00:00This is Butch Bertolomeo, the business mentor blog.
00:27Okay. And again, it's another Sunday morning.
00:32Today, we have a very interesting guest who is trying to build a community,
00:38who is trying to have an advocacy.
00:40What she learned when she was probably exposed in the Metro Manila,
00:45she's now trying to transfer it in her hometown in Isabella.
00:50So again, a young entrepreneur with a big heart for students,
00:56especially those who are probably trying to find out who they are
00:59and where they want to go, and probably an advocacy.
01:03So let's introduce Ms. Prima, Donna Guevara.
01:07Prima, good morning. Good Sunday to you.
01:10Good morning, Sir Boots, and thank you for inviting me on your program.
01:14And of course, good morning to all. Happy Sunday.
01:19Thank you so much for being here.
01:21So Prima, you have this advocacy, okay?
01:26And we are here in Business Mentor Blog over Manila Times.
01:30And why have an advocacy?
01:33You are such a young lady.
01:35You're full of, you know, your bright future.
01:39You are working in Metro Manila.
01:42You're an accountant, I believe, right?
01:44You're a certified public accountant.
01:46Why establish an advocacy?
01:49And what is this advocacy all about?
01:52Oh, because I've already been there.
01:55Kasi before po, I don't have anyone who will teach me how to do things,
02:00how to do things the right way.
02:03And nagkaroon ako ng mga issues,
02:06nagkaroon ako ng problems on how I'm going to make decisions.
02:10Kasi nga, walang nag-guide sa akin.
02:11And I remember, I was just 22 that time.
02:16And still, figuring things out after college,
02:19ano ba ito, ano ba yung pwedeng mangyari.
02:22And I've, ano, kumbaga parang nahirapan po ako
02:26na maghanap ng tao o ng mga tao na pwedeng makatulong sa akin
02:30as of the moment.
02:31And of course, given na rin na nandito ako sa probinsya,
02:35hindi ganun ka-accessible yung mga tao na kakilala ko at that time.
02:40And I believe, nasa ano din po kami nun,
02:43nasa ano po tayo nun,
02:45nasa mid ng pandemic.
02:47So, imagine, paano ko ma-access yung mga tao
02:51na makakatulong sa akin,
02:54eh ang layo-layo ko.
02:55At the same time, pandemic.
02:57So, yun po yung ano sa akin,
02:58naging struggle ko before.
02:59That's why sabi ko, one day,
03:01if I'm going to acquire the knowledge na,
03:03and I already have this experience and wisdom,
03:07I will share it.
03:08That's why, ano po talaga ako,
03:11eh, kumbaga parang nandun po yung puso ko
03:13on yung paano ko tutulungan yung tao
03:16to grow themselves and not to be stuck
03:18kung nandun po nasa naman sila.
03:21But you know, you think about it, ah,
03:23kasi karamihan yung mga nasa probinsya,
03:26once they go into the metropolis
03:28and they start working,
03:30even abroad, overseas,
03:33this is what older folks would say,
03:37the younger generation would not want to go back
03:41to the province.
03:42Pero ikaw, eh, mukhang contrary to what a lot of people,
03:46you know, having Metro Manila experience
03:49and then you're back to your province
03:52to make a difference.
03:53Ganun ba yun?
03:54Yes po, Sir Boots.
03:55Grabe, sobrang natumbok niyo yun.
03:58And the reason why is,
04:00yun nga po, gaya yung nasabi ko,
04:02ito'y nakita kong opportunity.
04:04It's a challenge for me before, eh.
04:05So right now,
04:06I'm seeing this as an opportunity
04:08for me to help other people,
04:11to give value,
04:12to serve,
04:13na hindi naman nangyayari dito sa,
04:17kung saan man po ako ngayon.
04:18Hindi po nangyayari dito.
04:19That's why,
04:20ang nangyayari po kasi, eh,
04:22kung ano lang yung alam ko kahapon,
04:23yun lang din yung alam ko ngayon.
04:25Bukas, panigurado,
04:26wala akong alam.
04:28No, plus,
04:29I think basically,
04:30Prima,
04:31yung technology nowadays
04:32is so rich,
04:33it's reachable, no?
04:34I mean,
04:35you don't have to be
04:36in the metropolis,
04:38into the urban area.
04:39You can be anywhere.
04:40You can be in your province.
04:42But again,
04:43carry out,
04:44di ba,
04:44communication.
04:45Kasi nung araw,
04:46di ba,
04:46yung angal pa rata,
04:47how can I learn?
04:48Because, you know,
04:49una-una,
04:50kuryente,
04:51panay brown,
04:52internet,
04:53hirap.
04:55Minsan,
04:56late na yung mga,
04:57nung araw,
04:57may mga jari-jari pa yan.
04:59Minsan,
05:00one day late,
05:01you know?
05:01But again,
05:02it's really in the mindset,
05:04no?
05:04You have a,
05:05you have a sort of like
05:06a growing,
05:07growth mindset.
05:09Is this because
05:10that you really found
05:11that need
05:12or the lack of,
05:14you know,
05:14having the right people
05:16to give you the right tools
05:17to start a business?
05:18Ganun ba yun?
05:19Is that what really propelled you?
05:22Yes,
05:23actually po.
05:24Sobrang true po nun
05:25because I've already,
05:27I've just started with a book
05:28but then,
05:29naghanap ako ng mga tao
05:30to really,
05:31to be surrounded by
05:33brilliant people
05:34just like you
05:35and other people
05:37as well na
05:37talagang may napatunayan
05:38na in terms of business.
05:40And that's when
05:40I found na
05:42there's an opportunity
05:43for me to share this,
05:45this kind of information
05:46as well.
