland gets it done
20:32at sixth.
20:33Could be the season best
20:34for him if he holds on.
20:35No, Harrop wants none of that.
20:37Yeah, Max did a good job
20:38slowing down,
20:39making Harrop have to think
20:41and switch his lines.
20:42Good ride by Max.
20:44And we've told this story
20:45many times.
20:47Does not have the rear
20:48brake lever used
20:50with his foot
20:50like everyone else.
20:52Has to have a brake lever
20:53on the handlebars
20:53dating back to an injury
20:55from last year.
20:56Heard his hip.
20:57and the nerve damage
20:58doesn't have full feeling
20:59in his foot,
21:00so he has definitely
21:01changed the game there
21:03and riding darn solid
21:04this summer.
21:06Yeah, especially today.
21:07I mean, the way he's riding,
21:08you would wonder,
21:09he don't need a brake.
21:11It's great.
21:14Yeah, it's kind of
21:15been the story all year.
21:18Hey, got some news
21:19here for you.
21:20We know the SMX playoffs
21:21are coming up in September.

21:45and we'll give it
21:45on up to eight tickets.
21:47You can save up to $80
21:48per event.
21:49Talking my language
21:50right there.
21:51Yeah, can you handle this
21:52for a second
21:53so I can get this QR code
21:54going?
21:54Your two QR codes?
21:55People have been asking me
21:56playoffs tickets.
21:57I'm like, man,
21:58hey, it's expensive,
21:58but thank you very much.
21:59I love it.
22:00Thank you, Jake.
22:01Help your buddies.
22:02Absolutely.
22:03Save money, but yeah,
22:04it's only going to last
22:05in the next two weeks,
22:05so get it done now.
22:06Join us at North Carolina,
22:09St. Louis or Vegas,
22:11Bolin powering through
22:12up the second kitchen fifth.
22:17So let's see what Bolin
22:18can do here.
22:19Again, it would be
22:20the season best for him.
22:22That muck off FXR ClubMX team
22:24and they've been grinding
22:26down there.
22:27A lot of guys ride there,
22:28not just the team members.
22:29That's where Jorge Prado
22:30was riding for a lot
22:31of the summer
22:31and Lala Turner,
22:33who we just watched win
22:34the WMX overall.
22:36she rides with this group
22:37down there in South Carolina.
22:40Always elevating that facility
22:41and it's a good story brewing.
22:45Well, just like that,
22:47Deegan has pulled back away
22:49from Shimoda.
22:50Largest league of the race
22:51right now, 5.3.
22:52Yeah, well,
22:53Joe must have made a mistake
22:54this last half of the lap
22:55because he actually was the fast,
22:57he went three tenths faster
22:58in Deegan the last lap,
23:01so ooh, that was close by Hayden.
23:06So I'm thinking Joe
23:07by pushing it must have
23:09made a big mistake
23:09because he lost three seconds
23:10in the last half lap
23:11and it might be costly for him.
23:14Nice line choice
23:15by Deegan there,
23:16just finding,
23:17they're not outside
23:19of the track markers,
23:20but he is finding those edges.
23:22Just a few less bumps
23:24to deal with.
23:25Now he's got to deal
23:26with a lot of traffic.
23:27There's Brent Duffy,
23:27the mechanic.
23:297.9.
23:30Yeah, I don't know
23:31if it's that big,
23:32but hey, yeah,
23:33even Hayden,
23:34I don't think Hayden
23:34believed that.
23:35He had to look back
23:36himself.
23:37What?
23:37Yeah, normally as a rider,
23:39you wouldn't look back
23:40out there,
23:40mechanics tell you that
23:41when you just passed them,
23:42but he's like,
23:42hey, now you're talking
23:44about a nice line.
23:45That was a nice line
23:46by Hayden right there.
23:48Basically straightened
23:49that whole section up.
23:51You know,
23:51I talked to Brian,
23:53his dad about that
23:53back at High Point.
23:54I really feel like line choice
23:55is really one of the areas
23:56where Hayden excels
23:57and he's like,
23:57you know,
23:57I'm trying to teach him
23:59as much as I could,
24:00but he's like,
24:01I think that a lot of that
24:02either got it or you don't.
24:03Yeah, I would agree.
24:04I agree with Brian,
24:05and like I said,
24:06that first moto,
24:08that was a nice little move
24:09right there.
