00:00Even with a mask, we still know it's Stephanie. Or is that a spoiler?
00:04Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, McFarlane Toys Digital, Stephanie Brown, Batgirl.
00:09As Batgirl, Stephanie fought crime on her college campus at Gotham University with the help of her own oracle of sorts, Computer Expert Proxy.
00:33Thanks to a grant from Batman Inc., Batgirl set up shop in her own Batcave-like hideout she called Firewall.
00:39I don't even think Arthur had a clue we'd be getting a Stephanie Brown Batgirl.
00:43But yeah, here she is, and here I am, and we're going to take the tape measure and, you know, of course, we do what we always do.
00:48We're going to see how tall the figure stands.
00:50I actually grabbed this on the Facebook selling group from Popeye the Toy Man.
00:53If you'd like it to currently check out the wares that he has, you can click the link down below in the video description.
00:58Back, though, to Stephanie Brown and her height, the figure is going to be standing about six and three quarters of an inch of that, or roughly 17 centimeters tall.
01:07Well, I'm not using all of it, no, but I would say at least 85% of her body gets borrowed over from Cassandra Cain's Batgirl, in that she has the same torso, she has the same utility belt, and she has what seems to be the same legs.
01:19Different lower boots, though, different gloves.
01:21So, would that work out to be about 85%?
01:24Certainly a lot more of a percent than what we also got from the Three Jokers Batgirl, in which she only really then uses the same top of the torso.
01:32Another Batgirl we can also bring in as well.
01:34This happens to be the Gotham Knights Batgirl.
01:36By far, probably the shortest and the hardest one to stand.
01:40If you can stand a little bit of scratching.
01:42We'll be doing that in a second with this card, as the figure does come in clear with McFarland Toy's digital scratch card.
01:46First, though, what she does have is a display stand.
01:50Being that it is a McFarland Toy's digital, what you get treated to is still the same circular black stand, but now printed on the front, McFarland Toy's digital.
02:00I should really just do this for the next 15 minutes.
02:03I'm not going to do that.
02:04I'm going to move that off to the side, though.
02:05The figure does also come in clear with a trading card.
02:07If you were, though, to look at the details and go from the left to the right, the figure to the card, to the card, to the figure, you may notice that there are a few little luxuries that they did take, and some of the colors and some of the way the costume is designed isn't 100% correct.
02:22Still, we get ourselves a nice-looking card.
02:24The back of the card, though, does tell us that the real name is Stephanie Brown.
02:28It's a good, meaty-enough read that at least you're not going to be spending a whole lot of time if you pause the video right now and you read it for yourself.
02:35Now, I've taken, though, the liberty, and I've read it already before you, so really, you don't even have to pause the video.
02:42You can go on your merry little way and watch the rest of this entertaining review.
02:46I certainly hope it is entertaining.
02:48Let's move that off to...
02:49I'm not going to move the card too far to the side, because I want to pull it back, and we're going to go, again, detail to detail.
02:55One other detail, though, again, that the figure does have is that she has herself a scratch card.
02:59The scratch card can be redeemed by going to www.mtd.gg to download the McFarlane Toys Digital Viewer app for your Mac or PC.
03:09I don't know, though, just as something I want to say on the side.
03:12If the font has gotten smaller, if it has gotten blurrier, or if it's just my own eyes.
03:19I'm having a harder time, though, I think, to read that.
03:22Scratch the above to reveal your one-time use code.
03:25I was able to read that fine.
03:26Create your own account and log in.
03:28I put in own.
03:30Then click to redeem in the top left corner of the screen and follow the instructions on the pop-up window.
03:35Let's do that.
03:36Well, I'm not going to go to the part that has the screen.
03:38I'm not going to show you guys where that drops down.
03:40You'll have to do that yourself.
03:41What I'll do, though, is I'm going to grab my cutchins, and I'm going to scratch carefully away the card.
03:47I don't want to scratch too deep.
03:50Just enough, though, to get rid of what will be probably all over this place now.
03:54I mean, like...
03:55Wiping it away here.
03:58Scratch it away.
03:59Scratch it away.
04:00I should really have myself a small desk vacuum.
04:03I could scratch this.
04:05I could show you what's going on here.
04:06And I could just say, hold on a second, and just...
04:08Vacuum all the debris that's now all over the place.
04:15There's the one-time use code, though.
04:16One-time use.
04:17One person can only use this code.
04:20Let's move that to the side.
04:22For the figure's accessories.
04:24She has, first, though, a Batarang, and I think both the Batarang and the Grapple line have been used before.
04:31My guess is, and you can let me know if that is incorrect.
04:34I think it's the Build-A-Batmobile Batgirl, which is actually the one Batgirl I didn't bring in for this review.
04:40I just don't know where she is right now.
