01:23Out side of the gate, Hempshire, Malcolm Stewart 7th, Rodgers another good start, 8th, then Schock and Guillaude who are battling for that final berth in the top 20 for the playoffs.
01:35James, give us the KTM Keys to the moto.
01:36Well, it's career best day and I'm really talking about my brother.
01:41You know, this is one of his better tracks out here and the reason he needs that is because the bubble, he has an opportunity to get third in points.
01:48So, he needs a 6th and better to have a third overall in that playoff seating.
01:53Malcolm made every race this year.
01:55He's made this one.
01:56Let's see if he can get that top 6 and right now, he's in it.
01:59And then the other bubble battle is, as mentioned, Schock, Guillaude, Mitchell Harrison fighting to be top 20 in points.
02:06If you're not, you're 21 through 30.
02:09You got to race the wild card race each weekend in the playoffs to get into the moto and, sorry, the points and money paying motos.
02:19So, that's a huge difference.
02:21Schock knows what he needs to do.
02:22Put riders between himself and Guillaude.
02:25Hunter Loris knows what he needs to do.
02:27He's got to hold off his brother.
02:28Yeah, you know, but I think he's playing with a Jaws theme, you know.
02:32Okay.
02:33I said I felt like Jet would probably just hang back.
02:36The way he's been riding, he clearly has a lot of pace.
02:40Hunter Lawrence rode good that first moto.
02:41He didn't get the best of stars.
02:43So, not surprising to see him leading, but the 18 just looks really comfortable.
02:47And he's been that way since he got off the truck this morning.
02:50Crowd is going absolutely wild out here early in this moto.
02:53Send it to JT.
02:54Yeah, it's wild down here.
02:55You can hear the air horns in the background.
02:57But yesterday, there's this thing called a media riding session.
03:00And each of the teams do it on certain weekends on Fridays.
03:03But one of the most unique aspects of that is you'll see both Hunter and Jet actually switch
03:08motorcycles during that session.
03:11Hunter will get on Jet's bike and Jet will get on Hunter's bike.
03:14And they'll go compare settings.
03:15They'll go ride and see, hey, maybe I like a little bit of this.
03:18I like what Hunter has going on.
03:20It's just one of the most unique things I've ever seen.
03:22Now, we haven't seen brothers this competitive.
03:24James and Malcolm are a little bit too old to have that separation from each other.
03:28But I don't know that we've ever seen anybody switch motorcycles in the middle of a practice
03:32session to see what each other have going on.
03:35I know.
03:35I mean, we definitely have not in competitiveness.
03:38I mean, I mentioned earlier, my brother took me out here for a win.
03:43And my dad, he was clapping for me.
03:45He was cheering for my brother, the second moto.
03:47And Malcolm ended up third.
03:48So I know, you know, they're competitive in general.
03:52But it looks pretty comfortable.
03:54That's definitely rare to have those guys switch bikes like that.
03:57And I'm curious to see why they would do that at a race.
04:01Because if they had an opportunity to check their settings at home, they ride together every day.
04:05Yeah.
04:05But it's not on the racetrack.
04:07So two different settings, two different bikes, each get to try.
04:10Hunter has said that he sometimes takes more of the lead as far as testing.
04:15Pretty sensitive to the bike.
04:17Oh, we have a crash, I believe, from Cody Schocker.
04:19We mentioned that battle for top 20.
04:22At the top of the hill.
04:23We'll see what happens.
04:27Oh, the bottom.
04:28At the bottom of the hill.
04:28Oh, Cody.
04:30You see that bike rebound that he wasn't ready for.
04:33And it caught him off.
04:34He's starting to lean the bike over.
04:35Those bumps right there.
04:36It looks like his bike rebounds.
04:38And that's going to be tough for the playoffs for sure.
04:41That might do it because Guillaume was one of the riders that went by the 992.
04:44He's up to eighth.
04:46Schocker quickly got to the motorcycle.
04:48But that might be it.
04:49You look at the SMX points as they run.
04:51There's that bubble battle.
04:51And they're trying.
04:54We mentioned career day in the KTM Keys to the Moto.
04:58If Harrison Schock and Guillaume had great days, like all of them in the top ten in all the motos,
05:04they could potentially leap past Justin Hill.
05:07He's not raced pro motocross, but scored a ton of points in pro motocross.
05:11Let's check in with Eli Tomac here, who is very – he's at 18.
05:17Yeah, I'd be curious.
05:18And he started in 22nd, so hasn't really made his way up.
05:22I think a lot of that has to do with the track.
05:24But also, I'm sure Eli's just ready for these playoffs to start.
05:28Get out of this season.
