February half term is always an exciting week in the City of Bristol. Packed with events,
00:06
places to visit and people to see. Let's look at a guide to Bristol this half term.
00:12
One free and exciting event that is happening this half term in Bristol is the Light Festival.
00:18
Bristol Light Festival was founded by Bristol's City Centre Business Improvement District
00:23
and this year's Light Festival is set to be the biggest yet. The festival sees the
00:29
city transformed with light and art installations, all to bring footfall to the city.
00:36
Here is a really traditionally dark time of year and especially after the pandemic and
00:42
I think it's really important for us to be bringing a bit of joy and a bit of fun to
00:47
the city centre.
00:49
This half term you can discover the fascinating link between the iconic ship the SS Great
00:54
Britain and its role in Victorian plant migration across the continent. Unleash your inner botanist
01:00
on board the SS Great Britain's flower crafting sessions and make your own Victorian inspired
01:07
flower press bookmark. The ship is an iconic tourist attraction in the City of Bristol
01:12
and February half term is set to be an exciting one for the ship and its visitors.
01:18
Wicked the Musical is visiting the Bristol Hippodrome as part of their touring circuit.
01:23
When Dorothy famously triumphed over the wicked witch of the west we only ever heard one side
01:29
of the story and this half term it is in the City of Bristol at the iconic theatre the
01:35
Bristol Hippodrome.
01:37
Wake the Tiger has officially opened its expansion. The newest out of this world immersive addition
01:44
to the world's first amazement park which has 15 new spaces and Bristol Aquarium is
01:51
open in full force for families with an exciting event shipwrecker.
01:56
Awaking in a strange new world you will discover a wonderful new land full of rare and interesting
02:02
creatures to explore. This half term the Bristol Aquarium is focusing on the wild and wonderful
02:09
world of island creatures from all around the world.
02:13
Yes so all throughout half term we have got our shipwrecked event so customers when they
02:18
come to us during February half term will be able to step into the shoes of someone
02:22
who has been shipwrecked on an island and we are introducing some new themed boards
02:27
to the aquarium all with information about different islands, island life and some of
02:34
them animals that have since gone extinct, some of them animals that are still around
02:39
today and anyone can come along and we have got a trail of captains notes that people
02:45
can find throughout the aquarium and they can write down little notes to educate themselves
02:50
and have a bit of fun and learn all about what they might find on islands all throughout
02:54
the world.
02:56
All that is left to say is there is something to do for everyone this half term.