04:42I think, though, she had the exact same accessories.
04:44A Grapple line that hasn't fully extended its line.
04:47Kind of looks like it just has been shot off, and you can see.
04:50It's just still a little bit bunched at the back here, but it will go tighter.
04:54I don't know how much further that really is going to go.
04:57I mean, even if that unravels, how much more?
04:59Is it about that far?
05:00Don't expect to go too high of a building.
05:03But this basically can fit into her hands.
05:06She does also come included with a Batarang.
05:08A very large, chunky Batarang.
05:11I knew I had something there.
05:14I kept looking at this, thinking, no, my eyes, I'm sure, are just playing tricks on me.
05:17It's a little bit of tape.
05:18Go away, little bit of tape.
05:20But a Batarang, again, can be fit in her hands.
05:22She does have, luckily, at least out the gate, two gripping hands.
05:26So one side can hold the Batarang.
05:28Whether you want to hold the Batarang this way or the opposite way.
05:33Unfortunately, because they are also using borrowed-over accessories,
05:37not always do these accessories fit well in these figures' hands.
05:40I find, like, the Batarang sits just barely in her grip.
05:44The Grapple line fits fine.
05:45See, that's going to fall off.
05:47The Grapple line fits fine, though.
05:48You can easily attach that into her hand.
05:50I think with the fact that she does have a wire built into a now-fabric cape,
05:55likely I'd be displaying her, I think, with the Grapple line.
05:58I think it just adds for a little bit more shelf appeal.
06:00I'm all for shelf appeal.
06:03Let's go ahead and get that out of her hand right now.
06:06Okay, so getting a closer look at Stephanie Brown's Batgirl.
06:09Ideally, I would have really liked the Batgirl to have the cowl myself.
06:13I think, for me, that's really my favorite look for Stephanie Brown.
06:15I mean, I like at least respect the fact that Todd and his team decided to do something a little bit different.
06:20Because, again, like, we have so many Batgirls already.
06:22I mean, it's redundant to say that just Batmans and the Bat family as a whole probably,
06:27I mean, we're talking 85% earlier,
06:2985% of this collection line has been pretty much Batman and Batman-affiliated figures.
06:36And so, again, like, getting a Stephanie Brown that looks like this,
06:38I don't think necessarily is a bad thing.
06:40I just really would have liked to have a Stephanie Brown with the cowl myself.
06:44For the outfit that she has, or more so the body,
06:48to bring back in Cassandra Cain's Batgirl,
06:50it looks to be the exact same arms,
06:52the same shoulder, in fact.
06:54You can actually even see, if I hold both of them here,
06:57see, there's like this little V shape that's cut into the plastic.
07:01Both the figures do have that.
07:03Cassandra Cain's, though, did actually have a different forearm,
07:07so they would have had to use something different between the two figures that way.
07:10Same torso, so it has the same placement of the Bat logo,
07:13a Batgirl logo, same utility belt,
07:16and what seems almost to be the exact same legs.
07:19The only thing different, though, again, like the forearms,
07:21they would have had to use a different...
07:23Now, these lower legs were also the same ones that were used for,
07:26I think, actually, the Batgirl had it.
07:28The Build-A-Batmobile Batgirl had it.
07:30The Three Jokers Batgirl also had it.
07:33And Batwoman, Batwoman also used some of those element components here
07:37from Cassandra Cain, used it for her body as well.
07:39So, it's not really quite the same Batgirl boots.
07:42She gets a little bit different of a boot this time around.
07:45There's really a lot of borrowed-over body parts.
07:47The problem with that, though, is using borrowed-over body parts,
07:50sometimes you unfortunately have to rely not as much for the source material,
07:55because, again, if you're looking at the two,
07:56there are a few little luxuries that were taken.
07:59Primarily, like, for example, the Bat logo,
08:02if you look at the two, really is too large for her torso.
08:05It should be a little bit smaller.
08:07She does also have a completely different utility belt.
08:10She has pockets on the sides,
08:12but she doesn't have, like, the big Bat logo in the middle.
08:15And one thing, too, missing is she doesn't have the straps on the legs,
08:18but probably the thing you'll notice right away before I mention anything else,
08:22well, she also doesn't have the band on her arm, too,
08:24but is that they didn't paint the kneecap.
08:27Like, the kneecap on this only just has the black plastic.
08:31If, really, they did want to match this correctly to the original source material,
08:35technically, really, the boot should have gone higher up.
08:38So this is obviously a sculpt that they've used from another figure.
08:41Just off the top of my head, I can't remember which one it was.
08:44But had they only really just painted the purple all the way up,
08:47and then painted, or even just molded it in the purple plastic,
08:51had the kneecap also in the same plastic color, too,
08:53I think you would have also landed a much closer likeness
08:56to the way she appears in the comics.