05:29He knows he doesn't have an opportunity to win overall.
05:32That's insane when you think about how he started off this championship and five-time motocross champion not to be able to get a win.
05:40So, he wants a restart.
05:42It's going to be a tough moto for him.
05:45He will be back.
05:46And he was good in his debut in the playoffs last year.
05:50Missed everything with injury in 2023.
05:53As Eli works his way forward, let's send it back to Haley.
05:56You guys have discussed this earlier in the broadcast,
05:59how Eli Tomac has been so frustrated with the fact that he doesn't have an overall win.
06:03And he said, at no point was I willing to accept that I was a P3 stadium guy.
06:08Because had I done that, I could settle, I could get lazy, and that's just not me.
06:13No, I completely agree.
06:15And I think there were some moments and times in motos where he was getting discouraged on not being able to run that pace.
06:22And you saw it.
06:23You go back to a few of those races.
06:26And it seemed like at Washuga when Chase was able to break through and get that moto win, him being able to hold off Jet.
06:31Ever since then, we saw somewhat of a resurgence of Eli.
06:35But at the end of the day, him not having a shot at his overall, it's going to be a long motor for number three.
06:42Battling with Lorenzo LaCercio, the rider out of Venezuela right now.
06:45And again, that's 17th.
06:48And as you mentioned at the top of the show, James, if you're going to pick a track to start at the back,
06:52this would not be at the top of the list.
06:54No, this is definitely not.
06:56And now what they're putting the water down and even some of the opportunities of places where you can pass,
07:01now it has all those ruts down that you've got to tiptoe your way down there.
07:05So it's going to be a long motor for him.
07:07You might have to try to wait for some of these guys to either make a mistake or get tired,
07:12just methodically make his way through.
07:13Meanwhile, Hunter Lawrence continues to hold off Jett.
07:17Then it's Justin Cooper, Barsha, and Hampshire up front.
07:21No change there if you look at the overall.
07:24The big differentiator as Tomek looks to make the move on LaCercio.
07:31And he's got it.
07:34And Rodgers as well.
07:36Rodgers had a good start in Moto1.
07:37The big differentiator up front in the overall is that Hunter Lawrence was third in Moto1.
07:42Jett does not have to beat him in this Moto1 to win the overall.
07:44But I have a feeling you're going to see a battle for the Moto1 win between the brothers anyway
07:48as Tomek keeps charging.
07:50Yeah, no, Jett's not going to just let him win this race.
07:53But I don't think as long as Justin Cooper stays a couple seconds behind him,
07:57Jett would be okay with staying here.
07:59You can tell by his rider position.
08:00When he wants to, he'll close up.
08:02I think Jett wants to have a little bit of fun here with him.
08:05JT.
08:07There's an interesting stat kind of floating around that's come to light.
08:10And it concerns Hunter Lawrence and really the 22 races he has now competed in.
08:16This would be the completion of 22.
08:18All 21 that he has done so far, he has finished inside the top five overall.
08:23He is the only rider to have ever done more than 18.
08:26And interestingly enough, that rider that had 18 is his trainer, Johnny O'Mara.
08:31So pretty fun stuff between the two.
08:33Something Hunter's very proud of is the consistency, especially early on in his 450 career.
08:38Yep, the first 21 450 motocross races of his career, he has been in the top five and aiming for 22.
08:44That is the record to begin a career in this class.
08:48Yeah, absolutely.
08:50I mean, you go back, he ran into the bus, Chase Sexton, finished second in his rookie debut.
08:56And then now he's got his brother.
08:58Otherwise, we're looking at Hunter Lawrence, possibly a two-pound motocross champion.
09:02You know, he's been riding that good.
09:05Fortunately, it's like he's caught in the era of his younger brother, Jett Lawrence.
09:10And some of those second places could have been wins.
09:13Hey, shout out, FMF Privateer Power Award winner, also brought to you by Rocky Mountain ATVNC.
09:18Those two companies doing a good job with the Privateer Awards this year.
09:22Harry Koulos, a very likable veteran out of Estonia, who told his story last year,
09:28when he had his wife going back and forth to Europe to get his suspension worked on.
09:33Well, then they had a baby over the wintertime.
09:36Wife has actually gone back and forth with baby and suspension at times.
09:40They're living down in the Charlotte area, riding at Club MX.
09:43And he would love to come back to America next year, so he's hoping for a ride.
09:48Would do some supercross if that opportunity comes up.
09:51He's supposed to ride supercross this year, actually got hurt.
09:54So he'd love to make a full-time go of it again in 2026.
09:58Yeah, can you imagine some of the conversations that he had with the wife after a bad race?
