00:00Riders already mentioned Shimoda did hug the left a bit and cut Deegan off the first time they had to start.
00:06We don't know if he was specifically doing that to stop Deegan or just to improve his own positioning regardless of who it was.
00:12But maybe we'll find out if he does it again here.
00:14Yeah, and one of the reasons why, because it is a little bit harder over there, so Joe could have been trying to get there.
00:20But we'll find out, like you said.
00:23Yeah, look at the very, very right side.
00:24Those outside gates are generally not good, but they do have some hard dirt right in front of them.
00:28That's what you saw Jorge Prado use in the 450 start.
00:31So Fly Racing, 30-second card, back up.
00:35Seth Hamaker was the Foster Energy fast qualifier, had a good start, was battling for the lead with Fial.
00:40Then the red flag came out.
00:45So a little more to think about on a championship day for Hayden Deegan.
00:49See if he can lock this down.
00:54Here we go.
00:56Once again, the Reds are up.
00:58Days down.
01:04Adams used the insider's advantage that time.
01:07Is Justice going to be served?
01:09Yes, it is.
01:10Tom Bial.
01:11Start was perfectly tilled exactly the same for everybody, no doubt about it.
01:15Has the whole shot.
01:15Yeah, great start by Tom Bial.
01:17But it looks like we've got it sliding up.
01:19I can't tell if that's the 100.
01:21I think it's Davies.
01:21Davies.
01:22Yeah.
01:22Yeah, throw a little whip.
01:24Wow.
01:25Much better for the young New Zealanders who struggled last week in his pro motocross debut, actually, coming off injury at Unadilla.
01:32And Drew Adams did it.
01:34He has a third-place start.
01:36We finally got the rookie up front early.
01:38We know he has speed.
01:39We've seen it in qualifying.
01:40What can he do with it?
01:41Yeah, well, that's two Kawasaki's.
01:42That's got a good start.
01:43So they're obviously figuring it out.
01:45The one guy who has figured it out is Tom Bial.
01:48And I was looking at that first corner.
01:49Joe Shimoda actually beat Hayden Deegan in there.
01:51But Hayden was on the inside.
01:52So I'll be curious to see how that plays out on the replay.
01:56But good.
01:56Let's see what Cole Davies can do out close to the pace.
01:59We know how fast he was in Supercross.
02:01Just came back from injury.
02:02And I've been excited to watch this rookie out here in the pro motocross.
02:07And Adams, average first lap position, 17th, and now running third.
02:12As for Davies, came off a big arm injury at the Supercross finale back at Salt Lake City.
02:19Didn't know if we'd even see him in pro motocross.
02:22Good that he got back.
02:23Told me yesterday, asked him, hey, if there weren't playoffs and seeding,
02:28would you have come back?
02:29And he said, probably not.
02:31So I don't know if he's fully 100%, but he's running well in second as we see Deegan in fourth.
02:36Yeah, but sometimes as a rookie, you know, you have average 17th.
02:41You get a good start.
02:42You don't really know what to do with it.
02:43And the reason that is because you're not used to having clean track to be able to go to your race pace,
02:49you know, or qualifying speed.
02:50So it might take him a couple laps or a couple times to be up front to get used to that pace
02:54as you start to see these guys are starting to get away from him.
02:58What a difference.
02:59Davies was 26th overall last week at Unadilla.
03:03Now he's gunning for the lead against Vial.
03:06Yeah, well, Davies is him being his first time here.
03:10It's going to help him out or being up here the first time, at least having the lead.
03:13It's going to help him out because I think a lot of the good momentum that he had from supercross.
03:17Once he's in this position, he'll come back.
03:19There'll be that muscle memory.
03:20So there's no bad memories from this racetrack or outdoors or something like that.
03:26I think this kid has an opportunity to be special in his career if he stays healthy.
03:30Well, certainly in supercross, he was opening up eyes.
03:33The 17-year-old out of New Zealand had a win streak going,
03:36was in contention for the championship at one point.
03:38But most people in America really haven't seen him ride motocross very much.
03:44So the question had been, can he replicate that success from the stadiums to outdoors?
03:49Certainly looks good right now.
03:51Yeah, and there would be certain tracks.
03:52He was losing the front end right there.
03:54He had to just gas it.
03:55But that's when you talk about skills.
03:57That was beautiful in this kid.
03:58And now he's going to be out down and Davies to the lead.
04:01Yeah, man, all that was caused because of Cole was able to close in.
04:04And Tom realized that he was on the inside, probably got on the gas a little bit sooner,
04:08lost that front end, but really impressed by the rookie.
04:11That was all caused by Cole Davie right there.
04:13Two rookies now because it will be Adams in second.
04:16So, yes, you're saying Bial had to hustle, rush that corner a little bit?
04:19Well, that's because Cole Davies came down that hill so fast and he closed him in.
04:23Tom went on the outside, then saw that number 100 on the pop in.