09:00One thing, though, that's neat, though, about the hood
09:02is that you can actually take it off.
09:04Now, the hood is just fabric, obviously,
09:05and it has a wire running around the rim of it.
09:08But if you peel it away, though,
09:10you can actually see Stephanie Brown's face.
09:12Most of her face, at least.
09:14From what we at least see of it,
09:15I actually think the eyes are pretty.
09:17I think the way they've sculpted the hair looks nice, too.
09:19And I do think that the ponytail,
09:21well, maybe it'd probably be hard
09:24to maybe do this figure's mold again,
09:27unless maybe the mask was a separate molded piece.
09:29Or if they had retooled it,
09:31I think that would be making a perfect Harleen Quinzel,
09:34maybe just prior to becoming Harley Quinn.
09:36That's a head sculpt I certainly would like
09:38to see them use again,
09:39which, mind you, obviously, without the mask.
09:42Is it good a looking head for what it is?
09:44Yeah.
09:45Still, I really would have liked to have the cowl,
09:46but I'm not going to keep pushing forward,
09:48saying, like, just, I want this.
09:49I would like this.
09:50I mean, again, like, we get ourselves a different take to Batgirl.
09:53This one, again, you can either have her displayed
09:55with or without the hood.
09:56And with the wire built in the way it is,
09:58you can also have it a little bit lower down.
10:01Or again, you can also manipulate it, too.
10:02So you can look at it.
10:04I don't know why anyone in their right mind
10:06would ever display the figure like that.
10:07But just with a wire built in like this,
10:09you can do a little bit more than just fabric alone.
10:12The cape also does have a wire running down on this side.
10:16And if you flip around to the other side,
10:19she also has a wire built in this, too.
10:21Just recently, we also looked at the No Man's Land Batman.
10:24In fact, this week we did.
10:26And to look at this,
10:27and then to go back and look at Batman's cape alone,
10:29I don't know.
10:31I still feel like they left the wire off.
10:32It probably was something that was planned.
10:35I don't know what reason it was,
10:36but they ended up leaving the wire completely off.
10:38I think the wire always really does add a lot more to the figure,
10:41especially when it comes to displaying them.
10:42I mean, again, you can just bend the wire frame up on the cape
10:48and display it any which way you want.
10:50I'm just sort of phoning it in right now,
10:51but at least you get the idea.
10:54Yeah, again, while I think some maybe luxuries were made
10:57just for the basis of using the same body,
11:00I think for the most part,
11:01it reads enough like Batgirl.
11:03I don't think it's that bad of a figure.
11:05At least we get ourselves a new head sculpt.
11:07And again, whatever they may have Frankensteined together
11:10with several different Batgirls, 85% at least of that
11:14seems to be Cassandra Cain's.
11:16For the figure's articulation, no.
11:18We're going to move back again, peel back the hood,
11:21as I did certainly want to show you.
11:22There's a fair bit of luxury that you can actually do with her head.
11:26The head's on a ball joint,
11:27and it looks a lot lower than I expected it to do.
11:30Now, the head can look up, but it can only look so far.
11:33Head can also rock back and forth too.
11:36And again, technically, you really could rotate it
11:38all the way around if you want.
11:39The upper torso for Stephanie is on a ball joint,
11:42so you can easily rotate that around.
11:44The lower abdomen is also on a ball joint.
11:46You can rotate it that way too.
11:48The arms rotate all the way around.
11:50You can hinge them out like you could before with Batgirl,
11:53more than just a T-pose.
11:55That's almost even a Y-pose.
11:56The figure does have bicep swivel.
11:58It does, yeah.
11:59It does also have a double hinge in the elbow,
12:01and the hands rotate all the way around.
12:03Legs, split, split, split, but split that far.
12:07Ratcheted joints work behind the scenes.
12:09There is a little bit of a swivel.
12:11Not too much, though, but just enough to know it's there.
12:14It's just like a friend.
12:15It's not always there, but you know it's there when you need it.
12:20Oh, that's just friendship.
12:22Double hinge on the knee.
12:26The knees, nice enough to know, at least are pretty tight,
12:29even though this body's been borrowed around before.
12:31Stop that, everybody.
12:33The knees, luckily, aren't super loose.
12:36There is no articulation here for the lower boot.
12:38That is just one continued sculpt from the rest of the calf.
12:41She does, however, have an ankle pivot.
12:43I just pinched my...
12:44Ooh, ouch.
12:45Just pinched myself in between.
12:47Really be careful, though.
12:48I mean, especially getting your finger in here.
12:50You don't want to bend back the foot and get your fingers stuck in there.
12:53Don't want to do it in the front, either.
12:55Rock back and forth, it does, does the ankle.
12:57And you can also ankle pivots of toe pivots.
