41:59It's safe and a bargain.
42:291,903 pounds.
43:29price, price, price, price, 587 quid.
43:31Next one, 580, next one, 587.
43:34So I thought, well, I wonder how much more it would be to go to a BMW dealer, because at the end of the day, they don't specialize.
43:39So I phone my local BMW dealer.
43:41So I phone my local BMW dealer. And what do you think the price was?
43:43Well, I mean, I'm kind of suspecting it might be good, but I would have imagined BMW franchise dealer, it's going to be a lot. I thought, you know, six, seven, maybe a grand, big money.
43:51Yeah. 420 pounds.
43:53Yeah. 420 pounds. No.
43:54Including that, and fit in 170 pounds cheaper than quick fit.
43:58And you've kind of got the security that it was fitted at a franchise dealer. I don't know if that makes any difference, but...
44:03Well, it's BMW trained technicians, they know their way around the car. So I thought, well, okay, we'll try some other places.
44:08I got the price down a little bit with some of the independent tyre places, but the message is very clear.
44:12Don't assume that the franchise dealer is going to be more expensive than some of these quick fit places.
44:17Get a couple of prices and negotiate between them.
44:19Shop around.
44:20Save yourself 170 quid on that one alone.
44:22Okay, but how about this for deal of the week? Vox alone, we have a 2.2 CDX auto.
44:27Big car.
44:28Big car, £22,500 if you went to buy that car. List price, £22,500.
44:33But there is a dealer in the UK that is currently selling a brand new unregistered car for £16,000.
44:41£16,000? That's an enormous saving.
44:43Six and a half grand off.
44:44For a big old car.
44:45Yep, 30% off list price.
44:47But that was just one. But does that mean if there's one...
44:49There is an old adage. If there's one out there, there's going to be more than one out there.
44:52So I was offered one car, but I'm sure that if I dug a bit deeper, I could find a few more.
44:56That is a very big saving on a very big car. Nice one.
45:00Look at this. Look at this. Serious car.
45:03This is a Bentley, a Nage T.
45:07It was built with Volkswagen money, but it's still very, very British.
45:12And you can tell that when you step inside, because look, this is all loose.
45:16And the key is very slow motion.
45:21But, you know, the doors on Westminster Abbey don't fit very well.
45:24Nobody seems to care about that.
45:26And that's the thing about Bentley.
45:28They have a different approach to everything.
45:31Most of the engines in today's big cars are 21st century, fuel-efficient tree-huggers.
45:47But the six and three-quarter litre V8 in this Bentley can trace its roots back to 1959.
45:55The trees wither when they hear it coming.
45:58It's big, brunellian, and unbelievably powerful.
46:02A few years ago, when Bentley was still independent, it tried to kill this engine off.
46:20But when Volkswagen came along, they brought it back and added a couple of turbos for good measure.
46:26So what does it feel like then, all that power and talk?
46:35Well, you know what it's like when you're sitting outside on a hot, thundery summer's afternoon,
46:40and it's like you can feel the weight of the sky.
46:43It's like an intangible presence.
46:46Well, that's what it's like driving an Nage T.
46:49If Hollywood were to make a trailer for this car, I know how it'd go.
46:57Bentley.
47:00Fear beyond your wildest dreams.
47:03In a Bentley, no one can hear you scream.
47:07You're constantly aware that if you were sitting in this car at a zebra crossing and you revved the engine,
47:19anyone actually on the crossing would be sucked through the radiator grill and into the engine.
47:26Just driving along now, you can feel it hoovering up leaves and small stones that's going along.
47:31Arr, arr, eating the tarmac.
47:33You probably think there's nothing to be scared of.
47:37You probably think you can handle it, like heroin.
47:40But look, I mean, I'm going 60 miles an hour, just a little cough, and we're doing 70.
47:46And then we're going 80.
47:47And now we're doing 90.
47:49And I'm starting to feel drowsy because it's so relaxing as we go past 100 and 110.
47:56130.
47:56And it isn't only fast in a straight line.
48:10You ever wondered what Blenheim Palace would look like going sideways?