04:27He just got a little nervous.
04:28So, yeah, I would say Cole Davies has caused that one for sure.
04:34Check this out.
04:35Now you can see.
04:36Now Tom's going to go in the outside.
04:38At this point, now he's going to feel that 100 going on the inside.
04:41You can start seeing it.
04:42So, for him, that corner was starting to blow out.
04:45But Cole Davies hearing that Yamaha, I believe, pushed that front end.
04:49Oh, no, Tom, that actually starts losing her rear end first.
04:53Then he loses front end.
04:55So, Cole Davies drew Adams one, two.
04:57That could be the future of this class.
04:59We check in with Shimoda.
05:01It was about seventh early, and now he's caught Bial.
05:03But Deacon just ahead of them in third.
05:06Now Joe's opening lap speeds.
05:08He's took his weakness.
05:09That used to be his weakness.
05:11Now he's turned that into a positive.
05:12So, let's see if he can continue that last weekend.
05:15That first moto was something special.
05:17Be a little bit harder at this racetrack.
05:18But Joe Shimoda is still moving out.
05:20He's passed a few routers.
05:22He knows how important it is, especially if he has any chance of holding his championship off,
05:25or at least getting this overall.
05:26He's got to be in front of Hayden Deacon.
05:30So, officially, the OPL goes back to the top of the hole shot chart this year with five.
05:35Had five.
05:36Then they restarted, and he caught another one anyway.
05:38So, it's going to stand as five.
05:40And see how Deacon plays it in third.
05:43He's in title clinching position right now while they go after the two kids in front of him.
05:48And Shimoda, you know what he was going to do.
05:49He wants to go to the front.
05:51Yeah, I think really he's going to be dictated by the number 30.
05:54If he closes in to really put that pressure, I think if he doesn't,
05:59then I think eventually Hayden will go after the two rookies in front.
06:02But right now, he'll just stay there and be patient and see how this race plays out
06:05as Cole Davies already has three seconds over the other rookie in Drew Adams.
06:10And Davies becomes the 12th different rider to lead a lap this year.
06:14And that's what we're saying.
06:15Although the points in both classes have made it look like a procedural season,
06:20it's been fun to watch.
06:21There have been the stories and the battles and the battles.
06:23And we have him with those two rookies right now.
06:26Shimoda doing everything he can to get VL.
06:29Yeah, I think Joe wanted to really stay close to him
06:31or maybe have the opportunity to pass him here.
06:34As Deacon goes after Adams at the top of the screen.
06:38Drew came up so short on that triple.
06:41That's going to give Deacon second.
06:44Oh, big power move down the inside and Shimoda makes the pass.
06:48Yeah, I don't know if Tom missed that inside, but he went outside and then slid Joe Shimoda.
06:52And he, the way Joe's been around, you don't got to leave that door open.
06:56He's coming in anyway.
06:57See if he can close that gap to Hayden Deacon.
06:59So the Rotterdam of Suzuka Japan continues his march toward the front.
07:03See if Adams can reset after getting passed on that uphill jump.
07:07As Cole Davies leads Hayden Deacon, what a bounce back, what a turnaround for Davies.
07:15Really just a start.
07:16And we talked about off air.
07:17I'm like, I really didn't expect much from Cole Davies coming back at Unadilla
07:21because of the racetrack.
07:22Now this is going to be a little bit easier for him.
07:24And for him, he drives with Hayden Deacon during the week.
07:27So he's probably pretty comfortable, as comfortable as you can be with the number one.
07:31I'm sure Hayden's a little the same.
07:34Well, they did have a run in Supercross.
07:37That's why I had to throw that as comfortable as you can be.
07:40Oh, yeah.
07:40So, yeah, don't get any ideas here.
07:43Don't leave that inside open.
07:45So this could be the thing to watch.
07:46Can Shimoda close on that lead trio and make it a battle?
07:50And it looks like he does now have Adams in his sights.
07:53Yeah, he's already starting to close.
07:54I guess the good thing for Davies is that he's not a threat at the moment.
07:58There's no championship.
07:59So he probably can leave it.
08:01Daniel Hayden to act like he's his teammate.
08:03Yeah, Davies had a win streak at that time.
08:05And a lot of buzz about him maybe being the guy.
08:09And Deacon was able to extinguish that crowd.
08:11Let him know they didn't like it.
08:13He got booed big time.
08:14But that's the way of your ride with Danger Boy, lovers and haters.
08:19But he definitely always has the spotlight on him
08:21as he tries to run down his young teammate.
08:24Yeah, Hayden loves putting you in the danger zone.
08:26So you can already see Joshimodo closing that game.
08:31Gap in on Drew Adams.
08:33Let's go to GT.
08:35Weech, if you're an SMX Next fan, you've got to be loving the way this first motor is shaping.
08:40And if you've got Cole Davies, who is a recent graduate, we saw him absolutely on fire
08:45in Monster Hunter Supercross version of SMX Next.
