00:00An earthquake has hit and everybody's left Gotham, including Batman.
00:04Here's a look at the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse, McFarlane Toys Digital, Batman No Man's Land, Batman.
00:30Following an earthquake, Gotham becomes a war zone.
00:33It's up to Batman and his allies to restore law and order in one of the Dark Knight's greatest epics.
00:38Batman better hurry and come back. Joker's already buying signs that say Jokerville.
00:41Before that, we get a closer look at the Batman No Man's Land Batman.
00:44What we're going to do first, as we always tend to do here when we start out these reviews, is I'm going to take this tape measure of mine.
00:50Some have asked, whereabouts did I buy this tape measure?
00:53The answer is Amazon. You can buy everything off of Amazon.
00:56As the tape measure is about to tell us, though, Batman from No Man's Land stands at 7 1⁄4 inches in height.
01:02That's including the rather tall points that he has on the tops of his cowl.
01:06Or it's going to also translate to a figure that's 18 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
01:10Oh, did Batman do something new to his body? No.
01:13No, in fact, actually, it's the same Batman body as the Nightfall Batman.
01:16So if you're already then familiar with this look of the mold, then you'll pretty much be familiar as well with this Batman.
01:21This is, though, the first time that he's borrowed that body.
01:23Bringing some other examples as well.
01:25Here's the Silver Age release of him.
01:27It's all the same.
01:29It's also as well the same when we bring in Detective Comics No. 587 Batman.
01:33This would have that really weird thing where you could pop off the cloth cape and swap it out with a molded cape instead.
01:39Let's change out maybe the molds just a little bit.
01:41A much bigger looking Batman.
01:42Here's Batman Year 2.
01:44It's the strange one, though, that Batman does have, obviously, a little gun on the front of his body.
01:49That's accurate to the comics.
01:50So, you know, before you start looking at that, thinking, hey, Batman doesn't do that.
01:53Batman did do that at least at one point.
01:56Here's also as well Batman from Rebirth.
02:00Technically, yeah, it's using still the same body.
02:02One Batman body, though, that is completely different, as we've already discussed with his rather short arms.
02:07I mean, here in the back, obviously, is No Man's Land Batman.
02:10Off to the side over here is the Silver Age release.
02:13There's the Batman Year 2.
02:14Of course, we have to also bring in Batman from Year 1.
02:17No Man's Land tells the tale of Gotham City and its citizens experiencing an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6.
02:24The U.S. government then enforces that the citizens of Gotham City have to evacuate the city.
02:29And to prevent any strayers from wandering back into the city streets, they blow up the bridges.
02:33It does kind of sound a little bit like Batman Begins, doesn't it?
02:36Of course, the only thing that really is getting left off here is Scarecrow and his fear toxin.
02:40Of course, then the criminals take over and just become, it basically becomes just a war zone.
02:45And it's what's funny, though, about that is that Batman comes included with cards.
02:48No, that's not really necessarily the funny thing.
02:50I do actually like the artwork on the front of the card.
02:53What's weird, though, is on the back of the card, the only mention that they make of this,
02:56it says following an earthquake, Gotham becomes a war zone.
02:58And it's up to Batman and his allies to restore law and order in one of Dark Knight's greatest epics.
03:04What it actually fails to mention, though, the card that is, is that Bruce Wayne actually leaves this city
03:08to the point where actually even Commissioner Gordon loses faith that Batman may never come back.
03:13It's actually at that time, I'm just going to reach off to the side here,
03:16that Honduras actually steps up to plate and actually poses as Batgirl at one point
03:20to deal with the criminals that are taking over the city.
03:23Joker wants to turn the place into Joker City.
03:26Penguin's even getting in there as well.
03:28But yet the card makes no mention of that.
03:30It's really actually quite very generic.
03:32Let's move that off to the side.
03:34I don't know why I felt the need to bring in Huntress.
03:35Just the fact that she was actually getting just her to stand.
03:39She was actually making the majority of the story.
03:42I feel like they should have made some mention of that on the back of the card.