05:47And sobrang naging
05:48grateful ako
05:49kasi
05:50yun nga po,
05:52nandito ako ngayon
05:53to share those
05:54kinds of
05:55experiences
05:56na na-experience ko.
05:57I guess
05:58for the past
05:59three,
06:00four years
06:00na ginagrow ko
06:01yung sarili ko,
06:02pwede naman po pala
06:03that yung mga
06:04iniisip ko na
06:05impossibility before,
06:07possible po talagang
06:08mangyari
06:09if you have also
06:10the right people
06:11beside you.
06:12Pero,
06:15okay,
06:15tell us more
06:16about the advocacy
06:17that you started now,
06:19creating that
06:20community in your
06:21province.
06:22Ano ba yan?
06:23Yes,
06:24actually,
06:24meron po akong
06:26community ngayon
06:27which is yung
06:27Let's Grow.
06:28It's not just about
06:29you earning profit,
06:32but at the same time,
06:33earning life as well.
06:35Kumbaga,
06:36nakalimutan po kasi
06:36natin na maging
06:37human being eh.
06:39Sometimes,
06:39it's over new things
06:41and now,
06:42we're just
06:43human doing.
06:44We keep doing
06:45things over and
06:46over,
06:47hard work,
06:48para lang po
06:49kumita ng pera,
06:50but then,
06:51we didn't realize
06:52that everything
06:53can be ease
06:53and flow as long
06:54as you are
06:55growing yourself.
06:57Yun po yung
06:57nakakalimutan.
06:57So,
06:58what's the name
06:58of the community?
06:59What's the name
07:00of the community again?
07:01I lost it.
07:02Let's Grow.
07:02Pagalan?
07:03Huh?
07:04Let's Grow
07:05Community.
07:06Let Grow.
07:07L-E-T
07:08Grow
07:09Community.
07:11Oo.
07:11So,
07:13parang tama ba?
07:14Yes,
07:14yes.
07:14Parang ini-invite nyo po
07:16sila ta,
07:16let's grow,
07:17parang ganun.
07:18Parang let grow,
07:19you know?
07:19In other words,
07:20up,
07:20you know,
07:21uplift,
07:21diba?
07:22So,
07:23ano yung,
07:23when they first
07:24launched it,
07:25was it an easy,
07:27easy task?
07:28Or,
07:29did you have an
07:29uphill climb?
07:31Oh,
07:31actually,
07:33this is all
07:34for contribution,
07:35sir,
07:35but as of the
07:36moment,
07:37lahat po,
07:38expenses
07:38is from
07:39my side,
07:41sponsored by,
07:42syempre,
07:42yung mga negosyo
07:43namin,
07:43but,
07:44you know,
07:45hindi ko na iniisip,
07:46ano pa yung makukuha ko dito,
07:48but then I just want to give value
07:50and to serve people.
07:51And I know,
07:52because I know that
07:54there's abundance,
07:55and
07:56in the future,
07:57kung saan man man gagaling
07:59yung kapalit nun,
08:00I don't know
08:00how,
08:01when,
08:01where,
08:02and what,
08:03in what form,
08:04but I know that
08:05there's going to be
08:06that kind of abundance
08:08that's going to
08:08flow over me.
08:10So,
08:10kaya po,
08:11yun yun,
08:12although the struggle
08:13is,
08:13the struggle is,
08:15paano ba to,
08:16sobrang libre na to,
08:17wala na silang gagastusin,
08:18are they going to
08:19appreciate it,
08:21or like,
08:21ma-appreciate ba nila na
08:22etong mga dinadala ko dito,
08:24eh,
08:25etong mga bagay na to,
08:26may makukuha ba silang value?
08:28Yun,
08:28yun lang po,
08:29kumbaga parang
08:30internal conversations
08:31with myself na,
08:32um,
08:33sige,
08:33uh,
08:34I'm going to do this,
08:35whatever it is na maging result,
08:37I'm not going to attach
08:38myself to it.
08:39And right now,
08:40it's doing,
08:41So,
08:41in other words,
08:41it's an investment
08:43that you're not looking
08:44for an ROI,
08:45like,
08:45I mean,
08:45you're talking like,
08:46you're putting a cap now
08:48as a CPA,
08:48right?
08:49I mean,
08:49you're investing,
08:50but again,
08:52uh,
08:52the CPA in you
08:54is asking,
08:55oh,
08:55eh,
08:56paano naman ang balik niyan,
08:57di ba?
08:57Parang ganun ba yun?
08:59Ganun ba yun?
08:59Your other self
09:00is actually asking you,
09:02invest ka nang invest,
09:04meron bang return yan,
09:06di ba?
09:07Yes,
09:08yes,
09:08mahirap,
09:09no?
09:09I mean,
09:09mahirap,
09:10no?
09:10You're trying to have an advocacy
09:12and here you are,
09:13you're trying to,
09:13you know,
09:14invest money,
09:16your talent,
09:16your time,
09:17your skill,
09:18you could be doing a lot,
09:19no?
09:20Pero,
09:20how successful was it,
09:23you know,
09:23when you started it?
09:25Are you gaining now,
09:27headway,
09:28nagkakaroon ba ng,
09:30sort of,
09:32dent in the community?
09:33Yeah,
09:35actually,
09:36up until now,
09:37sir,
09:37but if I'm going to be honest,
09:39still,
09:39nandun pa rin sa process
09:40and looking forward,
09:42syempre,
09:42dun sa magiging result niya
09:44kasi itong community na to,
09:46it's not just going to be,
09:48yun nga,
09:48hindi lang siya for
09:49profit-based,
09:51but then,
09:52it's part of a contribution,
09:53like,
09:54collective
09:54contribution
09:56ng isa't isa.