08:47Drew Adams was last year's graduate going immediately to Monster Supercross or Kawasaki.
08:52And let's not forget about Hayden Deegan, who was really that guy in 2023 before moving up.
08:58So you wonder, can guys like Hayden Dudney, Randy Gibson are making their second race of their career.
09:03Can they live up to the legacy that these SMX Next graduates are leaving at the front?
09:07Hey, well, the 450 class we've pitched in now.
09:11Hunter Lawrence, RJ Hampshire, Justin Cooper, Chet Lawrence used to be the frontrunners of the 250 class.
09:16So we're looking at the natural progression here.
09:19And do not forget that Deegan will be on a 450 next summer.
09:23So you've got to imagine somewhere in the back of the mind of every one of these guys is, I won't have to race him next year.
09:30It could be mine.
09:31Yeah, but I do feel like, you know, at some point in Supercross, Cole Davies felt like he could beat Hayden Deegan straight up.
09:37And Joe Shimoda feels like he could beat Hayden Deegan right now.
09:40So Hayden is the champ.
09:41He is the best as he's closing in on his teammate.
09:44But this battle that we're seeing as Joe Shimoda gets around on Dr. Adams, take Hayden Deegan out.
09:49I'm sure we're going to be seeing these three riders next year and battling for this championship.
09:53Could be.
09:55Deegan, yes, now all over Davies.
09:59And Davies has become a fan favorite just the way he really came out of nowhere.
10:03Certainly to the American fans, a young kid out of New Zealand.
10:06He was good in that SMX Next program for amateurs that JT was talking about.
10:11But I don't know if that indicated how much better he would be when he turned pro this year
10:17and was winning races on the regular as Deegan closes in, JT.
10:21He is closing in, Weech, but I'm going to tell you what.
10:23He better make this pass pretty quickly because Joe Shimoda can now see them.
10:27You see Joe dropping down.
10:28He has them in their sights.
10:30Cole Davies has lost the pace.
10:31He's slowed just a bit.
10:33And then the longer that Hayden Deegan stays behind him,
10:35the easier that it's going to be for Joe Shimoda to close that gap.
10:38So Hayden Deegan really needs to have some urgency here,
10:41even though he feels like he's probably in control for the moment.
10:43Yeah, I completely agree.
10:45And if I'm Joe Shimoda, I'm doing everything to make sure I catch Hayden Deegan
10:49before he gets around him because I don't think Hayden's teammate is probably going to make it
10:53that difficult on him once he gets a little bit close.
10:56And then at the same time, I don't think he's going to make it that easy on me once I get there.
11:00So nonetheless, this is the opportunity for Joe Shimoda to try to close that gap
11:04or Hayden Deegan to make this gap and get around his teammate.
11:08That being said, you can start to see Cole Davies starting to pull back out.
11:11Kids fight back.
11:15So I talked to Davies yesterday.
11:16I said, everyone knows he can ride Supercross well.
11:20Now, how do you compare yourself to motocross and Supercross?
11:24And he said, look, that was new last week.
11:26He's coming off injury.
11:27But he's pretty confident he's going to prove he's not just a Supercross guy.
11:31And he's doing it right now.
11:33And Shimoda, this is his opportunity to close the gap.
11:37Yeah, I mean, I can tell you right now, Cole Davies is not just a Supercross rider.
11:41He might not show his best here because there's a lot to deal with.
11:44Hayden Deegan, clearly, if he wraps his championship, he's going to be your champion.
11:48And they've had all season.
11:49Last weekend was an anomaly the way that racetrack was.
11:52So we'll find out a little bit more.
11:54But Cole Davies is doing a heck of a job at keeping that pace on his teammate
11:58and not letting Joe Shimoda close in that much on him.
12:01So he's not just a Supercross only guy.
12:04Yeah, I think with each lap led, he's erasing any of that reputation.
12:09Deegan is there.
12:09But as you said, this is not an easy track to make passes on.
12:13Bottom box there is that Hammager B.L. Adams in a fight.
12:19That would be 4-5-6.
12:22Yeah, it looks like Levi Kitchens in 7, Thrasher, Conley, Masterpool.
12:27These guys are all bunched up back there.
12:29You always see the Cowboys.
12:31He's close to each other.
12:32Hammager, Kitchen, Adams.
12:34But just Vial in between them.
12:35Here's Deegan trying to set up a run around the outside.
12:38Yeah, we saw that line that Tom Vial went on the outside
12:42and then Joe Shimoda slid in.
12:43So Davies stayed on the inside.
12:45Hayden didn't have a way around him.
12:47And he should be pretty safe here.
12:48If he gets through this corner, doesn't give Hayden an inside as he does.
12:53Oh, that was close.
12:55Yeah, that was close.
12:56So if I'm Cole Davies, I'm not doing that the next lap.
13:00I feel like Deegan is playing a little nice here.
13:02Yeah, I mean, a 43-point lead.