03:47With all that, let's actually move her out of the way.
03:49The other thing that he also comes included with, though, is the McFarlane Toys digital card.
03:53Oh, I'm sure you already are familiar with these.
03:55If you're not, though, you can go to www.mtd.gg to download the McFarlane Toys digital viewer app for your Mac or PC.
04:03Scratch the above, which is what I'm about to do.
04:07And then you can also then redeem the code.
04:09First, you have to create an account and log in.
04:11Click the redeem code at the top left corner of the screen and follow the instructions in the pop-up window.
04:16Now, I'm not going to do all the things I'm telling you to go to the site.
04:19I'm not going to do this on my screen.
04:21I don't have an imaginary screen right here.
04:23But what I will do, though, I'm going to take my knife here, and we're just going to scratch away.
04:29Now, feel free. Use the code if you'd like.
04:32You don't have to necessarily even say, you know, if you were the one that were lucky enough to redeem the code,
04:37I wouldn't want pitchforks and torches chased after you.
04:40But yeah, there's the code. Feel free to use it if you'd like.
04:43Moving on off to the side, though, Batman does also come included with a display stand.
04:46And the stand, being that it is McFarlane Toys Digital, does all the things that normal stands would do,
04:52other than it just now includes, though, the logo down below.
04:55This, I guess, hexagonal? Is that a hexagonal?
04:57One, two, three, four, five, six.
05:00Hexagonal. That shaped McFarlane Toys logo.
05:03And, of course, you've got McFarlane Toys Digital right next to that.
05:06Nothing really at all changes, so, of course, it still has the peg.
05:08It plugs into either one of Batman's boots.
05:10I'm not going to waste a whole lot of time talking about that or showing that.
05:13Those that have already collected DC Multiverse figures already know that's part of it.
05:16What's also part of the territory, it seems, for Batman, is that the figure does have some swappable hands.
05:22Technically, I've already taken the liberty of swapping up the hand.
05:25This one right over here, just so the figure could actually hold his Batarang.
05:28These hands, as well as the hands that he has right now, are, in fact, mirror copies to what the Dark Knight,
05:34or the Nightfall, Nightfall Batman.
05:38For all the times I actually bring this figure in, I'm surprised.
05:41Slap on my hand. Bad job, bad job.
05:43Forgetting the guy's name.
05:44But, yeah, Nightfall Batman had the exact same hand, so there's nothing at all that's different between, really, these two figures.
05:49The only thing, really, that they have done differently is that this does actually have a logo that's on the chest.
05:55If you run your finger across this, it doesn't actually feel.
05:59Batman doesn't really like the idea of you rubbing your finger across his chest.
06:02There is actually no sculpted logo, whereas the Nightfall Batman did have that.
06:05And this one also does have a brand new belt.
06:08Anyways, what were we talking about?
06:09We're talking about hands.
06:10These hands can be swapped out.
06:12It's just a case of holding onto the hands that he has, popping them off the pegs, find the hand that you want to then use.
06:17And I say, find the hand.
06:19Whoa, where'd the hand go?
06:20Hand went, boom, right over there.
06:24I hope the Gremlin can fetch it.
06:26Okay, we're going to go back to what we had before.
06:29That came out of nowhere.
06:31If you did, though, want to swap out the hand, let's maybe try it on this side.
06:35We're going to swap out the hand.
06:36Careful holding onto it this time.
06:38There we go.
06:39Plugging in place.
06:40Gremlin, can you go fetch the fist when you have a chance?
06:43Okay, he's apparently on lunch right now.
06:45Yeah, the hands are easy to swap out.
06:47I guess easy to also fling across the room.
06:51I can't even see it.
06:52It's probably gone into the black hole.
06:55I still have the black hole.
06:56The figure does also have also a batarang.
06:59Right away, I will say the batarang is a good size.
07:02That's an average size batarang.
07:03It doesn't look like it's overly large.
07:05Batman in the past has had these large, almost mustache-sized...
07:10Well, if you had a big, giant mustache, I guess.
07:12Large mustache-shaped, almost boomerangs.