09:57So,
09:58that's how,
09:58that's what,
09:59that's,
10:00or sorry,
10:00that's how I want to,
10:03I want this community to,
10:04to,
10:06to go.
10:07Parang,
10:07hindi lang siya,
10:09okay,
10:09bigay ako ng bigay,
10:11and then,
10:11some people then,
10:12would like to share
10:14kung ano yung,
10:14kung ano yung mga expertise
10:16naman nila.
10:17So,
10:18yun.
10:18So,
10:19parang,
10:19parang they return something,
10:21but,
10:21is there any,
10:22or are there any people,
10:23group of people na,
10:25you have seen,
10:26the before and after,
10:28nagkaroon ba?
10:29Actually,
10:30meron,
10:30meron po mga nagtitank you,
10:33na may mga,
10:34may mga ganitong event,
10:35kasi,
10:36again,
10:37hindi ko po ito nakita dito sa lugar namin eh.
10:39Wala po talagang gumagawa ng ganito,
10:41and for free,
10:42wala pong gumagawa.
10:43So,
10:44people are thanking me na,
10:45buti may mga ganito,
10:47because they,
10:48they have an opportunity to,
10:50network with other people as well,
10:52and at the same time,
10:53kumbaga parang,
10:54mas lumalawak po yung pag-iisip nila.
10:57Not just in terms of business,
10:58but in life in general.
11:01So,
11:01like,
11:01what are you talking about?
11:02What do you,
11:03what do you share with the community?
11:05Can you give us an example?
11:06Ah,
11:07yun kasi po,
11:08bali parang,
11:08interview siya,
11:10with someone who is really successful.
11:12So,
11:13that person will also contribute,
11:14kung ano yung mga napagdaanan niya in life,
11:17ano yung mga naging secret niya,
11:19doing the business for about 20,
11:2120,
11:2120 years,
11:22mga ganyan.
11:23And then,
11:24of course,
11:24ako din naman po,
11:25sinasabi ko din kung ano yung mga naging experience,
11:28experiences ko in terms of the businesses that I've been handling at the moment.
11:33So,
11:34basically,
11:35you're trying from the grassroots,
11:37di ba?
11:37trying to say,
11:40hey,
11:40all these people that I invite,
11:43they all started from ground zero.
11:45Yes.
11:46But they started to grow.
11:48Ganun ba yun?
11:48Yes, yes.
11:49Dahan-dahan.
11:50Hindi yung,
11:51hindi yung one time big time,
11:53you know,
11:53yung ganun, no?
11:54So,
11:55but,
11:56it's,
11:56it really,
11:56you're trying to aim and hit the mind and the heart,
11:59no?
12:00To inspire them,
12:01correct?
12:02You're sort of lighting a fire,
12:04no?
12:05A fire of zeal,
12:06a fire of hope.
12:07Parang,
12:08that's the way I look at it,
12:09no?
12:10So,
12:10the fact that you have the let grow,
12:13kumbaga,
12:13kung ayaw mo lumaki,
12:14don't join me,
12:15no?
12:15In other words,
12:16you want to join me,
12:18be part of the let grow,
12:20right?
12:20Let grow.
12:21So,
12:22yun.
12:22So,
12:22so,
12:22yung,
12:24yung program mo is really working towards the physical,
12:28probably guiding college students who really don't know where they want to go,
12:34what kind of profession,
12:35or even seniors,
12:37you know,
12:38senior high,
12:39even probably retirees,
12:42no?
12:42Marami yan,
12:43no?
12:43Kasi marami nagre-retire sa probinsya,
12:45di ba?
12:46OFW,
12:47probably who carry,
12:49you know,
12:49big skills and talents abroad,
12:53no?
12:53So,
12:53you're trying to top them,
12:55di ba?
12:55Yes,
12:56actually,
12:56even po yung,
12:57ano,
12:58Sir Boots,
12:58even yung mga aspiring business owners who don't know what track to take,
13:03or kung sino ba yung pwede nilang itap.
13:06I mean,
13:07ayun,
13:08since I already have the experience din naman,
13:10and of course,
13:10the knowledge,
13:11and also,
13:12me developing myself up until now,
13:14actually,
13:15I just had my certification
13:17sa isang neuro-linguistic programming certification,
13:23and of course,
13:24American board certified na din.
13:25And,
13:26yeah,
13:26those things,
13:28those skills,
13:28and those expertise that I have,
13:30I can share with them
13:32in order for them to also grow their business
13:34because kung ano man po yung ginagawa ko sa negosyo namin,
13:38yun din po yung ituturo ko sa kanina.
13:41Yeah.
13:42In other words,
13:43you're not just talking,
13:44you're walking the talk.
13:46Yes,
13:46correct po.
13:47Di ba?
13:48Even coaching,
13:49yes,
13:51sir,
13:51both even coaching and mentoring yung mga employees namin.
13:54How am I handling these people?
13:56How am I developing them,
13:58empowering them to become,
14:00somehow,
14:01in the future,
14:02if God permits,
14:04become a business partner as well
14:05para,
14:07yun po,
14:07hindi siya hindi kami mahirapan din.
14:09And of course,
14:10yung mga business owners as well.
14:12I think,
14:13basically,
14:13Prima,
14:14you're also trying to,
14:16you know,
14:16help people focus
14:18rather than be distracted by scams.
14:21You know,
14:21alam mo naman,
14:22balitang balita,
14:23there are a lot of people are very,
14:25kumbaga,
14:26very easily scammed,
14:28very easily lured into quick reach,
14:33no work,
14:34no pain,
14:35you know,
14:35you don't have to work,
14:36you just have to keep on earning.