10:04He was like, I'm out here with the suspension, working on this motorcycle and his baby.
10:09Yeah.
10:09Go out and do that.
10:10Yeah, so.
10:11Step it up.
10:12Yeah, he better step it up.
10:13Yeah.
10:13We ain't cooking no dinner tonight.
10:14Putting all the work in.
10:15Yeah.
10:16Oh, I think he said Chet might want to have some fun here, making a battle.
10:19And I think that's what's about to happen.
10:24Yeah, he's been about a second and a half, two seconds.
10:26It really depends on where Justin Cooper, Justin Cooper closes the door on, closes up on Jetta.
10:31Jetta closed in on Hunter.
10:32But, again, I think Jetta probably helped his brother maybe keep that pace and see if they
10:38could separate it and then let the brothers have a little brother-on-brother crime towards
10:41the end of this race for that mode of victory.
10:44Yeah.
10:44Justin Cooper right there.
10:47Almost identical lap times between the three.
10:51158, slow 158 for all three.
10:53So, Justin Cooper not letting them go.
10:56No.
10:56And I think Hunter has a good pace.
10:58Jett's a little bit quicker.
11:00I feel like if he wanted to drop that time, he could.
11:03Him and Hunter and Justin are about the same pace.
11:05The fastest guy on the track was RJ Amshire running back in fifth place with a 157.
11:10So, no, still early in this moto, not even halfway.
11:15A lot of racing left.
11:16It's so hard to gauge it with the Lawrence's, how much speed they have left in the tank.
11:20For sure, you see Justin Cooper back there rallying and beginning to close on the 18.
11:27And there's all sorts of motivation.
11:29He has not won one of these races overall.
11:31Hunter did get one earlier in the year.
11:33JT.
11:34Yeah, we're just watching this race unfold here.
11:37It feels like one of those scenarios.
11:38And, James, I know you've been in races like this where they're kind of just letting the laps click off here.
11:43And once someone kind of sounds the alarm, then they're all going to go into sprint mode.
11:48But as for now, they seem like they're all pretty comfortable to run this pace and let the laps click off.
11:53And they'll settle it out later.
11:55Now, I think that's why you see RJ kind of turning the fastest lap behind them is because they're all kind of saving their energy.
12:01And you're going to see it.
12:02Somebody's going to open the salvo and then it's going to be on, but not so much yet.
12:05Yeah, no, I agree.
12:07I mean, when you think about Hunter Lawrence and Justin Cooper, those two are definitely letting the laps, you know, click off.
12:14Because they know the 18 is probably the fastest.
12:17So there's no point of, you know, trying to let this guy go and try to pull away because you're not going to be able to do that.
12:24Just Jeff, he's just letting it go and just waiting for his time.
12:27He's saving all his energy and he'll dictate this race as a few more laps go by.
12:32Okay, see, we watched this 250 or this 450 battle unfold.
12:38I want to go back to the 250 class of a developing story here.
12:42So there was a red flag restart, as you folks might have seen.
12:46Early in 250 Moto 1, the red flags are flying, telling the riders to slow down.
12:50Red Cross is out.
12:51You're not supposed to jump the jump.
12:52Joe Shimoda and then that's Hayden Deegan both jump that uphill jump while the Red Cross flag is out.
12:59Here's the official footage of it.
13:02Looks like Tom Vial jumped it.
13:03Oh, maybe Vial, Shimoda and Deegan.
13:07Yep.
13:07So the riders on the outside jumped it.
13:10So that has been under review for a while.
13:12We now have Mike Pelletier from the AMA.
13:14Mike, you're with us.
13:15I'm with you guys.
13:15Okay, so is there a ruling on that situation, jumping with a Red Cross?
13:19There is.
13:20When you jump on a Red Cross, it's a five-point penalty.
13:23But if you pass another rider while doing so, it's also a position penalty as well.
13:28So both Hayden and Joe received a one position and five-championship point penalty.
13:33So does that move the rest of the riders up in the order?
13:36That does, actually.
13:37Cole Davies wins the Moto.
13:38Deegan moves to second, and Joe moves to third.
13:41Wow.
13:41Okay, I'm glad you clarified.
13:42So we've seen the point penalties before, but that has always been in the rulebook.
13:47If you make a pass, you will get penalized positions.
13:50It has been.
13:50Correct.
13:51And no difference over the fact that it was a red flag.
13:54It was for the restart.
13:55There wasn't a rider down in that situation, I don't think, right?
13:58That's correct.
13:59Anything that happens prior to a restart is still assessed at the conclusion of the race.
14:03All right, Mike.
14:03Anything else to add, or is that pretty much the story?
14:05That's pretty much the story.