24:10Flat track.
24:10Yeah, you think about
24:11the riders who can adjust,
24:13you know,
24:13Jet Lawrence,
24:14you know, Hayden Deegan,
24:15they're figuring it out.
24:16That's why I was so impressed
24:17what he did that first moto
24:18because he wasn't faster.
24:20Joe had him cover.
24:21He adjusted,
24:22and it seems like the same thing
24:23has happened in this moto.
24:24He's figured out better lines.
24:25Joe was closing in,
24:27and he got it done.
24:27JT.
24:29Yeah, I 100% agree there, James,
24:30and it's like when the
24:31conventional lines go away,
24:34Hayden is able to kind of put
24:35the puzzle pieces together
24:36and figure out,
24:37okay, that line doesn't work
24:39anymore.
24:39How can I cut across there?
24:40How can I make this a straight
24:42line across so I don't have
24:43to slow down?
24:44He is so efficient
24:45when the main lines start
24:47to go away,
24:47and it's going to continue
24:48to serve him well
24:49as he moves to the 450
24:50next season.
24:51Well, and JT,
24:52one step further,
24:53you know, of course,
24:53like, he's doing what he's
24:54doing here in the 250 class,
24:55but a lot of that's going to
24:56translate to the 450,
24:57and, you know,
24:59I think that's one thing
25:00that that team's excited about,
25:02but before they get to that 450,
25:04I asked Brent Duffy,
25:05why is that announcement
25:06important right now
25:07for Hayden Deegan?
25:08Why is this kind of a game changer?
25:10And he said,
25:11well, because he has
25:12six more motos
25:13to stamp his legacy
25:14in the 250 motocross,
25:15and I'm challenging him
25:16this weekend to say,
25:18how do you want to leave
25:18your legacy
25:19in the 250 class?
25:20What do you want to do?
25:21What else can you get
25:22out of this 250 bike?
25:24So maybe with that
25:24little extra challenge
25:25by the team
25:26and his mechanic,
25:27that's also letting him
25:29be the rider he's being
25:30out on the track right now.
25:31Yeah, and I agree,
25:32and just looking at his lines,
25:34you know,
25:34the first moto,
25:36Joe had the half,
25:37beginning of half of the race,
25:39he had it figured out,
25:40and Hayden needed
25:40to figure it out,
25:41so it's easy
25:41to have to switch lines
25:42when you get pulled
25:43away from,
25:44but this moto,
25:45Hayden's out front,
25:46so for him to be able
25:47to switch in mid-moto
25:48and be like,
25:49okay, Joe's there,
25:50I've got to change it up
25:51because I'm not getting away,
25:53it's more impressive to me
25:54because a lot of guys,
25:55just like Joe,
25:56the difference is,
25:57Hayden's,
25:58he's still adapting
25:59even though he's leading,
26:00and that's hard to do.
26:01You're like,
26:01I'm leading the race,
26:02how much better can you get?
26:03Well, Hayden's doing that,
26:04and even that last section,
26:05him before the finish line,
26:07opening up that whole racetrack,
26:09and it makes it smoother,
26:10but it slingshots him,
26:12and it's a better advantage
26:14through the whole section
26:15through the next one,
26:15and that's just super
26:16impressive to me.
26:17being able to adapt like this,
26:18and I agree with Brian,
26:19either you got it or you don't,
26:21and the number one has it,
26:22for sure.
26:22No doubt,
26:23and he also has a 6.6 second lead,
26:26four minutes to go.
26:32Now, I think we've had
26:32this conversation before,
26:34yes, Deegan has a bit of a challenge
26:36from Shimoda
26:36the last couple of weeks.
26:38We talked about you in 2004,
26:39you're last year in this class,
26:40you were dominant,
26:41you won all but one moto.
26:42How much is Deegan
26:43trying to improve to beat Shimoda,
26:46and how much is he taking lessons
26:48now to use for next year?
26:50Well, I think he has to improve
26:52to continue, like I said,
26:53to beat Joe.
26:54Joe's no slouch.
26:55You know, Joe is riding really good,
26:57so he's making Hayden
26:59have to elevate his game.
27:00Where I feel like in 2004,
27:03I was 40 seconds,
27:04I'm like, all right,
27:05today I'm going to win by a minute.
27:06You know,
27:06so it's a different kind of motivation
27:08where I think Hayden
27:08has to focus up
27:10when we came on the show.
