00:00Mick is not like any other man I've met before.
00:03The fact that at 87 he turns up every week
00:06and he throws weights around like a 21 year old in the gym
00:09it's just absolutely amazing
00:10and how much it's transformed his life and my life as well.
00:14My friend, I talked him into coming to the gym
00:19to work with Ross
00:21and he came in and he went and lifted 120 kilos.
00:26Now I've never lifted 120 kilos
00:30and I told him that wasn't fair
00:33because I'd got him to come in the gym
00:35and he went and lifted 120k
00:38so that's been my target ever since
00:41and Ross has worked me up
00:44and the most I've been up to was
00:47I think it was 12 months ago
00:48I got up to 110
00:51so I'm still working at it
00:54and I haven't got up to 120 but I will do
00:58I will eventually lift 120.
01:02One of the most important things people don't realise
01:04when you get older is your bone density starts to wear
01:06if you fall in love when you're older
01:08you can break a hip or leg
01:09and it can be a death sentence really
01:11it sounds a bit horrible
01:12but by coming to the gym lifting weights
01:14you can reverse that
01:14you can reverse a lot of illnesses
01:16and live longer into life
01:17and I think Mick's an example of what we've been able to do
01:20over the last couple of years.
01:21I come every week and Ross trains me for a full straight hours
01:27non-stop
01:28we work
01:29make it worthwhile
01:31and I go to the council gym three times a week
01:38and just spend two hours of time going there
01:45but I go easy
01:47you know
01:48I don't go for an attic at it there
01:50and it's partly what for the company
01:54of the lads that are in there.
01:56I think more people need to know that weight training
01:58and for older people how effective it is
02:01and in terms of heart health as well
02:02you're not spiking people's hearts
02:04it's controlled, it's safe
02:06and the change it can have on you is amazing.
02:08I wouldn't be here
02:10but for the
02:13the weight lift in the gym
02:15I think I would have gone long since.
02:19It keeps me going.
02:21It's something to get up for.