14:38Parang mga gano'n,
14:39and you're trying to focus people and say,
14:42hey,
14:42this is how we should do it.
14:44Kasi,
14:44masakit yung mga dal,
14:46masakit yung mga maloko ka,
14:47right?
14:48I mean,
14:48masakit yung pinag-ipunan mo,
14:50or,
14:51you're a college student,
14:53and you don't,
14:53you're given ill advice,
14:55no?
14:56Na,
14:56pagsisisir mo.
14:58So,
14:58I think,
14:58you're establishing that credibility.
15:01But,
15:01you're an entrepreneur.
15:04Okay?
15:04Yes,
15:04and you have,
15:06you're helping your family business.
15:08How is it to help the family business,
15:11Prima?
15:11At first po,
15:14syempre,
15:15nung wala talaga akong experience,
15:17it has been a rollercoaster ride,
15:19na,
15:20meron yung mga arguments,
15:22and you don't know how to handle them.
15:24But then,
15:25I'm glad that I grew myself,
15:28and,
15:28went to coaching,
15:29and,
15:30kung baga,
15:31nakipag-network sa ibang tao,
15:33ask for advice.
15:35And,
15:35of course,
15:35yun nga,
15:36sa mga,
15:36sa mga nagtuturo din,
15:38no?
15:38Sa mga mentors.
15:39I've learned how to handle conversations,
15:43right now.
15:44Kung,
15:44kung,
15:44ko compare ko po siya,
15:46before,
15:46wala talaga,
15:47sabog talaga before.
15:48But right now,
15:49ah,
15:50okay,
15:50there's a way.
15:52There's a right way,
15:53in order for you to handle business,
15:56and handle family,
15:57at the same time.
15:58So,
15:59yun,
15:59very glad to,
16:00to have that knowledge now,
16:02Sir Boots.
16:03So,
16:04maraming challenges,
16:05a family business,
16:06right?
16:07Yeah.
16:07What would be the most,
16:08what would be the most,
16:10memorable challenge,
16:11you have experienced?
16:12Wow,
16:13grabe.
16:15In terms of,
16:17mag-share na lang po ako,
16:18in terms of,
16:19how I handled the,
16:22the family,
16:23kasi,
16:24syempre,
16:24hindi naman po kami,
16:25at first,
16:26hindi naman kami pare-pareho,
16:27ng vision for the business.
16:29My,
16:29my,
16:30my,
16:30my mother just want us to,
16:33to,
16:33yeah,
16:34like,
16:35parang,
16:35have the business.
16:36But for me,
16:37I have a big,
16:38I have a bigger vision for it.
16:40And,
16:41yun nga,
16:41help other people as well.
16:43But,
16:44yeah,
16:44yung,
16:44kumbaga parang,
16:45meron po kasi yung time na,
16:47nag-away talaga kami.
16:49And,
16:50hindi,
16:51hindi,
16:51hindi siya naging madali for me.
16:53Because,
16:54ano ba,
16:54ako dito,
16:55magpapaka-anak ba ako,
16:56o magpapaka-negosyante?
16:59And,
16:59even with my brother as well,
17:01magpapakapatid ba ako,
17:03or,
17:04magiging ate ba ako,
17:05or,
17:06magiging negosyante?
17:07Because,
17:07yun nga po,
17:08kumbaga parang,
17:09since I had little knowledge back then,
17:12I didn't know what to do.
17:15Kaya,
17:15yun yung naging struggle lamin.
17:16In terms of,
17:17So,
17:17nagkahalo yung emotions,
17:19no?
17:19Yes po.
17:20Talaga na,
17:21kumbaga,
17:22the blood is thicker than anything,
17:24right?
17:25I mean,
17:25in other words,
17:26hoy,
17:26babae ka,
17:27hoy,
17:28bonsu ka,
17:29hoy,
17:30iwa ganun,
17:31di ba?
17:31So,
17:32here you are,
17:34an labo.
17:34How are you able to,
17:36to make the,
17:37the journey,
17:38medyo,
17:40easier to handle?
17:42Paano yun?
17:42It was,
17:43I can imagine how turbulent,
17:45you were in,
17:46di ba?
17:47Para wag naka,
17:48nasa typhoon number 10 ka ata,
17:50eh,
17:50no?
17:50Signal number 10.
17:53Gawin din ako ng question.
17:54Paano po,
17:54paano na hawi yun?
17:56I mean,
17:56that's a challenge,
17:57ah?
17:58Yes,
17:58very,
17:59a very,
18:00great challenge for me,
18:01because now,
18:02I grew myself nga po,
18:03and then,
18:04yung,
18:05how am I going to answer that question?
18:07Maybe,
18:08first of all,
18:09I raised my awareness.
18:11So,
18:12nung aware na ako,
18:13I let them become aware as well.
18:16So,
18:16yun na nga po,
18:17that time,
18:18hindi ko rin alam po anong gagawin ko,
18:20am I wrong,
18:20am I right?
18:21So,
18:22then,
18:22I decided to really explore,
18:24kung ano yung ginagawa ng ibang mga negosyante,
18:27how they're,
18:27kasi,
18:28naisip ko po that time,
18:29if,
18:30sa mga si,
18:31like,
18:32si na Henry C,
18:32how they're handling the,
18:34the people,
18:34how they're handling the,
18:35the family as well,
18:37and the business.
18:37So,
18:38sabi ko,
18:39if,
18:39if it's possible for them,
18:41it's possible for me too.