13:05And the way he got booed at that race, he hit him.
13:08Probably trying to stay away from him.
13:10Oh, Deegan's got the tear-off dangling.
13:11Is that one or all?
13:15Sometimes one tear-off gets left over.
13:17Sometimes guys can accidentally have the whole thing malfunction and lose all of them.
13:21I would think there would be more urgency if you didn't have any tear-offs.
13:26Yeah, it definitely would be.
13:27I mean, sometimes you don't even notice it as a rider.
13:30Woo!
13:30That got close again.
13:33Deegan and Davies fighting for it.
13:34Let's see if Cole squares him up.
13:37Not quite.
13:38No.
13:38Hayden digging to the lead.
13:40Can the kid respond?
13:41Ah, the champ's starting to get away, and this is coronation day.
13:46If he can make it happen.
13:47Yeah, now let's see how aggressive Hayden is.
13:48He's starting to pick up the pace.
13:49You can see that gap already opening.
13:52And the reason I feel like that is because Joe Shimoda's only within, he's three and a half seconds behind him.
13:56So, number 30's going.
13:59See Hayden take a look back, want to know where he's at.
14:02Oh, number one's going now.
14:04And again, a track he's been so fast on the last couple of years.
14:11Yeah, he's still got tear-offs on.
14:14Is that annoying?
14:15Can you feel that, hear that, see that, when it's dangling like that?
14:19Well, if he was out front, nobody around, he would notice it.
14:21But right now, I think he's more focused on, one, keeping that bike straight in these ruts.
14:25But more concerned about that number 30.
14:27He can see him closing out, JT.
14:29He can, and you can see there were still tear-offs there.
14:33At some point, he's going to pull the remainder of those that are flapping around.
14:36But either way, with the lead, there's no way he would stop for goggles or do anything about it.
14:41Because I happen to remember a rider here that pulled all his tear-offs on the line.
14:45He might be in the booth today, but something about a guy that's out front doesn't need tear-offs.
14:49Is that right?
14:50That's a myth like Bigfoot.
14:52I don't know what you're talking about, Haley.
14:54Yeah, down here in the mechanics area as well.
14:56I'm not seeing any sense of urgency from his mechanic, Brett Duffy, or other team personnel
15:00that would suggest that Hayden may come through here looking for a new set of goggles.
15:04I'm not seeing any indicators of that just yet.
15:06No way he's going to do that with the lead.
15:08I think you would have seen him more aggressive, trying to get Davies more quickly.
15:12If he knew he didn't have any tear-offs, now he's going to be fine.
15:16He's made the pass.
15:17Just a little extra championship drama.
15:19We had the red flag restart.
15:21Look, Deegan only needs 15th in the moto.
15:23So he doesn't need to win it.
15:24You're just trying to avoid something catastrophic.
15:26Yeah, and I think when we're looking at championship-wise, he's not worried about Joe with that.
15:31Joe's going to replicate that same pass as Hayden Deegan.
15:34Haven't seen people pass there all day, two in a row.
15:37So Cole's got to figure that part out.
15:40It looks like he's trying to stay out of that berm and just losing a lot of time.
15:44But back to my point.
15:45Yeah, the championship-wise, he's not worried about Joe Shimoda.
15:48What he's worried about is the future in these playoffs and how good Joe's riding.
15:53And Hayden has that sense of, like, he doesn't want anybody to even think that they're even close to him,
15:59where I feel like the 30 does feel that way.
16:01So he wants to try to stop that.
16:03He's got three and a half seconds.
16:04See if he can hold it off.
16:06Okay.
16:07So the stretch run in this moto will come down to what you probably would have expected it to be,
16:12Shimoda versus Deegan for the moto win.
16:15Good job by the rookies.
16:16Adams is still fourth and Davies still third.
16:20The Owl, Hamaker, Kitchen, Thrasher, Masterpool, and DeFrancisco, that is the top ten.
16:30Man, if Davies could hold on and turn this into a podium after finishing out of the top 20 last week,
16:36it would be a remarkable turnaround.
16:38He's already shown everyone what he needs to show,
16:41and he can ride this stuff and he's fast.
16:42But see how fit he can be coming back from injury.
16:46Yeah, I think for him, if he can somewhat keep the number 30, that rabbit to chase,
16:51that would help him out a lot.
16:54And he's got another rookie behind him, so it's not like he has another guy closing that gap.
16:59Got six seconds and they're halfway already.
17:01He's got a pretty good chance.
17:05Kawasaki's battling.
17:06As mentioned, we've seen the information quite a bit.
17:08You have Vial on the front of that group.
17:10That's fifth.
17:10And it was Hamaker and Kitchen.
17:12You're watching there.
17:13Sixth and seventh.
17:14And now the clock is out.
17:16Is Shimoda catching Deegan or is he losing ground?
17:20Let's check.
17:22No, he's losing ground.
17:233.9 is the gap halfway through the moto.