14:06Yeah, I got a question.
14:08So it's one position if you pass a rider, you said?
14:11It is, James.
14:12So if he was to pass two guys while he did that, it would be a two-position penalty.
14:16So since he passed one each, both Joe and Deegan, it's a one-position penalty for each rider.
14:21Yeah, so the last question, how does Cole Davies win when Hayden won the race?
14:25Right.
14:25So the way we issue the penalty, we start with the sequential order from the bottom up.
14:29So at first we move Davies, or I'm sorry, Joe down from third to fourth, which moves Davies up.
14:36And then we move, I'm sorry, up to second.
14:39And then Deegan got penalized as well, so then Davies moves up into first.
14:42Gotcha, gotcha.
14:43Thanks, Mike.
14:44Thank you, Mike.
14:44Thanks, guys.
14:45Wow, big shake up there.
14:46Good math, James.
14:48Yeah, so Davies actually gained two positions because the two riders ahead of him each lost one.
14:53Yeah.
14:53Put that together.
14:54Yeah, no, that makes sense.
14:56Whew.
14:57Yeah, championship-wise, it doesn't change anything because both of them get penalized,
15:00but Cole Davies got his, only took him three stars, right?
15:04He got a moto win.
15:05Jake Tate.
15:06So let me get this straight.
15:07Cole Davies went from running around 23rd all weekend to winning a moto in his second race.
15:1120-30 Unidill all day, all day, and then now he wins a moto.
15:17We need Clinton Fowler with ZMX Facts.
15:19I can promise you that's never happened before.
15:21I'll have what he's having.
15:23Whatever they did it during the week, it worked.
15:26Seven days improvement.
15:27Hey, battle right now, watching Harrison and Rod Bell.
15:30Rod Bell, one of the local products of the Maryland area, fast privateer.
15:34Shock trying to make his way back up after the crash.
15:37And then Harrison, the reason you're watching Harrison and Shock, look at the bubble battle.
15:41If Shock can pick up, Harrison and Guillaume are going to be into the playoffs.
15:46Shock needs seven more points to bounce Hill, who's not racing today, out.
15:51And time's running out for Shock to do it.
15:54Yeah, he's got about 10 seconds, actually about 14 seconds to Jorge Prada.
16:01So that would be that seventh position, seven spots if he needs to be 12th.
16:05Yeah, and I mean, 12th is doable for Shock.
16:08That crash was huge.
16:10He could have gotten there.
16:11They could have pushed Hill out.
16:13Now what happens is if you don't make top 20, you have to go to the wild card race.
16:18That's what Supercross fans know as the LCQ.
16:20And you've got to race your way in every weekend in the playoffs.
16:24If you're in the top 20, as Harrison of the 86 is right now, you're automatically in the gates,
16:29automatically scoring points and money every weekend.
16:33Shock's going to have to race for it.
16:35And even if riders in the top 20 aren't able to compete, for example, Jason Anderson's in the top 20 in points.
16:41He's not going to be back in time.
16:43For the playoffs, they still only guarantee riders that have earned that top 20 in.
16:47They don't push it to 21st.
16:49They'll just take another rider out of the wild card race.
16:53Harrison doing what he needs to do here.
16:54Halfway mark to this moto.
16:56It's a reminder that Monster Energy is available now.
16:59But Harrison getting it done.
17:0017th.
17:01Shock's got work to do on the 37th.
17:03Yeah, but he's doing a good job making his way up.
17:05We've got a yellow flag, so I don't know if that's a rider.
17:08Oh, that is.
17:10It's got a Suzuki.
17:12So is that Pat Jarrell?
17:13Yeah.
17:13Yeah, Pat Jarrell's up about two spots in front of him.
17:16The Frenchman on the Twisted T, Suzuki.
17:18Man, I hope he's okay.
17:20Yeah.
17:20But going back to the playoffs scenario, as Cody does a little scrub.
17:26Let's see what he does.
17:27Make that pass.
17:28Should have the inside if he gets on it.
17:30Look, Cody, we've got playoff spots.
17:31You need to...
17:31Pat Jarrell's up.
17:32You've got to move back.
17:33Yeah.
17:33That's good to see.
17:35We went back to Austin Forkner.
17:37So even if Cody, let's say he came out and won the first playoff round.
17:41You think Cody knows points are on the line?
17:42He just sent it over that jump.
17:44Now, be careful.
17:45You can't gain positions while you're off the track.
17:48Yeah, I think J-Bone didn't understand.
17:50He can't get back on the track.
17:52So there's Pat Jarrell.
17:53Yeah.
17:54He allows them back.