18:43And that's the time na I really seek advice,
18:46I really hang out with people who knows better than I do,
18:50and of course,
18:50I attended seminars,
18:52and I let them as well grow,
18:56na,
18:56kumbaga,
18:57parang,
18:58ang nangyari po dun,
18:59eh,
18:59ako muna yung pumasok sa pinto,
19:01and then,
19:02sinabi ko sa kanila na,
19:04maganda dito,
19:04pasok din kayo.
19:06So,
19:07that time,
19:07in other words,
19:10hindi mo,
19:10ulang,
19:11ulang pilitan.
19:12In other words,
19:12you convince them in,
19:15kumbaga,
19:16killing them softly,
19:17okay,
19:18by,
19:19kumbaga,
19:20convincing them
19:22with your persuasive moves,
19:24di ba?
19:25Kasi merong iba dyan,
19:26well,
19:27kung kaya nyo makinig sa akin,
19:28so be it,
19:28magkanya-kanya lang tayo.
19:30I mean,
19:30you have seen how
19:32some family businesses
19:33really started
19:34from the first generation,
19:37second generation,
19:38and then the third generation,
19:39wook,
19:40nag-split,
19:40no?
19:41Which is sad,
19:42no?
19:43Which is sad.
19:43Kasi,
19:44especially for parents,
19:45I'm sure,
19:46your parents really aim
19:48to establish the business for you,
19:50you know,
19:51for the children,
19:52and the generation to come,
19:54no?
19:54Pero maganda yung ginawa mo,
19:55at least,
19:56but was it easy?
19:58Was it an instant persuasion
20:00when you let them in?
20:03Or still,
20:04rocky road ko rin?
20:05Yeah.
20:06Actually,
20:07as you can see,
20:08I was smiling
20:09kasi remembering that
20:11moments,
20:12talagang hindi po siya
20:13naging madali eh.
20:14Hindi ko sinabi na,
20:15oh, sige,
20:16umatend lang kayo dito.
20:17There were arguments in between
20:18na parang,
20:19okay,
20:20or like parang negotiations
20:21in between that
20:22if I'm going to do this,
20:23you're going to do it.
20:24To do that,
20:25and then stuff like that.
20:26So,
20:26but then,
20:27yun nga po,
20:28hindi siya naging madali,
20:29pero napagusapan naman.
20:31It's really about
20:32the communication,
20:33how you're going to
20:33communicate with them as well.
20:35Correct.
20:35So,
20:36yun,
20:36yun.
20:36Maganda yun,
20:37no?
20:37Kasi,
20:38for example,
20:40family,
20:41yun yung,
20:42importante,
20:43yung bang carrying on
20:44the business,
20:45carrying on the legacy
20:47in the right way.
20:49kasi meron may mga tradition,
20:51right?
20:51I mean,
20:52we can't blame
20:53the older generation
20:55kasi ito yung sinimula nila eh.
20:57Ito yung kanilang environment eh,
20:58di ba?
20:59That's where they started eh.
21:01And probably,
21:02they started it
21:02from really scratch,
21:04you know,
21:04from zero.
21:05They had a lot of failures
21:07up and down,
21:07but
21:08they're sort of
21:09scared,
21:10no?
21:10to shake that
21:11concept,
21:13di ba?
21:13Parang,
21:13di ba,
21:14gano'n?
21:14Naintindihan mo yung parents mo na,
21:15yes.
21:16Bakit mo babagoyin ito?
21:18Ito yung nagpalaki sa'yo?
21:20Ito yung nagpa-aral sa'yo?
21:22Okay?
21:22Tapos,
21:23yayanigin mo?
21:24Sigurado ba yan?
21:26You know?
21:26Yung bang ganon,
21:26they're asking,
21:27are you sure?
21:29You know?
21:30Kung baga,
21:30they're handing the baton to you.
21:32Are you sure?
21:34Prima,
21:34you know?
21:35Talagang,
21:35baka malugi,
21:36you know?
21:37Yung pinaghirapan.
21:38Ganon ba yung nangyari sa inyo rin?
21:40Yes,
21:41actually,
21:41parang,
21:42the will is working.
21:43Why are you not?
21:44Why are you going to,
21:45to change it?
21:47Siguro,
21:47hindi ko po iti-change.
21:49It's just that,
21:50I will upgrade the will
21:52in order for it to become,
21:54to have a better performance.
21:56Parang ganon ko po kasi siya nakikita eh.
21:58You're not just passing me the torch.
22:00I'm going to light the torch much brighter.
22:04So,
22:04In your,
22:05yeah,
22:06in your business,
22:07no,
22:07as family,
22:08you also have to concern yourself
22:09with the siblings,
22:10no?
22:11There are a lot of,
22:12a lot of problems with siblings as well,
22:15right?
22:15For example,
22:16sometimes the eldest,
22:18the eldest is the one really dictating everything right and wrong,
22:21no?
22:22But again,
22:22the younger generation would say,
22:25eh,
22:25hindi,
22:25hindi tama eh.
22:27Maintaining that unity eh,
22:29no?
22:29I think that's another,
22:30another road,
22:32no?
22:32That you tackle,
22:33right?
22:34Yes po,
22:35yes po,
22:35tama po yun.
22:36Because,
22:36yun nga po yung sabi ko din sa mama ko,
22:38na sa mother ko,
22:39na nagturo sa amin din,
22:41kung paano din magnegosyo,
22:43sabi ko,
22:43ayaw ko na matigil lang sa amin,
22:45pareho kaming magaling.
22:47And,
22:47lagi ko pong nire-remind din yung brother ko,
22:49I'm,
22:50I'm the,
22:50I'm the oldest.
22:51So,
22:52ah,
22:52you're the oldest.
22:53So,
22:53I'm the one who's,
22:56ano,
22:56in charge of everything.