07:16This one is a little bit smaller in size.
07:18I guess technically a batarang is a boomerang, isn't it?
07:20This one's a little bit smaller in size.
07:21It's a modest batarang, and that's really what we need.
07:25This just basically will plug into his hands.
07:27Just like that.
07:28I kind of do really wish that these figures could have had more accessories than just
07:33always a batarang.
07:34Do we always really have to go back to the idea of the basics with a batarang?
07:37Anyways, the figure does at least have that.
07:39And the batarang at least matches the color of his cape, the boot, the trunks, and his cowl.
07:44Let's take that away for right now.
07:46I'm getting a closer look.
07:46Speaking of cowl, let's get a closer look at No Man's Land Batman.
07:50Now, it doesn't necessarily have to be the late 90s Batman.
07:53This could easily be a good stand-in for just a Batman on your shelf.
07:56The head sculpt, for the most part, does look good.
07:59I'm going to bring in again the Nightfall Batman, which now I do remember his name.
08:03The head sculpts clearly are going to be different from one another.
08:06Would this be a good successor to perhaps the original Batman?
08:10I don't know.
08:11I still think that the Dark Knight might do things a little bit better.
08:14I mean, this one has a little bit longer of a face.
08:16I will say one thing that does kind of take a little away from this Batman.
08:20I can't help but look at this and feel like the face or the skin tone.
08:24Maybe they didn't need a second coat of paint.
08:27It almost does look like it's a little lighter on the side here, lighter down by the chin.
08:31And it's noticeably lighter as it gets closer to the cowl.
08:35Adding maybe just another coat of paint probably could have gone a little bit longer here.
08:39I would love maybe to see what this figure could have also been done.
08:41We did get a Nightfall Batman that did have the cell shading.
08:44I think this cowl could work really well with a cell-shaded look for maybe a convention exclusive.
08:50One can't also help but look at this Batman body.
08:52I think he does also very much look like the Detective Comics Batman.
08:56Although the logo is a little higher on this one.
08:58You can see it's also using a completely different utility belt.
09:02But again, basically, the gloves, the arms, the lower legs, and even the boots are exactly the same.
09:07This Batman had to rely, though, on two types of cape.
09:10The larger molded cape and a fabric cape.
09:13Now, this fabric cape did actually have quite the wingspan, but it was always prone to popping off.
09:18I've already done a review of it, if you certainly would like to check.
09:19I love, by the way, I interrupted my own train of thought.
09:22I really like the logo, though, on the Batman Detective Comics release.
09:26This one looks good still.
09:27I feel like it's a little lower on his chest.
09:29It probably could have been better to have this just a little bit higher.
09:33But if you run your finger across this, it's not like a rub sign from Transformers.
09:38It is actually printed on his chest.
09:41It does almost kind of even feel like maybe it does have a little of a ledge.
09:46No, I don't think it does.
09:47It's probably like a decal that they put on there.
09:50Not one that I'm sure you could scratch away.
09:52I guess you probably could scratch away if you're aggressive enough with it.
09:55But all in all, it's a nice looking Batman.
09:57I have real no issues necessarily with it.
09:59I kind of do feel like the skin tone around his mouth could have maybe been just a little bit darker.
10:04It does kind of look like there's a little bit of the blue bleeding through.
10:08Speaking of the blue, though, I do like the use of this blue that they chose for the cowl, the gloves, the underoos, and, of course, his bat boots down below.
10:16One thing I've noticed, though, about Batman is the material looks good.
10:20It's kind of actually the same style of material that they used for the Adam West Batman cape.
10:24Yet, though, what's missing is a wire.
10:27Now, if you look at the wire or where the wire should have really been, there's clearly a seam line right here.
10:32Let's just bring the cape out here.
10:34There seems to definitely be a seam line right along here.
10:38And if you look on the end of the cape, there is an opening.
10:41It looks like a drinking straw.
10:43I would think, though, this probably was intended to have a wire that went right through this and they would have sewn off the ends.
10:49I don't know if it was just a budget reason that they chose not to include the cape.