17:55But yeah, as you were saying, even if he wins it, he would still have to ride those in the LCQ or wild card.
18:04Wild card.
18:05Wild card.
18:05Excuse me.
18:06Every race.
18:07Yes.
18:07And that's just gnarly.
18:08So Tomac trying to catch Gio.
18:13That'd be for 10th or 9th.
18:15Wow.
18:15Really do you see Eli Tomac having a dig to get top 10?
18:20Then Webster is there also.
18:22Webster, the Australian motocross champion.
18:25He's over here riding with the Lawrences and racing in America to get ready for motocross and nations as Australia looks to defend its championship in that race in October at Ironman.
18:37It's Tomac digging.
18:39Yeah, I don't know if like Gio got past him or he got past.
18:43Oh, there he is.
18:44So, yeah, he's already in 9th.
18:46Yes, he is around Gio.
18:47So he's 9th.
18:48Yep, that'll push Gio to 10.
18:52So, Tomac, man, this comeback.
18:55We now have the replay of what happened.
18:56Let's send it to JT.
18:58Well, Eli Tomac making a big mistake here.
19:00But we're just trying to figure out how he started 22nd here.
19:03See him get off the line and he goes left right into who is that?
19:07Farsha on the left side.
19:09And once that happens, once you have to let off initially, it's basically over.
19:13A gate closes in front of you in the form of elbows by every other rider and you are destined for last place.
19:18So, unfortunate start there.
19:20But honestly, that was all Eli Tomac getting off balance.
19:22Yeah, tough one.
19:24And normally in some tracks you can sneak around the inside where everybody have bottlenecks to the inside.
19:29So, he really was just really stuck.
19:33And right before we went back to that replay, you saw that front end dance on him.
19:38Daddy was thinking about diapers after that.
19:40He was like, man, that was tough.
19:41But Malcolm, I said he had to have a career day.
19:44Needed a top six to be able to possibly get the third in the seedings.
19:49Well, that's where he's at right now.
19:51So, hang on, brother.
19:54That would be a great accomplishment for him if he's able to do that.
19:58Yeah, third in combined in motocross, supercross points.
20:01And the way that works is that with the playoffs begin, it's as if that seeding is one race worth of points.
20:07So, Justin Cooper is locked up number one seed.
20:10He'll begin the playoffs with 25.
20:12Second is going to be Jett Lawrence.
20:14He'll begin with 22.
20:15And if Malcolm can hold on for this sixth, he will fall past the idle.
20:19Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton get to third.
20:21And he'll start the playoffs with 20 points.
20:24Yeah, and you go back to supercross.
20:25Don't forget Malcolm was on the podium, won a race this year.
20:29So, the reason why I believe a lot of that, it matters.
20:33And especially for Malcolm and Hunter Lawrence.
20:35Because these guys, once you get that reset, they'll have his hope.
20:39And they'll start feeling like, man, I can be on the podium.
20:42I need to go out here.
20:43And we know when they have that out here, Malcolm's shown he's able to win a supercross.
20:49Hunter Lawrence, same thing.
20:50He's able to win.
20:51So, I think that hope gives him, and it's going to make the playoffs a lot better, as Malcolm stays at running at six.
20:56Yeah, you know, I think it's easy for people to say, look, Deegan and Jett Lawrence have won the SMX World Championship the last two years.
21:04It makes it look predictable.
21:06But let's not forget, it's a three-race run.
21:09What we haven't seen yet, and it's going to happen one of these years, is one of the favorites is going to have one bad race out of the three.
21:15And it's going to be almost insurmountable.
21:17There are double and triple points.
21:19But someone's going to put themselves in a huge hole, and one of these riders that people aren't thinking of are going to be suddenly in position to maybe pull it off, win the huge buddy and the World Championship.
21:30When it's three races, that's a short sample size.
21:32Anything can happen.
21:33Yeah, and a different race format.
21:35So, they'll be attacking in a different, and again, it's the third year, so everybody will be more prepared.
21:40They know what they expect.
21:41I really expect a lot of good racing doing this.
21:46And the reason I say that is because all the athletes and teams, they are training for this now.
21:50So, everybody knows how important and how fun this is.
21:52They're all getting better prepared, which means it's going to be better racing.
21:56The more people we feel like they have an opportunity to win, it's going to be better racing.
22:00And Malcolm being up there, we know he's capable of doing the same thing as well.
22:04Well, he's also capable of this track.
22:07Needed a career day.
22:08Here he is running sixth in the moto.
22:10Had that moto podium years ago that you mentioned.
22:12JT talked about it earlier in the show.
22:14What is it about this track do you think works so well for your brother?
22:17Well, I think a lot of it comes down to soil.