13:00The figure does have toe articulation as well.
13:04I don't know.
13:05Like, Stephanie Brown, for me, like, I would...
13:07In one camp, on one end of it, I'm thinking to myself,
13:10you know what?
13:10I'm glad that they at least did something different.
13:12Because every time we do get ourselves a backer, what is it ever?
13:15It's always just really a character that has a cowl.
13:18And again, that's not a bad thing at all.
13:20If you kind of go in there wanting a backer,
13:21I don't think you're wrong to say to yourself,
13:23hey, you know, I really would like to have a backer that has a cowl.
13:27I mean, that's been done certainly enough times that it is nice.
13:31It is nice that we do get ourselves a little bit different of a Stephanie Brown.
13:34That said, though, I do hope we eventually get ourselves a regular Stephanie Brown
13:38or the way that she looked with the cowl.
13:41The costume obviously does change a little bit, too.
13:43But having the purple and the blue was one thing, though,
13:46that Stephanie Brown's backer did really well.
13:48There was a DC Direct Reborn, I think it was Reborn Series 1,
13:52where we got a Stephanie Brown backer.
13:54That might be something as an example.
13:56I would love to see them released with a future figure.
13:59That might, though, just be the only time that we're going to be getting a Stephanie Brown.
14:02If this is the only time that we get this character from the comics,
14:06at least she was done differently from a backer you normally expect to see.
14:10Well, for you, a few seconds, it's 25 minutes later for me.
14:14And in that 25 minutes, if you were wondering really what I was doing,
14:17I was going through my totes looking for that one Batgirl.
14:20Finally, finding Art of the Crime Batgirl or the one that was part of the Build the Batmobile
14:24in the early days.
14:26We're talking years ago of the McFarland Toys.
14:29That Batgirl, sure enough, did include the grapple line and the exact same Batarang.
14:33That figure, by the way, too, also uses the exact same body as the Cassandra Cain,
14:39short of, except for one thing, the top of the torso.
14:42Her torso, though, had a much larger kind of Bat logo that went from one shoulder to the other.
14:48Neither of the Batgirls that we used in the examples here for this review are using that torso piece.
14:54But for at least this figure, you're getting a lot of the Cassandra Cain being used again.
14:58And that means, unfortunately, again, some luxuries, some few luxuries were maybe made
15:03where the costume isn't 100% correct to the way she appears in the comics.
15:07Is that necessarily a bad thing?
15:09Some would say, yeah, yeah, it kind of is.
15:11Like, if you're really going to be releasing a plastic figure of a certain way that a character looks,
15:16you have to land that likeness from head to toe.
15:19I mean, to look at this, at least the colors are there.
15:22She does have herself the hood and the cape.
15:24And I think I can get away with overlooking a few, a little few things that were maybe missed while producing this figure.
15:31Because, again, like, they're using the plastic mold from another previous Batgirl.
15:35If it does mean we get ourselves a Stephanie Brown Batgirl, whether it be the look that I like of her,
15:41at least we can say we finally have a character of her in plastic.
15:45Speaking, though, of Cassandra, well, speaking of Stephanie Brown Batgirl,
15:49I always really kind of thought that Sidney Sweeney would be a perfect fit for if they ever did a Stephanie Brown Batgirl.
15:55I mean, I don't know really what James Gunn has planned when it comes to moving forward with the DC Universe or DC Filmverse.
16:02We already know we're going to be getting a Batman.
16:04Likely, though, we are going to have a Robin in it.
16:06If we do have ourselves a Batgirl, I would think, though, that Gunn is going to go right away to probably doing Barbara Gordon.
16:13I can't think that he's going to jump right away to have a Cassandra Cain or a Stephanie Brown, for that matter.
16:19If they do end up making a film version of Batgirl in the new James Gunn universe,
16:24what version, what incarnation of Batgirl would you like to see?
16:28You want to go back to the OG of having Barbara Gordon,
16:30or would you like to have somebody else wear the cape and the cowl?
16:34Again, if you guys are interested to get this one for yourself,
16:36I did grab the Stephanie Brown Batgirl over on the Facebook selling group.
16:40I did. No fooling.
16:42And I got that from Popeye the Toy Man.
16:45If you guys are interested, a little tired of me always doing that,
16:49but if you guys certainly are interested to check out the wares that he has available,
16:52click the link down below in the video description.
16:54In the meantime, though, if you guys did enjoy this video, you can do it a solid and hit it with a like.
16:58You guys want to stick around for more so?
17:00Yeah, I hope so.
17:01I don't know how much more DC Multiverse we really, though, have coming your way for the rest of this week.
17:07I certainly, though, tell you there's a lot more videos for the rest of this remainder.
17:10As always, guys, thanks for watching.
17:12See you guys next time.