27:11It's not over.
27:12Joe's riding really good,
27:14and if Hayden didn't adapt
27:15and didn't change,
27:16he was going to get beat
27:17that first moto.
27:18If he didn't adapt,
27:19he was going to get beat this moto.
27:20So Joe's making him
27:22a better rider,
27:23but it's also confidence
27:24for Hayden to be able
27:25to adapt during moto.
27:26So a lot of good stuff going on,
27:28but that's how good
27:29these two riders are riding
27:30right now.
27:31Yeah, he doesn't need
27:31to find motivation.
27:32Shimoda's providing it.
27:34Here's the all-time
27:35overall winners in this class.
27:37Deegan is 12.
27:38If he wins today,
27:39and one more,
27:40he will be tied with,
27:41how about that?
27:42Jet Lawrence,
27:43also Blake Baggett,
27:44and Brock Glover,
27:44who's a three-time champion
27:45of this division.
27:47Look at the name of the top.
27:49Yeah, I mean,
27:50I'm just so far out of it,
27:51you know, me and Ricky here,
27:52but I'm sure Hayden
27:53probably realizes where Jet is.
27:55Probably one of his goals
27:56to at least get to that.
27:58So he's like,
27:59look, I already had you covered.
28:00I'm a better 250 rider
28:01than you were.
28:02Now I'm going to come up here
28:03and serve notice to you
28:04under 450.
28:04So see that line right there
28:06with Hayden?
28:07Now that hole straightaway,
28:08it got him straightened up,
28:09and it helps him throughout
28:10this whole part of the racetrack
28:11as well.
28:11So really impressive,
28:13but Joe's still doing
28:14what Joe does.
28:15He's continuing to fight,
28:16and I think this is going
28:17to help Hayden
28:17because Joe doesn't fall
28:19off the pace.
28:20He's going to push him
28:20to the end,
28:21and it's going to be good
28:23when these guys go up here.
28:24Hopefully Joe continues
28:24this next year as well.
28:26Well, yeah,
28:27that's the other part
28:27of the story.
28:28So with the Yamaha announcing
28:29that Deegan will race 450
28:31starting outdoors next year,
28:34he's going to race 250
28:35Supercross.
28:36I would imagine trying to defend
28:38in the same division
28:39that he won last year
28:41to run the number one plate.
28:41We'll see about that.
28:43But at this time next year,
28:45Deegan won't be in this class,
28:46so who's going to establish
28:47himself as the next title guy?
28:50Could be Shimoda.
28:51Could be the traditional
28:52frontrunners.
28:54You know, Kitchen has been
28:54good for years, for example,
28:56but there's always a young rider
28:58on the rise.
28:59Cole Davies.
29:00But I'm going to tell you,
29:00he comes back from his injuries.
29:02You know, Joe's been in this
29:03position a couple times
29:04where a guy's moved up
29:06and you thought he was going
29:06to be that next guy,
29:07but to me, Joe's a little bit
29:08different now.
29:09When Hayden has a bad star
29:11or something, Joe wins.
29:13You know, and I think
29:13that's the difference
29:14from the past.
29:15You know, you expect Joe
29:16to be there,
29:17but now he's clearly
29:18the second best guy
29:19when Hayden's not all
29:20and Joe's able to win
29:22and that's a lot of confidence
29:23moving forward.
29:23But, yeah, these young guys,
29:25they'll be better.
29:26Cole Davies is going to be up there
29:27if he comes back from injury.
29:28It's going to be fun to watch.
29:29Yeah, hoping to get Davies
29:30maybe back for one of these
29:31pro motocross races.
29:33Had that huge arm injury
29:35out in the Supercross finale
29:36which ended a real
29:38Cinderella rookie pro season
29:39for him there.
29:40Hopefully to get
29:41the New Zealander back.
29:43You know what?
29:44It's the perfect example.
29:45If you watch Shimoda right now,
29:46you think he's winning.
29:47I mean, he's riding so well.
29:49Yeah, no, Joe's riding
29:50really good,
29:50but even this line,
29:52what's cool is Hayden
29:53was losing the time
29:54to Joe.
29:55Joe had this part figured out.
29:56Now Hayden switched
29:57his lines up
29:57and you can see the difference.
29:59Joe wasn't as farther
30:00outside over that rhythm section
30:03and it just slows his momentum down.