17:25A reminder of that monster energy available now.
17:28And Deegan responding to the challenge from the 30.
17:31Yeah, I actually think Joe was closing, but if that drone shot, you saw him get stood up in those roller sections.
17:36I think he lost quite a bit of time in there.
17:38So he might have closed, made that mistake, and Hayden's starting to get away.
17:43So it's an important part.
17:44And we talked about this at Ironman.
17:46Joe is going to be here the rest of the race.
17:48It's like he's not going to drop off.
17:49The way he rides, he's going to attack.
17:51So Hayden Deegan, if he wants to win this moto, he's going to have to continue this pace because the number 30 is not going anywhere.
17:57What I learned a lot being next to you in this booth is I think people think you stay there the whole moto, that's all fitness.
18:02But you've talked so much about the mentality of the riders and how they, in Joe's case, you just can't break them.
18:08You can't get them to give up.
18:10No, and you can.
18:11He's got his head down.
18:12He's focused and really impressed.
18:14And I think that's why Joe has only gotten better because he's not emotional bound like some of the other guys where they go up and down.
18:22Joe's going to give you everything he's got.
18:23If he's got enough, he's going to win.
18:25If not, he's still going to put in that effort.
18:27And you can tell with that attitude that he really feels like he can survive two 30-minute motos and beat Hayden in fitness-wise as well.
18:37Well, I go back to when Deegan was hurt at Redbud and stabbed in the leg with his handlebars.
18:43We're watching Dylan Schwartz, who's hanging on, trying to at least, for that final spot guaranteed on the gate.
18:50I talked to Brian Deegan, Hayden's dad, and he said that the guy we're most worried about is Joe.
18:54That was before Joe was on the big win streak.
18:56But he said he's the guy we know can do the 30 plus two.
18:58No problem.
18:59So no matter what, that's going to be who you're probably battling at the end of the day.
19:04If you could dig deep, that was going into Millville.
19:07Shimoda could have, should have won on that one.
19:08Then he did win the next one at Washutal.
19:10Here's Schwartz on the Toyota of Redlands Bar-X Yamaha.
19:14So if you look at the SMX points, which is the playoff seating, he is 19th.
19:21He's going to fault Hampshire, who's not racing in this class any longer.
19:24The goal is to hold off Turner.
19:27Shock also not a factor because he's racing 450s.
19:30And Dylan Schwartz doing what he needs to do right now.
19:3216th place, score a couple of points, and get on the gate.
19:35Yeah, no, he's doing a good job looking at Tommy, the score.
19:38Lux is back in 23rd, so he's not even scoring any points.
19:42So Dylan's doing what he needs to do.
19:44Pretty much the same thing he's been doing all year.
19:47Saw a couple of times that he got starts and he was running up front.
19:51And I think it was Washugo where he was fast in the qualifying.
19:54So he has the speed, but the starts haven't really helped him.
19:57And that's why he's fighting in this position he is in these playoffs.
20:00But nonetheless, he's doing a good job, exactly what he needs to do to solidify that top 20.
20:05Well, to give you an idea how badly these guys wanted, he hurt his ankle last week.
20:09And there was a question if he was going to race or not.
20:11But he's lining up because he does not want to be in that wildcard race in the playoffs.
20:16He wants a guaranteed spot.
20:17And he's got to race it to make it happen.
20:20It'll be a little easier with Turner back in 23rd right now,
20:23which is not a points-paying position.
20:25They only score points back to 21st.
20:27March Banks.
20:32Now, when we mention the playoff seeding,
20:35March Banks and Villal are in a showdown for 3rd ranked.
20:40And Villal is certainly going to get the drop on him here.
20:42There was a three-point gap between them in this moto.
20:45We're talking 5th and 10th.
20:46So March Banks once again has work to do through the traffic.
20:51Yeah, it looks like Roder D behind him.
20:53But, you know, the last few races, we haven't seen Garrett have that same end-of-the-race fitness that he had.
20:59And he showed in the first three quarters of the series.
21:01So you've got to wonder if there's something else going on or has it been a long season.
21:05But nonetheless, we used to look at the 36.
21:08He just kept continuing coming and coming.
21:10And nobody was getting around him.
21:11The last couple of races, we've seen him get passed at the end of the race.
21:15And that might cost him that possibly 3rd in the seeding at the end of the day.
21:21Yeah, Villal has now vaulted ahead of him by 2 points in that fight for 3rd going into the playoffs.
21:27And the way that works is, number 1 seed, in this case, Deegan,
21:30will start with the equivalent of 1 race win worth the points.
21:33That's 25.
21:34Shimoda would start the playoffs with 22 points.
21:373rd, Villal or March Banks would start with 20.
21:41We'll give you an update on this team.
21:45And as we say, they're usually flying in formation.
21:48Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
21:50We've got Adams 4th, Hamaker, Kitchen 6-7, Masterpool,
21:54who returned to racing last week at Unadilla after a broken pad,
21:58his 9th, and then March Banks 10th.