22:58But,
22:59you know,
22:59again,
23:00coming from just compassion and love,
23:04that I want this person to grow as well,
23:07kagaya nung kung paano ako nag-grow.
23:09And,
23:09it's really important for me,
23:11kasi nagkaroon din po kami ng problem ng brother ko in terms of communication.
23:15Yeah.
23:15And,
23:15because I felt like I'm too imposing as well.
23:18Kasi,
23:18yung nga panay.
23:20But then,
23:21I learned,
23:22and I humbled myself,
23:25to,
23:25to really,
23:27ano,
23:27parang give that awareness as well to him.
23:30And,
23:30right now,
23:31grateful because,
23:33ngayon po,
23:33aligned talaga lahat eh.
23:35Kasi,
23:36yung level of awareness,
23:38if it's not the same,
23:40almost,
23:40pantay-pantay po.
23:42Kasi,
23:43marami,
23:44ang dami,
23:44no?
23:44Talagang,
23:45kung titignan mo ang family business,
23:47although we are,
23:47a lot of MSMEs are family businesses,
23:50no?
23:5096%,
23:5197%.
23:53But again,
23:54with a lot of growth,
23:56really is,
23:56ano eh,
23:57kulang pa eh.
23:58Kulang yung mga kagaya mo na,
24:00you're an advocate,
24:02advocacy for people to let to grow.
24:05Di ba?
24:06Yung bang ganun.
24:07And,
24:07most of the time,
24:09they stay stagnant.
24:11Tagnant,
24:12hangganda na lang,
24:13no?
24:14Kaya nga,
24:15yun ang isang question na,
24:17you know,
24:18the challenge of progressing the family businesses,
24:21no?
24:22Marami tayong successful.
24:23You mentioned the Henry C's,
24:25the,
24:26you know,
24:27the Tans,
24:28and all this,
24:29no?
24:30Gokong Way,
24:31marami,
24:32marami.
24:32There are a lot of,
24:33even other,
24:34in your,
24:35even in your province,
24:36marami yan,
24:37no?
24:37Pero I think,
24:38it's the continuation eh.
24:40Kasi,
24:40there are times when,
24:42the in-laws start to come in.
24:45Yan.
24:46Another,
24:47kumbaga,
24:47another challenge na naman yan,
24:50di ba?
24:51I've seen family businesses,
24:53wherein they're very,
24:54very strong.
24:55But when the children start to marry,
24:58naku,
24:59yan na.
25:00Yung mga in-laws,
25:01nagiging outlaws,
25:02no?
25:03So,
25:03pero,
25:04kaya nga yun ang sinasabi natin sa iba,
25:07no?
25:07Na,
25:08kung may family business ka,
25:09you know,
25:09I might as well start a family constitution.
25:12I mean,
25:12it need not be that,
25:13that rocket science.
25:15All you have to do is start simple.
25:17Ano ba yun talaga yung core ng business?
25:21Ano yung participation?
25:23Tsaka,
25:24nobody can become a child of the owner,
25:26di ba?
25:26Or CEO.
25:28Di ba?
25:28COO.
25:29Yung bang,
25:30di ba?
25:31So,
25:31yun yung,
25:32I think,
25:33andami yun,
25:33para mag never-ending story yung family business,
25:36no?
25:36Di ba?
25:37Di ba?
25:37Yes.
25:38But when you see the growth,
25:39how do you feel now?
25:42After all this persuasion,
25:44ano na feel mo yun?
25:45May pag-asa ba?
25:46Yes,
25:47Yes,
25:47actually po,
25:48sir,
25:48but,
25:48pinag-pinapuan namin yan,
25:50sinabihan ko sila,
25:52and,
25:52meron akong narinig before,
25:54from a seminar,
25:55sabi niya ng ganyan,
25:56the seas are already,
25:59already have it all,
26:00but then,
26:01they,
26:02they're not going to,
26:03they will not stop
26:04growing themselves,
26:06because they want
26:06their legacy
26:08na mapunta hanggang
26:09seventh generation.
26:11Yeah.
26:12Sa atin,
26:13like,
26:14if you're going to be an,
26:15if you just have
26:16an ordinary mind,
26:17ang iisipin mo lang,
26:18para lang makasurvive
26:19in this lifetime,
26:21but then,
26:22those people who,
26:23really have
26:24extraordinary results,
26:26I was inspired,
26:27because,
26:28oo nga,
26:28no,
26:29pwede naman pala,
26:30that,
26:31my mother,
26:32started this business,
26:34but then,
26:34it will continue,
26:36as long as it can,
26:37and,
26:38yun po yung pinagpaplanuhan po
26:39talaga namin,
26:40and,
26:41coming from that vision,
26:42of,
26:43the legacy of my mother,
26:44and,
26:45passing it through us,
26:46and of course,
26:47in the next generation,
26:49palagay ko po,
26:49it will become stronger,
26:52because,
26:53it has a heart,
26:54and a soul,
26:55and,
26:55also,
26:56kumbaga,
26:57united lahat eh,
26:58unlike po,
26:59sa iba nang nangyayari,
27:01nagdi-divided na lang din sila,
27:04because,
27:05they want to,
27:05they don't want to communicate,
27:07they don't want to interfere,
27:08they don't want to make decisions,
27:10and,
27:10grateful because,
27:11yun po yung,
27:12na,
27:13kumbaga parang,
27:14ang ginagawa po namin ngayon.
