During a visit to Fylde, the Prime Minister was asked by local democracy reporter Paul Faulkner whether the elections due in Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Chorley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Preston and West Lancashire in May 2026 would definitely be held, in spite of the fact that those councils would be abolished just two years later .
