Your guide to the 5 best things to do next week in & around Preston and Blackpool

00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon and welcome to another edition of Five Things to Do Next
00:07Week across central Lancashire and the Fouled Coast.
00:11First up in Preston, an 150-year anniversary celebration of the Preston Market Canopy is
00:18on between Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th.
00:22Running between 11am and 3pm each day, visitors to Preston Market's celebration can expect
00:29traditional characters, such as Victorian strongmen and penny-faring riding policemen,
00:34along with live performances and family-friendly activities.
00:38A special heritage tour will also offer insights into the market's rich history,
00:43whilst a curated display developed in collaboration with a history student from the University of Central Lancashire
00:48will showcase the market's story through the decades.
00:52Also in Preston, a day of celebrations will take place on Saturday, August 16th
00:57to mark victory over Japan Day.
01:00As well as a parade, expect performances, workshops and vintage music that will transport you back in time
01:07with songs from the wartime period.
01:10Running between 10am and 1pm, the event is free and takes place on the flag market.
01:16Organisers urge residents not to miss this opportunity to pay tribute to the heroes of World War II
01:21and celebrate 80 years of courage, sacrifice and resilience.
01:26In Chorley, the monthly Classic Car Rally at Heskin Hall returns on Sunday, August 17th.
01:34Running between 10.30am and 3pm, all types of Classic vehicles are welcome at the rally
01:40and there is a prize for the winner.
01:43It costs £3 to enter the competition, but the event is free for those visiting to just look around.
01:48Over on the Fowled Coast, The Wind in the Willows is on at the Blackpool Grand Theatre
01:54between Thursday, August 14th and Sunday, August 17th.
01:59Presented by the theatre's professionally presented summer youth production,
02:03expect a righteous musical comedy full of humour and wit,
02:07a gorgeous soaring score and heartwarming lessons of friendship.
02:11The perfect fit for family audiences everywhere.
02:15The Wind in the Willows musical is based on Kenneth Graham's beloved tale of animal friends
02:20and riverbank neighbours, Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger,
02:24with a book by Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellows,
02:29and songs by Olivier Award-winning composers and lyricists, George Stiles and Anthony Drew.
02:35Finally, Lifham's 1940s weekend returns to Lifham Green between Saturday, August 16th and Sunday, August 17th.
02:45Across the two days, Lifham relives the 1940s Walsheim era
02:49with a weekend of 40s singing, dancing, weapons displays, historic vehicles, military charities,
02:57vintage traders and more.
02:59Running between 10am and 5pm each day,
03:02the event is free, but a parking charge of £10 per car applies.