30:05So a little bit of stuff
30:05that he'll go back and work on
30:06and I know if anybody will,
30:08it's Joe Shimoda.
30:09Got to have a lot of fight
30:10to be able to continue to do this.
30:12He was still looking,
30:13still looking over to Mark
30:14where Deegan is,
30:14even with a 10 second deficit.
30:17And that's, again,
30:19I said in the early part of race,
30:20Joe is going to continue
30:21riding as fast as Joe can go.
30:23So you're not going to break him.
30:26He's there.
30:28The outmarched banks kitchen.
30:30Top five.
30:31Drew Adams up to sixth.
30:32And the anniversary
30:34of his pro debut last year,
30:36the young rider out of Tennessee.
30:38Then he's made the move on Follin.
30:41Check back in with March Banks here.
30:43Solid fourth.
30:45He's going to end up overall today
30:48just going to be fourth.
30:50Just on the podium
30:50because D'Al just one tick better
30:52than both motos.
30:54There you see the scores.
30:58And it'll be Harrop.
31:00Drew Adams looking for sixth.
31:02Hayden Deegan powering down
31:08as the clock ticks away.
31:11It's expired.
31:13So now two and a half laps to go.
31:16But the rider originally
31:17out of Temecula, California,
31:19like so many others,
31:20made the pilgrimage.
31:21Now, Tallahassee, Florida
31:23is home for him.
31:26And that's where the work's put in.
31:27And he's especially good
31:30on these rough-rutted tracks.
31:34As for Adams,
31:35I mentioned sixth in the moto.
31:37He would actually be sixth overall
31:38for an inside this.
31:39That'd be a new career best for him.
31:41Checking in with Austin Forkner
31:42before the break
31:43was really showing some signs.
31:45Creeping back into the top ten.
31:47And riding 11th right now.
31:49He's in a battle with Nate Thrasher.
31:52But look at their improvement
31:53the last couple of weekends
31:54from Forkner.
31:55Yeah, Austin is riding really good
31:57and getting better
31:57all year long
32:00and, you know,
32:00talking to him a little bit.
32:01Sometimes he's still dealing
32:02with some injuries.
32:03So for him,
32:04sometimes these motos
32:06a little bit harder to hang on,
32:07but he's still fighting.
32:09Saw him make a last corner pass
32:11that first moto.
32:12Another bad start in the second one.
32:15Good to see Nate up here.
32:16Yeah, they were close
32:18to moto one battling again.
32:20That's the 250 class.
32:21Yeah.
32:22There's a battle out there somewhere.
32:23You know, and speaking of
32:24the young guys,
32:25you just mentioned
32:26Drew Adams getting sixth.
32:27Yeah.
32:27You know, last year
32:28he made his pro debut here.
32:29So it's not, you know,
32:31not surprising
32:32that he comes to a racetrack
32:33that he's familiar
32:34and he's showing some pace.
32:35He was able to get around
32:36Bolin and Mikhail
32:38and even his teammate
32:39handmakers.
32:41So next year
32:42he's going to be one of those guys
32:43that's more comfortable
32:44and looking at our screen,
32:46we got a battle
32:47for fourth place.
32:48Levi Kitchen has caught his teammate.
32:50Kitchen at Marchbanks
32:51just up ahead of this
32:52and Parker Ross, by the way,
32:54eighth.
32:54This guy has been
32:55just locking down
32:56top tens week in
32:57and week out.
32:58It's his first full season
32:59as a pro.
33:00Well done, Parker.
33:01Well done, Brasher.
33:03Keeping the heat
33:04on Fortner right now.
33:06Got the pristine auctions
33:08triumph versus
33:09the monster
33:09Yamaha Star Racing Machine.
33:11There's the teammates.
33:11There's Kitchen.
33:12There's Marchbanks.
33:14Yeah, Levi, I like this.
33:15A lot of fight for him.
33:16This second moto
33:18rebounding.
33:19Going to get his teammate
33:20right here.
33:21Got to always beat your teammate.
33:23Oh, that was slick.
33:24Kept the bike low to the ground
33:26on that single
33:27and just like that
33:28he's up to fourth.
33:30Yeah, and he's been working on it.
33:31I mean, they've been
33:32about four or five seconds
33:33ever since he got up
33:34into that fourth spot
33:35or fifth spot.
33:37So he stayed there,
33:38kept fighting, fighting.