10:52Maybe at the last minute, Todd just decided that a naturally draping cape worked a little bit better for Batman.
10:57I mean, really, though, with the way that they've seamed this, they've kind of ironed this in a way that the cape naturally folds in on itself.
11:05So if you don't really like the fact that it does have this visible opening or gap space, you basically just can fold the cape in.
11:12It's a little on the crease side.
11:14I do think the material works really quite well.
11:16And I think, again, like the blue, it matches pretty close to the cowl and everything else we mentioned before.
11:21One thing this Batman does do differently also is the figure does also have a new utility belt.
11:26Much larger pockets there on the sides.
11:28I feel like this pocketed utility belt was probably used before.
11:32It is, though, a separate piece.
11:34So if you actually moved your finger in here, you can actually lift this up from the trunks underneath.
11:40So that is a newly sculpted piece.
11:42I'm just not 100% sure, though, if this is one that's been used exactly or unique to this Batman or if it was, in fact, borrowed over from a previous Batman.
11:51Colors of the dark gray look really good on the figure as well.
11:54It does kind of remind me, like, was it Task Force Batman?
11:57Kind of the darker colors, the video game Batman.
11:59Yeah, I don't know. It's a good-looking Batman.
12:02The only thing, again, it just seems so weird that looking at his cave, it does definitely look like there should have really been a wire fed through there.
12:11For the figure's articulation, though, if you're familiar with, really, all this Batman body that we've gotten how many times before,
12:16then this Batman body will do the exact same thing.
12:19Head's going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate all the way around.
12:23It's going to look down really quite low, too.
12:25It's going to look up, and you can also move it back and forth as well.
12:28The upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
12:31It does have a good bit of motion and movement to it.
12:34The lower abdomen also does the same.
12:36Arms rotate all the way around.
12:38You can take Batman's arms and pull them at a T-pose or a 90-degree angle bend.
12:42The figure does also have a swivel in his bicep, double hinge in the elbow.
12:46I know this is always something we always cover at this point in the review.
12:49And the hands do rotate all the way around, even the one that shot across the room.
12:54It's right over.
12:55Who am I kidding? I can't even see it.
12:57But legs do split out.
12:58They're on ratcheted joints.
12:59The top of the leg does swivel back and forth, just a little bit, just a little bit.
13:03Double hinge on the knee.
13:04No articulation again down below for the boot.
13:07Territory that we've already covered before.
13:09Ankle pivot.
13:10Ankle rocker.
13:11And the figure does also have toe articulation as well.
13:14Worth picking this figure up?
13:15I would say so.
13:16I mean, it's not just a case, though, even though they have really used this body to death.
13:21At least it's a body that worked already for Batman in the past.
13:24I mean, how many times, again, have we already gotten this Batman?
13:26Let's just bring in, again, some of those examples.
13:30Silver Age Batman.
13:31Nightfall Batman.
13:33The one in the middle.
13:34No Man's Land Batman.
13:35All pretty much the same Batman with a different color of paints.
13:39A different color of plastic, I really should say.
13:41So, like, this one, again, is very similar to the Detective Comics Batman, which so happened
13:46to have also used the exact same body.
13:48I think one thing that they could have maybe done to improve the figure is maybe just paint
13:52the lower mouth just a little bit darker.
13:54I don't know.
13:55Something...
13:55It almost does seem like there's blue bleeding through the face.
13:58And I think it probably could have been a little bit darker.
14:00One thing, though, I really think could work well with using this head sculpt is maybe
14:05release another version of this guy where they could have had the shadowing, the shadowing
14:09all across the front of his face where around his eyes would be.
14:12A cel-shaded version, at least, of the cowl would work really well, I think, with this new
14:16mold of the head sculpt.
14:18While, again, it's still pretty much the same Batman body, I don't necessarily even feel
14:22that looking at this, it reminds me of No Man's Land Batman.
14:26I mean, again, like, this is No Man's Land Batman.
14:29Does it look a lot like him?
14:31I feel like maybe the ears are a little too long.