22:19You know, he's really comfortable here.
22:21And, again, Malcolm's talented.
22:24And, you know, certain tracks can get away.
22:27If you have bike struggles, you can get away with it at certain tracks.
22:30It's like Unadilla, it's not one of those tracks.
22:31If you've got bike problems, you're going to have a rough day.
22:33Where here you can kind of ride around it.
22:35So, if he was struggling on the motorcycle or something like that, he'll be able to ride around it.
22:39And the soil is not one of those tracks where you're losing a front end, you're nervous.
22:43So, I think all that combined, the comfort level allows Malcolm to come out here.
22:49Plus, he has a goal.
22:51He knew probably that top six to get him into that playoff seating.
22:54So, now you're starting to see a combination of all that.
23:00Definitely working out for the rock star Husqvarna rider.
23:02It's also working out.
23:03Look at this.
23:04Hunter Lourdes has put nearly four seconds into Jett.
23:08Again, the overall would still go to Jett because he'd have a 1-2.
23:12Hunter would be looking at a 3-1.
23:14But Hunter's getting it done in the individual moto right now.
23:17Yeah, Hunter's doing a great job.
23:21I think Jett probably now is getting to the borderline where it's getting a little too far for comfort.
23:27But who knows?
23:27Jett might have so much more speed.
23:29He hasn't shown that all day.
23:31But we'll tell here.
23:33He can turn this, close in on Hunter the next couple laps if he really is going to go out to win in this moto.
23:38I'd be surprised if he lets his brother win one.
23:41But he doesn't need to overall.
23:43Maybe he hasn't figured out the math that Hunter couldn't get third.
23:47Well, it was a fun one last week.
23:49Hunter said, I wanted to keep the champagne in the truck.
23:52I didn't want my brother to celebrate the title.
23:54I wanted to beat him at Utadilla and take it down to the finale.
23:56JT.
23:57Yeah, I'm just going to mention kind of what James was alluding to there.
24:00It doesn't seem like Jett has a lot of urgency.
24:03And maybe he is really giving it everything he has here.
24:05But remember, with that third in the first moto, Jett can sit right here and still win the overall.
24:11So it'll be interesting if it finishes like this to hear his comments about how he played the second moto.
24:17Interesting how this could play out.
24:21And I mean, Hunter's going to say nobody gave me anything, man.
24:24I straight up earned it.
24:25He's ridden very, very well.
24:27Bottom box going to check out Justin Barsha looking for a top five overall.
24:32It'll be the first one of the summer for him and the Rockstar Gascots.
24:34It has been a rough run, had some injuries in Supercross.
24:38When he's going for a podium at the race in New Jersey, huge crash, hurt his knee, got back by Southwick.
24:45The first couple of races were actually pretty good for Barsha, who again is in that bottom box.
24:49But then they made some bike changes and it actually went the other direction.
24:55So they've been working to get it back to where it was.
24:58And he's riding pretty well today.
24:59Might be fifth overall with fifth in the moto.
25:02Yeah, that's how I go back to certain tracks that you can, if you are struggling on a bike, you can ride around it.
25:07And you wouldn't think that by looking at Hunter Lawrence going down that hill.
25:11But you can't.
25:11Well, it doesn't look easy at all.
25:12And, yeah, looking at Jed, now he's six seconds.
25:15Even Hunter's looking back like, all right, I thought you were going to come.
25:19So a little strange to see him drop off that much.
25:23And Hunter, to his point, if he wins his moto, nobody gave it to him.
25:28And he was able to run away.
25:29I mean, he put 15 seconds on, 16 seconds on Justin Cooper.
25:32So it's not like he's riding a bunch of slouches.
25:36He's earning this one.
25:38Be a big moto win for him.
25:39The brothers, they have gone one, two, and nine motos this year.
25:43But Jed has won eight of the nine.
25:45Hunter did hold him off.
25:46Rode very well in the first moto at Millville.
25:49And this could be the second time that he's been able to beat Jed straight in one of these.
25:56JT.
25:57Well, we see a rider down here that Hunter's got to avoid.
26:00But this reminds me so much of Spring Creek in the moto where Hunter was able to hold the gap,
26:04then put in some sprint laps and build it, and it was over.
26:08And you see him now.
26:08That's what I would do.
26:09And Hunter doesn't need me to tell him how to win a race.
26:12But if he could put in his best laps right now, I truly think Jed will give it up,
26:16and Hunter will be able to ride the last few laps uncontested.
26:18Yeah, it almost looks like that's happening right now.
26:23You know, he's kind of broken, so we'll find out.
26:26Nearly eight seconds that got paid.