48:14Well, I'll turn the traction control off, and you need wonder no more.
48:18You couldn't do this in an Audi or a Mercedes.
48:35Driving the Bentley is like riding a Brontosaurus bareback.
48:45Actually, make that a T-Rex.
48:48Hold on to you, cameraman.
48:53What have you dropped the camera for?
48:55I told you it was a frightening car.
48:58So what we have here, then, is a three-ton car that can do 0 to 60 in five and a half seconds.
49:04A stately home that can power slide.
49:07Bentleys are supposed to be sporting, but this is manic.
49:10This is magnificent.
49:12I, therefore, don't mind all these fiddly switches and this loose center console.
49:19If you want perfection, buy a Mercedes.
49:23Or marry your accountant.
49:25Without a doubt, this is my favorite of all the luxury barges that we've seen tonight.
49:51Even though there are a few things wrong with it.
49:53First of all, it suffered from total brake failure during the filming of that item.
49:59Secondly, David Beckham's got one.
50:01And thirdly, it costs exactly twice what you'd pay for an S-Class Mercedes-Benz.
50:06But, as we can see from this mathematical formula here, Omega carry the one, it is exactly twice the car.
50:16No, it is, really.
50:17The only thing that remains now for us to do is to find out how fast it goes around the track.
50:22These are the times we've had so far.
50:23The Westfield is leading.
50:25One minute, 23 seconds.
50:27The only problem is the Westfield weighs exactly the same as one of the indicator stalks in this.
50:33Let's see what happens.
50:34Over to you, Mr. Stig.
50:35Here he is, and he's off.
50:43Building up the 645 pounds-feet of torque and heading down to the first corner.
50:48That's so fast!
50:52Oh, no.
50:54It was Boston last week, and this week it's Ronan, Keating and Lulu murdering Bob Segers we've got tonight.
51:01Right, through the Hammerhead, the Bentley is struggling.
51:09It doesn't have a limited slip differential.
51:11Look, it's wet.
51:12Oh, it's just spinning away all the power on that unloaded wheel.
51:17Unleash the turbos, and off down to the follow-through.
51:20Two corners to go now.
51:31Bacharach and Carpenter's Curve.
51:331.23 to beat.
51:35Here he is.
51:36How's it going?
51:37Look at that!
51:39And across the line in one minute, 40 seconds.
51:44Put a W there for wet.
51:46Now, that's not particularly fast, I admit, for a car, but it is very fast for a cathedral.
51:53Which it is.
51:54God, I love this thing.
51:55I absolutely adore it.
51:57Right, on last week's show, we had the multimillion-pound, fully-tricked-up Bond cars in the studio, and they were fantastic.
52:05And they set us thinking, and we invited you to send in your ideas for us to build a cut-price Bond car on a budget.
52:11And I do mean a budget.
52:12300 quid.
52:13And we've done it!
52:14And this is it.
52:15I can't say we used all of your ideas, because some of them were, frankly, a bit scary.
52:19But we gave all the good ones to our own cut-price queue, Ed China.
52:22Hello, how are you doing?
52:23My, you are a tall one, aren't you?
52:25Yes, and he's done one of those three and a half.
52:26Thank you very much.
52:28He's created this.
52:29It's a Rover 800, mate.
52:31It's a gentleman's car.
52:32It is.
52:32In British Racing Green.
52:33The only colour we can have.
52:34That's very apt for Bond.
52:35If you're wondering, by the way, where everyone's gone, they're over there.
52:39They've sort of backed off.
52:41But don't worry about us.
52:42We'll be fine over here where the dangerous stuff is.
52:45Right, talk us through it in a queue way.
52:47Well, I think the best thing is to get inside, first of all.
52:49Okay.
52:49So I'll open the door for you.
52:50Ordinary door handle.
52:51That doesn't trigger anything.
52:52Absolutely normal.
52:52You're a completely standard Rover.
52:53This is all right in here, actually.
52:54It's not bad.
52:55Well, again, it's a standard Rover dashboard.
52:56If you look next to the handbrake, we have our first gizmo.
