00:00So, as ever, there is loads to do in the city of Bristol, from kind of your food to your drink, from festivals and music and theatre.
00:09So, let us start with The Idols, which is a Bristol band who are performing in the city. Tell us a little bit about that.
00:17Yes, that's right. Bristol's Post Punk Heroes Idols will be performing the UK only gig of 2025 at Queen's Square on August 1st and 2nd.
00:27They will be joined by the likes of Softplay, Lambrini Girls, Sigardia, The Voids, Hintz, Scalar, Grove, TLC and as well as some local DJs.
00:38This will also be the first mass music event that's happening in Bristol's Queen's Square in over two decades.
00:46Oh, thank you. That sounds lovely. And it's nice that a Bristol band has done so well.
00:52So, shall we move on to the Festival of Summer? What can we expect from that this year?
00:56Well, the Festival of Summer has returned to The Downs until August 17th.
01:02Guests can expect to step into a beach area where they can relax with their feet in the sand or cool off in the splash pool.
01:09Grown-ups can unwind with a cocktail form, the fully licensed Tiki Bar, whilst the kids enjoy the sunshine and water fun.
01:16There's also a vibrant food village, besting with flavours from around the world, a kid's zone and some of the UK's best mobile rides, including roller coasters, thrill rides such as the Extreme or Red Devil, classic fairground fighter favourites and jaw-dropping inflatable attractions.
01:34Oh, thank you. That sounds like a lovely one, especially for the summer holidays.
01:39So, let's move a tiny little bit further afield to Western Supermare, where there is a Shanty and Folk Festival happening.
01:45What can we expect from that?
01:47Well, Western Supermare's Shanty and Folk Festival will be returning this weekend from August 1st to the 3rd,
01:55with over 40 bands spread over a multitude of venues.
01:59Expect pirates, food, drink, clothes, trinkets and the biggest festival to date, with some acts even travelling from France and the USA.
02:10Ah, that will be a very exciting one, especially on the seaside.
02:14So, let's finish then with a very exciting thing that is happening at Aerospace Bristol, with Rolls-Royce, with lots of engines all coming home to Bristol, as it is a massive engineering city.
02:26What can we expect from that?
02:28Well, 70 historic Rolls-Royce engines will be showcased to the public at Aerospace Bristol, in the landmark space of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust Collection,
02:39and will bring the rare engines to a wider audience for the first time.
02:44Many of the engines, originally designed and built by a generation of engineers in Bristol,
02:49will now be on public display, celebrating the city's central role in powering some of the world's most iconic aircraft.
02:57The engines will be on display in Hangar 16R.