26:28The SMX finals in Las Vegas will be bigger and better than ever.
26:32So it should be some venue enhancements as you watch the greatest two-wheel athletes on the planet compete for the ultimate prize.
26:38So this year's event will have free parking included with the ticket purchase,
26:42along with a complimentary first-come, first-served post-event shuttle
26:45to take you back to the Las Vegas Strip,
26:48and additional entry points for faster entry into the FanFest.
26:52Essentially, after holding the event in Vegas last year for the first time,
26:56learn from that, making some improvements for the World Finals for year two.
27:00Go to SuperMotocross.com for tickets and information.
27:05And it was the brothers battling for the title last year.
27:07They were tied in points, and the tiebreaker went to Jed.
27:10What will happen in 26, 25?
27:13Who knows the next couple years between these two?
27:15Hunter's throwing down. JT.
27:17Well, in the heartbreak of the day right now for SMX World Championship playoff points,
27:22Mitchell Harrison, that was the rider we saw down just before the finish line.
27:25Hunter Lawrence had to go around.
27:27He is officially done for this moto, and you can see him hanging his head in despair.
27:30Oh, heartbreak for Harrison, who's been so solid, Supercross and Motocross,
27:38and now the radar is out on Schock, who's up to 15th place.
27:44He's trying to get John Short, Marshall Elton, and Prado.
27:47If he can gain three points, he would be tied with Harrison.
27:51Are you kidding me?
27:52A tie, potentially, for the spot.
27:55I actually don't know what the tiebreaker is.
27:57I would presume best finish.
27:59Schock's got a shot at it.
28:00He's had his own problems in this moto with a crash,
28:03and there's the heartbreak for the Michigander, Mitchell Harrison.
28:07Oh, bummer.
28:07He's got to wait around like almost like PGA Tour.
28:11You've got to wait around and see if you slide up into those playoffs,
28:13but I'm curious on that tiebreaker because Justin Hill is tied with Harrison.
28:19That's right.
28:20One of them would be eliminated.
28:21Again, I would wonder if it's best finish.
28:23I think that might go to Hill dating back to Supercross,
28:26but I'm just making that up to be honest with the tiebreaker is.
28:30Hill at a fifth at Arlington.
28:32That's the best finish of any of those three riders,
28:34as if that is those guys.
28:38Yeah.
28:39Looking at time and score,
28:40it looks like RJ has slid up past Justin Cooper in that third spot,
28:44so a good ride by him.
28:46We do have clarification.
28:47Yes, it's the best finish, and Hill has a fifth.
28:50That's unmatched, so he's going to be tied with Harrison.
28:53Now, they both might make it in unless Schock can make some more moves
28:57here at his home track, overcoming a crash,
28:59which one of the three won't be automatically on the gate in the playoffs.
29:06One of them is going to the wild card races,
29:08and they have to race their way in every single week.
29:12Hunter Lawrence, what a race he has put on.
29:15I think it's over.
29:16He's pulled away from Jet.
29:18Not going to win the overall.
29:19Going to go 3-1.
29:21Justin Cooper was the difference maker.
29:24He held Hunter at Bay in Moto 1,
29:26and that 3-1 is going to cost Hunter an overall.
29:29Yeah, possibly, but you've got to wonder if, you know,
29:32I know if Jet doesn't really go full throttle on Hunter.
29:36Why do you have to tell the truth all the time?
29:38I'm just saying.
29:39Why do we have to be real about it?
29:40Because I don't know if Jet rides the same way if that overall is on the ground.
29:44I don't want to say it.
29:45But maybe it's the motivation.
29:47But I said at the earlier part, Hunter had good pace that first moto.
29:51I mean, he was on the same lap times as Jet,
29:53so maybe it really did come down to a better start
29:56and maybe Jet didn't have nothing for Hunter.
29:59Who knows?
30:00Who knows?
30:00Yes, obviously, Jet at some point had to have known
30:03he didn't need to pass Hunter for the overall.
30:06But you want to give Hunter his flowers.
30:08He's riding very well.
30:09He's put big time into everyone now, including Cooper and Jet.
30:13And just look at him ride.
30:13No, I mean, if I want to make sure I clarify that Hunter went out here
30:20and did and doing a great job.
30:22He earns this race if he is able to hold on to it.
30:25I'm just saying the sense of urgency might have been a little different,
30:28but it might not have mattered.
30:29Anyway, I just saw Hunter looking back.
30:32He was even wondering where his brother was.
30:34So I'm not the only one.
30:36Like, well, maybe things might have changed.
30:37But nonetheless, good to see 96 out here.
30:40It's kind of what we want.
30:42We'll just put it in there.