52:59Oh, like another handbrake?
53:00Well, another handbrake.
53:01You'd think that, of course.
53:02And that's the idea, of course.
53:03Now, the thing is, if you can imagine the scenario.
53:05You're driving along, minding your own business, just going down to the shops, whatever.
53:08And suddenly, maybe an assailant is behind you.
53:10And they're giving a bit of grief and a bit of road rage.
53:12So the first thing to do is try and shed them.
53:15So if you were to push the red button there.
53:16Right, what happens?
53:17Well, we're going to shed thousands of balls behind us.
53:19Okay, I'm going to press it now.
53:20Give it a go.
53:22Oh, my word, what happened?
53:23There's all balls everywhere.
53:25Look at that.
53:25Now, that'll see him off.
53:27Well, obviously, normally, you might want to use maybe boiling oil, fish fingers, that sort of thing.
53:31But balls are good.
53:32Now, how did you make this, just briefly?
53:34Well, it was actually Auntie Maud's panic button.
53:36What, the red button is?
53:37Yeah, that's right.
53:38I mean, she'll be okay for a couple of weeks.
53:39So she presses that in a flat, loads of balls everywhere.
53:41Everywhere.
53:42So, I mean, and this is a bit of bike cable.
53:43So these are things you could build at home.
53:45This is absolutely, yes.
53:46And kids, try this at home.
53:47Right, so we've blown balls at them.
53:49Now we've annoyed them.
53:50So now the chances are they're going to be shooting at us.
53:52They do that.
53:53Yeah, and you see, I suppose we need protection from that.
53:56We do.
53:56Which causes the next gizmo.
53:57Right, so we need...
53:58Oh, you're putting goggles on.
53:59I think I'm going to put goggles on, because this is going to get dangerous now.
54:01Right, okay.
54:02Well, we need a villain to do this.
54:03We do.
54:03Jason, where are you, mate?
54:04Oh, look at that.
54:06He does look actually quite scary.
54:08He's very sick and very stern.
54:09Right, so he's miffed.
54:12Okay, yeah.
54:12And he's going to shoot at us.
54:13Okay, fire away, buddy.
54:15Fire away.
54:16Oh, my word.
54:17Oh, look at that.
54:19Oh, Jason.
54:21Fantastic.
54:21That does look a lot like a tea tray.
54:24Well, it is actually a tea tray, but it's a bulletproof tea tray.
54:26They're the best sort.
54:27They are.
54:27It cost us £6.50.
54:29Charity shop, yeah.
54:30Indeed, charity shop.
54:31Came with a trolley as well, which was quite nice.
54:32Oh, well found.
54:33Well, I'll retract that.
54:34Excellent.
54:35I like the way the spoiler goes, huh?
54:36Well, now, the thing is, obviously, now we've actually annoyed them even further.
54:39They're really going to be close.
54:40Exactly.
54:41So now, fantastically stunning maneuver, handbrake turn.
54:44You now have them in front of them.
54:45You have to blast them.
54:46I'm facing them now.
54:47You're facing them.
54:48You're going to blast them out of the sky.
54:49Right, okay.
54:51So we've got guns.
54:52We have guns.
54:53But, of course, James Bond would use, you know, nasty little gizmos and little buttons.
54:56We've got something a bit more classy.
54:58Fuzzy dice.
54:59Fluffy dice?
54:59Fluffy dice.
55:00Well, these are the trigger.
55:01Yep.
55:02This fires guns.
55:03Well, we need a target.
55:03And I think, Jeremy.
55:04Indeed.
55:04Oh, look.
55:05Perfect.
55:06The perfect target.
55:07I'm not the target.
55:08Right.
55:09But I have got you the perfect target.
55:11Blofeld himself.
55:13Ready, everyone?
55:14Oh, look at that.
55:15Perfect.
55:16Right, he can have it.
55:17Yes.
55:22Voila.
55:26Ed, this is a very good job.
55:29Their paintball curtains sort of, they're hidden completely in there.
55:32They are.
55:33They're hidden inside the wings.
55:34And triggered with these.
55:35That's right.