33:39Finally got him.
33:41That's where it's going to end.
33:42Tom B. Howell's
33:43a good 20 seconds
33:44in front of him.
33:46We can semi-sorta
33:47count this as another
33:48Ironman with the fat moto.
33:50Good moto for Kitchen.
33:51You know, he wants
33:52more than fourth,
33:53but it's certainly
33:53better than the 14th
33:55that he had
33:56in moto one.
33:58Yeah, you know,
33:58Mitch Payton,
33:59he'll end up standing up
34:00out of that chair.
34:01Levi comes back
34:02riding like that,
34:03but I know Levi,
34:04he's got that heart.
34:06Wants to get up here
34:07and Mitch is always
34:09going to get him in shape.
34:11And he's been trying,
34:12he's been digging,
34:13just not quite the results
34:14expected.
34:15Again, this is a guy
34:15who generally is battling
34:17for these titles.
34:19And it's just puzzle pieces.
34:21We've seen signs
34:22from Kitchen
34:23throughout the summer.
34:25White flag now out
34:26for Deegan,
34:27and Shimoda just took it
34:28as well.
34:29They are all alone
34:30in third,
34:31and here is Hayden Deegan.
34:32Yes, that would be
34:33very interesting
34:34if he sweeps
34:35to end the year.
34:36If he wins all three,
34:38he will jump ahead
34:39of Jet Loras'
34:41career total
34:42of 250 motocross wins.
34:43And, yeah,
34:45I gotta think he knows that.
34:46Or once he sees that,
34:47he'll be thinking about it.
34:48Yeah, I'm sure he watches
34:50the races afterwards
34:50as all these guys,
34:51so if he didn't know it
34:52before, he will.
34:53And always some motivation
34:55to go.
34:58Yeah, that's the battle
34:59everyone is anticipating.
35:00Of course,
35:01you've got to give credit
35:02to everyone else
35:03in that 450 class chase.
35:04Sexton, who's winning races
35:05right now, Hunter Lawrence,
35:06Eli Tomac, and the rest.
35:08But that is a next generation
35:10battle everyone is
35:11really looking forward to.
35:14And we might have it.
35:16Yeah, it's gonna be good.
35:17You know, and Hayden,
35:18if I can give one piece
35:19of advice,
35:20don't think you're gonna
35:20go in that class
35:21and just run through them.
35:23You know, even know
35:23how dominant you are.
35:24And the reason I say that,
35:25because I experienced it
35:26firsthand,
35:27it's a different level.
35:28These guys are gonna race you
35:29like you're a Super Bowl champion.
35:31They're gonna give you your best.
35:32So last thing they want you
35:33to do is come up here.
35:34So it's gonna be a lot
35:35of hard work, fight.
35:37But if anybody can do it,
35:38it'd be number one.
35:39He has the heart to do it.
35:40And he's got a good team
35:41behind him.
35:42Yep, they announced it.
35:43That's right.
35:44Next year, he's 450
35:45in pro motocross.
35:47But keeping the eye
35:48on the prize here.
35:50Six races, points paying
35:52in his 250 career.
35:53And he's also on Team USA
35:55for the motocross of nation.
35:57So that'll be seven more
35:58250 races, including this,
36:00to go.
36:01And he's making the most
36:02of it right now.
36:04And don't forget,
36:05these wins pay good money.
36:06So that never hurts
36:07on the motivation side.
36:09Yeah, maybe get another
36:11set of keys after this.
36:13And he's got two nice cars
36:14already for the last couple
36:16of titles to see
36:17how many more he can get.
36:19And this is it.
36:20A few turns left
36:21for Hayden Deegan.
36:23Firing out of the break.
36:24It looked like Shimoda
36:25might have had him
36:26early in the day.
36:27Second half of moto one
36:28and all of moto two
36:30are all Hayden Deegan.
36:32Danger boy takes Iron Man.
36:38Shimoda, looks like
36:39James Stewart said,
36:41kept digging all the way
36:42to the end.
36:42He's still getting a good
36:43good ride, Joe.
36:46Both these guys,
36:47very impressed by Joe
36:49and Hayden.
36:49Great craft today.
36:50Really cool to see.
36:51And Tom Biao, good ride.
36:52Frenchman of the Red Bull
36:55KTM.
36:56It's actually Deegan's
36:57first ever win