27:17Yeah,
27:18and also,
27:18trying to avoid,
27:19you know,
27:19all this negativism,
27:20no,
27:20like,
27:21ingit,
27:22doubt,
27:25maraming ano eh,
27:26kumbaga,
27:26I call them termites,
27:28no,
27:28of a family business,
27:29no,
27:30it,
27:30it,
27:30it sort of,
27:31it's the,
27:31the foundation,
27:33no,
27:33of a family business,
27:35no,
27:35yung ingitan,
27:37kanya-kanyahan,
27:38you know,
27:39yung mga ganun,
27:39and these are,
27:40these are things that,
27:41the,
27:41the,
27:42the family members,
27:44and even the young generation,
27:45must be aware of,
27:46di ba,
27:47it's not that because like,
27:48mga bata pa sila,
27:49hindi,
27:50you have to start making them aware,
27:52this is the business,
27:54rather than iwanan,
27:55di ba,
27:56yun,
27:56ganda,
27:56ang ganda,
27:57ang ganda,
27:57very inspiring,
27:58you can really create a book here,
28:00prima,
28:00doon na,
28:01na,
28:03eto na,
28:03libro mo,
28:04eto na,
28:04libro,
28:05no,
28:06tsaka,
28:06the age of technology now,
28:08no,
28:08parang,
28:09ngayon,
28:09ang bilis-bilis ng face ng mundo,
28:11no,
28:11ng negosyo,
28:12di ba,
28:13and how,
28:14how does your business now,
28:15keep up with all the technology now,
28:17I mean,
28:18how does your family view now,
28:19with,
28:19the business,
28:21with all the technologies,
28:22that are surrounding us,
28:25well,
28:25actually,
28:26yun nga po,
28:27so proud that,
28:28since I,
28:29I,
28:30intervened with the business,
28:32kumbaga,
28:32parang growing na lang din eh,
28:34kasi yun nga po,
28:34imagine sir,
28:35boats that we just started,
28:36from a small talipapa,
28:38and everything is manual,
28:40everything is traditional,
28:41but,
28:42you know,
28:42with all the knowledge,
28:44na natutunan ko din sa course ko,
28:46and yung mga bagay na nangyayari ngayon,
28:49I,
28:49kind of,
28:50integrated it,
28:52dun sa negosyo na meron kami,
28:53and,
28:54mas i-integrate pa namin lalo,
28:56kasi,
28:57etong mga bagay na to,
28:58it's,
28:58these are,
28:59for me,
28:59these are tools,
29:00that can really help us,
29:03and,
29:04yung tools na gagamitin,
29:05because,
29:06yun nga,
29:07kumbaga parang,
29:08in the future,
29:09this is already digital age,
29:12and,
29:12we don't know what could happen,
29:14if we're going to be stuck,
29:15on the same loop,
29:17na,
29:17nagwork naman before,
29:18but then,
29:19still,
29:20if you're not going to realize,
29:21that it could have worked better pa,
29:24then,
29:25you will be stuck forever,
29:26and grateful kasi,
29:27yung,
29:27sa business po namin,
29:29gumagamit na rin kami,
29:30can you imagine,
29:31na talipapa,
29:31gumagamit ng POS,
29:34na,
29:34maglaunch ng,
29:35e-commerce,
29:37can you imagine sir?
29:38Oo ba?
29:39Oo,
29:39that's true,
29:41totoo yun,
29:41I mean,
29:42bakit,
29:42wala naman bawal,
29:43e,
29:43di ba?
29:44I mean,
29:44talipapa,
29:45pero,
29:45gumagamit ako ng POS,
29:46social ba?
29:48Yeah,
29:48social,
29:49but,
29:50basically,
29:50you're after accuracy,
29:53you're after your business growth,
29:54di ba?
29:55Hindi yung mano-mano na,
29:57ilan ba yung,
29:58di ba,
29:58meron mga iba,
29:59nilalagay yung,
29:59yung chalk,
30:00one,
30:01two,
30:01three,
30:01four,
30:02one,
30:02two,
30:03nung araw,
30:03yun na nakikita ko,
30:04e,
30:04yung iba nga,
30:06merong colored sticks,
30:07e,
30:07okay,
30:08blue,
30:08blue,
30:09yan ang kita natin,
30:10o,
30:10eto o red,
30:10teka,
30:11telegato tayo,
30:12yung mga ganon,
30:12no?
30:13Yes,
30:13but again,
30:13technology,
30:15really open-minded,
30:16ang dapat mga entrepreneurs,
30:18e,
30:18no?
30:19What tools,
30:20but not to over-tool themselves,
30:22no?
30:22Kasi,
30:23yun ang danger,
30:24no?
30:25A lot of people would want to have everything,
30:29but unfortunately,
30:30it cannot be,
30:31it's not suitable,
30:33di ba?
30:34Parang ganon,
30:34no?
30:34Parang bang,
30:35kumbugan sa cellphone,
30:36e,
30:36you want everything loaded,
30:37but all your apps,
30:39hindi mo naman ginagamit,
30:40di ba?
30:40Parang,
30:41hello.
30:42It will slow you down.
30:44Yeah,
30:44right,
30:45right.
30:45So anyway,
30:47Prima,
30:47your decision-making is so important.
30:50For our viewers here,
30:52business mentor,
30:53ano yung mga,
30:54probably,
30:55makikita mo,
30:55nang pwede mong i-share
30:57for people who are really at the crossroads?
30:59Probably,
31:00they don't know what profession they take,
31:02or probably,
31:03they are like you,
31:04who are probably CPA,
31:06but they don't,
31:07they can't be,
31:08or they're not really that fully happy
31:10in maximizing their profession.
31:13Ano ba yung mga pwede mong ibigay na tips?
31:17Yan,
31:19grabe.