22:00So, yep, most of the teammates near each other on the track as usual.
22:04Yeah, but at the same time, I want to give Drew Adams a shout-out.
22:07You know, we got passed early in the race,
22:09but he's been able to have a couple seconds over his teammate.
22:13And then Hamaker just made the move on VL.
22:15Or is that a lap right there?
22:17Yeah, that's got to be.
22:18Yeah.
22:18They just went right by.
22:19I think that happened last week.
22:21Keep confusing the same rider with VL.
22:24Haley.
22:25Seth Hamaker brought fire in his past qualifier interview,
22:28and what a heater that lap was.
22:30But the interview was equally as such.
22:31He added that his inspiration for rides like this
22:35stemmed back to how this 2025 Supercross championship ended.
22:39He was looking for some redemption from that.
22:41And mind you, Seth Hamaker, he wants to go for an overall outdoor podium.
22:45He actually doesn't have one, believe it or not.
22:47So, some extra motivation on the day stemming from the Supercross season.
22:53Hey, guys, I just wanted to mention, that is Tom Bial.
22:55Oh, that is Tom Bial.
22:55I have no idea why he moved over and let that pass happen,
22:59but it was him.
23:00So, we'll see if he can recruit.
23:01Yeah, last week, I got him confused with a similar bike in gear.
23:05Russell Bicherry, the rider out of New England.
23:08But that is Bial, who just handed two positions over.
23:11Yeah, that's why we got confused,
23:13because normally it's usually lap riders that move over like that.
23:16So, maybe Tom has got a problem.
23:19And if I'm Drew Adams, the last guy I wanted to let pass me is my teammate one.
23:24But Handmaker, I have my goggles and my podium speech ready for them.
23:28They're fastest qualifying.
23:29And then Seth came up there and knocked me off.
23:31So, Drew Adams is only a couple seconds in front of these two battling for fifth and sixth.
23:36I don't know what it is about this Monster Per Circuit Kawasaki team,
23:41where we have seen these three and four rider packs,
23:44almost like watching the Tour de France or something.
23:47They draft each other.
23:49We got the Peloton.
23:50We're helping each other out.
23:51Kitchen closes on Handmaker.
23:53Yeah, well, unfortunately, they need to change sports,
23:55because it doesn't really work.
23:56Drafting doesn't work that well.
23:58Not here.
23:58You just run out of tear-offs and frustration and patience.
24:01I think James Kitchen might be doing that.
24:04He's getting aggressive here to try to move around.
24:06Yeah, I mean, Levi's been doing this a lot this year,
24:09especially in the races that he's on.
24:11Man, the guy has pace faster or just as fast as the leaders up front,
24:15but continue to come.
24:17But I still like the fight in him.
24:19He knows there's a lot to fight for, including pride.
24:22And you know if you want to be a contender with Hayden Deegan moving out,
24:26you've got to make these passes and send that message for next year
24:29that I'm the best of the rest for sure.
24:31Well, we've seen so much talent and speed and race wins from Kitchen.
24:35But I feel like he's one good moto, one good thing away,
24:39maybe from making it click again.
24:41It could be right here.
24:42Makes the move.
24:43Oh, elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder.
24:46Couldn't do the triple, and that allows Hemacre to get him back.
24:50Yeah, no, Levi's been good.
24:52The good thing is he's showing the pace,
24:53and they're also closing in on the rider in front of him who's closing in on Cole Davey.
24:59So maybe that little Peloton thing is starting to work.
25:03They're drafting each other because they don't close up as he goes back after his teammate again.
25:09And his teammate going out to the other teammate.
25:10There it is.
25:11Now all the same shot.
25:12Adams, Hemacre, and Kitchen.
25:15Yeah, there's a lot of tracks that, you know, you get caught up with lap riders.
25:18You might have an opportunity.
25:19But this particular track, you can use your guys in front of you as a pick and roll
25:23as Hemacre gets up his teammate.
25:27Yeah, makes the move.
25:27Now he's stuck in traffic.
25:30Adams tries to get him back.
25:32Kitchen, they nearly collide.
25:33Yeah, Levi's getting really close.
25:35Somebody's going to leave it inside.
25:37Kitchen door is going to swing open on him.
25:40And all the while, Cole Davies six seconds up ahead in third.
25:44Hemacre would love to get there.
25:46Oh, here comes Kitchen again.
25:48Yeah, let's see what Drew looks over.
25:50You can tell he's starting to feel it.
25:52Boom, wheel to wheel, and Kitchen the pass.
25:55Yeah, you saw that one coming.
25:57Levi needed to make this pass.
25:58I actually thought Drew was going to give it to him, but he held in,
26:01and now he's going to have Tom Vial.
26:02Actually, we don't see Tom Vial.
26:05Yeah, something must have happened here with Vial.
