00:00Clifton Village was voted the best place to live in the South West by Garrington Property
00:05Finders. The study looked at the top 20 locations based on transport links, nearby train stations
00:12and destinations and nearby schools. Let's find out if locals agree with the verdict.
00:19I'm a student at the University of Bristol and I just moved here in the Clifton Village
00:24area like a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm liking it. It's very nice, especially
00:33compared to the rest of Bristol it feels much safer. The people here seem to be friendlier
00:42and I especially like this area over here, I'm not sure what it's called, there's like
00:47a bunch of cafes and stores here. It's very friendly and nice.
00:53It's a really lovely little community, very safe, very quaint, kind of has a nice country
01:00feel inside of a big city, so yeah, love it. Love going up to the observatory and that
01:05whole kind of greenery area looking over the suspension bridge, that's gorgeous. This little
01:09road just down here with all the little cafes, I love Mercy, which is just a cafe on the
01:14corner there. Most of it to be honest with you is lovely.
01:18It's lovely, it's like a little sort of city within Bristol, it's completely different
01:22than anywhere else, it's lovely. I would agree as well, I've really enjoyed
01:26my lunch and being with my friend and some lovely shops.
01:30Well I like The Mall, that's always very nice, there's some nice shops up there, Canadonia
01:34Place is lovely, Princess Victoria Street, which is what we're just entering now is really
01:37good, and we've had a nice lunch in Boyce's Avenue in the Primrose Cafe, so that's been
01:42nice. I've lived here for 25 years and I just like
01:47the fact that it's clean, it's extremely friendly, wonderful restaurants, lovely public
01:57houses and the people are extremely friendly. I'm an old person now obviously, I'm in my
02:02sort of mid to late 70s, and there's a community and if you don't see somebody for a couple
02:09of days, people wonder why, and then there's a little bit of support hopefully, and it's
02:16just a great place to be. The sun always shines here by the way, as it is today, and it's
02:22one of the only places I think around here where people look after one another.
02:29And are there any issues with the area? Parking I should think, it's a bit of a nightmare
02:34in lots of places, but certainly in Clifton it's quite difficult to get a parking space.
02:39Not a lot. I'd love for them to do something with that, there's a little area up there
02:44which has been kind of derelict for a little while, but it can be a little bit expensive
02:49sometimes compared to the rest of Bristol, but no, nothing needs to be done.
02:55Overall, locals agreed that Clifton Village is a great place to live. Many have praised
03:00the friendly community and the safe environment, and pointed to just some minor issues with
03:06the area.