14:33The body, I suppose, is pretty close.
14:37I think actually the Batman symbol is just a little bit different also.
14:40But I think it's just a good stand in Batman.
14:42Like, if you have been looking for Batmans, and maybe you have had, like, the Nightfall
14:47Batman, and you just wanted to really have an upgrade to that, I think what we're now
14:51getting with No Man's Land is a good successor to that.
14:54My only one real thing, though, is looking at it.
14:56I don't know why they left the wire off, unless maybe they just had planned to do
15:01that the whole time, deliberately adding, though, a seam line, a sew line, so that it
15:06just finished the cape.
15:07So it didn't really necessarily have to have a wire.
15:09But I feel like looking at it, and especially seeing the hole on the ends, I feel like a
15:13wire was always really intended.
15:15For one reason or another, they chose to scrap it.
15:18Don't let the box or the card deter you from picking up No Man's Land Batman if you're
15:22not familiar with the source material.
15:23It doesn't necessarily have to be tied directly to that comic run.
15:27In fact, if you just want really a good-looking Batman, I think the one we get from No Man's
15:31Land is a good stand-in.
15:33I mean, the more that I look at this, the more I think I really like the dark gray and
15:37the dark blue.
15:37It was really one problem I had with the Nightfall Batman, and my problems with Nightfall
15:41Batman are a very small list.
15:43Maybe just a bit of a darker gray could have really helped that figure.
15:46A darker blue could have also really worked as well.
15:49And really, the No Man's Land Batman does all those things that I really wish the original
15:54Nightfall could do.
15:55It does also have a fabric cape, so right away there's points for that.
15:58It's strange though that still Todd and his team left the wire off the cape.
16:02Because the more I keep looking at it, the more I think that that was seen the way it
16:06was.
16:07Because a wire was supposed to be intended to be in the cape.
16:09And yet, they just chose to leave it off.
16:12Some really don't like a wire built into a cape because it just makes the cape cumbersome.
16:16Some really like a wire, because it gives you at least a chance to pose the figure and
16:20put the cape in a way that you want it.
16:22As you see right now, I don't have a wire in there, but just draping it over Batman's
16:26body the way that I've got it does give him a really cool, creepy look.
16:30Now, the look of Batman also can be pulled off too by the figure having the Batarang.
16:34It unfortunately is one of the continued problems that really do face Batman.
16:39That and the fact that, yeah, we get another one of them.
16:41Batman always tends to have a Batarang.
16:44Two fists and a Batarang.
16:45So it's part of the territory, again, that this one covers as well, even though there's
16:49nothing really new to cover other than just a brand new head sculpt, fabric cape, and
16:53utility belt.
16:54Those three things still amount to a Batman that, even if you have already this body on
17:00your shelf, you're probably not that bothered by picking it up again.
17:04If you guys are, by the way, interested to pick this one up, I did grab this from the
17:08Facebook selling group, and yeah, you guessed it, Popeye the Toy Man.
17:11Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
17:14Speaking of Popeye the Toy Man, yeah, we're actually going to be looking at a couple of
17:17other DC multiverse figures that I've picked up from him as of late.
17:21In the meantime, though, let me know what you guys think down below of Batman No Man's
17:24Land Batman.
17:26Just bored already by this Batman body?
17:28Or do you think that this Batman body works really well with this release of him?
17:32Let me know what you think of it down below.
17:34And if you guys did, by the way, enjoy this video, you can do it a solid throw to like.
17:38You guys want to stick around for more so?
17:40I hope so.
17:41I hope so.
17:42The Gremlin, by the way, I asked him earlier, could you just fetch the fist that I flung
17:46over there?
17:47And he's basically now claimed it for himself.
17:51He's got sharp claws, and it looks like he's got himself really nasty looking teeth.
17:56Just because of that, I think I can just let it slide this time, Gremlin.
18:00You can have the fist.
18:02The next one, though, you're going to have to give it back to me.
18:05Or not.
18:06As always, guys, thanks for watching.
18:09See you guys next time.