30:42We'll never know category.
30:44We'll never know if he had finished second in Moto 1.
30:47What would have happened in Moto 2?
30:48Jet did not have to beat him.
30:50But Hunter is definitely on the gas.
30:52And there's only a lap and a half to go.
30:55He's going to get this Moto win.
30:56Ooh, if he hangs on.
30:58Yeah.
30:59Roughing up a little bit.
31:01But no, Hunter's look really good.
31:03And you go back to Millville, the way he rode that first Moto
31:07and almost had his brother for that second Moto.
31:10And he's been riding really good.
31:11He only had that one weekend.
31:13It was a little off.
31:13That was at Washougal.
31:15Chalked that up to just not really liking the track.
31:17But Hunter's gotten better, just like we've seen some of these other guys, like RJ.
31:22Whoa.
31:22You're just out front.
31:24You're just testing things out.
31:26Let's do it.
31:27We can double over the top.
31:29Yeah.
31:30And we've said it over and over.
31:32Oh, now we caught Shock.
31:34Just how underrated Hunter really is.
31:36Far and away second in the championship this year.
31:39And does have a win.
31:40So where is Shock?
31:41Nah, he's not been able to make up ground.
31:43He's still 15th.
31:44Yeah, they're telling him.
31:47Yeah, I was about to say.
31:48He needs to throw down some.
31:51Ooh.
31:52He's need one more.
31:54Yes, because he is.
31:55Nah, he needs more than that.
31:57He's looking ahead.
31:58He's trying to see who he can get.
32:00John Short is the next rider he's going to catch.
32:02This is early in the Moto.
32:03Watch Shock down bottom of this hill.
32:05Yeah, you can see that front end rebound.
32:07He was starting to lean.
32:08He got a little out of control before that in that last bump.
32:11But looking at the battle box on the bottom, he almost goes down.
32:16So.
32:17Oh.
32:18We didn't know that happened when he tried to get back on the track.
32:20That was a shock.
32:21Yeah.
32:23Understand he likes the Yamaha, but you don't need to show off the banners like that.
32:26Then remember, he went off the track again.
32:27And this is just a guy hustling and pushing it.
32:30But that proved costly.
32:31That's probably going to be the difference between on the gate,
32:35in the playoffs, and instead having to race his way in.
32:38Yeah, man.
32:38I didn't realize he was there.
32:40It looked like he was there for a while.
32:41But, yeah, maybe it's a mechanic who was just telling him one more
32:44because he didn't want to demoralize him, saying you need three more.
32:46So if you get one more, then you just got to.
32:49And you say one more.
32:50Yeah, and you say one more.
32:51You're like, oh, my math was off, man.
32:52I had lap riders.
32:53So, yeah, it's like the kids.
32:55You're just like, yeah, we'll do that later on.
32:57Knowing it ain't going to matter.
32:59We didn't do nothing.
33:00I love it.
33:00One more when you got the bag of candy in front of them.
33:03Just one more.
33:03Okay, maybe one more.
33:05One more for Hunter Lawrence.
33:06It would be a moto win.
33:07Like we said, this would be the 10th time this year in 22 motos
33:13that the Lawrences have gotten one, two.
33:15And the second time out of those 10 that Hunter has gotten the win over Jet.
33:18That is nearly half the motos this year that the Lawrences have gotten one, two.
33:23Unbelievable to even talk about teammates doing that.
33:26Even crazier to say siblings and teammates.
33:28This is special, you know.
33:32They just happen to be brothers.
33:34But every day, you got to almost unfair for the competition
33:38because these guys are going one, two in points, coming at the races one, two.
33:42And then they ride together and push each other every day of the week.
33:45Obviously got the bike figured out, starts figured it out.
33:48It's a hard combination that they figured and got to give Lars and HRC a lot of credit
33:53for giving these boys all the tools they need to get it done.
33:58Beginning of the year was not terrible by any means,
34:00but they definitely got better on this new motorcycle.
34:03Really after that break, High Point Round 4 showed up at Southwick.
34:06They have been nearly unbeatable.
34:08Chase Sexton made some noise when he jumped in, but he's back out.
34:11Moto win goes to Hunter Lawrence.
34:14But Chet Lawrence is going to end the year the way he did it at the beginning.
34:19Yeah, he's styling.
34:20No, he's Goon Riding.
34:21I was looking out the window, and he did the same thing.
34:25Overall win to Chet Lawrence.
34:28Yeah, that is actually anti-styling.
34:30I guess I should correct myself there.
34:31That is Goon Riding when they start overdoing it.
34:34I haven't seen that.
34:35Well, it goes back to that point.
34:36He needed an overall victory.