26:07As for Adams, you said at the beginning of the moto,
26:09sometimes when you're not used to getting the starts,
26:13there's a lot to deal with when you do it for the first time.
26:15Back at Iron Man, which was maybe the most brutal race this year physically,
26:19he said he couldn't believe how easily he was going by riders
26:22who retired late in the moto, second moto, and he felt great.
26:25So that's the difference.
26:26Yeah, no, it really is.
26:27I mean, partly it is mental, but at the same time,
26:30I feel like when you're in the back, even though you're racing for positions,
26:34when you're up front, it's more of a sprint speed,
26:37so it's like you're getting on a treadmill running really fast,
26:39and if you're not used to doing that, you can almost wear yourself out.
26:42So having that open track, sometimes these guys, especially when they're young,
26:47they really kind of let everything out.
26:49They don't have anything towards the end of the motors,
26:51and I feel like that's what's happening with Drew Adams.
26:53But next time he's there, he probably won't have this same drop-off,
26:57and he'll just continue to get better.
26:59Yeah, the point is, again, that's not fitness.
27:01He's already proven he can do the 30-plus-two on a brutal day.
27:05But racing up front, a little different story,
27:07and this guy knows the story better than anyone.
27:09Hayden Deegan now on the verge of winning the title in the best possible way,
27:14and that would be with a moto win.
27:16Shimoda got there.
27:16It was three and a half seconds,
27:18and Deegan has continued to power away from his rival.
27:23Yeah, oppressive run by Hayden, especially with the championship,
27:26and making those passes on his teammate when he needed to.
27:29He saw the number 30 going,
27:30and he could easily let Joe by,
27:34wrap this championship up, but that's not how Hayden operates.
27:37He hasn't even messed with that tear-off that's hanging out.
27:39He ain't got time for that.
27:41That's so funny to talk about Deegan being more the veteran of the class
27:44in his third year compared to Adams and Davies.
27:47They are 17.
27:48Hayden Deegan is still only 19 years old.
27:50It's just a motocross thing.
27:52I mean, we were saying the same thing about you.
27:54You talk about these guys like they're entering their peak prime.
27:58He'd be a college athlete in a lot of sports at this point.
28:01Yeah, winning helps a lot of that.
28:03You know, you have to grow up really quick,
28:05and I think Hayden has a support team around him with Brian and his sister,
28:09so sometimes he's not even the most popular Deegan in his own house.
28:12You know, this battle we're watching here is Masterpool and Thrasher.
28:18Masterpool wants to get in on that Kawasaki fight in front of him.
28:21He has Thrasher first to deal with.
28:25Not sure where Masterpool is going to be next year,
28:27so Pro Circuit is full.
28:29They actually had to add a fifth slot to even bring March Banks back.
28:33They announced that deal a couple of days ago,
28:36so I don't think there's going to be any room at the end for Masterpool.
28:39120. Oh! Hammock are down.
28:42Yeah, Bomber, and he's in a tough spot because that's his pretty steep hill.
28:46And it looks like his chain.
28:48Oh, it's a bike problem.
28:50Maybe not down, just a bike problem.
28:51Yeah, probably his chains off or something like that,
28:54the way he's looking down.
28:56Oh, and this is the rider at one goal.
28:58You can just see the left side there.
29:01The chain's on.
29:03Whatever it is.
29:03It was something else.
29:05He would be able to roll that bike down, but.
29:07Well, Seth had one goal, and that was to go to the overall podium,
29:10and he was doing everything he could to improve his odds,
29:13and now that's gone.
29:15Yeah, bummer for him.
29:16Only a minute and a half left in the race.
29:20It's been a few times.
29:21He's like, why'd you wait so late to go down?
29:23He did all the moto.
29:25Did all the work just to finish doesn't show down.
29:28Nope.
29:28Did all the hard work, and it's not going to get anything out of it.
29:30So that might be it.
29:33Can Davies hold on for a bounce-back moto podium
29:36after 26th overall last week?
29:41Yeah, he's looking up at a time to score.
29:44Levi's about a second faster.
29:46He's going to try to fit.
29:48He's working on that chain sprocket area.
29:50Yeah, I think what he's trying, something's stuck in there.
29:52Won't allow the bike, the rear tire to move.
29:55Otherwise, he would just turn it around and roll it down the hill.
29:58So something's stuck in that thing.
30:00Well, how about the Kiwi, who will turn 18 on Thursday?
30:06It's unbelievable to be able to improve this much in seven days.
30:10Oh, I thought you were talking about what he did.
30:12Just little subtle things, what he did going down that hill.
30:16Just the style and the skills that it takes to do what he's doing
30:20just shows me that this kid's going to be legit.
30:22And third race of the season, possible podium.
30:26Yep, and also, these points will, I think, pretty much cinch it
30:32as far as staying in the top 20 and earning that automatic berth in the playoffs.
30:36Here's Cole's strategy on that.
30:38Talked to him yesterday.
