00:00Hello there, good afternoon. It's a fine day out there for many of us. We've got some warm
00:04spells of sunshine in places too, but we do have Storm Floris on the way on Monday. So
00:08a warning is already in place for very strong winds for Monday, mainly in northern parts
00:14of the UK, but some disruption is potentially on the way. So do stay tuned to the forecasts.
00:19A very powerful jet stream at the moment moving across the Atlantic, and it's as Storm Floris
00:24moves across the jet stream and onto the northern side of the jet stream that we could see it
00:28rapidly deepen through Sunday night and into Monday as it approaches the UK. So, as I
00:33say, some disruptive winds are quite likely across Scotland, northern Ireland, and potentially
00:38northern England too. But back to Saturday afternoon, and it's a fine picture out there.
00:42It's not necessarily wall-to-wall sunshine for many. There is quite a lot of cloud across
00:46England and Wales, but there is some sunny breaks too. The best of sunshine though this afternoon
00:50probably across parts of Scotland, northern England, and western fringes of Wales and the
00:55south-west too. But even here, temperatures are higher than yesterday, so feeling pleasantly
01:00warm in that sunshine with much lighter winds. Temperatures ranging from around 19 degrees
01:05to 23 or 24 in the south. So, as I say, a nice pleasant summer's afternoon to come.
01:11But out towards the west, notice this thicker cloud pushing into northern Ireland, and also
01:15some outbreaks of rain. So it is going to be turning more unsettled through this evening
01:18overnight for parts of Scotland and northern Ireland. Some heavy outbreaks of rain in places
01:22too, and that band of rain and thicker cloud pushing slowly south-east was into England
01:27and Wales by the end of the night too. It will stay pretty humid in the west tonight,
01:31with some low cloud, mist and fog developing around Irish Sea coast and over the higher
01:35ground. So temperatures here not falling below 16 or 17 degrees, so much, much milder than last
01:41night. A little bit cooler down towards the south and the east, west skies stay clear, but
01:45even here, temperatures probably holding up in double figures, even in the countryside.
01:49So it's the south-east of the UK that will enjoy the best of the bright and sunny weather
01:54first thing on Sunday morning. Do make the most of the sunshine, probably starting to
01:58cloud over a little bit as we go through the course of the day. Outbreaks of rain elsewhere
02:02pushing their way south and eastwards. Still the odd heavier bursts here and there, but
02:06some places staying mostly dry. And then brighter skies with plenty of sunny spells following
02:10along to many northern and central parts of the UK through the afternoon. There will be one
02:16two showers, perhaps, in that brisk, westy flow. Perhaps most likely across eastern parts
02:21of Scotland, and a few heavy showers also for north-east England too. And I wouldn't entirely
02:25rule out the odd rumble of thunder with these as well.
02:29Now with that breeze, it will start to turn a bit fresher across the north, but still pleasantly
02:32warm in the sunshine and temperatures around average for the time of year. Down across the
02:37south, though, staying pretty humid and temperatures here in the low to mid-twenties.
02:42So still a few dribs and drabs of rain and drizzle across the far south on Sunday evening, but
02:47most places having a drier and clearer interlude for a time. It's not going to last, though,
02:52out towards the west. We have got storm florists moving in, and we have this yellow warning
02:56already in place for Monday and into Tuesday morning as well. So some very strong winds on
03:01the way, especially across northern parts of the UK. Quite unseasonably strong winds for
03:06early August. We're expecting some large waves, some potential power interruptions due to
03:10falling trees, and certainly some disruptions. So do please stay tuned to the forecast. Check
03:16our app and our website for the latest on the warnings.
03:20So in terms of those strongest winds, this is what we're expecting as we go through the
03:24day on Monday. So storm florists rapidly deepens, bringing some strong winds to Northern Ireland,
03:28but especially across western parts of Scotland and northern Scotland. We could even see gusts
03:32up to 85 miles per hour in exposed spots. So that's pretty unusual for the middle of summer.
03:39As I say, lots of warnings expected. So do stay tuned to the forecast. Check the app and the
03:44website. But that's everything from me, and I'll see you again very soon.