55:36Well, the way it's done, because most paintball guns are actually done manually.
55:39Yeah.
55:39Had to make kind of like a plastic finger.
55:41And used a Metro windscreen-wiper motor as a kind of a cog to actually flick it around.
55:44So that's how they become.
55:45A plastic finger.
55:45Yeah, well, yeah.
55:46It's very Bond.
55:47Right.
55:47Well, that's him pretty much sorted, I'd say.
55:49What about this fella here?
55:51Well, he's a bit more tricky.
55:52I mean, obviously, normally, etiquette would suggest you should ask him politely to leave.
55:55But if none of those work, then obviously, what we need to do is vacate the vehicle ourselves.
55:59Right.
55:59Because we have another little trick up our seat.
56:01Oh, right.
56:01Something awful's going to happen.
56:02It is.
56:03What we need to do is grab hold of this.
56:05That seat was wet, Ed.
56:06I'm sorry.
56:07You're always enjoying yourself.
56:08I've got a doorbell.
56:09We have.
56:10It's a brass doorbell.
56:11There's no expense spared.
56:13So I think we're going to need to get a little bit further away from the vehicle.
56:16Exactly how far, Ed?
56:17Well, a little bit more than that, possibly.
56:18So how dangerous is this?
56:20Possibly a little bit more than that, I think.
56:22Right.
56:23That would probably be...
56:24Can I be as far as the audience?
56:26That might be not a bad idea to me.
56:28Right.
56:28So, and then it's this button here.
56:31Yep.
56:31And we're asking one more time.
56:32Would you mind leaving my car, villain?
56:34No.
56:34Right.
56:35Have this.
56:36Exactly.
56:36Exactly.
56:47Thank you.
56:50Oh!
56:55Just see.
56:56Fantastic.
56:57And you as well, you're a good person.
56:58Wonderful.
57:00Right.
57:01So we've got rid of him.
57:02We have.
57:02You've got one more trick left.
57:04We have.
57:04We've done violence.
57:05We have done violence.
57:05I think we need fire and brimstone next.
57:07Nice.
57:07I like the sound of that.
57:08And they're going to be complete without some kind of rocket.
57:10Okay.
57:10Now this is...
57:11This is...
57:12Well, this is a drainpipe, Ed.
57:13It is a drainpipe.
57:14Yes, you're right.
57:15It's very well spotted, that.
57:16It's something we can have a go at at home for us.
57:18Well, it is.
57:18Well, what you need, of course, is our fuel-cleaning missile.
57:22Right.
57:22Okay.
57:23This is some sort of rocket.
57:24Of course, also, there's always an opportunity.
57:27When you're driving along, you might actually have to run away.
57:29So, of course, you need a windproof lighter.
57:31Oh, you've thought of everything.
57:32So I've got one of these.
57:33You've got one on your side.
57:34I have indeed.
57:34So what you have to do is open this little frappe.
57:36Open this.
57:36And put this in here.
57:38Light it.
57:38Like so.
57:39I'm going to put my goggles on as well while you get there.
57:41That's all about it.
57:42It's very neat.
57:43I'll put these on.
57:44I don't think Bond wears these generally.
57:49Safety first, all right?
57:50I think mine are much smarter than yours.
57:51I like my green tint.
57:52Windproof.
57:53That's genius.
57:54Ready?
57:54Okay.
57:55Right.
57:56I'm going.
57:56This is really going to do for...
57:57I think we might have to stand back.
57:58I'm going to stand back a very long way.
58:01Over here.
58:01I like picking your pack.
58:01Yeah.
58:01Ed!
58:18Ed!
58:19Ed!
58:19That was fantastic!
58:20That was fantastic!
58:20And I'm afraid we have to end it there.
58:24We've got a lot of tidying up to do here and everywhere, frankly.
58:27And we've got to get some flowers and some cushions and some potpourri because we've got
58:31some girls coming on the show next week.
58:34But don't worry.
58:35We've also got a five and a half litre supercharged V8 Mercedes.
58:40So we'll see you then.
58:41Good night.
58:42Good night.
58:43Good night.