31:19Along the way,
31:20grabe yung,
31:21in terms of decision-making,
31:22sobrang ano lang din po ako,
31:24sobrang indecisive ko,
31:26and,
31:26or,
31:27and then,
31:28kapag ka nag-decide ako,
31:29I don't know if it,
31:29if,
31:30if it will,
31:31if it will prosper,
31:33pag hindi nag-prosper,
31:34iwan ko na lang,
31:34I will just go by flight.
31:37And then,
31:37I realize na,
31:39sa decision-making,
31:40it's not just you,
31:42is going to decide,
31:43but then,
31:44of course,
31:44allowing,
31:46then,
31:46humbling yourself to,
31:48to ask for support,
31:50and then,
31:51ask for support na,
31:53syempre,
31:53yung mga tao na nakakaalam na,
31:55kung saan mo gustong mapunta.
31:56Not just for people,
31:57that you just want to listen to,
31:59or other people na,
32:01ito'y sasabihin ganyan,
32:02but then,
32:02they don't have the results that you want.
32:04And,
32:04of course,
32:06even the values,
32:07ano ba yung naitita mong values dun sa taong yun,
32:09and the lifestyle,
32:10because,
32:11again,
32:12we can ask for decisions,
32:14like,
32:14we can ask for,
32:15for an advice,
32:17dun sa mayaman na tao,
32:18but then,
32:19hindi natin alam kung saan galing yung yaman niya.
32:21Like,
32:21for example,
32:22na lang,
32:22yung mga hindi magaganda,
32:23mga illegal na bagay,
32:25but,
32:25yeah,
32:26me engaging with those kind of people,
32:29that will help me decide to,
32:31yun nga,
32:32in terms of business,
32:33and,
32:33of course,
32:35since family business po kami,
32:38kumbaga,
32:38hindi lang din ako,
32:40kumbaga,
32:40dapat inuupuan yan,
32:42at sinasabi,
32:43ano yung mga pros and cons,
32:45not just,
32:46this is what I want,
32:47and not coming from ego,
32:49but then,
32:49you just humbling yourself,
32:51I want whatever it is that you want,
32:53kung ano man yung plano mo sa buhay,
32:55ask for support,
32:58and after asking for support,
33:00and,
33:00siyempre,
33:01knowing who would you ask for,
33:04and,
33:05lastly,
33:05is that,
33:06yeah,
33:06weigh things,
33:07the pros and the cons,
33:08in order for you to make the better decision,
33:11not just a decision.
33:13Yeah,
33:13but sometimes,
33:14the weighing takes too long,
33:16you know,
33:17ito yung tinatawag natin,
33:18study paralysis,
33:19or procrastination,
33:22you know,
33:22madali mag-procrastinate,
33:24eh,
33:24bukas na yan,
33:25hindi,
33:25pahod pa ako,
33:26hindi,
33:27marami akong gagawin,
33:28tsaka na,
33:30kinakabahan pa ako,
33:32or pagputi ng uwak,
33:33you know,
33:34yung mga ganun ba,
33:35but by the time,
33:37you know,
33:37opportunities pass,
33:39di ba,
33:39yung bang,
33:40marami tayong ganun,
33:41no,
33:42bakit hindi ko naisip yun,
33:43kasi naisip mo na yun,
33:44pero hindi ka gumawa ng aksyon,
33:46di ba,
33:46yung baga,
33:47I think,
33:48with these changing times that we are in,
33:50talagang,
33:51decision has to be made,
33:53it may not be perfect,
33:54but you learn from it,
33:55di ba,
33:55parang,
33:56yeah,
33:56you fail,
33:58but it's a wake-up call,
33:59it's up to you to stand up na naman,
34:01di ba,
34:01parang ganun,
34:02ano,
34:02kumbaga,
34:03ang bata,
34:03hindi naman natutong maglakad tayo agad,
34:05di ba,
34:06hindi naman tayo naging,
34:07two kilometer runner,
34:09eh,
34:09di ba,
34:09ng bata,
34:11but again,
34:12we stand up,
34:13and we really fail,
34:14but we stand up,
34:15and stand up,
34:16di ba,
34:16ganun yun,
34:17wow,
34:18Prima,
34:18you'll be one of the pioneers in helping a lot of entrepreneurs there,
34:23and probably you'll be the,
34:24the Prima Donna talaga,
34:26you know,
34:26bakit nga pala Prima,
34:27ba't nga pala Prima ang binigay sa'yo ng nanay mo,
34:30kumbaga,
34:31ang ganda,
34:31you know,
34:31aptly,
34:32aptly,
34:33the right,
34:34the right name,
34:35Prima Donna,
34:36you know,
34:36parang,
34:37sino ba yun,
34:38di ba,
34:39ano bang,
34:40ano,
34:40did you ever ask your mom,
34:41why was I named Prima Donna?
34:44Ah,
34:45actually,
34:46yan po yung isang,
34:48ano din sa'kin,
34:48question sa'kin,
34:49but then I,
34:51ah,
34:51she,
34:52she also told me na,
34:54yung pangalan ko din is,
34:56arrived from my sister who passed away,
34:58so,
35:00yeah,
35:00um,
35:01dinagdagan lang ng Prima,
35:03so,
35:03ayun po,
35:04I don't know kung sa'n yan ako ayun,
35:05parang feeling niya kasi sobrang ganda ng pangalan,
35:07so,
35:08yeah,
35:08that,
35:09that,
35:09that's how it happened.
35:11Oh,
35:11pangka,
35:12malaki ang challenge sa'yo,
35:14because hindi mo pwedeng sirain yan,
35:16no,
35:17Prima Donna sa advocacy,
35:19at hindi Prima Donna sa pagiging marites,
35:22di ba?