30:39Yeah, I'm trying not to think about that.
30:47You know, you go, you know, I go right like I know I can.
30:51You know, I'll be, you know, in the points.
30:53So, yeah, I'm excited.
30:57Ready to turn it around this weekend.
30:58And the no-nonsense personality of Cole Davies,
31:03I think the fans really fell in love with that also.
31:05When he started getting on the podium earlier here in Supercross,
31:09he was asked, are you surprised to be up on the podium?
31:11Is this what you expected?
31:12And he said, I mean, yeah.
31:15And that was it.
31:16And that's what more can you say?
31:18Yeah, he doesn't really waste a lot of air, you know, in his speaking.
31:22He gets straight to the point.
31:23There's no room to, there's no sense, nonsense with him.
31:26He tells you exactly the way it is, and he's not even 18, or he's turning 18.
31:29He's turning 18 in a couple days, yeah.
31:31So, very bright future.
31:34Good to see him get through that big arm injury.
31:37Broke his nose also in the crash at the Monster Energy Supercross finale,
31:41and now to put it on the podium in his second-ever pro motocross race.
31:46Yeah, but it looks like Levi's closing in pretty good.
31:50I know Levi would like to give him a birthday present,
31:53and that's the fourth place this moto.
31:54So, helps him a lot.
31:58De-gifting.
31:59Yeah.
31:59Take that trophy away.
32:00And Kitchen, oh, Kitchen's starting to lurk with a lap and a half to go.
32:04Now, the good news is you look at the playoff points as they run.
32:07Davies now 35 points to the good.
32:10It could be a few less, though, if Kitchen gets him.
32:12I don't think he's counting every individual point at this point.
32:15He just wants the podium, and Kitchen is going for it.
32:18Yeah, the Kitchen's back open.
32:21But, yeah, I think when it comes to Cole, he felt like if he has two good motos, he'll be in the playoff, you know, in that.
32:28But I think what it really does is give him a belief that last time we were racing Supercross, I was able to win.
32:33Maybe I can do that here if I get on a roll, JT.
32:36Yeah, and James, for Kitchen here, he's trying to get on a roll, but he also knows that Cole Davies is struggling.
32:42This is Cole Davies' second pro motocross race coming back from an injury.
32:45He knows that Cole Davies is not 100% right now, so he is on the charge.
32:50And there's so much confidence to be gained from knowing that the guy in front of you is a lot more tired than you are.
32:55Yeah, absolutely.
32:56We call that that wounded duck situation.
32:58But Cole, to me, he still looks pretty good.
33:00You know, the way he looked at really, you know, fresh hopping over the bumps.
33:06And the way he went down that hill helps him out a lot, you know, missing those bumps, hopping over.
33:10And you can see that gap that he's able to get over Levi.
33:13You know, I'm not surprised that you're talking the way you are about Davies.
33:16There's so much buzz about his technique on the motorcycle.
33:20Even beyond the results, I think.
33:22It's more than that.
33:23It's more than just the number on paper.
33:24Yeah, when I saw him when he was racing the next program, I mean, even little things like that,
33:30That bike skill, that's when I'd say, you got that kind of bike skill, you can be good at any discipline.
33:35And so he's been able to turn that into, you know, hopefully maybe a third place in his moto in his second race back off that gnarly injury.
33:44Man, this kid, he's legit, just like this one is, too.
33:48Well, this is legit as it gets.
33:51Going to win the title by winning the moto.
33:53Hayden Deegan, look, great run for Shimoda to stave off elimination.
33:58The last second half of the season.
34:01But Deegan won one at the opener.
34:03He's been the guy all year.
34:04There was never really a threat as far as the points were concerned.
34:08And these are just finishing touches on a championship that was his to lose.
34:12And he's not going to lose it.
34:13No, he's not.
34:14And it's a statement moto by him.
34:17And the way Joe has been in these last few motos, you know, it's a lot bigger.
34:22But the main goal is to do this.
34:24And, I mean, what can you say about this kid?
34:26When he made his debut at Ironman a few years ago?
34:29Or you just go back to that.
34:31I remember his feet flying off that and a lot of hype that he doesn't have it.
34:36Had a pretty good rookie season and that was nice.
34:39What?
34:40What the heck did I just see?
34:41He was like, this is the opposite of the scrub.
34:44You know, you turn it down, I'm just going to hop over it.
34:47Feet off the pegs, hopping over the top of the hill.
34:49Yeah, there it is.
34:52Five-time champion in the 250 class is the message from Brent Duffy.
34:59And the checkered flag is in sight.
35:02This will be more than enough to wrap it up.
35:05So it's time to lock in, chat, because Hayden Deegan is a two-time 250 motocross champion.
35:12It's like Cole Davies has been able to hold on.
35:21Looking at time and scoring, he's able to pull away from Levi.
35:23So really impressed by the kid.
35:27And Deegan celebrating.
35:29Shimoda takes.
